Photoshop CS6 Extended on Mac OS

I can't get the CD software disk to open and install on my new 27" iMac. I called Apple and they think it might be a problem with the disk. I installed flash and reader off the internet and that did not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

You should be able to download the trial from the Adobe website and then use the license number you have. Then call Adobe customer service and get a new DVD.

Adobe won't validate serial numbers that I was given for Photoshop CS6 Extended on Mac. What should I do? Calling won't work as I am deaf and I could not find any solution on internet to this. How to install Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac with no DVD drive?

I have bought the Photoshop CS6 Extended for Students for my new Mac and realized that I don't have a DVD drive to install it on. Is there a way that I can install the program without the cd? I have looked into the "free trial then activate" route and Adobe no longer offers a free trial for Photoshop CS6 Extended.

Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac Failure to Install

I purchased the student addition for my iMac (10.8 version and plenty of space for it to be on my computer) of the Photoshop CS6 extended. When I go to my orders to download, you have to download the Akamai Download Manager 834 KB, which I did, and it opened up the download instructions from the Akamai net session interface. Then I went to download the actual product. Akamai Download Manager 1.01 GB, which I did and that puts the visual 'disc' image on my computer. Once I open that, I open the adobe Photoshop CS6 folder and it starts to download but stops and says
'We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem"
Well that's funny when you click on that, it's discontinued. When I go to the support section, it doesn't help. Nor does the Phone representatives actually help with any Creative Suite products.The online chat though it is within hours, they aren't helping either. I have tried the CC cleaner app, which did nothing to alleviate my problem, and even actually tried download CC to see if it had the old version of photoshop on there-which it does not. As well as accessing the 'hidden' user library files to see if I could override with an install log if in case I had a faulty code. Which I could not find/did not seem to appear to be one. ( Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC)
What can I do for this to work? Am I missing something? I really need photoshop and I don't want creative cloud. I'd rather shoot myself in the head. And I am getting beyond frustrated, so I hope ya'll can help, you are my only hope. Thanks

Need help saving layer styles Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac (Mountain Lion)

I have been trying to learn Photoshop. I am using Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Macbook Pro (Mountain Lion). My Adobe software has been updated. I have been doing tutorials using a lot of layer styles. In one of these tutorials, it was suggested that if I would possibly want to use the style again that I should save it. At this point I had entered all my layer styles info and was still in the window with the list of layer styles on the left (bevel and emboss, drop shadow, etc., and the "New Style" button on the right. I clicked on the "New Style" button and when another window popped up asking me to name the style, I named it. When I looked at my styles in the styles panel, I saw the little button for the new style. I saved my graphic and closed it. Later I wanted to apply this style to text in another graphic. The style was used on text originally. When I clicked on it though the style didn't look the same. Upon investigation, a couple of setting under Bevel and Emboss had reverted to defaults. They were different numbers when I saved the style. I could go back in and change these two numbers and get the same results, but I don't understand why these numbers changed on their own -- why the style didn't completely "save." Is there something I have done wrong, or is this some kind of bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thank you very much for your reply! Yes, both documents were at 72 resolution. This morning I tried to save yet another style (same resolution document). It worked when I used it the first time. Then I switched to the other style I had saved. That one took some of the bevel and emboss settings from this morning's style. The numbers which will not save are the angle and altitude under the shading section. Just now I made another document (text at 72 resolution) and both styles had changed these numbers to 120 and 30. Is this something I am doing wrong? I am trying to use text of a similar font and size. I updated my software last night in the hopes that that would help. This morning I reset preferences. Don't know what to do! Thanks for helping me!

I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on MAC and Bridge does not open. It did open when I first downloaded it - but now a black question mark is over the BR icon and it does not open up. Any ideas from anyone?

I just thought it was interesting and helpful to me to learn that the icon for Bridge does not appear anywhere. Not in Application Folder. Not in the Finders Directory Files. I see your point - if I could locate that icon - I'd be set by dragging it onto my DOCK and launching it from there.
So - I'm assuming I need to uninstall CS6. Please list all the steps for me to uninstall so that I don't miss any CS6 files.
When I search in FINDER for CS6 uninstall- I see two icons - red adobe "UNINSTALL ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6" (both files are identical) Under KIND they both say Alias - with two different dates they were last opened (in November - few minutes apart). Is that what I use to uninstall completely all the files related to PS CS6 Extended as well as Bridge?
Do I need to DEACTIVATE ANYTHING ANYWHERE?
DOES ANYTHING NEED TO GO INTO TRASH.
I just want to make sure 'everything' related to CS6 Extended is off my computer and out of all the files. In the event i want to re-install - naturally I don't want to run into any conflicting 'issues'.
Do you think if I reinstall I will run into this same problem again (BR not launching)? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I note on the forums - going a few years back - that there have been a lot of issues related to this same problem - even in other versions of the Creative Suite. Is Adobe doing anything to rectify this problem for us Photoshop CS Suite lovers or is all their focus just going into CC?
Thank you so much for trying to help me resolve this issue. It is very frustrating to have an Adobe product that is not completely functional. Especially when the Creative Suites are so expensive. I appreciate all the time you've put into this issue.

Saving files in Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac)

I just got Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac) and am unable to save files (eg .psd) as a .jpg -- if I select the JPEG option, although that is ticked, it appears in the filename above as .gif or .eps WHY?? Also, why do I have to select 'Enable' and scroll down a huge list to 'All Readable Documents' before I can open, say, a JPEG? I've never had to do this in previous versions (and I've been using PS since v.2 -- not CS2 -- !) I am in RGB and 8-bit and the images are flattened. This is most frustrating. . .

Restoring/trashing the Preferences can alleviate some unexplainable Photoshop problems, but make sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved before performing that routine.

Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on a Mac i5

I installed the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on my Mac i5 and it installed as Abobe Photoshop CS6? (the standard version) I have tried everything but haven't been able to come up with an answer.

I don't have a 3D menu, it ended up installing as the standard version of CS6.
I had a copy of CS5 Extended prior to this trial version, that has been uninstalled and I have used the cleaner to get rid of all the left overs etc in other part of the drive.
The splash screen say Photoshop CS6 without the Extended.

Bonjour! Oui: il faudrait essayer de réinitialiser les préférences, en maintenant CTRL+SHIFT+ALT dès que l'on démarre Photoshop, ce qui supprime le fichier des préférence et le remplace par un nouveau. On doit alors obtenir un message qui demande si on veut recréer les préférences.
La réinstallation ne remplace pas ce fichier, et c'est lui qui peut être corrompu lors d'un arret fatal de la machine.
On peut le remplacer manuellement, en suivant les instructions de ce document remplacer évidemment CS5 par CS6: http://helpx.adobe.com/fr/photoshop/kb/preference-file-functions-names-locations.html
Les pilotes des cartes graphiques datent de Janvier. Y-a-t-il des mises à jour disponibles?

You didn't mention who told you you could transfer the software, but I suspect it was not anyone from Adobe. Versions are platform specific so there is little chance of installing the Windows version on a Mac without the use of a Windows emulator of some kind. Since it is CS6, you do have the option to apply for a platform swap. See the following...
