Photoshop CS6 is not showing any network drives within windows 8.1, I can only browse the local disk for files. Please advise?
And when i try opening a file directly from the network, photoshop starts but does not open the selected file?

The dialog you show there looks like it may be a CS6 open dialog running on windows 8.1 that is showing what is local.  Network is not highlighted selected.
Here is a CC Open one windows 7 pro showing  areas of what is accessible.

  • Photoshop CS6 taking lot of space in Temp file

    Hello,
My Photoshop CS6 created a 30GB temp file in the app data folder on the 1st partition (128GB SSD). Saving the project stopped at 98% as it says: full data volume.
Next i tried to put the temp file on the second hard disk (to do so i gave Photoshop the path to the 2nd hard drive under settings). Now it doesnt save the file anymore; it stops at 0%.
    My Hardware specs:
    Fujitsu Celsius W420 - Core i7 3770
    12GB Ram
    128GB SSD and 500GB HDD
    ATI Firepro - 1GB Vram
Is a 30Gb file too big for Photoshop?

Do you mean PS CS6 is occupying 30 GB of space while saving a particular document?
Does this happen with only that document or with other files as well?
Did you set that partition as Scratch disk?
What is the file size of that file and what does it contain?
Lets optimize PS for best performance and check. http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/gpu-opengl-support-photoshop-cs4.html

  • Trying to download Photoshop CS6 on a new HP convertible laptop with Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I purchased Photoshop CS6 a couple years back before CC was released. I just had to get a new computer because Best Buy majorly screwed up a simple repair on mine, and they junked my old computer and gave me a new one. It's a convertible HP running Windows 8.1. I'm trying to download and install CS6, but it isn't working. I've spent quite a few hours trying to figure this out, but nothing I'm doing seems to be working. This is what I've tried:
-First I downloaded the files from this page Download CS6 products and it looked like it started the setup and then the window went away and I couldn't find anything to get the process going again. I tried this twice, wasting 2-3 hours waiting for the files to download.
-Then I found this page Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps where it said if I download the Creative Cloud for desktop thing I would be able to download a previous version of Photoshop. Well, all that happened with this is that I now have a 30-day free trial of CC and the       only previous versions of programs available to download are Edge Animate and Gaming SDK. So yet another dead end.
I know it might probably be easier to just give in and go with CC but there's no way I can afford paying a subscription (I'm a recent college grad with student loans just starting to come due this month, living with my parents, and getting paid minimum wage). And I'm too stubborn to give up because I paid for CS6 and I should be able to use it. Because of that I can't/won't concede, and I'm asking you guys for help since apparently I'm not allowed to talk to customer service. I don't mean that I don't think you guys will be helpful, it's just incredibly irritating that I can't talk to customer support about this problem. So if you guys can't help me I'll be forced to find some other program that will suit my needs. So if anyone has any ideas that will help me download Photoshop CS6, please let me know and I will be eternally grateful!!
    Thanks a million,
    StoopidStephi

First thing to do is get the CC off your system.  Then try the direct download option linked below...
You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Photoshop CS6 a little 'jerky' when moving layers & resizing window (Macbook Pro Retina 650m)

As title says, when I open Photoshop CS6 and simple make a new layer and either use the type tool, it appears to be a little Sluggish/Jerky when moving the layer around.. The same applies when resizing photoshop itself.
I'm updated to the latest version of CS6 and have tried all the combinations in the 'Performance' section of Photoshop.
My Macbook Pro Retina is the 3.4ghz 650m and 8GB RAM offering (OS Mavericks). It's really annoying me as even my old laptop could run it smoothly and that was an i5 and much lower-end graphics card.
The only way I can really describe it (and i'm no tech professional) is when comparing it to silky smooth 60 fps, it looks like it's skipping frames and in term looking 'jerky'. I also use Illustrator and don't really witness the same problem with it.
I know this may have been asked quite a bit.. But I've never found the solution.. Could anybody advise me on what it potentially could be down too? (Might I add the laptop has just had a fresh install of the OS and a fresh copy of CS6)

You could check through the GPU FAQ for anything you might have missed
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq.html
You say you have tried all settings in Performance, but I wonder what your  cache levels are set at?  If more than 1, then OK.
There's the general performance FAQ (no doubt lots of overlap)
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/optimize-performance-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html
Is this with all image docs, or particular ones?  For instance I have been playing with using ACR to process 32bit HDR files, and it puts a huge load on the system.

  • Photoshop CS6 64 bit not working on 64 bit Window 8 computer

I am running on Window 8 (64 bit) but Photoshop CS6 extended 64 bit does not work.  Simply cannot open or create files and goes dead and I have to use task manager to stop it from running.  No problem with Illustrator 64 bit nor with Photoshop 32 bit.  I tried reinstall but still same problem.

Try deleting the 64 bit prefs and see if that makes a difference. Start by closing the program and go to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)
Hold down the three keys Ctrl+Alt+Shift (not Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and right-click on the Photoshop Application and choose open - see image - and release the three keys when you see the settings dialog. Click the Yes button and wait for CS6 to launch.

  • Photoshop CS6 installation with student licensing and moving to Windows 64 bit?

I purchased PS CS6 with student licensing. I was told that I can do two installations (or activations). My question is this: I am currently running Windows 7 32 bit, but I plan to reinstall Windows 7 64 bit later in order to increase my RAM. If I install CS6 now with 32 bit, is it considered a second activation if I reinstall it later under 64 bit, even if it is on the same machine?
    Thanks for any information.

You can install the PS CS6 on Windows 7 32 bit and use it , once you have to re-install the Windows 7 64 bit ,
Open Photoshop , Go to Help --> Deactivate
This will deactivate your existing actiavtion and then you can re-install PS on Windows 7 64 Bit , without loosing the activation count.

  • Photoshop CS6...will it run efficiently on Windows 8 Pro?????

I am assuming it will. The MS Combatibility site has the Win stamp of approval on it so I am guessing it does. Can not find any info on the Adobe end....

Hi. This forum is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop.  I'm moving your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum for specialized attention to your situation.

  • When starting Photoshop CS6 I get a popup "Photoshop CS6 has stopped Working"  What do I do?

I am running the 64-bit version.
I have updated Photoshop CS6 to latest version.
I have updated windows 7 to the latest release.
I have installed the latest drivers for my display.
I get the same problem when I try to startup CS5.
I have run this software for a long time without any issues including up to last week.  Now it does not work with no explanation.

How do I examine the viewer in Windows 7.  Your link takes me to XP.
When this first happened last night it gave me the message and powered down
my computer.  Today when I attempt it I get the message and when I click
the OK button it closes the application.

  • Windows 7/Bridge won't open files in Photoshop CS6 (cloud)

I recently got the cloud CS6 and installed photoshop cs6, then uninstalled CS5.5. But now, Windows Explorer cannot seem to find Photoshop. If I try to associate the default for any file (.jpeg, .tiff, etc.) with Photoshop, Photoshop does not show up on the list of programs. I must browse to find  Photoshop exe (CS6 64). I click okay, but it continues to open the file in Windows picture viewer and to associate that file type with Windows Picture Viewer.
If I right-click on the file, it does exactly the same thing. I must browse to Photoshop.exe. But it still opens the file in Windows Picture Viewer.
Fix 1 Try Bridge Associations: I opened Bridge CS6->Edit>Preferences and made sure the files were associated with photoshop. But, when I then try to open the files from within Bridge, I get the message Windows cannot find c:Program Files\Adobe\AdobePhotoshop CS4 (64Bit)\Photoshop.exe. (my emphasis)  But I haven't had CS4 installed for years. I did not have this problem when I installed CS5. So now I can't open files from either Windows explorer or Adobe Bridge.
Fix 2 Fix the Registry: So, I opened Regedit and went to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command, and changed the (Default) from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Photoshop.exe" "%1" . Don't know why the install left this at CS5.1. It SHOULD have changed it. EUREKA! Windows now recognizes Photoshop CS6 and I can associate files with it as usual. But I had to manually associate the native .psd file with Photoshop. along with .jpeg, .tiff and other image files.
No Fix for Bridge: But back in Bridge CS6, it's not so rosy. I still get Windows cannot find c:Program Files\Adobe\AdobePhotoshop CS4 (64Bit)\Photoshop.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. If I try File--Open with--Photoshop (default), I get the same message. Clearly, Bridge thinks Photoshop CS4 is the default, and I don't know where to change that association. Preferences does not allow browsing. So Bridge is pretty much useless.
So what should I do about Bridge?
Bridge CS6 still won't open Photoshop CS6. It's still looking for CS4. I thought about reinstalling Bridge, but when I try to download it, the cloud tells me it is is already installed and won't download. I am a little worried about uninstalling it and trying again. Maybe, I'll end up with no Bridge at all. I am beginning to regret my decision to go cloud. Don't know if the install mess is just cloud or noncloud versions as well. Doesn't seem to apply to all programs either.
    Postcript:
I had to go to the registry and manually change CS5.1 to CS6 for InDesign and Illustrator as well, and then manually associate .indd and .ai files with those programs. What a pain this is. Obviously, the install program didn't change the normal associations to CS6. Left them with the CS5, and then when I uninstalled that--as anyone would normally do--it lost the association completely.

Thank you David__B! Your suggestion worked perfectly. All the files are correctly associated in both Explorer and Bridge. And it didn't take all that long, mostly uninstalling. The Adobe App Manager very efficiently installs several different programs with very little fuss.
I am not sure, but I think it may have been an old plug-in to Bridge back in the CS4 era that I didn't even know I had that was causing the Bridge file association problems. Uninstalling CS5 after installing CS6 seems to be causing Win Explorer problems, not just for me.  Based on this experience, I would recommend that anyone with several previous installations of Adobe CS do the following:
Save your plugins and preference files in a back up file.
Uninstall all the old adobe software.
Run the the cleaner you suggested. (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html).
Install CS6 programs from the CCloud or wherever.
Add your plug-ins back in as you need them one at a time to be sure they work.
If you have already installed CS6 and are having file association problems, just uninstall everything and start at step one. You probably won't save time trying to fix the registry and manually associate file types--- yada yada yada.
Steps 1-6 will give you a nice clean install and salvage only  good plug-ins.

  • Photoshop CS6 Extended Slow Load ("Measuring Memory...")

    Hi guys!
Sorry English is not my native language.
I am run Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit (from design premium) on Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
When I first start PS, it looks like it freeze on the text "Measuring Memory". If I wait for about 30 seconds, it will eventually load and everything works fine. No issues with Save for Web or anything.
I have read the other threads on this and tried all of these solutions:
Checked my ram in memtest (15 passes, no error)
    Trash preferences and open again
    Un-install and re-install (tried twice)
Updated PS to latest with Adobe Update
    Reboot machine
This happen when I first run Windows, so lack of RAM is not the issue. I have no printers, other hard drive, or remote network drive attached to machine. Scratched disk is set to the boot disk (C:\)
If it help, Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 load normally.
Do you have any suggestions to fix this? Thank you!
    Richard Montouchet

Congratulations on having such a huge amount of memory that it takes 30 seconds to measure it all!    Just kidding - sorry.
You've done all the things a reasonable person would do...  Some other things I might suggest are:
    1.  Check to ensure your display driver is up to date - go to the web site of the maker of your video card, not Microsoft.
    2.  Try disabling the Use Graphics Processor setting in Edit - Preferences - Performance, and restart Photoshop.
    3.  Remove any 3rd party plug-ins (reinstall won't remove plug-ins, so I thought I'd mention it).
    4.  Check to see if you have the same behavior with the 32 bit Photoshop as the 64 bit Photoshop.

  • Can I buy "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended", choose the platform "Windows" and then install it both on a Windows PC and as second installation on a MacBook Pro (on OS X)?

    Hello everyone,
I want to buy "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended" but have to choose a platform (Windows OR Mac) during the buying process. When I buy Photoshop, I'm allowed to install it on a second Computer, but use just one copy at the same time.
Is it possible to install the same licence both with the Windows PC and a MacBook Pro with OS X on it?
    Thanks!
    Sincerely,
    Mo

a ps license allows either 2 pc or 2 mac installations.  to install on both mac and pc, you must purchase two licenses, or subscribe to adobe cc which does allow 1 pc and 1 mac installation for all adobe programs.

  • Constant Adobe Photoshop CS6 Crashes

Hello there, today I have been experiencing multiple crashes from my Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended program.
I am running a Windows 7 64bit computer, and just get the message, "Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended has stopped working" and no crash report is given to me or saved that I know of.
I reset my preferences, but that did not fix the issue. It is also probably not a performance issue, I have 64gb`s of ram and an Nvidia 680 gpu, plus Photoshop has worked fine for me for a long time.
Before I reset my preferences I thought it may have been a plugin I had called Coolorus, but I disabled it and that didn't help anything.
When I open Photoshop there is a recovered file from the past of what I was currently working on, I'm not sure if that info helps at all.
My version of Photoshop CS6 Extended is: 13.0.1 x64. (Not sure if that's the latest version since I don't think CS6 Extended was listed in the update list, and my update manager says there aren't any updates.)
If I may not be looking in the right places for the crash report please tell me, and if anyone has a resolution with just this info, please tell me (pretty sure it's not enough though.)
Thank you for the help! ^^

I am not able to open my CR2 files (from a Canon 70D camera) in my Photoshop CS6 via camera raw. The pop up window suggested updates, which I did, and the problem persists. Any suggestions?

Which operating system are you using?
You tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get the camera raw update, either 8.3 (windows xp and vista and mac os x 10.6.8)  or 9.0 (all other operating systems)

I leave my computer on all day.  This is a new system Windows 7 Pro, 6 core i7 64 bit, 32MB of ram.  Using CS 6 64 bit as well.  I've had two crashes happen while being away from the house when returning to my computer and logging back on I have a crash message from Photoshop and have to ok and let the application close.  I have to note that my Windows 7 system logs off by itself after a long time of inactivity and I just log on myself again.  I have other application open like Windows  live Mail, 3D Coat and DAZ Studio but so far no crash with those, the only one seems to be Photoshop CS6.  Here's the two reports from Windows Event Viewer:

Hmm, now I can reply!!!  Looks like the forum was acting up on me before and I could log on but couldn't post.  Anyways I read your PM and answered.  I've had crashes on other applications and I think my crash is not related to Photoshop but Windows 7 power saving configuration since the application in front is the one that crashes when Windows wakes up.  This is how I get to the General report.
in Event Viewer I went thru Event Viewer (Local) then Custom Views and then Administrative Events. Then I have two tabs, one says "General" and the other Says "Details". The "General" tab is the one that has the format you want. Please let me know if I can help you further.
For continuity sake this is the new crash I had, these "on wake up crashes" started to happen after I upgraded my cable modem.
