Photoshop CS6 Immediately Freezes
Hello,
I'm having issues with the 64-bit version of Photoshop CS6. Immediately after attempting to open an existing file or create a new one, Photoshop completely freezes, with no error messages/dialogues, and I end up having to force close it from Windows Task Manager. This happens every single time. I had this same issue with the beta, and it continues into the full release. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing it multiple times to no avail.
I haven't had this issue with previous versions of Photoshop (CS 5 & 5.5), and the 32-bit version of CS6 runs fine. However, for obvious reasons, I would prefer to use the 64-bit version of the software to take full advantage of what my machine is capable of.
I'm running this on a HP Envy 17 laptop, with an Intel Core i7 processor (1st-gen), an AMD Radeon HD 5850M graphics card, and 8GB of RAM.
I don't want to spend the money on it until I can be sure that it will run properly on my computer, so any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
64-bit version completely freezes when trying to do anything. So I also had to do it from the 32-bit version of Photoshop. I imagine Pattont85's system info and my own are largely the same.

Photoshop CS6 intermittently freezes with no error
Photoshop CS6 periodically freezes on my iMac running 10.9.5. It did the same thing on 10.9.4. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling; this did not help. I don't use any plug-ins and haven't modified Preferences. When it freezes, there is no error message, but I cannot move the main Photoshop window, nor can I click on any buttons or move sliders or use any of the options in panels. Curiously, I can pull down menus in the top menu bar (File, Edit, Image, etc.) but since these menu options open dialog boxes that are not functional, I'm pretty much dead-in-the-water.
If I open the Force Quit Applications window (Cmd-Option-Esc), Photoshop looks like it is running normally, i.e. it doesn't say "Not Responding". If I Force Quit anyway and restart, Photoshop behaves normally for a while (time varies) and then freezes again.
This behavior does not seem to be associated with any particular action or command that I can discern. If I don't Force Quit, then Photoshop eventually recovers on its own and starts working normally for awhile before freezing again. Anyone have suggestions for corrective steps?BOILERPLATE TEXT:

Photoshop CS6 keeps freezing when I work with large files
I've had problems with Photoshop CS6 freezing on me and giving me RAM and Scratch Disk alerts/warnings ever since I upgraded to Windows 8. This usually only happens when I work with large files, however once I work with a large file, I can't seem to work with any file at all that day. Today however I have received my first error in which Photoshop says that it has stopped working. I thought that if I post this event info about the error, it might be of some help to someone to try to help me. The log info is as follows:

I really hope to hear from someone soon, my job requires me to work with Photoshop every day and I run into errors and bugs almost constantly and all of the help I've received so far from people in my office doesn't seem to make much difference at all. Photoshop CS6 Bridge freezes on loading image into Photoshop
CS6 Bridge, text in the Folder window freezes following loading of an image from Bridge into PhotosShop CS6. Bridge is render useless. Closing Photoshop frees up Bridge. Bridge does not refresh the type in the folders window and occassionaly leaves partial tiles of images in the content window. This occures esch time an image is loaded from Bridge into Photoshop.
Photoshop CS6 & Bridge were updated at 11:47 AM PST today 2012-12-07

I have the latest video drive for Win-7 64x.
Thank you for the tip, in searching for the driver info I discovered under "Start" > "All Programs" > "Nvidia Corporation" > "3D Vision" > "Disable 3D Vision". By disabling the "3D Vision" in this "All Programs" menu cured the problem. Kind of a strange place for a "switch".
Sure hope that this helps someone else as this was a very frustrating problem!

Photoshop CS6 temporarily freezes
Hello,
Basically PS is freezing up temporarily, after 2-3 minutes then it becomes usaable again until it decides to feeze again. I do most of my editing in Lightroom, and only use PS because I like to just do soem finally touch ups if needed (bit of dodge/burn) and i like to use photokit sharpener (I like to brush in sharpening with actions i have created).
So, i can't say for sure what initiates the freezing. Sometiems its while trying to brush in sharpening, other times it won't allow me to save.
I'm on Mac using Snow Leopard. 4Gb RAM. I use a logitech mouse. (I've seen people using some kind of tablet that causes them issues.) I had previous been using CS4 with zero problems.
I've tried unchecking "save in backgrorund" as well as "use graphics processor"
I'm not sure what else I can do, any help is greatly appreciated as this freezing is slowing down my workflow.

I'm having a continual issue with Photoshop CS6 (13.0.6 x64) completely freezing my MacBook Pro when doing the following action:
Edit > Transform > Scale
I am able to use this action instead without any issues:
Edit > Free Transform
About my Mac:
OS X Yosemite 10.10
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MBIf the whole computer freezes (can't force quit, have to reboot), then you are looking at an OS bug, a low level driver bug, or defective hardware.
Applications cannot cause a system hang, shutdown, or restart.
Given that MacOS 10.10 is a new OS version with a number of unsolved issues, it is most likely a driver or OS bug that you are hitting. -
Since installing Mavericks Photoshop CS6 is freezing all keyboard communication every 3 or 4 minutes
Hi, a couple of days ago I installed Mavericks onto an imac running 16gb ram, 3.4ghz HD. I'm running Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.5 & using a wacom with the latest drivers 6.3.7-3. I've had no issues previously but since installing Mavericks every 3 or 4 minutes communication is lost with the keyboard. By that I mean Photoshop will no longer respond to any keyboard shortcuts. I can keep working in Photoshop, it does not freeze completely but I'm locked into the tool i'm using unable to zoom in/out or any other task via the keyboard .If I exit the app and then return to it the keyboard functionality returns also. I am also able to jiggle the keyboard back into action by clicking away form the work area and onto another palette. Returning to the work area brings back the keyboard. Bluetooth keyboard & batteries changed too.
I've tried disabling the background save and also the graphics processor but with no success. Has anyone experienced anything similar and found a solution? Working is Photoshop has become a real drag as the workflow is broken every few minutes. Any help MUCH appreciated.

There are 3 MAJOR bugs for those working deep into photoshop on Mavericks. The keyboards freezes, the auto completion on the Polygonal Lasso tool, and the sudden blank menus. I have made several threads about this in these forums and I´ve tried sending bug reports to Adobe and Wacom. But no response! Now im a disappointed paying CC customer.
So, I´ve reverted back to Mountain Lion, which I don´t regret for a second. I can confirm all of the bugs went away. And not only that, Photoshop also performs better, its more snappy as well (I almost forgot how it is working with a bug free Photoshop, its like getting a new operating system ). I will not upgrade to Mavericks before all of these bugs are fixed, but with the response I got that might as well never happen. Wonder what I should do when buying a new computer?
ANyway, I recommend you revert to Mountain Lion if you want Photoshop to work properly, Adobe hasn´t given any indication that they are working on these bugs. -
Every time I try to open an image in Photoshop CS6 it freezes.

Photoshop CS6 Randomly Freezing
It started when I updated my Mac to 10.9.1. I'll be using my brush and use a keyboard shortcut to change tools. It'll keep using the brush but it won't register the keyboard shortcut. I have to click the tool with the stylus or mouse and then it suddenly catches up. This happens every few minutes, occaissionally the shortcut will work. Keyboard works everywhere else. Not only that, but when I switch to another application, and return to photoshop, nothing registers. It won't register I'm trying to use it until I swap open applications a few times before returning to photoshop. Its slowing down my work. Not even sure if its related to the Mac update. CS6 is updated.
This sounds like other problems people are experiencing with MacOS 10.9.

Photoshop CS6 freezes when using Liquify filter
Hi,
sorry for starting this topic again, but reading other discussions didn't help. THe problem is that Photoshop freezes when I use Liquify filter. It is enough just to open it and then click cancel - the Photoshop gets stucked immediately. I have never had such problem before, ran the whole Creative Suite 6 succesfully on my laptop, but after I reinstalled system using an old system image, it is not working properly.
I have Photoshop CS6, Windows 7 64 bit and I have Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 integrated and NVIDIA GeForce GT540M external graphics cards. I am forcing the laptop to use NVIDIA only for everything, also I force Photoshop itself to start with NVIDIA GPU. Nothing helped.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!Is it possible the old system image had an old video card driver or you are not running the latest CS6 update? I would first check to be certain you have all the latest CS6 and video card updates.

Edit in Photoshop CS6 from LR 4.1 Causes PS to Freeze
I have uninstalled PS CS6 and Lightroom and reinstalled PS CS6 then LR4.1. When I select EDIT IN Photoshop CS6, PS opens but freezes after a few seconds and the file is never transferred into PS. Files will open when I select other 3rd party editors like Photomatix Pro.

Photoshop CS6 freezes upon opening
Running CS6 64-bit on a Windows 7 machine. Everything is updated, and it was working fine yesterday and every day before for the 2 months we've been running it on this machine. New today:
Open Photoshop and it opens the window but you can't click anything. It's like a pretty image file of what your PS experience would look like. Can't close it because even the little red X doesn't register as anything. Have to force quit from Task Manager. Restarted the system (full shut down, pause, start, not just a system restart).
Deleted the Preferences file and restarted the system. That kind of helped. Now we can open and click around for about 25 seconds. That's enough time to change my performance preferences and close the program before it freezes. So I did that and restarted the system. No change. I can also open the "open file" dialogue, but the second that opens, everything freezes back into that pretty picture of what it would look like if I were to be using PS.
Nothing else on the system freezes while PS is frozen. I can do webby stuff and work in other Adobe programs, check my email, dig around in my explorer, pretty much anything I want as long as it isn't PS.
Exception: If I open Bridge, I can use it just fine until I try to open a file from Bridge in Photoshop. Then both programs freeze until I force quit PS. After that, Bridge is happy again. If I try to use Bridge to run a PS process, I get the message window that PS is currently running another process, would I like to queue this one. No matter what I hit, everything gets angry until I force quit Photoshop.
I spoke to a nice man on the customer service line who was very good at reading suggestions like delete preferences or completely reinstall the suite from his list of fixes, but didn't seem to understand at all what I was asking him. So I turn to you, oh forum of knowledge. Anyone know how to fix this? We've reinstalled video drivers. We're currently trying running a repair off the Windows OS disk.
We would like to not have to uninstall and reinstall the whole suite. Everything else works great. AE is happy, Illustrator is happy, Bridge is happy so long as we don't make it talk to PS. If there's a way to just reinstall or run a repair on PS without affecting the rest of the suite, that would be an option too.Hello,
I've got similar problem,
When I turn on my compagny computer everything is alright. Photoshop CS6 13.0 x32 start correctly. i can work on picture as expected.
But during the day, Photoshop doesn't want to open other file (any file).
I can work on with a picture that still open and save it, but can not open anything else.
Restart Photoshop doesn't work.
I must reboot the computer to correct this and open other file.
I'm on windows 7 SP1 with administrator rights
No plugin installed, I'm a beginner with Photoshop

Photoshop CS6 freezing on Mac OS 10.6.8
Hi one of our Macs (OS 10.6.8) is freezing when we try using Marquee Selection or Feathering or Cut and Pasting in a PSD file using Photoshop CS6. Basically we have to hard reboot the Mac as we get no error message, just a locked up computer. All the other Macs are exactly the same but don't have this issue.
The file has no fonts in it, it is just an image with Layers that have no Effects. File size is 900MB.
All updates for both CS6 and Mac OS have been run and all is up to date.
Please advise.Here are the base specs (serial info deleted). We're running the file off the hard drive and there are no additonal plugins. We use a standard font library but as I said, file has no text/fonts in it. It's completely locking up while using the marquee selection tool.
Cleared user preferences too when starting PS.
Gonna try a fresh reinstall and see if that fixes it, if it doesn't I think there is something wrong with the Mac itself because we have 6 more identical machines and they are not having this issue.
