Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcuts in PSE 12

Has the structure of the .kys file changed in CS6?  I used to be able to use the keyboard shortcuts from CS5 with my wife's laptop.  We recently went to CS6 on my desktop and PSE 12 on her laptop, and now the keyboard shortcuts that I try to copy from CS6 to PSE not only don't work, but are deleted by PSE as it exits.  I've put an old keyboard shortcuts.psp file that I had from CS5, and it works fine and doesn't get deleted.
If my conclusion that the shortcuts are different and incompatible is correct, is there any workaround?
I'm using Windows 7.  Thanks!

It looks like the shortcuts from cs6 won't work in pse 12 and they don't work in photoshop cs5 either, so adobe must have changed something.
Anyway, it's probably best to use the keyboard shortcuts from photoshop cs5, since pse 12 is mostly based on the photoshop cs5 code.
This the message one gets in photoshop cs5 when trying to load a keyboard shortcuts file saved out of photoshop cs6.

  • Photoshop CS6 keyboard shortcut not working -- what is this red bar tool?

I want Ctrl+Shift+S to do SAVE AS.  I set it as such in the keyboard shortcuts, but when I do that key combo, all I get is this:
What is this thing?  The mouse pointer changes to this.  I can move it around and draw a box (in the background of PS, outside any open images).  I have no idea what it is, but I want it to go away and do SAVE AS instead.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

Hi Globe199, PS already has this shortcut for Save As by default as shown below.
Have you changed something in Keyboard Shortcuts ?

  • PS CS6 keyboard shortcuts aren't!

The shortcuts work to an extent. That is, for instance if I hit M for marquee I get the marquee. BUT if I hit M again it won't change to the next one. And it's the same for all shortcuts. I have to mouse to the icon to change it. What gives? Is there a setting I'm missing?

For a reference to Adobe Photoshop's keyboard shortcuts, take a look at the new Photoshop CS6 Quick Reference Guide. It is in its beta form, but it is a great way to find shortcuts, as well as find a menu location that might have changed from CS5. We are looking for your feedback, which you can contribute on the site as well.

    Hi,
    This might help:
Adobe Forums: Finding and customizing keyboard shortcuts
In Lion you will need to find a way to get into the Library folder which is hidden. One methode would be to use the Goto command and paste the thread: (your main harddrive name)/users/userfolder/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Pro/6.0
If that doesn't work right away then reduce the thread back until your in the hiden Library folder and then look for a Premiere Pro folder.
    Cheers,

  • Trouble loading custom saved Premiere Pro CS6 keyboard shortcuts

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having trouble loading custom saved Premiere Pro CS6 keyboard shortcuts. I have a saved .kys set-up file but there is no load button visible in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog. It took a while to make the shortcuts. Very frustrating. Any tips appreciated.
    Thanks,
    FB

IIRC ..the "load" is done from a drop down menu giving you the choices of the Default Presets as well as your custom set.  NAmed as per  "whatever.kys"
Did you create them in your current Premiere or are you importing them from elsewhere?

  • Photoshop CS6 Problems- Shortcuts are Stuck! Lasso Does Not Work!

Hi there! I'm a Mac user with a Cintiq 12WX tablet, and I just upgraded to Photoshop CS6. I use it primarily for art, but I've come across some problems that have really interrupted my workflow. A lot of the time, certain functions seem to not work or get stuck. Here are my problems specifically:
    1. My Undo shortcut is set to Command+Z. Some of the time it works fine, but most of the time I keep hitting the command and nothing happens! So if I want to delete a brush stroke, I usually have to tap multiple with my stylus and make more strokes in order to get Undo to work. Frustrating!
    2. The lasso tool works sometimes, but a lot of the time it doesn't select anything. So I have to keep repeating the stroke until it does select.
    3. Sometimes, the keyboard shortcuts just don't work! And even if a tool is selected, I can't do anything with it!
These problems are all completely random, I have no idea what triggers them. I've read of other people having similar problems, but I have yet to find a solution. Nothing like this happened in CS5. Does anybody know how to help me? I make me living with art and these problems have really slowed me down. Thank you!

What OS Version are you using?
It sounds like you are on MaCOS, did you install the WhiteWindowWorkaround plugin to avoid the known MacOS bugs?

  • Photoshop CS6 - undo shortcut issues

I am using Photoshop CS6 on Mac OSX 10.10. When I attempt to use the undo shortcut (Command Z), it only sometimes works. If it doesn't work, I have to manually go to Edit - Undo. Is there a fix for this?

Just troubleshoot your system.  The problem is on your end.
If you updated or upgraded to the foul Yosemite 10.10 after Photoshop CS6 was installed, Yosemite damaged Photoshop.  The remedy is to uninstall CS6 and re-install it, then update it to Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6.
Of course, it could be a faulty keyboard or who knows what else.

  • CS6 - Keyboard Shortcuts Stop Working (Win7x64)

I'm running Win7x64, just formatted my system a few weeks ago and installed everything, all updates, as well as Adobe CS6 and all of it's updates.
My Photoshop CS6 is running 13.0.1.1, and is now experiencing this issue. Used it for almost a year without issues before.
I'm using the default workspace, I added Actions to the right side toolbar and that's it. When I started having this issue, I closed off the panels along the bottom (ie. minibridge) and went into preferences-plugins and disabled the 2 items under extension panels, as per another thread I saw.
It'll work fine, then quit. Sometimes simply closing and reopening the file fixes it, mostly I have to close Photoshop completely and reopen.
I have an older Wacom Bamboo tablet, which I've unplugged but makes no difference.
Seen a LOT of posts for this, not many solutions apart from updating Photoshop and disabling minibridge, which I've done. I've also seen threads as far back as CS4 about this problem so, surprised it's still an issue.
    Any solutions?

    Wow... helpful forum.
Well, for someone else who may have the same issue (which seems to be a decent amount) I think I fixed my problem.
In WinXP, I had a few keyboard issues which I figured out. When I install WinXP I click Canadian English. After everything is installed, under the keyboards/language settings, it would show the default US keyboard, the Canadain English, and it would for whatever reason always add in Canadian French. Deleting the French fixed my issues because I think with all the key-combos used in Photoshop shortcuts the language was getting switched... think default switch is 'LEFTALT+SHIFT'... which I use all the time when cropping.
As a habit I always deleted the French one after an install. Win7 was the same, but didn't see French last time so didn't delete anything. Last installtion however I used a new disc. Win7 with SP1... checked under keyboards/languages and the default US was there, and the Canadian now shows as Multilingual.
Deleted the Multilingual and just left the US default only, and after a week I have had no issues.

  • InDesign CS6 Keyboard Shortcuts

I use Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 extensively, and as I am finally coming around to use InDesign CS6 as well I'm finding it to be very disappointing in the keyboard shortcut functionality. I'm wondering if this is a bug, working as intended, or simply something I need help figuring out how to work with properly. I'm running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, and all my CS6 applications are fully up-to-date.
My main issues are these -
Using view shortcuts with a 0 or 1 (such as ctrl-0/1, ctrl-alt-0, and ctrl-alt-shift-0) requires me to use the number strip at the top of the keyboard, whereas with Photoshop and Illustrator I'm able to use the much more desirable numpad keys.
I'm unable to change these hotkeys properly, as when I create a new keyboard shortcut set based on default, and go to add/change these shortcuts, the ctrl alt and shift keys are disabled. So even though I can set numpad keys the lack of function keys renders this functionality completely useless.
This is extremely frustrating and I would appreciate any help in remedying the situation, thanks.

The MODIFIER (Ctrl,Alt, Shift) keys should be working, in combination, with any other keys for making shortcuts, but they don't "register" in the dialog until you press and hold them in combination with another key. They don't work if you press and release before picking the next key. As mentioned, the Numpad keys are reserved for styles.

  • Another "edit in photoshop" and keyboard shortcut question

I have both PSCS6 32 bit and 64 bit installed on my computer (usual default installation). When I next installed LR4, it automatically picked PSCS6 64 bit as the default external editor without asking my preference.
I always use PSCS6 32 bit and not the 64 bit version.
While I can add the PSCS6 32 bit program as an "additional external editor" and access it from a right click contextual menu for editing an image from LR4, I cannot use the convenient Ctrl + E keyboard shortcut since that will always launch the unwanted PSCS6 64 bit program.
Is there a way to reestablish this keyboard shortcut convenience for my 32 bit program?
    Thanks in advance!
    OS: Windows 7 professional

    Scott,
There is a registry hack you could try:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
That's for making PS show up when it doesn't show up at all, but there's a place to add the path to the executable that you could modify to point to the 32-bit version. You might want to do a checkpoint for System Restore before you start.

  • CS6 - keyboard shortcuts problem

in CS6 the basic keyboard shortcuts such as CommandC,A and V are either slow in working, have to be keyed in twice or are not working and have to be selected from the drop down menu. What's up with this?
    On a Mac OSX 10.6.8.
    Thanks for any help...

It's something specific to your system, but you don't give us nearly enough information to help you.
Maybe you spilled some soda on your keyboard.

  • Photoshop CC - keyboard shortcut unit increments

Hi everyone. InDesign and Illustrator both have the options in their preferences to set unit increments that relate to altering type attributes such as font size, kerning, tracking, leading with keyboard shortcuts. For instance I like to be able to adjust tracking by 1/1000 em, leading by 1pt etc.
However, I can't find any way to set Photoshop up to do a similar thing. It defaults to 20/1000 em tracking increment. Anybody know a way to change that I don't?
    Cheers
    Keith

Have you tried a different keyboard to exclude a defective Option key?
How did you delete the Photoshop preferences.  If you did that manually (very bad idea) try it the proper way:
Preference filenames and locations in Photoshop CC
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"

  • Photoshop CS5 Keyboard shortcut for 2up view?

In older version, window > arange > tile, gave me side by side tile of windows. In CS5 it defaults to above and below. I know I can simply click the Arange Documents and then 2up but I use this very frequent and would like to have a simple keyboard shortcut for it. Can this default be changed if not...? I can not find the 2up layout item in the keyboard shortcuts and have tried setting up a action but can not seem to get that to work. Can anyone help? I use this all day to compare images and all of my images fit best side by side. Help?

i dont want to use the application frame either just to get 2-up functionality. I dont think users should be forced to use a differnt workspace. the app frame takes up space and doesnt even really work correctly when you move panels around. either way it would be great to have the same view optoins in the menus that are now exclusive to the app frame. if you feel strongly about it - post a request on adobe's new feedback site. this is wehre they are mostly listening to users requests now.

  • PS CS6 Keyboard Shortcuts in Spreadsheet Form?

I know there are lots of sources for keyboard shortcuts in PDF form.  But I was hoping someone might know of a source for a list (or summarized) shortcuts tabularted in spreadsheet form (or exportable to a spreadsheet).  Thanks.

Thanks.  I never knew you could do that directly from htm file.  it gets me much, much closer to what i need with huge savings on typing of shortcut items.  I'm going to work on creating a spreadsheet that makes finding unused shortcuts easier (for future keyboard assignments).  Thanks again.
