Photoshop CS6 Magic Wand

Hi,
When I select the area with magic wand tool and refilled, the edge of the selection is way rougher than before.
This is before refilled.

How can I fix this?

I'm quite interested in the story about alising.
Could you tell me what and how I improve this?

Photoshop CS3 Magic Wand bug?

I'm want to use photoshop CS3's magic wand tool to make a selection of a colored shape on my background layer.
However when I click the mouse, the wand selects EVERYTHING on the layer. it doesn't matter what my tolerance level is set to. I've tried cranking it down to 0 and I still get everything selected.
Is this a bug? or am I doing something wrong?

The eye dropper sample size setting will affect how the magic wand operates. CS3 added some new sample sizes. Have you by chance been testing them out? If so, the cure might be as easy as changing your eye dropper sample setting.

I've been using Photoshop for maybe nine years now, but obviously that's not quite enough. I don't know how it is that I've never noticed the relationship between the eye dropper and wand tool before.
I think the wand tool sample size should be independent of the eye dropper tool sample size. It should be something you can change explicitly from the wand tool's option bar. Tying those two otherwise completely unrelated tools together in that way is unintuitive.
Anyway, thanks. I'm just happy to be able to use the wand again.

Is it possible to find and retrieve the pixel coordinates of a polygon image? Perhaps using Magic Wand and Paths?

I want to create a complicated polygonal hotspot around the map of many countries of the world in Dreamweaver (eg. a hotspot around the US border), but don't want to spend the time tediously selecting the coordinates around the border.
i.e. the code in Dreamweaver would be something like this

maybe it is not a feasible way!
i have loading a image size of 150*50,
when i use getPixelColor() method as follow,it used almost 40 seconds to end it.it get correct info of every pixels,but too slow. say nothing of analysis the pixels and catch a selection.

Photoshop CS 5 - Magic Wand Tool Problem

When I use the magic wand in Photoshop CS5, it selects the entire image, not just the section I'm hovering over. I'm working in a Windows environment.
Any suggestions?

Try resetting the magic wand tool by right clicking on the magic wand icon in the tool options bar and choosing reset tool.
Also check what the sample size is set for the eyedropper tool (that effects the magic wand)
You probably want one of the first three settings.

Are you familiar with how Photoshop groups tools in the toolbar?
If you hover your mouse over any tool with a tiny black arrow in the bottom RHS of the button - then left-click and hold - the buttons grouped (not visible) under that button will appear in a dropdown menu.
Hover over the Quick Selection tool, left click and hold and you'll see that you can then select the Magic Wand tool

Hello! I've got the new Adobe Creative Suite for Student and am working with Photoshop CC at the minute but cannot find the Magic Wand Tool anywhere... is it not in this version, or is it hiding somewhere... can't locate it. Please help?

I recently purchased PS CS6, successfully downloaded and installed it. However there is no magic wand tool in my list of tools on the left - all of the others seem to be there - has this tool been removed from CS6? It was certainly there is the earlier versions and I find it a very uselful tool.

I am new to Photoshop CC. I am trying to use the magic wand to highlight a dull sky, and it is just making a weird selection that has nothing to do with my photo

I am trying to use the Magic Wand to highlight a dull sky so that I can add something more interesting.
When I try to isolate this area, the magic wand seems to just make a random selection throughout my photo.
I have anit-alias on, and my tolerance is at 5.

First, is the layer containing the photo of the sky selected? That might help.
But there are probably better ways to make selections than the magic wand, depending on the value ranges in the sky you wish to select.
Try Color Range, Quick Mask, or manual selections using the Polygon Lasso Tool, or combinations of all of the above.
You can also paint your selection on an additional layer (using brushes), and convert the painted area to a selection, make a channel of that selection, and refine manually.

Why can't I delete a selection when I am using magic wand in Photoshop CS4?

I know I've done this before. I want to select part of an image using magic wand, then delete it, so that the background is transparent. The selection will not delete. Do I have some weird setting picked? Thanks!

Did you convert the background into a layer before pressing delete? (by double clicking the background layer in your layers pallete)
otherwise, pressing delete will simply fill the selection with your current background color.

Magic Wand help (Photoshop CS5)

Hi guys, I wondered if anyone can help me.
I have used the Magic Wand for a couple of years, taking out backgrounds etc to create transparent GIFs.
Now when I use it, the edges of whatever I have cut out are always jagged.
Does anyone know what this could be? I have anti-aliasing checked at the top, and haven't changed anything that I know of.
It seems to get worse when the image is resized and made smaller also.
Any help appreciated!

Coloring issues with magic wand tool and paint bucket tool, leaves uncolored areas near drawn lines

Photoshop CS6 doesn't color properly. Whetever I use brush tool or elliptical marquee tool to do the lines (with brush tool I use Hard Round, not soft), it doesn't color the whole area when i fill them with color. This happens with both magic wand tool AND paint bucket tool, there is always a small uncolored area near the lines. I have tolerance on 30, and anti-alias, contiguous and sample all layers boxes checked. (this setting worked on my old CS3) I have tried tolerance from 0 to 100, no difference. I have also tried unchecking the boxes I just mentioned, still no difference. I hope there is a solution for this, because it is tedious to always go to the Select - Modify - Expand every time I need to color some area. So how do I fix this problem? I use seperate layers for lines and colors, like I have always done with other Photoshop versions. Even in school where they have CS5 those normal settings work.

I don't think this is a "user error". I think Adobe should be able to program a state of the art paint bucket, which is capable to get this done right.
Other applications are able to get this done right.
Please don't fall into a programmer's ignorance ("this is done right by definition") but listen to us artists and improve this unintuitive behavior. Add something like "ignore transparent pixels", because this doesn't even work if you draw on an empty layer.
