Photoshop CS6: No entry point found?

For seven days I had to redownload a trial version of Photoshop CS6! I continue to receive the same service message stating: "Entry Point link cannot be found". In the past I have downloaded Photoshop Elements and I had no problems. I plan to purchase photoshop after my trial but now after what I am encountering I'm having some second thoughts. If you are able to help me fix the problem I'd greatly appreciate it!
I am downloading on a Windows XP!

Could you provide some details about your computer and which service pack of Windows XP are you using?
From the sound of it, it seems that it might either be an incomplete install or perhaps unsupported hardware issue.
You could have a look at the Tech Specs just to be sure that your computer meets the system requirements: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/tech-specs.html
You could also try uninstalling and re-installing the software.

  • Launching CS6 - procedure entry point

    Hi,
I installed PS CS6 Extended and didn't get any error messages. But when I try to launch the programm, the error <<The procedure entry point "GetLogicalProcessorInformation" could not be found in the DLL "KERNEL32.dll.">> occurs and PS doesn't start.
I use Win XP SP 3, Windows Update tells me that there aren't any more updates for my system and I didn't have any older version of PS installed previously. Also deinstalling and reinstalling CS6 doesn't help. Could you please help me?

    Hi,
the problem is solved. I did have SP3, but I installed it long time ago (the kernel32.dll was a version of 2006). I deinstalled the service pack and reinstalled the latest version of it I got from the microsoft web site. Now the kernel32.dll is a version of 2008 and after reinstalling CS6 works too.
Thus you don't just need SP3, you seem to need the latest version of it. I didn't even know that there are different versions of SP3.
    Thanks a lot guys,

  • Photoshop CS6 clear anchor point

    Hi
    Small problem with paths :/
Clearing anchor point so that it's cuts the path line also to the next anchor (like point to point, cuts segment of path) not the whole path...
Sometimes it works using delete or backspace But no clue why does not always work ? and getting work is like F* hell
Is there some option or is it just CS6 problem

Seems to be a systemic issue with Photoshop CS6.
The Direct Selection Tool is supposed to select one point in a path, but I find, like you, that it can get into a mode where it's as though all the other points are selected and remain selected.  This leads to you deleting the entire path.
When it's working "correctly", clicking a point with the Direct Selection tool will make that path point black and show both handles, while the two points to either side will show as squares with a light center and only one handle exposed.  Clicking another point will change the "focus" to that point, and make the prior selected point have a light square, indicating it's no longer selected.  When it's working like this, I can delete one point.
But once I delete a point the behavior reverts to the bad one you're describing, where clicking on a point leaves all the points black and shows both handles of the point clicked AND any other ones clicked (sort of like if the shift key is down or something).  At that time pressing Delete will clear all of the points - deleting the entire path.
As I don't use paths as much as some, so I've never thought to report it as a bug.
Edit:  I've just reproduced the same behavior in Photoshop CS5.  This implies it's some kind of "by design" modal behavior, and that my unfamiliarity with using Path tools may be showing.
I've noticed holding down the control key, clicking, then holding down the control key and clicking again seems to revert it to the "correct" behavior where only one point at a time gets the focus.  Dragging a box around the point you want with the Direct Selection Tool also seems to net the proper behavior.

  • Photoshop Elements Editor - Entry point not found

This error? has come up after installing and then updating my new version of elements (12). I am running Windows 7 64bit with 16gb ram.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for the idea, but I had allready re-started twice. I found that the error was being caused by a Plugin, and possibly it was because I had installed it incorrectley.

  • I cannot open firefox, error states entry point not found

I can not open firefox, I downloaded an update and ever since, when I try to open I get the error message "no entry point found" What should I do?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == today ==
    == User Agent ==
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Often that's caused by damage to one of the other software components.
I'd try the following document first:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
(If you're running XP, there's a link to the equivalent instructions for that OS in the document.)

  • How to install Photoshop cs6 extended?

I bought two different cs6 software packages at different times. I bought and installed design standard first. This included photoshop cs6. I then found a good deal on production premium so I bought it. Production premium is supposed to come with photoshop extended. I installed prod. premium and I still only had the regular photoshop (opening splash screen was just the photoshop version with the circles instead of the photoshop version with the paint splatter).
I tried uninstalling photoshop and reinstalling from the prod. premium disc but it will only install photoshop it seems.
How can I go about installing the photoshop extended version that I should have access to?

Please follow the below mentioned steps:
    Open Photoshop
    Choose Help > Deactivate
Select Deactivate Permanently from this computer after deactivation completes
    Click Deactivate.
Reopen Photoshop. You are prompted for a serial number. Enter the Extended serial number.

  • Since installing Photoshop CS6, scanner cannot be launched via Photoshop Elements 8

I have recently installed Photoshop CS6. I already had Photoshop Elements 8 on my PC. Before installing CS6, I could quite happily scan photos etc via my scanner, from within Elements 8, but now when I go 'File > Get Photos and Videos > From Scanner' within Elements 8 (with Photoshop CS6 not open at the time, incidentally), I get a message saying 'Software for this device could not be launched. The device is not connected or is busy'. I would like to be able to scan from either Photoshop applications. What is the problem here?

Thanks Sudarshan Thiagarajan, Hudechrome and Curt Y. The printer/scanner/copier is an old Brother DCP-115C. I do have the latest driver installed. Due to its age, Brother stopped updating the driver ages ago.
Unless I'm missing something, why would anyone suspect the driver being at fault, anyway? The scanner worked fine from within Elements 8 - until I installed Photoshop CS6, from which point it continues to scan fine from within CS6, using either the WIA or the TWAIN systems (I needed to download the TWAIN plug-in for CS6 - it is no longer contained on Photoshop CS6's installation disc), but I can no longer scan from within Elements 8 anymore.
I'm just wondering, is one particular Photoshop application set as the 'default' application for the scanner (and, since CS6 was installed, this has taken precedence over Elements 8), or are you supposed to be able to use the scanner from within more than one Photoshop application on your PC system, at any one time, provided, of course, you have only one Photoshop application open? I expect it is the latter, as I am able to print from either Photoshop application still. As this is the case, I assume this means you should be able to scan from either Photoshop application also.

  • Cannot copy and paste text into Photoshop CS6

I am not able to copy and paste text from non-Adobe programs (like Keynote or Word) into Photoshop CS6. I get an error message reading "Could not complete the Paste Text command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid." I have tried shutting down Photoshop, shutting down other programs, re-starting my computer, adjusting my Preferences and asking Adobe for help by phone and chat. I am on a new iMac and have no third party plug-ins installed. Can anyone help?

Yesterday i update Yosemite and Adobe Photoshop CS6
i found error text message like you everytime when i used fontAwesome on Adobe Photoshop CS6 and then i found out to fix this problems Yeahh…
Try My Way to fix it out

-> paste your text (from your clipboard) To App TextEdit
    -> then Copy again
-> back to Photoshop paste it on your document layout

  • Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found (MSVCP80.dll)?

Hey guys, new to the board here and pretty much at the end of my rope.
Starting maybe 2 days ago I began getting quite a strange message when I tried to open Photoshop CS3.
I'd send a jpeg of the window but with photoshop down i'll settle for just typing this crap out:
Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The Procedure entry point ?replace@?$basic_string@DU$char_traits@D@std@@V?$a llocator@D@2@@std@@qaeaav12@IIPBD@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCP80.dll
Now, that's a mouthful! Fortunately i'm at least computer literate enough to dig around on google.
After doing that, I came up with nothing. I found a replacement for the DLL that it's having trouble with, but that did nothing.
I then tried out a program called Registrybooster, which found quite a few problems with my registry but failed to correct whatever is causing this problem.
So I tried to backtrack a little bit and see if anything I had done since the last time the program worked (wednesday the prior week) had broken it. I had shut off some startup programs so i figured maybe that had something to do with it. Unfortunately undoing those changes had absolutely no effect at all.
I then tried out doing a repair install, which did nothing. After this, I did an uninstall and reinstall and... nothing.
Some extra info: I run windows xp home edition on this PC and have it updated to SP3.
I've had photoshop on it for about a year with no problems.
Hopefully someone can help me here. Almost every thread I located with similar problems via google either went unanswered or the answers given didn't actually help me out.
    Someone save me!

Hi Chris, thanks for chiming in on my problem.
I'm doubtful of it being TWAIN/WIA caused, but will look into it. I have a wacom tablet and a canon scanner so who knows. What would you suggest I do to see if those two are causing anything in particular? (Not sure why they would as I haven't made any changes to the programs or hardware involved recently.)

  • Photoshop CC (64 bit): Entry Point not found

    Hi,
Just updated the Photoshop CC (64 bit) and after update the whole thing does not work anymore. When you try to start Photoshop CC you get an ugly message stating:
Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found
    The procedure entry point
    ?ProposeSearchBounds@StructuralImageEditing@@YA?AVBox@1@AEB ...
could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64bit)\Photoshop.exe
Any ideas? I really need the P CC so any help is valuable! The platform is Windows 8 / 64 bit and the P CC used to work..
    Update:
The 32-bit version of P CC works. So it is only the 64 bit version that does not start.

  • Illustrator CS6 won't run. Entry Point Not Found

Cannot get Illustrator CS6 to run. All othe CS6 components are running fine.
Every time I try to start Illustrator I get error message:
    The procedure entry point
?AcquireVarient@ImageInterface@drawbot@dvaui@@QEBA?BV?intrusive_ptr@UImageInterface@drawbo t@dvaui@@@boost@@V?rational@J@5@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library dvaui.dll.
This is on a Window 7 Pro PC. CS5 previously ran fine, but computer was rebuilt after a harddrive crash then loaded with CS6 and this problem began. CS6 installation on laptop works fine, so downloaded files are OK.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall twice, but always the same result.

Windows said I had the latest drivers, but ATI (AMD) website had auto-scan software that loaded a newer version. (Was ver 8.x is now 9.0) However, there was no change. I have a Tech Support case with Adobe being escalated now.
Since it was working before, I am worndering about using older drivers. This PC has a V7800 workstation graphics card, so there are special CAD-certified drivers available. Maybe I need to rollback to one of those versions instead of the latest and greatest.
I also found that the dvaui.dll file in the Illustrator directory is a different size on the laptop compared to the workstation. I could move the file, but touching dll's is scary stuff.

  • Problem opening PSCS5 32 bit - Photoshop.exe Entry Point Not Found

I am having a problem opening 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7.  The 64 bit version opens fine, but when I try and open the 32 bit version, the following window opens: “Photoshop.exe – Entry Point Not Found”  X The procedure entry point_CFCreateApplicationRepositoryPath could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreFoundation.dll.  My only option in this window is an OK button.  If I click this button several times, the program eventually opens. Below is screen shot of the error window.

Thanks Zeno and others.  Uninstalling Quicktime and then reinstalling it was the fix.
