Photoshop CS6: Printing Problem

From time-to-time, I seem to have had a temporary printing issue with Photoshop Elements 8, whereby the photo I was trying to print would not be printed completely, but part of it would be cut off, as if the printer's print-head would not be receiving the data from Photoshop past a certain point in one particular plane.
Up to this morning, I had never encountered any printing issue with Photoshop CS6, which I have had, and printed with, for the past 6 months or so. This morning, however, I encountered the same issue, for the first time, using Photoshop CS6. It is now printing properly again, but why do I occasionally encounter this with either software?
When I normally print, I like to print photos to exact sizes, but which vary greatly, and so I prefer the technique of creating a new blank A4-sized document and dragging my photo into this document and, by using Free Transform, size the photo to my exact requirements, before printing onto good quality A4 glossy or sometimes matte paper.
What happened this morning was that, using the technique above, I was trying to print a very small passport-sized photo over to the right-hand side of a sheet of A4 paper, with the blank document in the portrait orientation. My photo was only partially printed, and cut off past a certain point in the horizontal plane. By dragging my photo further towards the centre of the blank A4-sized document and reprinting onto the same sheet of A4 worked fine. After experimenting a little by printing the photo in various places on the same sheet of A4, I discovered that the photo was not printing past a certain point, in the horizontal plane, towards the right-hand side of the sheet of A4. This cut off point was consistent in every printing attempt. There was a certain point to the right-hand side of the sheet of A4, where, in the horizontal plane, it would simply not print past. By measuring this cut off point in the horizontal plane, it is 4.8cm from the right-hand edge of the sheet of A4, in its portrait orientation.
After resetting all tools, turning the PC and printer off and then on again, launching Photoshop CS6 and retrying, it seems to be printing correctly again, and I am able to print my photo anywhere on the sheet of A4, without anything being cut off past a certain point.
Has anybody had the same issue with Photoshop CS6 (or Elements 8)?
Does anybody have any ideas as to the possible causes(s)?

Yes, you're right, that would help wouldn't it !
The printer is old, having been discontinued (here in the UK, at least) years ago. I still have a large quantity of the printer inks for this model, which is one of the reasons for me not getting something newer. No doubt, the printer inks where you are, are ridiculously expensive too! As I am very happy with this printer's print quality, as long as you always use the highest quality settings for the type of paper you are using, it doesn't make sense, to me, to ditch it just because it is an old model.
Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) - in reality, updated to '13.0.1.1', although, as you know, the system info still states 13.0.1

  • Set "Scale To Fit Media" as default in Photoshop CS6 print settings on OSX

Quite frequently my boss will email 10 to 30 images to me to print from his camera. Is there a way to setup Photoshop CS6 print settings so that "Scale To Fit Media" is the default. I tried to create an action and then through Bridge select a folder and Batch send the files to Open-Print-Close. Since images are never received 8.5"x11" it would be convenient to have this as a default. Since the print settings revert, or aren't defaulting to "settings last used", my batch attempt was unsuccessful. I know I could edit my action to adjust image size to page dimensions, but thought a way to edit the Print settings default must be out there somewhere. (Using MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.4) Any Suggestions?

Unfortunately "Scale to Fit Media" isn't a toggle. But let's try a workaround.
You can create an Image Size action where you will scale the picture to either 8.5 inches wide or 11 inches high, whichever works best for you. First be sure "resampling" is turned off under Image > Image Size.
You would open an iimage, then create an new action, title it "Letter 11 inches" and that's when the recording starts.
Enter 11 inches as the Height, click OK and then stop recording.
This is a quick and dirty action and assumes all pictures are portrait and not landscape. It may just work for you.
You should be able to include it in your batch processing.

  • PHOTOSHOP CS6 PLUGIN PROBLEM; I have PS CS6

PHOTOSHOP CS6 PLUGIN PROBLEM; I have PS CS6 & a mac osx 10.7.5  I have downloaded the pluginhttps://sourceforge.net/projects/panotools/  I drag it to the applications folder  (applications/photoshop/plugins) and it shows up there, but it does not show up when I reopen photoshop, can anyone tell me if this is a valid plugin or what I am doing wrong?

Thank you for the link, I don't see where the licensing is listed at all, I also don't see where it says it is for existing CS2 users only & the line install a special version that does not require activation -
doesn't scream it'd be a problem to load it especially since I already own a later version that I can't use the plugin on - …I don't find the site all that informative.  I appreciate all the answers & responses to my use of CS2 but I'd really just like to receive an answer to the original question of if the plugin works with it or not…if anyone has that answer I'd appreciate it.
Is there a place I can purchase it?  I will gladly do so if I can get the plugin to work-that is my goal.

  • ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6 COLOR PROBLEMS

hi i have a problem on adobe cs6, i am a photographer and i work heavily on my pictures, sometimes with graphic techniques(like lens flare, light leaks etc) and sometimes just with camera raw. i have this problem in the sense that i am satisfied with how the final image looks on my monitor but when i send these pictures to both my phones (AN HTC android and a blackberry q5) the images look over saturated, the colors are too contrasted and are too deep, everything looks like i over edited it and i dont understand. my laptop monitor supports 32-bit imaging and its set to that by default, but my picture mode in photoshop is set to 16-bit by default, please help as i dont know what to do, could it be my monitor thats rendering false colors? i read something about changing color spaces to between sRGB adobe RGB and ProPhoto RGB but i just dont understand anything, please help
    laptop specs:
    toshiba satellite a665-s6050
    intel core i3 350m @2.2ghz
    intel hd 3000 graphics card
adobe photoshop cs6.1 with the latest camera raw

What is the images’ Color Space and do you embed the profile when saving?
In all probability your phones are simply not color managed.
So while converting the images to sRGB might improve the situation the issue may be that you are expecting what’s pretty much impossible – that images appear identically in color managed applications and on non-color managed devices.

I recently attempted to print a 13x19 photo on a Canon PIXMA 9500MarkII color printer using CS6.  The printer driver continually reported an paper since error.  Eventually, I gave up and tried to print the same photo with Apple's Preview application and it worked.
I contacted Canon support and they responded that the printing with Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 x64 is not compatible with OS 10.10.2.
Does anyone have a solution or know if Adobe will be updating CS6?

  • Photoshop CS6-many problems.  Slow.

I'm hoping someone at Adobe can address the numberous bugs and general slowness in Photoshop CS6.
Before installing (MacBok Pro 2010 Intel i7, 8GB Ram) I whiped my drive and installed OS Lion. So CS6 went on clean.
    What I'm finding:
    1. General slugishness all around.
Layered PSD files I was using just fine in CS5 are now extremely slow. An examle is a small (20mb) web design file. So it has many layers (maybe 200, not 2,000) mostly comprised of typographic elements—not many layered effects to speak of. Not many image layers, either. Layer folders are slow to move, folders can't be moved using the shift + arrow key consecutive times, making it difficult to move a range of folders xxx pixels to the left, for example.
Things that were pretty snappy before, are now slow. This is very similar to the problems I and many others saw with the initial relase of CS5—in the next version (12.0.1 I think?) Adobe fixed the issue.
    2. Problems with type, example keybaord arrow keys stop working many times when toye is selected. Frustrating.
More of a general rant here, but insted of (at least in addition to) a lot of other 'features' like video in PS extended (why not use Premiere?), 3d, etc., it would be really smart for Adobe to make core elements work better: A big complaint among interactive desigers is that type renders so poorly compared to CSS html. Maybe this could be addressed, as photoshop is used for the design of most all websites.

Some things need to be stated, I think.
    1.   You're not dealing with some smooth talking marketing department here.  Chris Cox and the other engineers who help here are substantially the ones that arrange the 1s and 0s in the code itself.  They speak plainly, and while most folks who know them realize they get directly to the point, folks who don't realize the special level of communication we have here might think the Adobe folks are abrupt or evasive.  Let me assure you they're neither.  It is uncommon to have this level of access to engineers at a big corporation, and encouraging them to be here is one of the things Adobe does right.  Very right.
    2.  Adobe's software uses and stresses your computer like no other software - not even the previous version of Adobe's software.  They have provided you with cutting-edge graphics technology in the latest release, and the state of the art is that your computer system is both extremely complex and the operating system and driver software on it does not all work perfectly (not even a Mac).  We see again and again, for example, that display drivers are hard put to work perfectly...  There are certain "golden" releases of drivers that work well - and others that just plain suck.
What you may not realize is that there are already multiple levels of fallback inside the Adobe software.  Some of them are automatic, and some you have to choose via preferences.  Adobe really can do no more to try to ensure their software works around the glitches on your particular system.

  • Photoshop CS6 Font problems

I am experiencing an intermittent problem in Photoshop CS6. I have over 500 fonts loaded on my IMac. I'll be working on a project file and when I go to add text, the drop down menu will only show about a third of my fonts instead of showing the complete list. The only way to correct this problem is to shut down Photoshop and reboot my computer.   Most of the time this will give me a menu showing all of the fonts. I have had this Mac for over two yeas and have not had such a problem while using CS5. Is this a bug in Photoshop or do I have other issues ? I have downloaded the latest Photoshop updates.
Equipment: IMac 27 with 3.06 dual core processor and 12 gig of ram. I am running Os 10.6.8.
As this is happening more frequently and has become very frustrating, any help would be appreciated.

Since you already said that you have downloaded the latest Photoshop upgrades (http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates  ), Then I will forward you to the next possible solution.
This would be to turn font preview off in Photoshop's preferences:
    In Photoshop CS6:
Choose Type > Font Preview Size.
    Select None.
Another solution is to turn off the following fonts:
The following fonts are known to cause problems when used in Photoshop:
    Bustle (Mac OS only)
    21kannmbn_ttf
    GURAKH_S.TTF
    JH_TITLES.TTF
    SCREEN__.TTF
    SEVESBRG.TTF
    SF Tattle Tales Condensed.ttF
    ZEROGEBI.TTF
    Zippy.ttf
Haettenschweiler (Photoshop CS4 when run as a 64-bit application on Windows only)
Finally,  another option is to Validate all the fonts through the Font Book Mac Os Application:
If you have a third-party font management program, such as Suitcase Fusion 2, there is sometimes a tool in your application that validates fonts. (For example, Font Doctor ships as a part of Suitcase Fusion 2.) Use this type of application as your first choice.
If you use a tool to validate your fonts, but the problem recurs, it's possible that the tool did not successfully validate your fonts. In this case, follow the steps in Solution 4 below to check for damaged fonts and to reset your font caches.
To validate your fonts through Font Book:
    Choose Applications > Font Book.
Choose All Fonts in the Collection column.
Select the top most font in the Font column.
Use the Down Arrow on the keyboard to select the first font, then hold the key down to scroll through all your fonts.
If Font Book crashes, restart Font Book, and scroll through the fonts one by one to determine which font caused the crash.
If you are using Mac OS X (10.5.x), Ctrl-click on any fonts that are problematic, and choose to Disable that font family.
If you are using Mac OS X (10.6.x), Ctrl-click on any fonts that are problematic, and choose to Remove that font family.
I grabbed all these from Adobe Help, which offer a few other options you might want to explore if these don't help you.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-fonts-photoshop-cs5.html
Please Respond if you cant find the resolution above or in the Adobe Help page that I posted above.

  • Photoshop CS6 have problems with my dual graphics card

I'm currently using photoshop cs6 on my laptop (hp pavilion dv4 3114 ), and this laptop has dual graphics cards(one is mobile intel hd graphics, the other one is ati hd 6750), it ususlly switches to the faster one when games are running or some software that requires a lot of graphic work. But this time I have already set in the graphics card profile to let photoshop use the faster one, but when I launch photoshop cs6 it tells me that the graphics card is not officially supported, as you can see this in the screenshot.
Then I turned to photoshop's preference(performence) and found it only identifies the mobile intel hd graphics. I'm currently using photoshop for designing large posters so performence is very important for me. Is anyone know how to solve this problem so that photoshop can run with the highest performence?

II can't imagine how these computer companies expect to fully integrate GPUs from two different vendors, but they're trying.  To me, knowing a bit about how display drivers are implemented, it seems an impossible task.
I hve heard (in the context of Macs that have this option) that disabling the low power options so that only the more powerful GPU is active can help.  I don't know if that can apply to your system, but it might give you an idea of a place to start looking.
Another thing might be to try to find whatever settings it offers for "affinity" and set it so Photoshop and its cousins use just the ATI GPU exclusively.  It might be the "switchover" process that is causing the problems.
    Good luck.

  • Photoshop CS6 printing size issue

I'm having a strange issue. Just upgraded to CS 6 and was able to print with no issues for a few weeks.
Yesterday I tried to print a file I had printed the day prior with no issus, to find that the document size appearing in the print dialogue box was VERY large. My document size is 11x17 with a resolution of 300, and the print box shows it as a tiny image in the middle of a page 77.264 in x 49.986 in.
If I try to print this scale, nothing shows up on my printer. If I fit to scale and try to print the document size, it's printing huge (400% larger)
My print settings are correct, thought maybe it was a driver issue but I'm having the same issue on another printer I use, so it seems to be coming from Photoshop. I trashed my preferences on startup, but the issue remains. I can't figure out what's going on. Here's a screen shot
Additional info: Other documents having the same issue in Photoshop CS6 when trying to print.
Document prints fine in CS5 and Illustrator CS6.

  • Photoshop CS6 - Printing ICC Targets?

So now that Adobe has completely eliminated the possibility of printing icc profile targets through Photoshop CS6 (cant do null transform anymore), how do you suggest we print ICC profile targets without color management? Yes, I'm aware of the ACPU, but that utility causes all kinds of issues with scaling and sizing the targets incorrectly. Are you planning on fixing the ACPU to work on the current operating systems?

Why are you using absolute colorimetric? Are you trying to proof printing on a paper that is much more yellow than what you are printing on?
If you are not trying to proof printing on another paper, use Relative Colorimetric.

  • Photoshop CS6 Printing whites as yellows

When printing from photoshop CS6 whites are coming out as yellows.
    I print as follows;
    Color Handling: Photoshop Manages Colors
Printer Profile: EPSON Stylus Pro 4800
    Normal Printing
    Rendering Intent: Absolute Colorimetric
(I need these settings as I print from sepcific palettes)
In Print settings I print on Custom Mode with no color adjustment.
I have recently upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and believe there must be an option somewhere to do with white handling I've missed.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

  • Soda can design in Photoshop CS6 Extended problem

    Hello,
I just did my design for a fake soda can in Photoshop CS6 Extended, which I was hoping to use as a 3D image later in my artwork. I measured a real soda can carefully, so I'm sure the size and the orientation of the image is right.  But when I try to go to 3D panel/Meshes/Soda to transfer my design to the soda can preset, it comes out less than half the size & oriented 90 degrees off. I tried to find ways to adjust it but it did not work at all. When I tried to apply the same design to a plain cylinder it came out OK. I tried to look online for the info how I could adjust the size and proportion of the image I would like to use in my 3D projects- but there no good information available.
So- how can I  accurately adjust the size and the direction of the image/layer taken from a 2D Photoshop layer to 3D in PsCS6 Extended? Please help!
    Thanks,
    Maya

Seems to me, if you follow what Steve said in that other thread, you're expected to rotate your design canvas 90 degrees CW before creating the mesh from the soda can preset.
