Building a test environment to double check a stock Windows 8 config and Photoshop CS6 is going to take some time.
As it turned out, not so much.
I had saved a snapshot for a Windows 8 x64 virtual machine when I first installed it, and sure enough I was able to restore that snapshot and install Photoshop successfully in just minutes with no problems.
I was able to run Photoshop CS6 x64 13.0.0 just fine.
I then updated to 13.0.1, which again went without a hitch, and now I'm able to run Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 again without problems.
Note that this is a bone stock, freshly installed Windows 8 system without any tweaks whatsoever.  There is just a C: drive and Photoshop's configuration is the stock out-of-box-experience.
I've tried some general dragging and dropping - e.g., of images from Explorer to Photoshop, of layer data from one document to another - with no problems.
I even shut down the virtual machine, added a disk drive (D:), then asked Photoshop to use D: as scratch.  It had no problem with that either.
I am willing to say definitively at this point that there is no systemic problem with Photoshop CS6 and WIndows 8 x64 out-of-the-box, though that's not to say there aren't classes of problems with particular video drivers or on systems where the Windows 8 system was installed as an upgrade to an existing system - or even as a clean install but with disk volumes left over from a prior system.
That last scenario is the one I see causing the most problems - that of having a disk drive formatted under a prior version of Windows, which would have had a different Security ID, and not setting the ownership and permissions so as to allow access by the current username.

  • I have Photoshop CS6 problem with Win8

I had Win7 and didn`t have any problems but I bought Win8 upgrade and I install it without any changes of my PC settings ... that was option offered from Win8 insatallation manager.
My problem with Ps CS6 is next my files are open as a tabs and when I "move" image with hand tool  the paste board flashing from dark grey to transperant...very anoying.
Sometimes when I "scale" image with move tool image area get black and I can`t see the image scale...
How to fix that Please help I can`t work with normal concentration...very anoying Please help?

Flickering is a known problem with Win8. We and the GPU vendors are working with Microsoft to get it fixed, and seeing if we can implement workarounds until the fix arrives.
The image going dark also means a display driver problem.
You can try turning off GPU drawing in preferences, or setting the GPU mode to basic, for the time being.

  • Photoshop CS6 - Problems with Canon Easy PhotoPrint Pro!

    Hi,
I have been a user of Photoshop for years, starting with CS2, and upgrading regularly.
Currently, I have Photoshop CS6, working on Windows 8, 64 bit!
With every version of PS, I have installed a Canon add in, called Easy Photoprint Pro.
I have found that this provides the best colour match (monitor/Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer).
With CS 6, I find that as soon as I try and run Easy Photoprint, Photoshop stops working and closes down! (File >> Automate >> Easy PhotoPrint)
I have down loaded both the latest versions of PS from Adobe com, and Easy Photoprint Pro, from Canon - The latter is claimed to be compatible with Windows 8 and Photoshop CS 6.
I have tried disabling all other programs, at start up, and disabling all non Microsoft services; also disabling my Security suit!
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has experience this problem, and has a solution

The problem has been resolved, I think! For anyone interested,
    (1) I completely uninstalled all Adobe and Canon software and drivers!
    (2) I then deleted all Canon and Adobe folders on my C drive (Program Files & Program Files X 86).
    (3) I then ran REGEDIT and deleted All Canon and Adobe Keys!
    (4) I then ran CCleaner Registry cleaner!
    (5) I then Restarted my computer!
    (6) Finally, I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE!
I then repeated steps (1) to (5), but started my PC in SAFE MODE!
I then repeated step (6); namely:I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS APPEARS TO HAVE CLEARED THE PROBLEM

  • Photoshop CS6 problems with Lion OS!

I am a Mac user of the creator suite and have not upgraded to the Lion OS because of many reported problems with Photoshop and lightroom running under Lion. Does anyone know if CS6 and Lightoom 4 have similar problems, or has Adobe fixed them in these versions?

    Danny,
Topic or subject titles should be clear, pertinent and concise so that individual users can tell at a glance if they can help or not.
That field is not for attempting to fit your entire question in there.
Please keep this in mind next time you post.  Thank you.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Problem

I have successfully installed Photoshop CS6 to my computer. However, when I open the front page to CS6 everything "freezes up", and I cannot open any of the tabs - not even the file or close tabs.
Have uninstalled and re-installed the CS6 several times with no effect. Am installing from a boxed disc that I purchased from Adobe.
    Ted Wolfe

Got it solved by going by adding the latest updates to CS6.

    Thanks for info:
    A. Backup before doing anything advanced is recommended but not widely used.
    B. Upgrade on vanilla plain (and updated) operatiing system goes flawlessly. Upgrade on "real" computer may depend on "status" of operating system and applications installed. You may not be the last experiencing troubles.
    C. Software vendors expect that users has nearly unlimited disk size, large memory and latest processor.
    D. It is on you to find anything positive to compensate annoyances. Mental balance is in your hands ;-)

  • Is CS6 compatible with Win8 Pro

Is CS6 compatible with Win8 Pro?

Microsoft does seem to care about backward compatibility so I wouldn’t be too concerned about CS6.
I would think anything that runs on Win 7 should be fine on Win 8. That said, I wouldn’t push my luck with anything older than CS5 but it wouldn’t surprise me to see CS3 and later working okay.

  • Photoshop CS6 Problems- Shortcuts are Stuck! Lasso Does Not Work!

Hi there! I'm a Mac user with a Cintiq 12WX tablet, and I just upgraded to Photoshop CS6. I use it primarily for art, but I've come across some problems that have really interrupted my workflow. A lot of the time, certain functions seem to not work or get stuck. Here are my problems specifically:
    1. My Undo shortcut is set to Command+Z. Some of the time it works fine, but most of the time I keep hitting the command and nothing happens! So if I want to delete a brush stroke, I usually have to tap multiple with my stylus and make more strokes in order to get Undo to work. Frustrating!
    2. The lasso tool works sometimes, but a lot of the time it doesn't select anything. So I have to keep repeating the stroke until it does select.
    3. Sometimes, the keyboard shortcuts just don't work! And even if a tool is selected, I can't do anything with it!
These problems are all completely random, I have no idea what triggers them. I've read of other people having similar problems, but I have yet to find a solution. Nothing like this happened in CS5. Does anybody know how to help me? I make me living with art and these problems have really slowed me down. Thank you!

What OS Version are you using?
It sounds like you are on MaCOS, did you install the WhiteWindowWorkaround plugin to avoid the known MacOS bugs?

  • Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS6 problem when editing

    Hi,
I have just upgraded to Photoshop CS6 and now when I 'edit in Photoshop CS6' from lightroom and save it, the image doesn't appear next to the original RAW file as it did before. Now lightroom creates its own folder with the edited files in.
For example, I edited a RAW file from a folder called Bissoe valley from Lightroom and saved it. When I go back to Lightroom the edited image is not next to the original file but in a seperate folder called 'Bissoe valley'. I then try to drag the edited image back into the original 'Bissoe valley folder with the original RAW file and it says 'the file already exists at the destination'
I appologise if this has already been asked. I'm guessing I need to buy Lightroom 4 because of incompatibility issues? It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Victoria....you are a legend!
You can see here lightroom has created folders identically named to the folder which the original files belong to (coco, Harriet, Bissoe and independent assignment)
The really confusing part is that when I look in the original folder outside of Lightroom, the saved Tiff image is there next to the original.
I think I will try uninstalling ps cs6 and go back to cs5 to see if it solves the problem and take it from there....

  • Mavericks, Photoshop CS6 problem

    Here is a question.
    I have
    iMac (27-inch, Late 2009)
              iMac - model: iMac11,1
              1 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 CPU: 4 cores
              16 GB RAM
    and
              Apple Cinema Display
When I have TWO files open in TWO SEPARATE display and use the option key in Photoshop CS6 (any Photoshop) to MASK the layer, WHY IT JUMP FROM ONE FILE TO ANOTHER (from one screen to another)??
Guess what, I use this option for the last 15 years...
Can you help me with that?

    genemoz wrote:
You don't need CS6 for that,
Anyway, when you copy the layer (Command J), then do any adjustments...then you point your cursor at the bottom of the layers where you have little icons: 'Add the layer style', 'Add the layer mask', 'Create new fill or adjustment layer', etc.
So you point the cursor at the 'Add the layer mask' icon, hold 'option' key and click on that icon, and here we go, you have the mask (in any Photoshop)
Now, again...when you have two monitors and two files, you are working on one of them and keep the other as a reference. So when you click your mask, it goes to the reference image...How wierd is that??
I'm so tired of Mavericks problems, everything is a problem, starting with Photoshop, Firefox -  any internet browser is slow...
Please tell me, do I have to go 15 years back to Windows again??
My productive time now is 50 % slower because I have to fix Mavericks problems...
This is third week that I have no positive results!
    Thx
when I do this, I get a black mask (instead of the default white one)... The project I'm working on doesn't switch.
I don't work the way you do, and always have PS in the application frame, which I can then tile all active projects in it (in references to you having a reference image and a working image).
It's not a Mavericks issue, it's a user issue. have you tried to update CS6?

  • Uneven pen pressure in Photoshop CS6 Extended with Wacom Intuos5

I got Photoshop CS6 Extended recently, but the lines I draw in it aren't smooth, like they should be (example below).
The tablet produces perfect lines in any other bit of software (Flash,  ToonBoom, etc.), but not Photoshop. I've tried lots of different  solutions (uninstalling and reinstalling it, reverting back to an  earlier driver, clearing preferences, etc.), to no avail. Oddly, my  Intuos3 works fine in Photoshop, for a few minutes, before it crashes. If I try to adjust the Wacom Tablet Properties for CS6, it doesn't recognize any changes, but if I adjust the settings for Photoshop CS4, it does. All Wacom Drivers are up-to-date.
Any ideas on how to fix this would be most appreciated.

I've tried all of the above and had no results. I have the exact same issue as you, specially when working with a big brush. Even in the tablet settings panel I can see the sensitivity display go nuts after a certain threshold over 30% of pressure. I tend to use the hardest possible.  At this point I think it's probably a hardware problem with the pen or tablet surface but still, I had an intuos 3 for many years without any trouble and the intuos 5 is giving me problems now . Also I replied to you becouse this was kind of the only part of the internet where I could find the exact same issue with a screencap of it. thank's in advance to anyone that have a workaround or news about this!!!

  • Photoshop CS6: Problem - paint bucket

    Hello,
I am used to work with Photoshop. Unfortunately there is a bug in the paint bucket tool of Photoshop CS6. I made all updates up to 13.0.1 (x64).
Description: The paint bucket tool is very tricky to use now. If you want to fill a certain empty area of a picture with a simple color, it often does not do that. My clicks are totally correct, also the position ... but it does not take it. Somtimes I have to zoom insome 100% untill my clicks are successful and the desired areas are filled with color.
I hope that Adobe can release an update to fix that problem.
    Kind regards
    Ameeon

hmmm ... but now it works.
maybe I am not used to the black arrow symbol ...
Has someone experienced the same problem?
