Photoshop CS6 Redraw Glitch [Early 2011 13-inch model]

I have Photoshop CS6 and for the first week it worked fine. Then, I was working at 50% zoom and at first, when I went to 100% zoom, it deleted random parts of different layers and even when I zoomed back out they were still missing. It just showed the transparent pixels. Even undoing my last actions wouldn't bring the missing parts back, so I know it wasn't something that I accidentally did on my own.
After that incident, I redid everything and now whenever I apply an image effect (blur, etc) or change the layer mode, random blocks of color will appear and cover my work.
The only way I've been able to work around it is to do one action (example- duplicate a layer), then save and close Photoshop completely before re-opening it and doing one more action (ex- change layer mode) before saving/closing/etc.
Apple ran diagnostics tests and they said everything was performing fine. Adobe insists that their program is fine and that the problem lies within my hardware.
They have not been of any help, saying "Sadly some less educated repair people refuse to believe that such things can happen and rely on incomplete diagnostics instead of actual logic or hardware testing" and "Apple's hardware diagnostics are not known for being complete, robust, or overly accurate."

What model MBP do you have? If it is the 13" model (It is the 13" model) it only has the Intel graphics and that may be part of the problem.
When was the last time you Restarted the system? If it was more then 1 days ago Reboot and see if that clears it up.
How much RAM do you have installed?
If only the original 4GBs and you are working with many layers, 3-6 layers, you are simply running out of RAM.
Install 8GBs.

  • How can I steam from my early 2011 15-inch Mac Book Pro to my 2007 Samsung TV?

I have an early 2011, 15-inch Mac Book Pro Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34). It does not have an HDMI port. I have a Samsung TV I bought in 2007 (Model LN-4061F). How can I stream from laptop to my TV? My laptop does not have an HDMI port. I've read I can buy an adapter, but I'm not sure what to buy.
    -Does Apple make them?
-Are knockoff adapters "safe" to use with my laptop, and are they reliable/have a good quality connection?
-How much do they cost (I've seen cheap ones on Amazon)?
    -What kind should I buy?
-Will my laptop stream in HD?
I'm new to the community, so hoping someone can advise me how to do this. We also have a Roku, but I'm looking to stream DVDs and directly from TV network websites.
    Thanks for your help!

You will have to use the  minidisplay port to connect to the TV.  Assuming that the TV has an HDMI port, you will need a cable such as this:
    http://www.monoprice.com/Product?seq=1&kpid=9476&format=2&p_id=9476&CAWELAID=164 2113595&CAGPSPN=pla%26catargetid=320013720000066114%26cadevice=c&gclid=CJHTtbyQ0 8MCFRQ2aQod14cABw
With this, you eliminate the need for an adapter.
    Ciao.

  • How much memory can use my early 2011 15 inch MBP ?

I'm looking to buy new memory for my early 2011 15 inch MBP because it's running way to slow ( i have 4GB memory). I want to put 16 GB on it. Will it support it?

I too want to add memory to my 15" MacBook Pro, early 2011.
It has: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. Currently I have 8GB installed. I saw this post and thought yahoo! HOWEVER, when I look on Apple's site it says no. That the memory is tapped at 8GB. I really hope to go to 16 GB.
Here is the link I found:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT1270
So, since this post says the laptop will support 16 GB and the above says only 8 GB. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Ginger

  • Will Windows 7 Pro run with 16GB of Ram in Macbook Pro Early 2011 13-inch?

Will Windows 7 Pro run with 16GB of Ram in Macbook Pro Early 2011 13-inch?, Does the brand of the Ram matter ?
I installed Crucial 16 gb and the Mac runs just fine but Windows won't start. It gets to the login screen then it turns white.

I decided to make another try today after some reading and googling the internet.
I started windows with my old 4GB memory and changed the bootconfiguration with msconfig. I typed manually in max memory tp 16384 MB and saved the settings. Then I turned it off and inserted the 16GB ram again. Then it started really but when looking at the properties of my computer it says 16 GB installed but I can only use 2,16GB. So I opened msconfig again and changed the settings once more and restarted. Now it says 16GB installed but I can use 14,2GB so I guess it is ok now for some strange reason. I suppose the lost 1,8GB is for the system ?? Do I dare to turn it off again :-) what will it say next time ?
I am so happy and greatful for all your help, I really really appreciate it and I hope my solution will come to use for someone else with same problem.
    Thank You all :-)

  • Incredibly slow performance on early 2011 17-inch; what could it be?

I've got an early 2011 Macbook Pro 17-inch with the (at the time) bumped up 2.3 ghz CPU. Other than the CPU bump, it's pretty stock. Only 4 gigs of RAM, and the 750 gig hard drive running at 5400rpm. This is my second unit, the first having mysteriously died when I was traveling (just wouldn't even power on; apple store replaced it).
Due to a pretty heavy schedule since then (lots of travel, lots of work, and night classes), I haven't had much opportunity to do anything extreme on my fancy new computer. Despite that, I have noticed it often feels SLOW. Like, really slow. Stuff like taking 2 seconds just to switch between open apps, when you only have 2 apps open (and I'm not talking Final Cut and Photoshop, I'm talking Safari and Mail). Numbers was barely usable, sometimes dropping keystrokes as I tabbed between cells (and switching cells took over a second). Pages was frustratingly slow. It was bad. Finally, I reached a boiling point when I downloaded the latest Humble Indie Bundle, and Jamestown (a vertical-scrolling, 2D shooter) was unplayably slow. It wasn't running at a consistently low framerate, but it would basically freeze up for a second every 3 seconds or so. That's a lot of freezing up.
Today, I ran Geek Bench, and compared my score to a typical sandy bridge MBP 17". Typical 17" was in the neighborhood of 11,000. My MBP17" scored in the neighborhood of 2700! That is pretty bad!
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out where to even look. I ran the benchmark with all apps closed. It wasn't a fresh boot, but trust me I've rebooted plenty of times and it's been noticeably slow every time. I download Onyx a week ago and had it clear out all my caches, refresh my prebindings, run the periodic crons, and also did a repair disk permissions from Disk Utility. None of that has brought my score above 3000.
When I say I ran Geek Bench by itself, that's not entirely true. I always set up Activity Monitor to be a startup app, minimized to my dock. It's always plenty idle. There are no visible runaway processes or memory hogs. I do have it set ot display All Processes. I also ran memtest with 4 passes to check if my memory was bad, and it found no errors.
I have Windows 7 in boot camp, and when I tried playing Jamestown there, it was fine. I've played some older games (like Mass Effect 1 and 2) earlier in the year in boot camp, and it seemed fine. Granted, those were older games. I haven't done anything that pushed it. I would consider my Windows partition to be "untested" in this regard--it hasn't proven that it's slow or not. Jamestown was playable and didn't stutter...but honestly that game would run well on my 4 year old 2-core MBP, which would probably score in the upper 2000's on Geek Bench anyway. That said, OS X does have a stuttering problem that doesn't seem to be happening in Windows.
I'm at a loss, and was planning to schedule a Genius Bar appointment for this weekend, but I'm curious if anybody has any insight or experience with this? I'll update the thread with whatever I learn at Apple.

Update: After I got home, I decided to do some more random troubleshooting. First I closed everything, did another repair permissions, rebooted and confirmed the performance was still slow.
Then I took my laptop out of the Book Arc stand (holds it vertical) and power-cycled the machine, now without my external peripherals. The Geek Bench now reported 10235! So that is good news!
Interestingly, my battery (despite having been plugged in for weeks) was at 0%, so it seems like there might be a problem with the SMC. I reset it and I'll see how it goes. Doing a Geek Bench run each time, I put my computer back in its stand and hooked it up to the external monitor and keyboard.
I tried the Jamestown test, and I was sad to see that even with good geek bench numbers, it was still herky jerky. I removed the laptop from the Book Arc and played on the built-in keyboard and display, and the problems were gone. I hooked it back up to the external display, and things were fine, then, too.
I'm going to keep an eye on the CPU (by occasionally running geek bench) as well as the state of the battery. I've had the laptop out of its stand less than three weeks ago, which would imply that this slowdown problem should be isolated to no more than that period of time, but I have been observing slowness for longer than that.
As of now, I have nothing to show at the Genius Bar, so I'm cancelling.

  • Early 2011 15-inch MacBook pro running a tad bit slow

Had it for a while now and he's been treating me well, but all of a sudden the performance has started going a little wonky. Sometimes when I'm working, it'll just go black-screen (and stop playing music if I was playing any before) and then the login screen will show up, or it'll go to full on sleep where sometimes it'll respond if I press Enter a couple of times, but other times i'll have to close the clamshell and reopen it to be taken back to the login screen.  Also, I get the rainbow pinwheel more often than I used to, for longer than I used to,  for simple tasks like using Safari or opening Word or trying to access a menu or quit an app.  Some apps will take a considerable time to open, and the icon just keeps a-bouncing in the dock until 20 years later when the app eventually opens.  I've taken him into the Apple store and had them reset the SMC as that seemed to be the main problem all signs were pointing to.  But the symptoms still remain, so I'm hoping I can find some help here from you all. I'm a broke college kid, so I'm not trying to drop huge bucks, but any little bit of info is greatly appreciated.

That's a hardware kernel panic for certain and it does look as if it was caused by a faulty GPU.
The only thing that I can really recommend is printing out the kernel panic and taking it and your machine into your local Apple Store/AASP. They can diagnose the problem and give you an estimate for repair (unless you purchased the extended AppleCare Protection Plan - in which case the repair should be free).

  • Photoshop CS6 Fonts crashing Word 2011 on OS X Yosemite.

On a newly imaged system we install the base osx 10.10.1 and then Office 2011 and Photoshop CS6 v13.0.6 x64.  At first login for any user Word crashes when building the font menu.  A logout and log back in as the same user, it works fine the second time around.  We've cleaned out all of the duplicate fonts from Font Book.  How would I find out which of Adobe's fonts that gets installed (in AdobeFontsRequired-mul.pkg or AdobeFontsRecommended-mul.pkg ) is causing the issue in our lab environment??  Loading just an OS X 10.10.1 and Office system works just fine.

We are having the same issue.  Currently searching for a solution.  In our instance, it is not only word, but Excel and Powerpoint as well.  Launching any of the applications and then logging out and logging in corrects the problem, however this is not a solution because we are setting up these computers in a lab environment.

  • What is the price of macbook pro early 2011 15 inch 2.0ghz

Just need to find out the price difference,if any, between early 2011 macbook pro 2.0ghz and late 2011 2.2 ghz in Singapore currency. Thanks:)

There was no price increase from the early to the late 2011 MBPs.
Tim Cook has not called me to let me know when the new MBPs will be released.  When he does, I promise I will let you know.
Seriously, Apple never releases such information until they actually do so.  That is their corporate policy.  Anything you see on other websites are rumors and nothing more.
    Ciao.

  • Blue screen, random graphical glitches early 2011

    Hi all,
I have a MacBook Pro early 2011, which recently had to have the hard drive replaced for 190 dollars because it failed diagnostics at the Genius Bar, out of warranty surprise, surprise.
Anyway upon receiving my computer back today, literally 10 minutes after I had completed the first time setup a blue screen appeared making me unable to do anything, upon rebooting I was greeted with a grey screen and a loud fan.
Upon resetting nvram and all that stuff with no luck, I remotely wiped my hdd with another one of my macs, and reinstalled the so using the snow leopard disks that came in the box, 20 minutes later after attempting some software updates I am greeted randomly with a screen of graphical jibberish forcing restarts every time this has happened 3 times now
I'm guessing I have to take it back to the apple store and get it fixed again seeing as they cannot get it right the first time? Or is there something else I can try

Your MBP may be having this issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4088
Take the MBP back for service.
    Ciao.

  • Photoshop CS6 files into Word 2011?

When I import a photo file from CS6 for MAC, 1x2" at 300 ppi, into Word 2011 for MAC on my new MacBook Pro, the file is importing to fill the page width. When I import a similar file from my old CS2 on the same new computer, the file imports at the correct 1x2" size. I think there is some setting I need to change in CS6, but have been through every place I can find to look. What can I do to fix this?

Don't have retina display. Just realized images are importing to Word 2011 sized at 72 ppi rather than the 300 of original file. That is why size is coming out so large. There must be somewhere in CS6 that is doing this. Apparently, in CS5.5, there is a place to change this under Photoshop>options>, but this choice does not show up in CS6, and I can't find anything similar under Preferences. Any ideas?

  • Photoshop CS6 recent glitches, how to fix?

I recently downloaded Adobe Creative Cloud for students and eveytime I work in photoshop, the backgound and workspace will glitch. I never had this happen in my use with photoshop. I wish to get this fixed ASAP

    Hi,
As John asks, system specs are really helpful data points. My guess is you have Win8 and an ATI video card with 12.10 drivers installed. If so, for Win8 you'll need to go to Ps prefs. and set the Performance> GPU settings: Advanced Settings... to 'Basic'. For Win7 you can try uninstalling 12.10 and installing 12.8 to see if that helps.

  • Photoshop Cs6 Help glitch.

Okay was just adding a layer effect and out of nowwhere it says "Photoshop online help could not be displayed because you are not connected to the internet". So I went to connect and hoped the pop up would go away but it is still there. Need help ASAP!!!

If you right click on jpg in BRidge and choose "open in camera raw" does it work"?
Do you have this option set up in Bridge in edit/Camera Raw preferences?
In PS click on Help/about plugin/camera raw.  What does it say?
    What OS?

  • Using an early 2011 15 inch macbook pro to watch a rented dvd. the screen displayed a skipping over damaged section message, then the dvd froze. first unable to eject the dvd, now it can't be inserted. Hardware prblm? reset the superdrive?

I was viewing a rented dvd when a "skipping damaged area" message was shown and then the dvd froze. At first I was unable to eject the dvd with the eject botton though the superdrive made "ejecting" noises, and followed the cue "finder using dvd" and ejected it. Now the drive will not accept any dvds. Does this sound like a hardaware problem, or is it possible that some sort of "reset" needs to take place?

Before wasting your time heading to your local Apple Store, try resetting your SMC.  It doesn't work all the time, but sometimes it's just the thing to save you time.

  • What is the best method for moving to a new Retina MacBook Pro from an Early 2011 15-inch MacBook Pro using Migration Assistant?

I'd like to transfer all data to the new MacBook as seamless as possible. Don't want to reinstall software. Using Migration Assistant in past was successful, but I always used Firewire or Ethernet.
Apple's Thunderbolt cable is too expensive at $49. Wifi is way too slow. (Transfering my 500GBs was going to take over 100 hours.) Do I need to get a Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet adapter and cable? That's about the same price as the Thunderbolt cable. Is transfer over USB 2 possible? Would I be better off restoring from my Carbon Copy Clone on my USB 2 external drive?
I do not use Time Machine.

Stephen Coles wrote:... Do I need to get a Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet adapter and cable?
That's what I used, although I already had the ethernet cable. Just directly connected both machines (after turning off Airport on the old one), no router or anything else, and ran Migration Assistant on both ends. Transfered a user account with about 30Gb data, nothing else.
