Photoshop CS6. Save for Web Problem - Don't remember folder location

Hi!
Found one more problem with Save For Web in Photoshop CS6.
Example:
1. New Document
2. Choose - Save for web
3. In dialog window Photoshop CS6 offer to save in - os My Document Folder
4. Ok, every time I don't really need to save in os folders - I save files to my folders. So, change folder ...for example to disc D
5. Create another New document
6. Choose Save for web
7. And.... - Photoshop CS6 offer to save my file in os My Documents AGAIN !!!
So, in fact it's real uncomortable!!! ...if I save different files for web frequently ....I need every time change My Documents....it makes me nervous.......
Here - compare with CS3: CS3 remember "old" folder location even at another session (for example - after reload os)
Is there any fix this problem?
p.s. Testing on:
OS - windows 7 64 bit
cs6 - 64 bit extended
cs3 - 64 bit extended

Noel, Yes! In your example everything works like on your video. May be my explanation was not so clear, so...I'm trying to describe in more details.
I don't know how to make video & animated gif by capture the screen...so I'll try to explain by words
1. Start CS6
2. Make New Document
3. Save for Web (save parametres are: JPEG, HIGH etc....I think it doesn't matter)
4. CS6 offer "My Documents"
5. Change the way to "Disc D"
6. Save it by name for example "Untitled-1".... & close window "Save for web"
7. Choose "Save for Web" again
....So, at this step - CS6 remember my current location "Disc D" even I open other file & use command "Save for web"...it saves to Disc D. Everything is ok.
....continue:
8. Shut down the CS6
9. Run it again
10. Create new file or....even open saved file on disc D in previous session - "Untitled-1"
11. Save for Web
So, it's final: CS6 offer the "My documents" AGAIN
....continue:
12. Run CS6 - Make New File - Save for Web to disc D by name "Untitled-1"
13. Keep the photoshop session & create new document...let's call it "Untitled-2" - so, now I have 2 files opened in CS6: "Untitled-1" (it was saved on disc D before) & new "Untitled-2"
14. So if I'll try to save second file "Untitled-2" fo web CS6 offer the way "My documents" AGAIN!
p.s. Tryied to do the same on CS3 - Shut down CS3 2-3 times, opened different files, create new docs - there's no trouble. In global - CS3 remember last way (in my case it's "Disc D") & doesn't change it by itself. In fact working in CS3 I din't feel any problems with this command "Save for Web", that's the reason I didn't write any questions on forums etc..... But starting to try CS6 I really feel it makes the work to change every time the folder ways not so comfortable...so I wrote the question here
p.s. 2    In spite of I didn't work in CS4-CS5 cause it were not comfortable in my opinion....now I wanted to  test "save for web" in CS5. Trouble is the same even during one session:
1. Run CS5
2. Create new document
3. Save for web - CS5 offer "My Dociment", change it to "disc D" - save - ok
4. Shut down, run CS5 again
5. Create New, or even Opened old saved file to disc D (for example from step 3) - CS5 offer the way "My documents" again
I hope this my explanation was more clear to understand

  • Photoshop CS6 Save For Web UI extra border Bug

Last week we finally got upgraded to CS6, and I'm dissapointed to see the visual defect I reported in CS5.5 still exists in Photoshop CS6 Save for Web. The details and screenshots are all the same as in my previous thread. http://forums.adobe.com/message/3843054#3843054
Isn't there a way to fix this?  I rely on PhotoShop to be pixel perfect, not to add extra distracting lines and borders to my work.

FYI, just to test I just did a crop of an image, then screen grabbed the result.
To ensure the edge is visible, I changed the workspace background from the dark gray I usually use to a lighter gray...  Here's the pertinent part of the workspace...
A closeup of the upper-right corner:
Notably, I don't see any black line around it like you showed.  This leads me to wonder whether I interpreted your screen grab properly...

  • In Photoshop CS6, Save for Web strips out my filename after a period "." character

I have a file named label-1.5oz.psd.  In Photoshop CS6 when I use "Save for Web" to save it as a JPG, it only wants to save a part of the filename: label-1.jpg
I strips out everything after the period "." character.  I know it's incorrectly thinking that's a file extension.
Any ideas how I can fix this?  Any settings I should tweak?  I'd really love for it to save the full filename without requiring me to retype the last part every time.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh if only it were that easy...  Unfortunately, they have to be cropped and resized, converting over from a print catalog where much of that work was originally done in InDesign, and now have to convert each individual image to make the web site look like the catalog...  but thanks for the suggestion, have already tried to automate what I could..  But much of this is going to be hands on...  getting my familiar quick keys to function correctly would help greatly.

  • Photoshop CS6 Save for Web not working

I am using photoshop CS6 (cloud) on Mac (10.7.5) and when I use the Save For Web > save, i got the following popup :
---- Adobe Save For Web Error ----
Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occurred.
I have been using CS6 for months and it worked fine yesterday before shutting done. Today morning at startup it was not working anymore.
I have tried to  uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop, clear my presets, shut down/started up, repair disk, repair permissions,... without succes.
The save for web function still works in CS5.
Any help will be very much appreciated,
    Raphaël K.

I found the solution (took forever to consolidate all the answers) for OS X 10.9 + Maverick. Finally!
    1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
    2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
    3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
Presto! Works for me on Maverick.
Thank god. It took forever to get this cleared up!!

  • Photoshop CS6: Save for Web Automatic Resize Issue

Some my .psd files (CS6 Photoshop, MAC OSX 10.7.5, Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7) automatically resize to a percentage. I can't figure out what the cause is, and it will not allow me to change it back to 100% to slice out images for web.
File Type is .psd - RGB 8 bit/color
Fie Dimensions are 1400px by 10,800px.
    File Size is 60MB
The file is extremely slow to open and adjust anything within the file as well, not sure if the issue is related.
I am working off of my desktop not off of a server.
Attached is the save for web issue.

I have the exact same issue, just on certain files?
I have to 'save as' instead of 'Save for Web'?
What causes this to happen?? I also have the preview window displaying a gif when I've got the PNG option selected???

  • Photoshop CS6 save for web some colors change?

I have a picture with large area of color: #fffdfd, when I save it for web (jpg) this color is changed to #fefcfd (in JPG).
I just can not save as JPG with #fffdfd.
(was trying uncheck convert to sRGB, do not embed color profile - always #fffdfd changes to #fefcfd when save for web)
However, color #fefcfd when save for web , does not change.
Why some colors change and some not? Is it a bug ?
    Window7 64bit, Photoshop CS6

Save for Web & Devices will strip some color data from the file.
Browsers aren't color managed. Most file formats on browsers assume they're sRGB. While Photoshop gives you an option of embedding sRGB to the document color space, it also strips off data that is not relevant. This is a common occurence.
PNG-24 on the other hand will give you the exact color match.
Also, Save for W&D, JPG quality matters a lot - The same color at Quality 10,20,30,40,50...100 wil give you different color reproductions on the JPG end output.
If you're concerned that much about an offset of +/- 1 hex value to your RGB colorspace, dont save for web & devices. Do a 'Save As' instead. Then use an image editing/ resizing application such as ResizeMe to resize the quality of your document. This, in most cases will retain colorspace information but just drop the resolution and quality of the image - giving you a lesser filesize.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 and 'Save for Web' problem

    Hi everyone,
I have used Photoshop Elements 2 for some time with absolutely no problems. However when I try to use the save for the web option I get an 'export could not be completed due to a program error' message.
Nothing relevant is mentioned on Adobe's support site. After having gone through the usual 9 troubleshooting procedure I suspect that there is a problem with the 'Save for Web EL' plugin located in the PE 2 plugins folder. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way I can somehow find a functional plugin?
Thank you for reading this post.
    PowerBook G4 DVI 667   Mac OS 9.2.x

I don't use Photoshop elements myself, but from Photoshop CS it works fine. I use JPG compression and optimization. First of all - make sure the file format extensions are all available. Applications/adobe/photoshop elements/file formats AND ALSO Applications/adobe/photoshop elements/photoshop elements only/file formats (here I am assuming the paths are the same or similar to Photoshop). Also, check the extensions disabled folder (Control click on Photoshop and go to package contents). If it's none of these, I suggest you check the settings in Elements when trying to save and make sure you are not using an option that conflicts.
Also, check the Adobe forum. http://www.adobeforums.com
    Check for software upgrades also.
You do have enough hard drive space and RAM I assume. If you are using PS Elements and virtual memory is on, you may not have enough phsyical space to save the file (but not likely)
P.S. I see (after i wrote) that you are running 9.2.2 - so the paths will not be the same as if it was on OS X - but they will be similar.

  • Photoshop CS3 color management "Save for Web" problem

This problem is getting the best of me.......
After spending 3 full days researching this problem, I am no closer to finding an answer than when I started. I still cannot produce a usable image through the "Save for Web" feature of Photoshop CS3. I have read web page after web page of "Tips, Tricks and Recommendations" from dozens of experts, some from this forum, and still I have no solution... I am exhausted and frustrated to say the least. Here's the simple facts that I know at this point.
I have a web design project that was started in PS CS1. All artwork was created in photoshop and exported to JPG format by using "Save for Web". Every image displays correctly in these browsers (Safari, Camino, FireFox and even Internet Explorer on a PC).
I have recently upgraded to PS CS3 and now cannot get any newly JPG'd image to display correctly. My original settings in CS1 were of no concern to me at the time, because it always just worked, and so I do not know what they were. I have opened a few of my previous images in CS3 and found that sRGB-2.1 displays them more or less accurately. I am using sRGB 2.1 working space. Upon openning these previous image files, I get the "Missing Profile" message and of course I select "Leave as is. Do Not color manage". CS3 assumes sRGB-2.1 working space, opens the file, and all is well.
The problem is when I go to "Save for Web", the saturation goes up, and the colors change. The opposite of what most people are reporting. Here's another important point... new artwork created in CS3 does exactly the same thing, so it's not because of the older CS1 files.
I have tried every combination of "uncompensated color", "Convert to sRGB", "ICC Profile", etc. while saving. I have Converted to sRGB before saving, and my monitor is calibrated correctly.
I have tried setting the "Save for Web" page on 2-up and the "original" on the left is already color shifted before I even hit the "Save" button. Of course, the "Optimized" image on the right looks perfect because I am cheating by selecting the "Use Document Color Profile" item. Why do they even have this feature if doesn't work, or misleads you?
Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening here? Why is this all so screwed up?
CS1 worked fine out of the box.
Final note: I do have an image file I could send along that demonstrates how it is possible to display an image exactly the same in all 4 of the browsers I mentioned with no color differences. It is untagged RGB and somehow it just works.
I am very frustrated with all of this and any suggestions will be appreciated
    Thanks,
    Pete

    >> First of all... I'm using an Adobe RGB image master... I open it and get the Profile Mismatch Screen... I choose Use Enbedded profile... all looks well. Next I go to Proof Setup > Monitor RGB... again all looks well, no change that I can tell.
This has further confused the issue on several points, not the least of which version PS you are doing this with?
    >> AdobeRGB> Convert to Profile > Working Space sRGB-2.1... all still looks well... but now, when I go to Proof Setup > Monitor RGB... I see the insane oversaturated look that is driving me nuts.
That is your strongest clue...it sounds like you have a bad system or bad monitor profile. To rule out the monitor profile: Set sRGB as your monitor profile in System Prefs> Displays> Color.
    >> Adobe RGB image master... I open it and get the Profile Mismatch Screen... I choose Use Enbedded profile... all looks well. Next I go to Proof Setup > Monitor RGB... again all looks well
That doesn't make sense, stripping an embedded AdobeRGB profile should desaturate the color in Softproof MonitorRGB, especially the reds -- you have something wacky going on there.
At this point I think you need to review the links and get a grip about how color management and profiles work...
BTW, forget about setting ColorSync in PS COlor Settings, use Adobe ACE.
    MO,
I think SFW is fixed under CS3 :) By default it Converts to sRGB and strips the profile.

  • GIF/Save for Web problem (PSE 7)

I've tried searching for an answer to this problem but nothing seems to address quite what's happening.
I recently had to replace my laptop, and switched from Windows XP to Windows 7.  I transferred PSE 7 from the old system to the new system, and have had no trouble with it- until now.  I have a 52-layer Photoshop-format image that I would like to save as an animated .gif, with each layer as a different frame.  File >> Save As has the option to save Layers as Frames, but if I check it, then click "Save", nothing happens.  Nothing at all.  On my old system, I'd get a new dialogue with options like quality, duration per frame, loop, etc, but that's not happening anymore, and nothing saves (if I go to find the new .gif file, it's just not there). If I DON'T choose "Layers as Frames", the .gif dialogue comes up just fine, and it has no trouble saving as a static .gif.  But it seems that it's just refusing to save it in animated format.
I'm having the same issue with "Save For Web".  Neither the file menu option or the keystroke command will bring up the dialogue to let me save it that way.  It thinks for maybe a second, but then doesn't do anything else, and doesn't save the image.
I've already tried resetting the layout, just in case the dialogue box was shifted somewhere I just wasn't seeing, and I tried resetting the Save For Web preferences, but neither of those things worked.  Any explanation as to why an animated "Layers as Frames" .gif is the only format that isn't saving properly?
I've also tried opening old animated .gifs that I created with XP, and they will not re-save as animated .gifs either.  I get the "Do you want to save the changes made" dialogue, but clicking "Yes" doesn't do anything and doesn't save the updates.  I'm at a complete loss for why this function no longer works.

    Glad you got it working.
It takes some getting use to the differences between xp and windows 7
in regards to permissions and all that stuff. Even when you install
programs on an administrative account, problems still persist sometimes.
What i do is always install programs by right clicking on the installer and
choosing Run as Administrator even when installing on an account with administrative
permissions. I seem to have less problems doing it that way. Anyway, just something to
keep in mind for the future.

  • Ps CS6 Save For Web - various resampling choices give identical result

    Ps CS6
    OS X 10.6.8
Save For Web offers 5 resampling algorithms (the same 5 as in Image Size, ignoring "Bicubic Automatic", of course) for when the output is being resized.
All choices except "Nearest Neighbor" output an identical image (which is different to all results of Image Size). Although the "Bilinear" output contains the same pixels as the output of the 3 bicubics, its file size is slightly different then their shared file size.
I normally resize with Image Size, so this post is not a request for help. This is only to alert Adobe to the apparent problem.

  • Photoshop CS4 Save for Web JPEG Colors are Off

Ok, I've scoured the web to see about finding a solution for this and tried every possible option and still I'm coming up empty handed. I have a website that I'm developing for a painter and have an image converted to sRGB, and the colors are where I want them to be. I use Save for Web, and every iteration suggested online for the, embed and don't embed, convert to sRGB and dont' covert, use document color profile, use windows, yada yada. Here's a recent example:
when i preview the image with Firefox, here's the difference:
The photoshop version is on the left and is the color that I want/need. The image on the right is firefox and saturated. If I save for web with embedded profile, safari is accurate, whereas firefox is saturated, so it's obviously discarding the icc and using some color space that I can't see in my file. I did notice that if I have my Custom, Proof and select Monitor RGB, then I can see what firefox will ultimately display and also what Safari will display if i have Embed ICC Profile unchecked in the save for web dialogue box.
I know that CS2 and CS3 were easier and less squirrely with color managing web files, but I think CS4 has some juju under the hood. Am I the only one out there frustrated, or like other web developers just accept the inaccuracy and move on? Since this is fine art, I'm doing my best to dial the color in, but it's been all afternoon beating on this.
Any ideas, I'm ready to install CS3 and see if my life will be easier, but I'm wondering if having Photoshop CS3 and CS4 will cause any issues.

    >> your logic
That's my rant and I'm sticking to it.
The OP wrote he doesn't want or need to discuss the pros and cons of embedding profiles in Web images, but for the sake of anyone else reading this:
    1) Embedded ICC Profiles increase file sizes (about 4K per image).
    a) I may have over 100 thumbnails and dozens of photos on one page,
    b) Plus, I may have an image sliced into many pieces.
    c) That additional 4k per image, per slice, will add up fast and may kill dial-up traffic.
    2) Very few computers use color-managed web browsers or calibrated monitors anyway, and
    3) Problems with matching/blending image's edges or background color with a filled box or page color.
    d) If I tag the image — on Mac colormanaged browsers — the color will mismatch the box/page color on managed browsers because the tagged image is being Converted to MonitorRGB, and the untagged page or box color is having MonitorRGB Applied.
    e) This matching or blending a pixel-based graphic to page color is a pretty big deal to do correctly in professional web publishing.
    f) If I publish untagged sRGB images/graphics, the box/page color will match the images and blend correctly in all browsers.
I WILL QUALIFY my general recommendation about embedding profiles in pixel-based web images for the following reasons:
    1) You are posting fine-art images, creative portfolios, and are not worried about adding 4K additional data per image, per slice.
    2) You are not worried about having Mac visitors seeing graphic blends or photos mismatched to a background color.
    3) You understand only properly-profiled monitors and color-managed web browsers will benefit from your embedded profile — and it is likely 99% of web surfers don't have either — however, if you are targeting the one percent who do, then there is your number one best reason for tagging web photos with embedded profiles.

  • CS6 "Save for Web" "Convert to sRGB" Issues

    Hello,
I'm aiming to take RAW photo files, edit them in a wide color space, and when posting them to the web, save them as sRGB.
    My workspace is as follows:
I open RAW files in Photoshop via ACR as 16-bit ProPhoto smart objects.
When I finish editing them, I use "Save for Web" with the "Convert to sRGB" and "Embed Color Profile" boxes checked.
Photoshop and Bridge tell me the profile in photos saved as such is sRGB as expected. When I upload to a site like flickr, however, the metadata says the photo is still in ProPhoto. See an example here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nrbelex/7950202448/meta/in/photostream
If I use "Convert to Profile" and change it to sRGB, then upload to flickr, the metadata says the photo is in sRGB, as it should be.
    What am I missing here?
    Thanks!

Without using Flickr, I'm not seeing any problem with any of the color-managed software I have here.
The ProPhoto test file I prepared, when Save For Web is used, is saved with sRGB numbers and (since I checked the box) has the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile embedded in it.
Photoshop re-opens the file and correctly judges that it has the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 profile.
A search through the binary data from the file Saved For Web using a text editor turns up a number of references to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, but none to ProPhoto RGB.
Your first image above, however, has BOTH references to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and ProPhoto RGB, the latter appearing in a string of text data that looks like:

  • Photoshop CC Save for Web Greyed out

After the last Creative Cloud Photoshop update my Photoshop CC 64 bit save for web is greyed out and I can no longer save as a png. Using Windows 7
    How can I correct this.
    thanks,
    Buddy

I have the same problem. Save for web grayed out no matter what. Also photoshop denies opening any png file, also the png format sometimes doesn't even appear in Save as.
I can import png by choosing Open As and selecting Camera Raw. But then I can't save as png again. QC slacking at Adobe or what? Never experienced these kinds of difficulties with earlier versions. Might just as well brush off my old CS4 masters collection.
Will try a reinstall although I frankly don't have the time to wait for the endless download.
