Photoshop CS6 shows up as duplicate installations

I was having issues opening Photoshop CS6 on my Mac after a system update. I contacted Adobe customer service and was told to uninstall and reinstall. It worked, expect now when I try to open Photoshop it lists two installations of it in my finder, there's no way to tell them apart except only one of them works. How do I remove the broken application?

  • Just purchased photoshop cs6 for windows and received installation disk.

Just purchased photoshop cs6 for windows and received installation disk.  Where do you find the serial number on the disk?  What should the serial number start with?  The disk was in the original box and I see a number that start with 910.....
The box was in a brown envelope and there is barcode sticker on the back with more numbers.  Where should I look for the actual serial number.

  • Photoshop CS6 Show/Hide Polygons issue

Hi. I am doing an assignment for class, using Photoshop CS6, and I am having problems with the show/hide polygons feature. After hiding the polygons of the unselected area, I am able to reveal the entire object by choosing "Reveal All". However, if I ever need to invert the other polygons, by choosing 'Invert Visible", and then want to reveal the entire object again, all it does is inverts it back the other way around. Is this a bug, or is this how it works?

I apologize for the confusion. Let me try to start over, following the instructions you are asking to provide. The computer that has Photoshop installed is from school, so I will try the best I can giving you detailed specs. For what I know, It is a PC running Windows 7 64bit, but I do not know the amount of RAM as I do not have permission to access the control panel or any of its system settings. The version of Photoshop is CS6 13.0 Extended, and its performance preferences re the following...
    Available Ram: 34827MB
    IdealRange: 1884-2467MB
    Allow Photoshop to use: 2056MB
    HardDrive: 835GB
as for the error, there is no error. I might of not been specific, but I am not stupid not to include the type of error if there was any...
Other things like the grand total ram, video card, and video ram are all accessible by the administrator only.
the file I am working on, is an imported 3ds Max file. I was trying to use Photoshop's 3D painting tool, and from what I understand, it is possible to hide polygons by selecting an area you would like to keep, and what is not selected gets hidden. This is supposed to be good for painting areas that are behind parts of the mesh that is in the way. From the instruction, you are suppose to select the area that you want to keep, and then choose 3d->Show/Hide Polygons->Within Selection. This part I was able to do. Once I was happy with what I needed to paint, I then selected 3d->Show/Hide Polygons-> invert. This allowed me to continue painting other hard areas of the mesh by revealing what was hidden and hides what is visible. Then, when I was ready to reveal the entire mesh back, I was thinking that I should be able to do this by clicking on 3d->Show/Hide Polygon->Reveal All. However, this only reverts the visibility back the other way around as if I clicked on revert.
So what I was wondering is if this is how the 3d reveal all tool works or is this a bug?
I hope this clear things up, if not, please let me know.

  • Why does photoshop cs6 show two camera raw plugins?

I'm running CS6 on a Mac Pro 1,1 version 10.6.8. I installed the most recent update from adobe (8.4). I did the full install and apparently it's only meant for version 10.7 and higher, but my CS6 still works. I did remove that camera raw file and installed the recommended one (ACR V 8.3.0.141). The program is slower now. When I click on 'About Plug in' it lists 2 'Camera Raw' folders. (there is only one camera raw plug in within the 'File Formats' folder, I did remove the 8.4 version) When I click on the first one it pops up an error message: Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found. I also am now getting this message occasionally when trying to open jpg files. When I click on the second Camera Raw it pops up the plug in Version 8.3.0.141. Is there any way of un-installing that update or the first version of the plug in?

Please file an Adobe (not Apple) crash report the next time it crashes and send me the email address you used in the crash report. That way we get all the important information we need to help figure this out.

  • Photoshop cs6 install administrator error - Windows 7 64-bit

I have attempted installation of Photoshop CS6 repeatedly following a fresh installation of Windows 7 64-bit.  Initially running into the error stating Administrator Rights is required to run this upgrade image, I forced it to Run as Administrator.
I forced the installer to verify my Adobe ID at the "Sign In Required" page by selecting "Not your Adobe ID?), then entering my email address and password.
Following selection of both Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64Bit) and Adobe Photoshop CS6 (32Bit), and clicking Install, I receive the error:
    Setup.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).  Click OK to close the application
Once I click OK, the persistent Administrator error appears:
"Administrator privileges are required in install.  Please log in as an administrator."  I already am logged in as an administrator on this system.
Any solutions to these errors?  I have successfully installed, and ran, Photoshop CS6 on this system (as recently as 3 days ago, before the need to perform the total system wipe, and Windows 7 reinstall)

that's a microsoft error message which can have a number of causes and solutions.
the less likely to work but easy to implement:

  • Photoshop CS6 on Lion:  Won't open - Java Needs To Be Installed

Mac OS X Lion doesn't ship with a Java VM.  Adobe Photoshop CS6 requires this, but its installer neither checks for a Java VM nor alerts you to this fact.
Symptom:  You installed Photoshop CS6 beta on Mac OS X Lion, which was a feat in and of itself (see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/978507 and http://forums.adobe.com/thread/978912).  The application bounces once but fails to open.  No error message is displayed.
If you're sharp, you'll notice the following messages appearing in Console (Diagnostic and Usage Messages) whenever you try to open Photoshop:
    <time> Download Java Components: com.apple.message.domain: com.apple.java.usage2.DownloadOnDemand.complete
    com.apple.message.result: failure
    com.apple.message.signature: install_canceled
    com.apple.message.domain.version: <Mac OS X Lion build number>
Resolution:  You need to install the Java VM for Mac OS X Lion, which you can get from Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421).

    Hi Gerrit,
    Thanks. We're aware of this.
Photoshop CS6 doesn't really require the Java VM (we've removed this dependency in CS6) - OS X just has a special bit that thows that alert if Photoshop is being installed. We're working with Apple to correct this prior to official launch.

  • Help updating Photoshop 5.1 into Creative Suite Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
I recently purchased the Adobe Creative Suite (CS6.0). About a year and a half ago I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 and I have been using it heavily and customizing it. I have installed the Creative Suite and Photoshop CS6 shows up as a completely different application than Photoshop CS5.1. How do I transfer all my custom brushes, swatches and other settings to Adobe CS6? Is there a way to just update the 5.1 into 6.0 while retaining all my settings?
    Thanks,
    JNPenny

  • Adobe photoshop cs6 wont show installation

    Hi,
I am currently trying to download the adobe photoshop CS6 trial version. When I attempt to install the program I can see the gui box shape of the installer. However, I see nothing inside of the box and cannot proceed to install the program? There is no words or options for me to select from. Is there anything wrong with my MBP or is it the application?.
    Thank you.
MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

JayCz have you ever install Photoshop CS6 successfully on this computer previously?  You may want to check Font Book to verify the conditions of the fonts installed on your computer.  I would also recommend redownloading a fresh copy of the installation files.  Please see http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-product-downloads.html for a link to download the Photoshop CS6 installation files.

  • Wire Worm Plug-in and Photoshop CS6 64bit installation on a Win 7 64b

I think I didn't install the 32 bit version from the DVD and thinking this is a 64bit machine I only opted for the 64bit version of Photoshop CS6.  Now the weired thing is it installed in the Program Files folder and not in the Program Files (x86) folder, I didn't change any default destination given by the installer.  The about screen of the application shows a 64bit version of the Photoshop.  Now the problem is I want my Wire Worm plug-in to work in Photoshop, developer advises to launch 32 bit version to make it work and deploy the plug-in in the respective plug-in folder in the program files.  What to do?
This is a 64bit Windows 7 machine with an Intel i7-3940XM Processor and 32Gs of RAM

It seems you did not installed PS 32 bit, Please install it from the Disc again and verify Program Files (x86) folder, it should be there after successful installation.

I am unable to reinstall Photoshop CS6 (I do have the serial number) on my Macbook Pro 10.9.5 (Mavericks os). and am getting the message "Installation on case-sensitive volumes is not supported.  Please choose a different volume for installation."  I am further told that "Adobe apps cannot be installed on case-sensitive drives, you need to Install the product onto an HFS+ or HFSJ non-case-sensitive drive."
What I don't understand is this:  I originally bought and installed Photoshop CS6 back in March 2013, and it worked fine.  Yesterday my hard drive had to be replaced and my computer person salvaged as much of what was on it as he could, but now I have to reinstall Photoshop.  1) Why did it work before and it's not working now?  2) Is there anything I can do that does not involve reformatting the hard drive?

It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

  • Installer failed to initialize: unable to install Photoshop CS6 from download

I'm unable to install photoshop CS6 from download. I've downloaded to required two files (Photoshop_13_LS16.7z and Photoship_13_LS16) and double clicked on the second file. This appeared to extract a number of files and folders to a newly created C:/users/lester/desktop/adobe CS6/Photoshop/ folder. I found a file called "Set-up.exe" inside the .../Adobe CS6/ folder and double clicked it. When I double click, a status bar says "initializing installer" for a few seconds, I get the following error message:

    Get Adobe Support Advisor
Nothing else is running in Windows. The adobe support advisor link is useless because the page says support advisor was discontinued. The "how to download" PDF on the download page was useless (for CD disk downloads only). Any ideas?

Thanks Jeff - I decided to do a complete reinstall of Windows because of this issue and others with unwanted popups I accidentally downloaded. Hopefully things will go smoother the third time around, just as they did a few days ago when I did install PS CS6 without any problems.
