Photoshop CS6 start screen displays circles

My Photoshop CS6 start screen displays circles around its rectangular shape. Can anyone tell me why?
I am using version 13.0.4 x64 on Macintosh OSX 10.9.2
Here is what the screen looks like:

I was a bit confused myself, because the splash screen with the circles was not something I recognized, but a quick look round revealed the screen above is for CS6 Standard.  The alternative screen turns out to be for the Extended version, and since it is only the serial number that differentiates between Standard and Extended, both splash screens must be on your drive somewhere.

This list only goes up to CS2, but is fascinating all the same.  Hmmm...  I suddenly feel like my geek factor shot up after typing the last sentence.

My Photoshop CS6 start screen displays circles around its rectangular shape. Has the program become corrupted? Should I reinstall it?

  • Photoshop CS6 splash screen info

  • Photoshop CS6 Starts Slow

I had CS5 and installed CS6 32 and 64 bit.  All was going well.  The Photoshop splash screen would appear as soon as I started it.
Then, in order to troubleshoot some bug, I removed and reinstalled CS6 32 and 64.  Now there is about a seven second or longer delay before the splash screen appears.  If I stop Photoshop and restart it, it's as fast as it used to be.
So that makes me think I have something in my start up list that's no longer running.  In going through WinPatrol, I have stopped ADOBE ARM and AdobeCS5ServiceManager from running on start up, however, it seems to me those were not running before.
In services, Adobe SwitchBoard is set to manual and is not running.  But that service doesn't run when P'shop is running.  Any ideas?

Run your disk utility to repair permissions, use tools like OnyX to remove stray temp files, check PS' recovery function and memory settings. Contrary to urban legend, Macs are not indestructible and can suffer such systemic issues as well.

  • Photoshop CS6 won't display my current font

I'm having issues with fonts in CS6. Some issues I see are
Highlighting text won't tell me what font family I'm actually using
Also to change fonts I have to first highlight the text and then change it to a random font and then choose the font I want.
Am I the only one having font issues?

Usually, if you don't see a font family listed when you have text selected, it's because you have multiple different fonts in use in the selected text. Upon selecting the Type tool, you should already see a font selected, which will be the last font used. If you just place the prompt in the line of text is should display the font of the character immediately to the left, is the font family still blank?
On the second item, with the above info, if you select text that uses mulitple fonts, causing the font family to go blank, it will not be filled with a font again until you select text that uses a single font family. Use the suggestion above about just placing the type prompt next to a single character to display just that one font.
Also, for your workaround, why choose a random font? Why can't you just go straight to the font you want?

  • I keep having to load actions each time photoshop cs6 starts (pc).  How do I fix this so it will be there again on startup?

    anyone?? Help is appreciated..

Both Apple and Microsoft like to hid thing one users. They think it for your own protection. They want us to use their OS with blinders on while they operate under the covers. Blinders just make important thing hard to deal with.  I have not use an Mac in over ten years only have an iPod for IMO he is no better MP3 player and it 3:2  high resolution display is great for showing snapshots.
The first thing I do whenever I get a new Windows machine is to remove Microsoft Blinders.  If you us windows use its control Panel or File Explored Folder option and set the view options so you're not blinded.  You will be able to find file like your Photoshop Preferences ads Action Palette preferences.  Mac will also have some options the let finder do its job. The screenshot shows Ps in mode "Full Screen with Menus" which is what I was talking about at the beginning. If F key isn't cycling the modes then the lowest button on the Toolbar has a flyout for the three modes. Menu View > Screen Mode contains the three modes, too. Switch mode to Standard.
Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts will let you assign F or some other key to the modes if your setup somehow doesn't have these default shortcuts.

  • Photoshop CS6 freezes before splash screen (Mavericks)

    13-inch MacBook Pro 2012 (June), 2.9GHz i7, 8GB of Apple RAM (no third-party RAM), 750GB drive, non-Retina display, OS X 10.9.1. In use for over a year under 10.8.x.
Creative Suite CS6 Production Premium (Academic License) installed. Upgraded from 10.8.5 where Photoshop CS6 ran successfully until upgrading to 10.9. Upgrading to 10.9.1 didn't help. Reverting to 10.8.5 fixes things. Adobe Drive has never been installed. Lightroom 4 is installed. Trial of InDesign CC is installed, and it was installed under 10.8.5, too.
Only Photoshop CS6 is affected; other CS6 apps in the suite work fine under 10.9.x. After upgrading to 10.9, Photoshop CS6 will work for maybe a day, then it will launch with a menu bar and menu choices, but none of them work. The Photoshop CS6 splash screen never appears.
It appears to be OS X user-account related. If a new OS X user is created, Photoshop CS6 works.
CS6 suite has been removed and reinstalled; no positive effect. Adobe's CS6 uninstaller has been downloaded and CS6 suite reinstalled; no positive effect. Photoshop .plist file has been deleted; no positive effect.
    Any help appreciated! Thanks!

Because Photoshop will launch successfully with a different OS X user account, can someone suggest which specific Console log(s) in both accounts to investigate (or search for the existence of) that may help diagnose why Photoshop won't launch?
    Additional behavior:
In the problematic account, Photoshop starts to launch, and its menus appear. Many menus are black, but when you select a menu choice (such as Photoshop > About Photoshop or File > Open), then all Photoshop menus and choices gray out. Then you have to force quit Photoshop.
However, if you first (while menu choices are still black) choose File > Open in Bridge CS6 (or words to that effect), then Bridge will open.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS6 Cloud 13.1.1 32-bit & 64-bit keeps asking to licence software at start twice

Photoshop CS6 Cloud 13.1.1 32-bit & 64-bit keeps asking to licence software at start twice. Once when i start it and again once I sign in? I recently refreshed the host file in windows to see if helped but not.
    Regards
    James Howarth

    Hi James,
This is a known issue with Photoshop CS6 specifically and will be addressed with a future update soon.
The temporary solutions are to either uninstall Photoshop CS6 and not install the 13.1.1 update or continue signing in every few launches until an update is released.
We have this document about the issue here:

  • Photoshop CS6 has changed to Photoshop CS6 Extended. Why?

I have had to reload my original software, a registered upgrade of Photoshop CS5 to Photoshop CS6 and then using software update and updating what was downloaded. When I did this all was well for a little while, a few days, then I got a message that I needed to sign in and I did this wondering why I had to do it, and suddenly I realised my Potoshop CS6 is now Photoshop CS6 Extended. What's happened? I was also informed that I was using a trial version of this and now I cannot get rid of it. Do you need Serial No.? Please advise.

    Good day!
I was also informed that I was using a trial version of this and now I cannot get rid of it.
The trial is Extended, so you seem to be working in trial mode.
It seems several people have the same or similar issues, check out

  • How do I get the trial version for Photoshop CS6 extended from the Creative Cloud Trial

    Hello ...
Plz I wanted to downlad the trial version of Photoshop CS6 Extended and I followed this link
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop&loc=en_us
Then I chose this option : Option 2: Join Creative Cloud and download now (Recommended - it's free)
Then the adobe application manager has been installed and the photoshop CS6 started to be installed automaticaaly and after it done , I found it the standard version not the Extended ... So how and where can I get the Extended version for both 32 bit and 64 bit?
Your prompt reply is highly appreciated
    Thank you ....

So if you download the trial from the trial page at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop you get Photoshop CS6 Extended.  When you then remove the trial and reinstall from the Adobe Application Manager with your trial Creative Cloud you only see the Standard version?
If this is so you can try reviewing your installation logs by following the steps listed in Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.  Although your 30 day trial has already begun.  I would recommend for now you just remove the installation and install from the trial page so that you can try the extended features.

  • Mac OSX Photoshop CS6 keep asking for serial number

Hi, I don't know why, but since few days ago, my photoshop CS6 started to pop up with the trial message and ask me to enter serial number. However, I'm on a one year subscription for photoshop CS6 only, there is no serial number.
I opened the software, and choosed "lincese this software" and then signed in with my adobe ID.  After that, the message ask me for serial number.  This didn't happen before.
    My systme is :
Now it says I only have one day for the trial. Please help me to resolve this.
    Thanks
    Eric

@CKPAD.co - The Adobe ID you are using to post here has never signed up for the Creative Cloud, not even a free/trial account. Are you using a different Adobe ID for a Creative Cloud subscription? If not this would be the correct behavior. The 30 day trial ends and you can either puchase a perpetual license (serial number) or a Creative Cloud subscription.
Feel free to follow up with me by email at [email protected] since I do not want you share private information like your email address in public forum.
