Photoshop cut and paste bug

HI,
I often take screenshots from my screen. I do this by hitting the 'PrtScrn' button on my keyboard. Then I go to PHotoshop, make a new image and paste, but it doesn't paste the recently copied screen that is in the clipboard...?! Does anyone have experience with this and know how to fix it?

Rob (post #1) on a good day, yes, but sometimes, often to be honest, it doesn't put the proper dimensions in OR paste the proper image.
Ok, yeah, because the clipboard date is still there for other programs, so I think it's a PS bug. I knew about closing and reopening, but what a PITA.
At least I'm not the only one. Thanks all.

Cut and paste bug

Im having an issue with cut and paste commands. I can't paste anything unless I copy first then cut. If I cut then try to paste edit>paste will be shaded out and commandX does nothing. Sometimes its not shaded out but will paste what I have previously copied.
I found this out during a tutorial in which I had to cut and paste an effects paint layer to a new solid.
Im using CS5.5 on Macbook pro i7 8GB OSX 10.7.2.
So far I have tried - resetting preferences on start up. - Edit> purge >all. - Turning off system shortcuts. -Rebooting. None of these have made a difference. Anyone else had or having this issue? Any advise on what I should do next to try and resolve? Cheers.

Followed your steps exactly and it's exactly like I said in my previous post. Cut and paste works for effects. Here's exactly what I did except for the part where I created the worst illustrator art that I've ever seen. Just two layers, lovely colors. The .ai file is imported as a comp with retain layer sizes selected. A black brush is chosen set to write on and silhouette luma. The size is adjusted to cover the line easily, I paint on the line, press the e key to reveal the effect in the timeline. It's there, it's also in the ECW so I select the effect, cut it, go to the composition, use Cmnd+Y to create a new layer and paste Cmnd + V and the paint effect is applied to the solid.
There's something going on with your machine, some third party plug-in, some other app, some other issue that's preventing this from working.
Here's my little movie of the whole experiment.
I'd make sure that your AE version is the latest, that you have your memory and processing set to the defaults, and that you're not running any other apps while testing AE. If there's still a problem, file a bug. Your machine is not behaving as my machine and every other Mac I routinely work on is behaving.

Cut and Paste Bug with SUM( )

If SUM( ) refers to multiple ranges, and one of those ranges is Cut and then Pasted to another location, the SUM( ) function is not changed to reflect the new location of those Cut and Pasted cells. Instead, SUM( ) continues to refer to the original locations.
I tried this in Excel and it works well.

Cut and paste bug within Symbols - anyone else?

I've come across a bug in Illustrator CS6. When I cut and paste content from within a symbol into the same or another symbol it pastes all the content from that symbol into it again.
Anyone else having this issue?
I can provide screenshots to help explain.

Same issue here, this is a major problem for me as i use symbols all the time. First time i've had the issue with CS6 - maybe it was always there....
If i cut some text from selected text inside a symbol and paste that text back into another symbol, all the text contained within the first symbol gets pasted even though it was not seletced!

Cut and Paste (like in Photoshop)?

Does Aperture have those cut and paste features like in Photoshop?
I want to take a person from one photo and place them in a 2nd.

to integrate a person in another photo you'd need to create a mask and work on layers. these are clearly tasks that will require photoshop.
however, if you'd like to create simple collages, layering photos on top of each other can of course be done in aperture with the light table.

Problem: Mac OS X Photoshop 2014, cut and paste shortcuts intermittent?

I've been suffering this since I installed CC, and just found out my colleagues have the same problem.
Cut and paste shortcuts for Photoshop are intermittent. I have two open documents (single layer JPGs I've just opened), CMD A to select all, then CMD C to copy the entire layer ... then I switch over to my other JPG to CMD V to paste one image on top of the other.
Often, on my first attempt, nothing happens. I have to repeat, CMD A, CMD C, CMD V between the two images, two or three times to get the image onto the clipboard and paste it.
Sometimes, CMD V ends up pasting what's already on the clipboard.
So why I am I frequently experiencing intermittent copy-paste?

If a tool is behaving erratically, first try resetting just that tools preferences, via the below method:
FAQ: How do I reset my preferences?
If you have larger troubles, hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop. A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences/settings file. This one solves and fixes most of the most rare problems.

LR4 and Photoshop CS5 cut and paste?

I've begun using LR4 for website photo editing, but I'm finding that I still need to move the LR modified images into PS for cropping, final size, and resolution adjustments. When I chose Photo>Edit in>Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5, I've been selecting, "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments", which works fine.
However, when I cut and paste the resized LR image into another PS document, usually a master template, ALL of my LR adjustments dissapear and the photo is restored to its original settings. How can I keep all of the LR adjustments during a cut and paste operation within PS?

Bug With iTunes 6 cut and paste?

I've just installed iTunes 6, when I try to cut and paste lyrics into the lyrics box, it doubles the paste (it does it twice). I'm not having this problem in any other app, and I've rebooted, and it is still happening. Very very very annoying. Has anyone else had this problem. Is there a work around? I've replicated the problem on my G5 desktop.

Yes, but that was posted before 6.0.1, and they didn't fix it in 6.0.1...
He did not say it would be in the next update (6.0.1) which cam out very quickly, but that it would be fixed in a future update. At least you know they are aware of the problem and are working on it.

I can use cut and paste in Rich Text Editors for all web site hosts but one. I have tried the solution you provided, but it doesn't work. Any ideas? the website that rejects cut and paste is Network Solutions

I really hoped you would fix the security policy issue in release 4. I have to close Firefox and use IE9 to maintain a website I built with Network Solutions and I'd much rather not have to endure the slowness of IE. I also have websites with Wix and WEBS and have no problems at all using cut and paste with them.

Did you have it connected to the library mac when it froze? If so, why? I would be hesitant to hook my ipod to a unprotected public computer since it may be infested with viruses or have unknown hardware problems.
In any case, if you can get it to an Apple store they can probably help you with it, it sounds like it needs replacing.
A certain percentage of any complex product will turn out to be defective and will have to be returned, it sounds like you were unlucky enough to get one. Looking over the forums here it may seem like the ipod is plagued with bugs, but don't forget that there are millions who never have a problem and so have no reason to pipe up here. Personally I think Apple deserves a thumbs up for continuing to host these forums in spite of how they may cast a negative light on thier products to the casual observer.

I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
This is the problem:
The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?

No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
(In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to.

I have tried downloading several fonts, including those from professional societies, but the only way to get Hebrew in my document is to cut and paste. Does anyone know how to fix this? I use an older MacBook running OS 10.9.1. I used to do my Hebrew work in Word, but it is no longer supported by Mac OS.

Just clarifying:
Pages '09 has bad support for Hebrew, Arabic etc but will accept pasted text.
Pages 5 has much better support but with bugs.
If you have columns they are in the wrong order ie Text starts in the left column and ends in the right column.
If you type English into Hebrew text it tends to fall in the wrong position eg instead of to the left of Hebrew punctuation it goes to the right.
As Tom recommends the only real solution on the Mac is Mellel.

Cut and Paste between Events not working

Using iPhoto11, I can drag and drop pictures between events, no problem...but Cut and Paste does not work.
I select a photo and cut in event A, go to event B, I right click and get a PAST button, It even clicks but nothing happen, the Cut image never gets pasted.
Is this a bug? whats the solution?

To delete the test user, go to the black apple menu, click on system preferences, then on accounts. From an administrator account, click on the "test" user and hit the "-" key. when the dialog box comes up, hit "delete the home folder" and it will be gone.
For the startup disk issue you should repair permissions. From the finder, click on the "go" menu, then on "utilities". Select disc utility. Select your HD and click on repair disk permissions. This will take several minutes (5 or more).
If that has not done the trick then you may need to reset the parameter ram (PRAM). Turn your computer off. When you turn it back on, simultaneously hold 4 keysL command-option-p-r. Keep holding them. The startup chime will ring. Continue to hold until you have heard the chime at least 2 times (more won't help or hurt). Then release.

Cut and paste from text field not working in early access JRE 1.90-ea-b38

I noticed that cut and paste no longer works with JRE 1.9 on Windows 7 professional. Anyone else having that problem?

Again why do you have a custom TableModel? It is not required for the SSCCE and in fact is not required for your real program.
Why is KeyListener code included. It has notthing to do with your question.
2) I also suggested you add the mouse listener to the text area. Well, the text area is defined in the popup dialog, not the editor in my original SSCCE. So why have you made the code so complex by defining a second text area?
I did look at your sample program (the table with pop-up menu appearing on right-click) That was only a wild guess because you didn't respond the second time when I asked you why the mouse listener wasn't added to the text area.

Cut and paste irregularities

I am makeing an image for a customer. I am looking to take some text that was made on one art board and move it to another where I am assembling the complete image. However when I drage from one art board to the other the size of the cut and pasted art changes and the look of all its effects change as well. The two documents have the same deminsions and the same resolution and color profiles. Does any one know why this might be happening? Here is an example:

If you are looking for pre-installed montage templates maybe you were thinking of Photoshop Elements.
