Photoshop doesn't render a pdf file correctly.

When i opened a pdf file made in Illustrator (Mac version) it showed a preview like this:
But when it was opened, the file looked like this:
As you can see, the text "RADIO TV" is missing, though it must be there.
That happens only when I open it in it's native CMYK mode, otherwise (RGB, LAB or GRAY) it renders ok.
When I open the file in Acrobat, it shows the text normally, (as on the first picture).
So I looked at the file closely in Illustrator, and found that all the layers are mostly with the same features, but why Photoshop treats them differently???
It's a vital question for me, as I work in a printing company, and we've lost money and can lose clients because of the error.

Have you asked in the Illustrator forum?
If you export a layered file to PDF from Photoshop using a Hight Quality print preset, it keeps text and shapes vectored.  You can carry on zooming in on the PDF and still see fully sharp text and objects.  But if you bring that same PDF back into Photoshop, it rasterizes the entire document unless you check 'maintain Photoshop layers' (something like that) when exporting to PDF.
So I am wondering what options there are when exporting to PDF from Illustrator, (at which I am still very much still learning).  The Illustrator forum guys will be able to answer that in a flash I am sure.

  • Preview doesn't always display .pdf files correctly....

    Some .pdfs I open come up with some logos or pictures and the background colours - however the writing is all coloured blocks, and completely useless. Why does this happen?

    There are numerous reports of this on this (and other) boards.  I did some sleuthing when we had this issue occur as part of a work project.  Looks like something is broken with font-linking, which is apparently a relatively newer "feature" of the PDF format.  The way we have fixed it (we hope), is to have things save in the PDF/A format, which is an archival subformat of PDF that doesn't use icky things that cause this problem.  Looks the same as PDF and opens seamlessly.  On Windows MS Word 2007, you use PDF/A by doing "Save As", selecting PDF, then clicking "Options".  The last check box mentions "ISO something-or-another PDF/A".  Check that, and they seem to work.
    Of course, this helps if you or your organization are the creators of the PDFs in question.  If you're an end-user and they aren't willing/able to address the issue, your workaround would be to use Adobe Reader to open it. Slower and annoying, but at least you can read it.
    Hope this helps...

  • Doesn't open the PDF file (i.e. articles, books pages). It appears a black page. Thanks for help

    Safari doesn't open the PDF file (articles, book page, etc). It appears a black page. Before that it was working perfectly. Thank for your help

    Try this ...
    Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go.
    If you see the:  AdobePDFViewer plugin (or anything Adobe related) in the Internet Plug-Ins folder, move it to the trash.
    Restart your Mac and try opening a PDF file.

  • Firefox doesn't render my web page correctly other browsers do

    Hi My website works correctly in IE9, Safari, Opera and Chrome but Firefox doesn't render my Contacts page correctly. The contact form position is wrong and the navigation does not work for the Contacts page. The only issue is with Firefox which fails to render the Contacts page correctly. Both HTML and CSS validate.
    The website is http://www.pcwebsite.org.uk

    thanks you for the link. I'll try that option next. But clearly since:
    Internet Explorer 9,8, even 7
    Chrome
    Safari
    and Opera
    render the webpage correctly and there is no issue with validation of both HTML and CSS, then surely Firefox is not working to industry standards.
    I can use any browser I care to but I can't control what browser my potential clients use.
    "I'm not sure if this is caused by the floating sidebar content as a style rule of clear:both or clear:left partially fixes this at least horizontally (it is still off to the left)."
    There is nothing wrong with the code is there as it works perfectly with the other browsers listed above? Maybe I should put the whole web page in a table.

  • ShowDocument doesn't refresh displayed PDF file

    Hi All,
    My applet is running in Mozilla 1.7.12 uses showDocument(new URL("/tmp/test.html"), "testFrame"); to display an HTML file.
    When I click on a button it jumps to a referenced paragraph in the HTML file with showDocument(new URL("/tmp/test.html#destination12"), "testFrame"); Both work fine.
    When I do the same with PDF using Adobe Reader 7.0.8 it doesn't jump to the defined destination.
    showDocument(new URL("/tmp/test.pdf"), "testFrame"); still displays the PDF correctly but
    showDocument(new URL("/tmp/test.pdf#nameddest=destination12"), "testFrame"); does nothing from the applet though it works fine if I open /tmp/test.pdf#nameddest=destination12 directly with Mozilla.
    Any idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks,
    Attila

  • Doesn't open adobe pdf files tho latest adobe update is installed

    At the website: http://www.jerrywork.com/ is a "Tutorial" section.
    I cannot open these PDF files.
    I have installed the lates Adobe reader and rebooted
    I can display the files easily with Internet Explorer

    Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it works correctly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

  • Photoshop CS3 quits when opening PDF files

    Does anyone have this problem? Because it happens to me a lot. I'll try to open a PDF with Photoshop, choose my settings, then it rasterizes the PDF and unexpectedly quits.
    Then I'll try changing the color setting from RGB to CMYK and it will work. Or sometimes vice-versa. It is very annoying. I've submitted bug reports to Adobe as well as about 5 crash reports when it happened. It's not on the same file, but many different PDFs.
    I have Mac OS 10.5.x now, but it did the same thing in 10.4.x
    I think it has to do with the RGB vs CMYK color setting because it usually opens when changing it from one setting to the other. But I don't understand WHY that would cause PS to crash.

    just created a new user account.
    same problem. tried opening a cmyk pdf file in rgb mode and photoshop quits. opened in cmyk mode and it opened ok.
    then tried opening a different cmyk pdf in cmyk mode and photoshop quits.
    do you that have responded have intel macs?
    have you tried opening a cmyk pdf in rgb mode?
    just trying to find out what's causing this.

  • IE9 doesn't reflect updated PDF file but instead reflects from cached version

    First, I apologise if this issue might be discussed/resolved somewhere, but if you have any solutions/ideas to what my issue might be, please help to share. And thank you in advance.
    We have been using/filling PDF forms to generate dynamic FDF data. The URL/path to the PDF file is set inside the text/data of the generated FDF. The PDF file with the FDF data are shown to the browser. But with IE9, the browser always reflects cached version of PDF file, and not the updated version.  This is working fine for years in IE6..IE8, the updated PDF file with the dynamic FDF data are shown correctly. But in IE9, the FDF data is dynamically updated but the PDF file still shows the old version, which I think is from the cache.
    In my testing, either I emptied the IE’s cache or set the Internet Option to check for newer versions of the page then it will reflects the updated PDF File. I tried Ctrl-F5 (to force refresh) too but no avail. I used Acrobat Reader 9 & 11, both having same problem, running on Windows 7.

    Hi Pat. Thanks for your reply.
    Actually, I already been checking any IE9 options that might be different from IE8, and tried to change "Security" settings also but still can't get the updated PDF file. Maybe you have in mind where I can specifically check and try out?
    I have tried IE10, but also encounter the same problem. sigghhhh
    I have been using this for years but no problem, this PDF/FDF document application is developed/created using Acrobat Professional ver6 and FDFtoolkit.

  • Index doesn't work if PDF file resides in RoboHelp Project

    If I create a RH8 project and publish, the index works as it should.  Each keystroke will change where you are in the Index. If I put a .PDF file in the project, the Index doesn't work -- it no longer recognizes keystrokes and you can only scroll through it.
    Does RoboHelp not support PDF files within the project?

    Ummm, did I hear you say "Usage Reports"?
    That sems to indicate that you are publishing to RoboHelp Server, no? And that piece of information would have been nice to know up front. Please click here for more on why.
    If you are indeed using the RoboHelp Server, I'm going to move this thread over into that forum category. But I'll wait to hear back with a confirmation from you before I do.
    Cheers... Rick

  • My iPad2 does not display greens in pdf files correctly.

    The green areas of photos in some pdf files are displayed as magenta.  Some other areas in the same photos are also displayed incorrectly; light greys are almost black. Exactly the same thing happens when the same files are displayed on my iPhone4.  But, the same files display correctly on my iMac.
    There is also a strong magenta cast in the green areas in jpg files displayed on the iPad2 (same on iPhone4) but, when the same files are displayed on my iMac, the colours are correct.
    Looks very like a bug in iOS.
    Any ideas?

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Security

  • Firefox 33 doesn't display a pdf file when using the response object

    Firefox 33.0.2 does not display pdf files when using the code below from an asp.net program, which works for previous versions of Firefox, and also works with IE. I'm using the built-in pdf viewer. All of my plugins are disabled.

    Session("filname") = ""

    Thanks cor-el. You pointed me in the right direction. It appears to me that a reported Firefox 33 bug with the handling of compression (Transfer-Encoding: chunked) is the culprit (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1026743). I was able to find a work-around by specifying the file size and buffering. Below is my code, with some code from http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/440054/How-to-Open-any-file-in-new-browser-tab-using-ASP.
    Dim strPDF As String
    strPDF = Session("filname") 'pdf filename
    Dim User As New WebClient()
    Dim FileBuffer As [Byte]() = User.DownloadData(strPDF)
    If Not (FileBuffer Is Nothing) Then
    Response.Clear()
    Response.ClearHeaders()
    Response.CacheControl = "Private"
    Response.AddHeader("Pragma", "no-cache")
    Response.AddHeader("Expires", "0")
    Response.AddHeader("Cache-Control", "no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate")
    Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"
    Response.AddHeader("content-length", FileBuffer.Length.ToString())
    Response.BinaryWrite(FileBuffer)
    Response.Flush()

    Response.Clear()
    Response.End()

  • SaveAs() method doesn't work for PDF file

    I used the script below to generate a PDF file. When I ran it, no error occurred but no PDF was generated either
    var pdf = new File("E:\\STWWEB1\\CDLG_ILL\\temp\\jpeg\\640\\1.pdf");
    docRef.saveAs(pdf);
    Does anybody know what's wrong?

    PDF needs to have a new instance of the PDFSaveOptions created. Look at the JS Reference
    PDFSaveOptions
    Options for saving a document as an Adobe PDF file, used with the saveAs method. All properties are optional.
    Saving to PDF format
    // Saves the current document as PDF to dest with specified options
    // dest contains the full path and file name to save to
    function saveFileToPDF (dest) {
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) {
    var saveName = new File ( dest );
    saveOpts = new PDFSaveOptions();
    saveOpts.compatibility = PDFCompatibility.ACROBAT5;
    saveOpts.generateThumbnails = true;
    saveOpts.preserveEditability = true;
    doc.saveAs( saveName, saveOpts );

  • How do I get firefox to write out homepages to pdf-files correctly

    2011-08-22
    I have been using Firefox for many years now. I like this browser better than Safari. However. I have a problem when I have connected to a homepage over the web and want to write the content out to a pfd-file. The pdf-file does sometimes contain only one page. The material is good enough for two or more pages of output. I have checked that using Safari browser. I´d like to continue using Firefox so please tell med what to do!

    "Google" is a search engine (website) and NOT (repeat: NOT) a PDF viewer. It can't and won't open PDFs in any real or imaginable way.
    Firefox added their own proprietary PDF viewer with version 20 - they're on 21 now. I'll be the first to admit "it sucks". You CAN'T fill in PDF forms with it, and you can't email them from the page like with Opera, Safari or Chrome (which use the reader plug-in still).
    Unfortunately, the ONLY option you have now that they've added it and killed the ability for the Reader plug-in to work with Firefox, is Tools>Options>Applications - select Portable Document Format(PDF) and choose "Use Adobe Reader (Default)". What that will do is FORCE Firefox to download the PDF instead of opening it in their terrible PDF viewer in the browser window.
    Or... use one of the other browsers I mentioned. They're all free.

    PS doesn't deal with compressed files that well. Try to convert it in an external tool like Quicktime Pro or one of the gigazillion free video converters based on ffmpeg....

  • How to render a pdf file within flex

    Hi,
    could any one suggest, how to open a pdf file within flex.
    we have an application built on flex3.
    please suggest.
    regards,

    Hi,
    Is it a Flash or AIR app?
    If it's an AIR app, then use the HTML/web, where you then can navigate to the URL of your PDF.
    If it's an Flash app, then set the wmode to transparent: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/127/tn_12701.html#main_Using_Window_Mode__wmode__values_
    And then create an iframe in your HTML page, where you load you PDF, set the iframe z-index, so it gets shown on top of the Flash object. Then you kan use the javascript bridge to interact with the iframe.
    Best regards
    Martin
