Photoshop effects

Hey everyone, i decided to post a photoshop topic here altough it may not be the right forum, so i apologize. anyway, i made a movie with a couple of friends and want to add a photoshop effect so i saved it all as an image sequence, obviously its alot to click on ever one and apply effect then save the close widnow for a couple million frames, anyway, i was wondering if there was some sort of automator that will make it apply to all the photos, or just in photoshop to apply the effect to all open windows, any help is appreciated thanks alot!

thanks for all that guys, but yet again i seemed to answer my own question... i would have added plug-ins and such however, the hole thing is to do a movie for a school project and be as creative as possible without spending money and using the resources available to us. i appreciate all of that... turns out that if u use the actions panel on the side, that you can record actions for photoshop to perform and you can continuosly loop it, for example i recorded my poster edge effect the save commmand, then close window, and it keeps doing that all i need to do is tape down enter for when it asks to replace the file, real easy, i finished about 400 frames by just leaving the computer with the enter button taped, best thing was that it stops once it runs out of files.f..
again thanks for the help...

  • I applied a Photoshop effect to some outlined text - but the outlines still look the same?

    1. I typed out the word
    2. I created an outline of the word
    3. I went to Effect>Photoshop Effects>Texture>Stained Glass and applied
However, if you look closely, the blue outlines ignore the  the divots and holes created from the effet.
Is this effect just an overlay? I ask this because this design is for a t-shirt and I want it to look the same as it appears on my screen.
This may sound like a weird question but I'm just getting into Illustrator.
    Thanks

Photoshop Effects produce raster images. You will have to use someting like a Grunge effect using actual vector objects for it to be useful for screening onto a tee-shirt.

  • Photo/Photoshop Effect Ideas

I'm doing a project for a photo for a photo class I am, but this time my teacher has said that we can do whatever we want. I want t do something creative. I am limited when it comes to taking pictures. I live in a place where there are basically a few malls and stores. No good landscapes nearby. There is, however a creak behind my house, but it's definitely not one worth taking a photo of. Anyways, back to what I was saying, I'm looking for a nice photoshop effect or something that I can do to a picture that's not just retouching (for instance, one of my friends has turned one of the portraits she's taken into picture that looks like it was painted over in watercolor). Any ideas would be helpful! I can provide more information if needed!
P.S. I'm sincerly sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, I've only been on here a few times, but you all seem to have such great ideas for people.

So? Take a picture of a cityscape, and give it a 'Techno' feel. Maybe make it an ad poster for an imaginary band/concert. Google 'PhotoShop tutorials' for sites with a whole host of methods and ideas.
    Good luck.

  • Photoshop effects vs. FW's own dropdown shadow, etc.

I was wondering what the difference is between Fw's drop down shadow and the Photoshop effects that come with cs3.
I realize this is rather a lame question, but that's how things have been as of late...

    Hi Paevo
The photoshop effect has got the spread option which makes the shadow wider with less blur and the size option and also gives you the ability to add noise to the shadow.
They both have some common characteristics but this seems to have been an easy way to add some more filters in FWs.

  • Will the Intel Iris Pro Graphics 5200 run all Photoshop effects?

I am lost and cant find a final answer to the following.
I am about to buy a MacBook Pro and cant decide between the one with dedicated GPU and the one without. I want to go for the one without - the increased battery performance and lack of overheating are favourable.
BUT... I cant get a deffinate answer to whether the Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 5200 on the 4th gen i7 processors (ie the one without the dedicated GPU) will run all these Photoshop effects:
Adaptive Wide Angle Filter (compatible video card required)
Liquify (accelerated with compatible video card with 512 MB of VRAM)
Oil Paint (compatible video card required)
Warp and Puppet Warp (accelerated with compatible video card)
Field Blur, Iris Blur, and Tilt/Shift (accelerated with compatible video card supporting OpenCL)
Lighting Effects Gallery (compatible video card required with 512 MB of VRAM)
New 3D enhancements (3D features in Photoshop require a compatible video card with 512 MB of VRAM):
    Draggable Shadows
    Ground plane reflections
    Roughness
    On-canvas user interface controls
    Ground plane
Light widgets on edge of canvas
    IBL (image-based light) controller
I don't need them to run massively fast, I just need to know if they will work without a dedicated GPU. I appreciate the Intel® Iris™ Pro Graphics 5200 supports open gl/cl but I cant find an idiots proof answer if that means all these features will work.
    HELP!
    Cheers

We’re not aware of any issues using that specific card with Photoshop and all features should be supported.

Since Adobe and AMD have a relationship, you can expect the higher end Adobe effects to support discrete Nvidia cards, and probably not put much energy into GPU support for Intel HD 5000 graphics. Yes, PS will run on HD 5000 chips, but you may find that some higher demand features get automatically disabled by the Photoshop GPU "sniffer", and others that do work, may suffer poorer performance, or full feature support.
Suggest you post your question in the Adobe Photoshop community too.

  • Need Help Scaling Photoshop Effect to Higher Resolution

    Hi Friends,
Working on a cool PS web tutorial and it worked as promised. Here is the site link: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photoshop-text/text-effects/light-burst/
This tutorial is done at 640x480, 72 dpi.
I want to make a larger, higher-rez version for print (t-shirt, mug, hats, on cafepress). When I tried the tutorial with PS set at 300 dpi and 15" page size, the effect did not work as shown. In particular, I had trouble with the "wind" application in steps 14-16: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photoshop-text/text-effects/light-burst/page-5.php
Perhaps, due to the higher rez, the wind filter did not distort the text as shown in the tutorial. It was much less pronounced. Repeated applications of "wind" did not salvage the effect.
Can anyone help me attain this tutorial effect at higher resolution?
Hope I've been clear enough here. Don't hesitate to ask for clarification.
    Thank you.

  • Photoshop Effects History (like AFter Effects)?

    Hello everyone,
I've been using photoshop for a couple years now, but have just started using after effects and love the Effects Controls Tab where you can see all the effects applied to each layer.  Is there anything like this possible in Photoshop?  I know there is a history, but it's the whole document history.  There isn't a history for each layer is there?  If no to all of the above, will Photoshop down the road ever consider this?  I think it would be extremely helpful to see the effects applied to each layer and then be able to access them again.  Sorry if there is this function and I just don't know about it yet.
    Thanks everyone

No there isnt a history for each layer.
When you say "effects" do you mean layer styles?
[For example: You create a layer and add an outer glow and a gradient overlay. Ten steps down the road you tweak the gradient overlay. 20 more steps and you want to revert back to the original gradient overlay.]
If this is correct, im not sure how beneficial it would be or how many users would need such a function. You can save your layer styles and re-apply them to any object you want 10 days from now. (click "new style" in the layer style dialog box).

  • Photoshop effects missing?

in the process of installing an photoshop action all the effects have disappeared...how do I reinstall the effects

Did you delete the ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 and then restart pse 10 and let the effects database rebuild itself, which can take 5 to 10 minutes sometimes?
    The MediaDatabase.db3 is in  C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
    The ThumbDatabase.db3 is in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0

  • Gaussian Blur photoshop effect parameters

    Hello,
Im working on svg format exporter, and what I need to do is to export some of AI effects as SVG filters.
I encountered a problem with Effect -> (PhotoshopEffects) Blur -> Gaussian Blur effect.
When getting the effect parameters there is some binary entry in the dictionary and it is not documented naywhere in the docs what type of data it that.
When serializing a document with GaussianBlur effect info fxg foramt, here is what you can find in the xml :
    <ai:LiveEffect index="0" major="1" minor="0" name="PSAdapter_plugin_GblR">
        <ai:Dict data="B go 1 I PrevDres 300 I dataSize 24 ">
            <ai:Entry name="data" value="AAAAAVJkcyAAAAAAZG91Yj/xmZmgAAAA" valueType="N"/>
        </ai:Dict>
    </ai:LiveEffect>
Attribute value holds the binary data describing the GaussianBlur effect with radius set to 1,1 value.
Can anybody tell how to decode the binary data so that I could dig out the radius value from it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rafał

Ok, I found the problem so will leave the solution, maybe somebody will also need this.
So the value attribute value="AAAAAVJkcyAAAAAAZG91Yj/xmZmgAAAA" is base64 encoded.
When decoded it presents sth like this, where dots "." are zeros (actually below presented data represents gaussian blur effect data for radius == 2, not 1,1 like in previous post):
    ....Rds ....doub@.......
this is same data in hex
    00 00 00 01 52 64 73 20 00 00 00 00 64 6f 75 62 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
and last 8 bytes represents a double number in big endian:
    @....... == 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Im working on windows, so after switching it to little endian we get
    .......@  or 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40
which is our radius in double format.
To be more precise the initial number in the binary data is typeIEEE64BitFloatingPoint, and can be googled in some Python/Apple's header files, here for instance http://svn.python.org/projects/python/trunk/Lib/plat-mac/Carbon/AppleEvents.py.
    Cheers

  • Making Text Editable in AE loses the effects from Photoshop.

I have to animate text and have finally gotten that process down .. but one
problem left. The original text is made in Photoshop CS3 with shadow,
bevel/emboss effects on it. When I make the text editable in AE so I can
animate it, the Photoshop effects disappear.
Is there any way to retain the drop shadow and bevel/emboss and still make
text editable so it can be animated in AE?
    Thanks!
    Nancy

Thanks, Andrew .. I think I see what you mean and will try that.  If I <br />understand correctly, my importing the PSD as a composition means I only <br />imported the text and not the effects.  I did try importing as footage, but <br />that wasn't editable either.  I will follow your steps and see if I can get <br />this down.<br /><br />Many thanks!<br />Nancy<br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]...<br />> Hi Nancy,<br />><br />> While it sounds like you've achieved your objective - good news!- I'll <br />> point out a few things for future projects.<br />><br />> Your final solution means that you've dragged a Nested Composition into <br />> your main composition (meaning one composition inside another). The <br />> Transform parameters you see attached to that nested comp are NOT Text <br />> Editors, and effect the whole layer universally. That might be fine now, <br />> but it means you won't be able to change or edit individual text <br />> characters or lines. You also won't be able to edit your Photoshop Layer <br />> Styles (Drop Shadow, in your case).<br />><br />> When you import the PS document as a composition, AE creates a new <br />> composition with all the PS layers intact, positioned correctly and with <br />> Layer Styles applied. But they only exist INSIDE THE COMPOSITION - they're <br />> not attached to the layers that you can access in the Project window.<br />><br />> Try this to explain what I mean:<br />><br />> Open your project and import your PSD as a Composition.<br />><br />> Double-click on the new PSD composition in the footage window to open it. <br />> You should see your text layer with drop shadow applied. Select the layer <br />> and Copy.<br />><br />> Now go back to your main composition and choose Paste. The text layer <br />> should appear within your main comp, but still with layer styles etc. You <br />> can also choose "Convert To Editable Text" now, without affecting the Drop <br />> Shadow. Once the layer is a Text Layer you have much more control over it <br />> than just the standard Layer Transform settings.<br />><br />> The trick is to COPY the whole layer from the PSD comp, rather than drag <br />> the text layer from the footage window.

  • Photoshop Photo Effects

    Hello,
I design and sell digital products such as wedding invitations and business cards. I have been trying for weeks to photograph clear, beautiful product photos but despite my online research on how to achieve this (the DIY route because I don't have the money to spend on top-notch photography equipment) I still am not able to achieve the perfect product photo. Is there a photoshop effect, or several effects that I can use to make my product pictures (the final design in .jpg format) look as if they have been photographed when they have not? Or should I be using another Adobe program such as Lightroom?
Any help, suggestions, guidance, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Photoshop does have a new tool for removing camera blur. But that is only when the camera moves not out of focus or subject movement. Since you are taking pictures of products, the camera should be on a tripod anyways, which makes that tool moot.
You can find fairly cheap cameras that have additional controls above and beyond point and shoot. It needs a dial on it that allows you to go from the full automatic mode to the aperture, shutter or manual modes you will be fine. A camera that can use multiple lenses or has a see through viewer (normally called an SLR) is not all that necessary when shooting still objects. Since it can not move, you are free to take as many pictures as necessary until you find the right distance and position for doing more shoots.
What the Aperture and shutter features do is allow you to specify how long the capture should take (shutter priority) and how much light should enter the camera (aperture priority) Manual is a combination of both.
When you can set the aperture to a smaller setting (a higher number) to allow a longer capture time the more objects are in focus. A larger aperture which captures the image at a faster rate puts more of the image out of focus.
Shutter priority on the other hand, tells the camera how long to capture an image. The longer the capture time, the brighter the image (and more of a blur on moving objects), the shorter amount of time gives a darker image (and will capture moving objects making them to appear still).
The aperture and shutter are tied to each other, when one changes, the other must change to have a proper exposure.
Manual lets you set these separate from each other, allowing you to change the exposure.
If the camera is on a tripod, that allows the camera to stay still which in turn allows the camera to have a slower shutter speed which in turn allows the aperture to have a smaller diameter (a higher number). The allows more objects to be in focus and have a proper exposer. If the camera was hand held, it is possible to see a blur and have a dark image. In other words for it to be hand held in low light, the exposure needs to be darker to have less blur. The correct exposure would likely create a highly blurred image.

  • Difference between photoshop and illustrator effects?

Under the effects menu in cs5, what is the difference between photoshop and illustrator effects? when do you use the photoshop ones?
    Thank you.

The Photoshop effects are copies of similar effects from Photoshop. As such, they can only be applied to raster art, such as that edited in Photoshop. When you apply a Photoshop effect the Illustrator art you apply it to is rasterized in the background and the effect is applied to the rasterized version of the art. If you expand the appearance of anything with a Photoshop effect on it it will be rasterized. The other effects retain all or part of the vector art. When you expand the effect or save a PDF at least some of the original vector art will remain as vectors, although some effects (Drop Shadow, Blur, Feather, Inner Glow, etc.) to add rasterized art to the file.
The rasterization is non-damaging, in that the original vector, type, or other objets remain fully editable. If you remove the effect the rasterization goes away. There is no dialogue for rasterization resolution in the effect; you set that in Effect > Document Raster Effect Settings.
