Photoshop Elements 10 downloaded but hanging on 'extracting this may take a while' - what do I do?

Its been like this for ages, and as I'm new to Mac, I'm not sure where to begin looking for the download location.....
Appreciate any help!!
Thanks.

From your description it sounds like you have chosen a location to download, i.e. the Applications folder, which the Adobe Download Assistant does not have permission to download too.  I would recommend canceling the download and trying again.  This time please choose the default location of the User folder to download the install files too.

  • "Extracting this may take a while" for 4 hours

I downloaded the trial and had to download the adobe download assistant and it started downloading my file after it finished.  After it finished downloading it said Extracting... This may take a while.  Its been saying that for 4 hours now and it only took 30min to download.  Is this normal and if not what can i do to fix it?

Check for the Internet connection. If its good, then try the same with a different broswer. Below link would help in this scenario,

  • Extracting-this may take forever.

    "Extracting—this may take a while."
Is it supposed to take all afternoon to extract a trial of Design & Web? What should I do? (Macbook OS 10.6.8)

No, it isn't. Anything longer than half an hour is a busted attempt. Try again picking otehr download and extraction locations.

  • Downloading TRIAL CS6... "Extracting...this may take a while.." Is taking too long.

I've used the Adobe Assistant to download the trial version of CS6, Design and Web Premium on my MAC. It has gotten all the way to the point where it says "Extracting...this may take a while...." But it's been almost 24 hours at this point. What should I do? Do I start over? Or is there something I can do to speed up this process. This is ridiculous at this point. Never had  problem like this before...

Yes, start over. Use anotehr browser to initiate the download or use this method:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Then extract the files manualyl using winZip or similar tools.

  • Premiere Pro trial hangs at "Extracting...this may take a while"

I have tried downloading Premiere Pro several times and each time it downloads and it starts to extract.  It just sits at the "Extracting...this may take a while screen".  I left it up all night and it was still that way the next morning.  I looked in take manager and It does NOT say "not responding"  so I think the download assistant program is OK.  I did go ahead and uninstall it and reinstalled it as well.  I am running Win7 64bit.

This is likely happening due to choosing a location to download the install files to that the Adobe Download Assistant does not have sufficient permissions to write too.  I would recommend completing solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1 to reset the download experience.  When reinitiating the download please choose the default location of your User folder to download the install files too.
Alternately you can follow the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • Stuck in extracting...this may take a while stage for 3 days

My trial download for CS6 production premiuim has been in the extracting...this may take a while stage for 3 days; what do I do?

Cancel it, try again. Use another browser to download, extract the files manually e.g. using WinZip.

  • Rikaichan (add-on) doesn't work at my office. It gives this error "Javascript application: the index for one or more dictionaries needs to be created. This may take a while on slower computers". And then the PC freezes. What should I do?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.17, and have installed Rikaichan 2.02. Once I've installed the Japanese-English dictionary, I then click on Rikaichan to get it started, and it always gives a "Javascript Application" error:
'''"The index for one or more dictionaries needs to be created. This may take a while on slower computers"'''
Rikaichan always works fine on my laptop, but I just can't seem to install it properly at work. Is there some sort of office security screwing it up?

    venicespent,
Boot into your Mavericks Recovery partition by hold down the command and R keys whilst booting. You'll see a screen that looks like this:
Click on the Disk Utility item to open Disk Utility. You should see your boot drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've changed it) in the column on the left of the screen. Select your boot partition and click on the "Verify" button. Let your Mac do it's thing - if you get green text telling you that everything seems to be OK, then your disk should not be damaged. If, however, you get red text telling you that the disk needs to be repaired, click on the "Repair" button. If the disk can be repaired, you should be good to go. If the disk cannot be repaired then the drive is damaged.
But before you do anything, make certain that you have backups!!!

  • "Letterboxing...This may take a while" - 17hrs and COUNTING???!! Advice

I'm doing a football scouting film and I imported footage from a Canon XL1 and a small Sony HandyCam.
There are appx 70+ clips in the project.
When I clicked on the "EDIT" switch to start editing, I got the "LETTERBOXING. PLEASE WAIT...THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE" message...that was 17hrs ago!
My hard drive is almost FULL and I'm guessing thats why its taking so long. I keep deleting things to make room for this to finish.
    1. Why does it even have to letterbox at all?
    2. How can I speed up this process?
    3. Should I FORCE QUIT and try to start over? (I don't wanna do that)
ANY advice would be much appreciated
    thnx

I would suggest force quitting, opening a new file and on the opening window, change the bar at the bottom to say DV widescreen. Thay way it doesn't have to Letterbox

  • I downloaded photoshop Elements 13 but can't find it to access it. What is my issue?

I downloaded Photoshop Elements 13 but can't access it. I'm not sure to access it as it didn't go to my desktop. What am I missing?

I have the same issue. Just rented a movie, and I can't find it anywhere. Where is it stored, and how do I watch it on iTunes 11.0.4 ?
I don't see the 'rented' tab anywhere, and nothing under 'purchased'.

  • Pillarboxing. Please wait. This may take a while.

How long is a while? I imported about a thirty min. 4x3 DV (plan to include other material made in widescreen). I'm not sure because iMovie's help don't work while doing this "pillarboxing" but I imagine it has to do with stretching the 4x3 format video into widescreen (?), however, it's taking forever! Is this normal?
No wait, it appears to be reducing the size of the clips; NOT maintaining how I imported, nor what I selected in setup. What? It looked good in import mode, and now iMovie is making sure it's 4x3 and NOT widescreen?
I don't remember iMovie doing this before.
Time will tell... a lot of time, lots and lots of time will tell.
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Okay. Now that pillarboxing is complete, I guess I'll delete this project and start again, and uncheck "Automatic DV Pillarboxing & Letterboxing" in prefs.
    Bummer.
Also, since I'm here: Why can't iMovie have more than just ONE VIDEO TRACK?? Is it impossible? Cheap PC movie editing programs do. Just wondering with all the improvements and updates and upgrades why one of the most important and desired feature or function is ignored?
It'd be soooo much better and worth it.
Com' on Apple, give us a video editing breakbreak! Not everyone wants to jump into FCE just for another track.... okay? Pretty please.

  • I just downloaded and paid for Premiere elements but now want the combined Premiere and Photoshop elements. How do I do this?

My headline says it all. I would like to turn my Premiere Elements order into the combined Premiere and Photoshop Elements download offer. I have already paid for Premiere Elements but would like to take advantage of the combined offer for only another $40 or so. How do I do this?
I only downloaded and paid for the Premiere Elements package about two days ago.

Did you purchase Premiere Elements 13 from Adobe Direct? If so, are you within 30 days of that purchase? If the answer to both of those questions is Yes and it appears to be, then you should explore
Contact Adobe Chat clicking on the following link
    Contact Customer Care
    Premiere Elements
    Membership, Account, Payment
    Payments, Invoices, Orders
    Chat Panel
If the link does not hold its set, then you will need to navigate to the Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.
Under the conditions mentioned at the beginning of this reply, I am speculating that Adobe should be able to give you your money back for the Premiere Elements 13, allowing you to purchase Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements which are sold together, but are still really standalone products. How Adobe opts to do that is at its discretion.
    Best wishes

  • I'm trying to use the quick selection tool in Photoshop Elements 12 but it keeps getting stuck on minus.  How do I fix this?

I'm trying to use the quick selection tool in Photoshop Elements 12 but it keeps getting stuck on minus.  I've reinstalled twice and it will work for a little while and then get stuck again.  When I select something, I have one shot at it and as soon as I let go of the mouse it switches to minus and I can't add anything else.  How do I fix this?

When a tool misbehaves, go over to the far upper right corner of the tool options area and click the four-lined square. Choose Reset Tool from the popout menu.
