Photoshop Elements 10, says I don't have enough disk space to install when I do

I have tried installing PSE 10 several times and each time it tells me that I don't have enough disk space, but will flash up a drive on the list that does but will not let me select it, HELP ! ! !

Try to make some temporary extra space on C drive, which PSE uses only during the installation process. Once the installation is complete that space should be freed up.

Hello all,
Anyone know why I'm getting an error message saying I don't have enough disk space on an external drive when there is over 400 gigs of space available?
I am copying video files over to the drive from another external drive and the files total about 30 gigs...
I've seen other people have this prob but can't remember the fix.
I have only 70 gigs available on my computer HD but don't see how that is a factor.

alright just the facts.
I am running a bottom of the line 11' Air from 2010
I have 16gb free
I am trying to purchase batman arkham asylum
the app store won't let me because it states i do not have enough disk space
The game is 9 gb and information states it requires a total of 10gb free
what gives?

The installler's telling you that for a reason.
16GB of free disk space is cutting it way too close considering the game requires 9GB.
Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space. Any less and your Mac will get to the point where it won't boot.
You really need to free up disk space ASAP.

The app you are trying to download my be a zipped file and more space than 1.3GB. go to settings/general/usage and delete what you no longer want to make more space

Restart your phone, and if you can connect it to a computer and update it from iTunes instead of through wifi.

When I try to open a word document it says I do not have enough disk space. I have Word 2004 and the document has a doc.x on it.

Mac users using Word 2004 who receive a Word 2008 for Mac, (or Word 2007 for Windows) document, will not be able to read this without having the Open XML Converter installed, which can be downloaded from Microsoft.
Go to this page:

and click on the right under Most Popular, 'Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0.2'
This opens a window at the bottom of the page. Scroll that to the bottom and click on English.dmg, and it will download for you as a disk image, which can be installed in the usual way.
After installation you can open and read .xml formatted Word 2008 documents in Word 2004.
Update: This link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976831 takes you to a newer version 1.1.3 (released Nov 10, 2009).

I can't download things off my iPad because it says I don't have enough "free space" on my mac

Hey guys, I'm not sure what's going on with my Mac Air but I can't download things to it anymore (like pics or audio files from my phone and Ipad). When I try it says that I don't have enough "free space." What's the solution? I really don't have alot saved on this computer so it's kinda weirding me out that it's already full.

Click on your system disk in the upper right hand corner, usuallly called "Macintosh HD”.
Type Command-I.
How much space is available?
If it is small (under 20 GB) you should try removing files you do not need.

Firefox thinks I don't have enough disk space, and cancels the download when it's almost finished.

So recently, I was downloading a pretty huge file for a game (4.5 gigabytes), and it was nearly finished, when an error popped up, saying that there wasn't enough disk space for Firefox to download the file. At the time, I had just enough disk space to download the file (yes, I checked and made sure). The download became unresumable, and I was incredibly irked to find I had to download again, as my download speed is not very good at all. I put it in overnight and made a note of where it stopped, and in the morning, when I checked it, it stopped in the EXACT SAME place, which is at about 4.1/4.5 GBs. I've made a lot more room since then, and I'm downloading it for the third time now. If this happens again, how can I solve this? Thanks.
Also, it's a .dat file. I have no idea if that has any bearing on what may cause this, but if anyone knows anything, please let me know.

The file system is a FAT32 Bootcamp Partition, and what baffles me is that I've been able to download and store files that are over 4 GBs before. And while I'm at it, why is it that you say FAT32 file-systems can't store files over 4 GBs? I've never heard of that happening before.

IMovie says I do not have enough disk space or permission

I continue to periodically get an error that says "Cannot create project. Please check the disk to ensure that there is enough free space and you have permission to write projects."
I have almost 250 GB of free space and I have full admin on my Mac Book Pro. iMovie and my OS are all up to date on updates. I have repaired permissions (more than once) and I have restarted iMovie. Not sure what's going on.
I'm trying to think of what I have not tried....
Is there a way for me to see where I am creating my project? My concern is that it might be looking for a currently disconnected external drive, except that I have had this same error when that drive is connected (and I am pretty sure I never pointed anything to that drive anyway).
Any help here is appreciated.

it's not solved at all!
My assumption is just:
iMovie permanently read/writes data; not only when you import from cam or you quit iMovie. There are lots of background tasks happening, … that's why BY CONCEPT, all media should be on your internal drive! This guarantees a 100% accessability.
Another example: iM, by concept, can handle only hfs/'Mac' formatted drives; very few network drives are formatted that way… (more fat/Windows, or NTFS, which Mac reads, but can not write!)
So, in a 'networked' surrounding, it could happen, you access some music, or a photo or a video from 'some' drive, iM tries to update some meta-data - and fails.
I have imported movies into events from the network,…
I dare to say, this is the culprit. …
In case, all your media is now local, you could try the 'trash prefs'-routine, in hope, iMovie 'forgets' any external connections:

Okay, so all I did was add a digital copy of a video to my iTunes library. It now won't sync my iPad even though it synced my iPhone, which has the exact same items on it (except my iPhone has WAY more pictures); and according to the usuage meter on the bottom my capacity is 13.83 GB and I have 5.6GB available. How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.

With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. With iOS 5, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

First, the App Store will not allow a download that, when expanded, would leave less than the minimum amount of available space on the startup volume that Apple considers necessary, which is about 9 GB. The download is a compressed archive that will usually expand to about twice its size. Both the archive and the expanded files will be present at the same time, so the actual amount of space needed is about three times the size of the archive.
If you're trying to add a large amount of data all at once, and you get an alert of insufficient space, then from the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Time Machine
If the padlock icon is closed, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then back ON and close the preference pane. Restart the computer. Test.
