Photoshop elements 10 'the application has requested the runtime to terminate it in unusual way.
Every time I try to open photoshop elements 10 a message appear: 'The application has requested the runtime to terminate it unusual way'.
Then the photoshop closes down so I can't use it .
You haven't said what your Operating system is but the best way to resolve such problems is to reinstall the Application so that it repairs itself automatically. I am, of course, assuming that it was running normally before this started to happen.

Hello, I am having a slight issue. When I opened my adobe photoshop elements 9, I received a message saying "This Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way." It then tells me to contact support, and I'm wondering what I should do. Thanks!
Hi ,
Do you remember if you have installed some software prior to this issue?
Delete programs you never use.
If the issue reoccurs in Clean Boot, but works fine in Safe Mode, the cause may be the disabled hardware drivers. You may narrow down the
causes in Device Clean Boot.
Device Clean Boot
=================
1. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers".
3. Right click on your sound card and then click "Properties.
4. In the dropdown menu of Device Usage, please choose "Do not use this device (disable)" and click OK.
5. Please use the same method to disable other dubious hardware such as: internal modem, network card and CD-R drive. Please note some devices
such as video adapter are not available to be disabled.

Any ideas?computer: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3500+

After installing the program and running it, installing photos in over 18 collections and transfering photos to PSA from camera chips and third party software programs flawlessly for several months, I now get the above stated error messages (when trying to add photos to a new or exsisting collection from a chip or transferring from another Jpeg file/folder in another program on my computer):

Hi,
Are you running your computer as an administrator? Try changing a couple of settings:
Go to C:/Program Files/Adobe/Elements Organizer [ look in program files(x86) if running a 64-bit o/s].
Here, right click PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe and click Compatibility.
Now, ensure that the option "Run this application as an administrator" is checked.
Click Apply/OK and launch PSE to see how that works. -
Why do I get this error message: Application has requested the runtime to terminate?
I get this error message: Application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. The application won't open at all even after several tries and a reboot.
Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
C: >> Program Files >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 9
Within the Photoshop elements 9 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (with the blue icon)
Select that file and click Next.
Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen. -

I didn't find any relevant clues for this in NI forums. A search at Google brought me to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884538/en-us, offering a HotFix to solve the problem. Unfortunately, the installation of this HotFix does not solve the problem.
Do you know this behavior and do you have any ideas how the problem can be solved?
Thanks in advance.

log in as administrator and kill all processes not needed and try again. I've seen cases where one of these free download tweak applications (like "Memory Defragmentation" and stuff like that) caused that error.

Hi,
I build an appliction using LabView 8.2 with Report Generation Toolkit for MS Office V1.1.1 on a WinXP SP3 system without any errors. When I try to build a coresponding Installer, I got the following error message:
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Can anyone help me????
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi Gunnar,
Good Morning and I hope your well today. Thanks for your post onto the NI Discussion Forums.
There are several considerations and potential causes of the error. I will try my best to cover some of the potential causes.
Firstly, you've suggested that the Report Generation Toolkit is being used:
When building applications with Report Generation Toolkit VIs, you must complete the following additional steps:
1. From the Source Files tab of the Build Application or Shared Library (DLL) dialog box, click the Add Dynamic VI button to add the following two VIs to the application:
– _Excel Dynamic VIs.vi in vi.lib\addons\_office\_exclsub.llb
– _Word Dynamic VIs.vi in vi.lib\addons\
_office\_wordsub.llb
2. If the application you are building contains the MS Office Report Express VI, you must add any Word or Excel templates that you use to the built application. From the Source Files tab, click the Add Support File button to add the template files to the application. By default, the custom destination for the templates is the same as the path that appears in the Destination directory field on the Target tab with a data subdirectory appended. Do not change the custom destination for the files you add.
For example, if you are using the basic Excel template with the MS Office Report Express VI, add MSOffice_RGT_Template.xlt to the application. The basic template files are located in the templates\Report directory.
Have you done this?
Could you please send an image of your project and your installer options?
The problem was that I use Office toolkit and it was not compiled with LabVIEW 8.2:
I found a forum where the toolkit wasn't complied for LabVIEW 8.2. Could this be an issue I wonder?
I mass compiled the complete directory c:\program files\National
Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2 (it took quite a long time) and afterwards the
directory lvjpeg disapeared.
Have you tried this?
Runtime to Terminate Error:
1. Have you been having any trouble with LabVIEW - crashes or bug installation?
I would suggest repairing your installation of LabVIEW and the toolkit(s) using the Add/Remove Programs.
2. Also would it be possible to try building an installer on another machine?
3. I have seen that not enough Hard-disk space can cause this error - what is the status of yours?
4. Are you using any other drivers such as DAQmx or VISA?
I hope this information starts to help us locate the root cause of the trouble your having, and if you could answer the questions above and try my suggestions that would be great! if you could also gather the extra information about your installer options that would also really help supporting the issue further.
*edit:
5. Also the runtime error would suggest you've selected to include a runtime in your installer options - have you tried de-selecting this and see if it installer builds correctly? If it does, then we could then work on how to add the additional installer to your build.

I randomly get this error message "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support."
Here's a picture of it. http://i48.tinypic.com/35hradh.jpg
It doesn't tell me what application or process is responsible. :/
It pops up randomly when I wait long enough. It will pop up even if I don't have anything open and I just leave my computer to idle. When I close it or click okay, windows explorer gui will crash and restart. I can still use the computer after this without
restarting but again if I wait long enough it will occur again. I've look around and tried many solutions but nothing has worked.
I've tried a full virus scan, and malware scan with no luck. Tried the registry cleaner from CCleaner and doesn't fix it. I've ran it in safe mode and the error didn't seem to occur or maybe I didn't wait long enough (30-40 minutes). I've tried a SFC
scan and nothing comes up as wrong. I've done a cleanboot several times with no help. I can't do a system restore since the latest restore point is on the same day that I got the error unfortunately.
When the error occurs the pop up window is from Microsoft Visual C++. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ for my 2010 versions but with no luck. I've uninstalled the recent programs that I installed and no help either.
In the event viewer, it shows that there is an error and the source is an application error. The details are...

CRX XI R2 runtimes causing "Runtime to Terminate in an unusual way" error
HI,
I am using RDC in Visual Strudio 2008, and am deploying using Sp5 msm's to a vista machine.
The following call, which works fine on the dev machine,
variantt vtEmpty;
vtEmpty.vt = VT_EMPTY;
CX::IReportPtr spReport;
spReport = m_spApplication->OpenReport(strFileOrPath, vtEmpty);
casues the error
"Runtime error
Program ......Tbsales..exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusal way."
Declaration of m_spApplication in header file:-
CX::IApplicationPtr m_spApplication;
I am at my wits end to try and resolve this. If have checked the obvious things like making sure the file is there - actually it doesn't matter whether teh file is there or not.
Any assistace is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Mike
Edited by: Mike Stoodley on Aug 7, 2009 5:17 AMHi Mike,
3 things not going for you, RDC, .NET 2008 and Vista.... RDC was built for Visual Studio 6 and is not officailly supported in any flavour of MS's .NET Studios. Even though it's C++ which should not matter, the Studio still uses the updated C++ runtime. I've seen issues where the debug version of MS's runtime work just fine but then compiling to Release mode all sorts of issues pop up... something different betweeen Microsofts builds or the way code is handled when compiled. Debug tends to be more generous in handling errors within the IDE than it does when run in Release mode.
The other issue is the latest releases have been built using .NET 2005 compiler to make CR DEP aware and the result is MS's Framework is now causing problems for our runtime. But should not be an issue with an RDC app but the RDC is build using the same code stream so it may have unusual side effects.
So it's not neccessarily a CR bug, could be a MS issue or could be just the way you are handling the various methods in .NET...
In either case if it is a bug we can get it escalated to be fixed and you will get a credit for the case. If it is a coding issue then you won't but should have a fix.
Thanks again
Don
