Photoshop Elements 10 won't load

Hi
I've installed Photoshop Elements 10.  When I try to load the program it seems to load, but as soon as it opens it shuts down again.  After this has happened once, it won't load at all unless I restart my computer.  I've re-installed the program multiple times, but it hasn't made any difference.
Can you help?

I'm running Windows 7 Professional on an Alienware 14X.  Its got an i7 processor and 16GB RAM.  It works if I load from the editor, but not if I try and load any other way.

  • Photoshop Elements won't open. I have tried re-installing. I have windows pro 7

Photoshop Elements won't open. I have tried re-installing. I have windows pro 7

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New à Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    C: à Program Files à Adobe à Photoshop Elements 9
Within the Photoshop elements 9 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (with the blue icon)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen.

  • Photoshop Elements won't access my HP printer

When I click on Print, my HP Fax software is opened even though the printer is selected.  I reinstalled my printer software and still no luck.   The printer software is the default.   I see that others have had this problem but I haven't seen any suggested solutions for this.

    Thanks, that did the trick.

This solution has been mentioned several times: The names of the printer and fax are too long.  In Windows, open the properties of each device and rename them to something like "HP Printer" and "HP Fax". Ken

  • Photoshop CS5 won't load since I installed Yosemite!

Since loading Yosemite, Photoshop CS5 won't load and I get this window!
    I'm on an iMac 21.5 mid 2011.

It seems a lot of people are running it without a problem, just seems to be me that has this issue at the moment, I have just got CS5, but I need it and can't afford the stupid leasing system they now have. I just want the product I paid for to work, or I will have to find a similar system that I can simply buy and use, not pay out for every year!
I had this when Mavericks came out and it was sorted, something to do with Java, but can't remember what...

  • Photoshop elements no longer loads and closes after

I recently upgraded my Lightroom to 5.4 and now my Photoshop elements no longer loads properly.  Once I start the program is gets to the Organize and Edit screen and if I choose Organize the program immediately closes.  Any ideas since I seem to no longer be able to just call Adobe and talk to a real person and get an immediate answer.

Try trashing any preference files Elements creates: user/Library/Preferences. Other than that try re-installing the software. You could also ask on the Adobe forum area at their web site.

  • Could not open photoshop elements 10 after loading

Could not open photoshop elements 10 after loading from disk.

Which component of the program are you trying to open? It's better to bypass the useless welcome screen and launch organizer or editor directly from applications, then make dock icons for them if you want them always accessible. Organizer is self-evident, but this is the editor:

  • Photoshop elements 9 will load on my mac but won't open the Edit portion

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9
    Mac os 10.6.8
E9 loaded on my mac fine the first time (about 1 year ago) but recently it refused to open the edit feature. I was advised that file were missing from the application. I did an uninstall and reloaded the mac disc.  It appears to load fine, but will only open the organizer and not the edit feature.  I have done 3 uninstalls and installs but I get the same message each time I try to open the edit feature.

The cursor on my tools is a blurr of severl + signs and other nondiscript items
The update won't change that. See:

  • Photoshop elements won't switch to the editor workspace from the organizer.

I can't edit more than one photograph per session when using Photoshop Elements 10.
When I first open up the organizer, I can select a photograph for editing and send it to the editing workspace.
However, when I try to edit a second photograph in the session, the editing workspace won't load.  Even if I try closing Photoshop Elements altogether and reopening it, the editing workspace still won't load.
The only way to get the editing workspace to load again is to shut down my computer completely.
This has only started recently, and I am unaware of doing anything to cause this problem.
Has anybody come across this problem and how did they solve it?

Try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and Editor. You can then launch the programs directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen. This is generally better as the welcome screen leaves background processes running.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
To launch, try right-clicking on the new desktop icons and choose “Run As Administrator” which often improves stability.
Then make a direct shortcut for the Editor in a similar manner.
On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Then click the browse button and navigate to:
    "C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Then click Next; then click Finish
N.B. navigate to Program Files on 32 bit systems.

  • Photoshop Elements won't open

I've been using this computer in my workshop for simple things, mostly email, fb, etc. It has had Photoshop CS (very old, not sure what version) and Photoshop Elements 2.0 on it and both have been working fine. Just brought it into the house to use in the office after my slightly newer, but still old, iMac G5 died. I'm hoping to use it for a short time while figuring out what to do next regarding a newer computer. I've gotten it connected to printer and scanner with a bit of trouble due to trying to find old drivers again. That's really all I'm aware of having changed. Now suddenly PE and P CS won't open. I reinstalled PE (which is what I use most); no change. It starts to open, then just quits. I've clicked on "report" and see the following:
    Date/Time:      2012-04-11 00:02:41.529 -0400
    OS Version:     10.4.11 (Build 8S165)
    Report Version: 4
    Command: Photoshop Elements 2.0
    Path:    /Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 2/Photoshop Elements 2.0/Contents/MacOS/Photoshop Elements 2.0
    Parent:  WindowServer [66]
    Version: 2.0 (2.0)
    PID:    246
    Thread: 0
    Exception:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes:      KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x6f726b2e
Of course there's lots more but that's the part with the bad words like "bad access" and "invalid address" and such. I'm hoping someone can tell me what is going on; perhaps you know what the above means? Or maybe there is some other clue here? I'd be grateful. Thanks for reading.

PS Just to be clear, no major changes in software; I have been running both Photoshop programs on this computer, with OS 10.4.11, since getting the computer as a hand-me-down a couple of months ago. I did update OS, Safari, and a few other things at that time, as well as maxing the memory, deleting many programs and files I'll never use, etc. Installed PE 2.0 at that time. CS was already on it. Both have worked just fine. When I reinstalled PE the installer said it had installed properly.

Well, just in case someone else checks in here with the same problem. Got both programs working just fine again. I hunted up other threads on the same topic; several had posts suggesting trashing certain plug-ins and/or prefs. I'd tell you exactly what but I did a bunch and not sure which solved it. With Photoshop CS 8.0, I deleted plist in user library; no change; then deleted twain plug-in, now it opens just fine. I don't exactly comprehend why, but so far so good. If I have any other useful observations I will post them.

PS I ordered a PRAM battery and will replace that anyway, just because I'm certain it is quite old; perhaps this will prevent other problems popping up. I need to get a bit more use out of this nice old machine!

  • Photoshop Elements won't install on Windows 8

First & foremost, I'm incredibly irritated that my Photoshop Elements 6 won't install on my new Windows 8 laptop. (I did the right thing: uninstalled from the old laptop before wiping the drive to get it ready for resale.)  And now, instead of getting true & real support from Adobe, I'm directed to a user Forum.  BS!  Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE consumer support!!!!  I will NEVER AGAIN purchase an Adobe product.  Of course, this is no slam against other Adobe users on the Forum - it's just that Adobe needs to take a stronger ownership  of its problems - they should NOT let all of us swirl around and find answers to their problems.

Photoshop Elements 6 is ancient software. It may or may not run under Windows 8. I am sure you could have paid for customer technical support for your issue, but it might be that you still would have been told that it was not compatible or that it was a untested combination. Adobe stops giving installation support on older versions after the new version comes out. If you post in the Photoshop Elements forum you may find other users that have or have not been able to install Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows 8. You were actually given great support to visit the forums, since our collection of users have much more experience than many people that work in Adobe Technical Support.

  • Please help - Photoshop Elements won't open

    Hi,
I just bought photoshop elements, installed it and everything was fine.  Like a dope, I downloaded a graphic from a website, and tons of adware/malware was also loaded on my computer.  I couldn't stand all the popups and junk, so i used the Dell Restore to restore the computer to the point right before I loaded photoshop.  After that was done, I reloaded photoshop, and now I can't get in to the program.  (The popups went away.) The opening screen comes up, I choose "photo editor" instead of "organize"...the moving ribbon comes up as if it was thinking, and then it goes away and the opening screen stays there.  No error messages.  If I choose Organize, I can get in to the photo organizing section with no problem.
I'm running Windows 7.  I tried uninstalling photoshop, reinstalling it, uninstalling it, ran the cc cleaner, reinstalled it, uninstalled it and removed the preferences, rebooted a million times, uninstalled and reinstalled again....I still can't get in.  If I click on a .psd file the opening screen comes up and it sill just sits there.  I went into Organize and loaded an update, that went fine, but still can't get in to photoshop.  I can't do the restore to an earlier date, since I installed and uninstalled the program so many times, I lost that ability.
I see a lot of people asking the same question in these forums, but I don't see any answers.  Can anyone help?  I appreciate any assistance you can give me!  I was so excited to use the program, and now it seems like I'll be shut out until I get a new computer, which is not going to happen soon!
    Thank you,
    Holly

Quit the editor, then restart it while holding down Ctrl+alt+shift. Keep those keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

  • I have a used iMac, HD wiped, OS 10.6.8 freshly installed w/Rosetta, Photoshop Elements won't start saying "could not complete because of missing or invalid personalization info." previous owner's name still there preventing initialing?

I have a used iMac, HD wiped clean, OS 10.6.8 freshly installed w/Rosetta, Photoshop Elements was installed but won't start saying "could not complete because of missing or invalid personalization info." is previous owner's name somehow still there preventing initialing?  How do I remove and install my own?  I don't understand as HD was completely wiped with no OS when I got it.

I think Adobe allows their software to be installed on 2 computers only. However, if say you buy another computer and wish to install PSE on the new computer ( effectively a 3rd computer as far as Adobe is concerned ) PSE needs to be properly uninstalled ie not simply by uninstalling using the operating system's uninstall process. It needs to be uninstalled using the Adobe uninstall process that is contained within the software.
You should then be given a prompt as to whether you will be reinstalling on the same computer or if you wish to remove altogether. If the latter, then all traces are removed and the software can be (re) installed on the new computer.
If, unknown to yourself, the software had been installed on 2 computers and although you or the previous may have wiped the hard drive clean, as far as Adobe is concerned the software is still ' registered / assigned ' to 2 computers.
If the previous owner bought a new computer and installed their PSE on it, wiped the hard drive clean without properly uninstalling/removing PSE thentherein probably lies the prblem.
As Allan Jones said, it 's probably worth your while to purchase your own copy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Photoshop Elements won't start, closes, says no serial #

I had to get a new computer, mother board died. Old hard drive installed as d drive and all programs work fine except Photoshop Elements.
looks like it will start, asks me to agree to user agreement, I click agree and it says I did not and will shut down and also says my name and serial # can't be found or aren't valid or something and shuts down.
Chat won't help me but when I searched for help this topic is touched on and clearly states you can not fix yourself.
I am really stuck. I hope someone here can help me.

try uninstalling, cleaning (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then installing.
