Photoshop Elements 11 options toolbar

I'm having trouble viewing my tool options bar in PSE 11 at a lower screen resolution of 1344 x 756. i can see the tools, but the options for these tools is not showing up at the bottom of the screen. Does anyone know if there's a way around this or am doing something incorrectly? (using a mac)

thanks barbara. what was happening is i was reducing the image size of the pictures and working on them that way. but then when I zoomed in to the point where the images were larger enough to see well, they became pixelated. so i  reduced screen resolution to compensate for that lack of detail. However, I realized i can get just as much detail by working on the unreduced picture and zooming in. I don't if that makes sense. Anyway, I'm looking forward to being able to use the imac with native resolution screen. thank you very much for your replies. orbman702

  • "Edit in Photoshop Elements" an Option in Development Module?

In viewing the tutorials for Lightroom (while considering whether to purchase it), I noted that there was integration with PS CS2 (and soon, CS3) and that it works like this: In the "Develop" module select "Photo," then "Edit in Photoshop CS2;" the key here is that once editing in CS2 is complete the saved edits are automatically incorporated back into the Lightroom Library. Because I don't have, and may never need, CS2 (or CS3) along with Lightroom (if I get it) I'd hope that the exact same integration is possible with Photoshop Elements 5. So my question is simple: If PSE 5 is installed along with Lightroom will "Develop" and "Photo" include an option for "Edit in Photoshop Elements 5" and have the same automatic integration with the Lightroom Library? (Or, if PSE 5 is not a listed option but is accessible through the "edit with other" option, will the saved file still be integrated automatically into the Lightroom Library?)
Thanks. (And I did search the forum for this answer; sorry if it was there and I missed it.)

I had a demo copy of elements on my system when I installed the beta version of LR. Along side that I had my old and trusty PS 7.LR found PS7
and I set up Elements as a second option for editing. I bought LR and installed it over the beta version. From then on I was given the option to import from Elements in the file menu.PS7 was greyed outwhen I checked to see if I could still edit under PS7.
The demo of Elements expired so I uninstalled it.LR still offers me the option to import from Elements. I have tried the registry hack and all looks well but it is still grayed out in LR and it still "sees" a program which is no longer on my system. I have had a good look around the system including the registry for remnants of Elements that might still be around but cant see any.
Anyway it seems to me that LR can find Elements if it wants to even if it isnt't there and as I have said elsewhere on this forum, why do we have to hack the registry to get some parts this program to work? Adobe need to sort this and all the other bugs out. They owe it to all of us who have paid good money to them for what seems to be a poorly finished product.

  • Installing Photoshop Elements 8 options

    Hi
I have  just installed Photoshop Elements 8 on my Mac Computer,  However am not sure what the other options are  e.g
Adobe Extension Manager CS4 and Supporting Components : "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS4" and "Adobe fonts all."
As  I was unsure I only installed Photoshop Elements 8 .
Please advise the necessity to install the extra options?  and whether if it ok to install these extra options now, that is, that there will not create problems doing the installing of the extra components separately from Photoshop Elements 8?
    Hopefully this makes sense.
One extra question which has to do with my having uninstalled Photoshop CS4.  When I now try and open a PDF files I receive an error message " Adobe Acrobat Could not install correctly.   ( this relates to an update to  Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional) A required component was not found.  Please restore the Adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD.
Hopefully you can assist with this question.
    Thank you
    Sue

Yes the first part is correct,  However, it seems that acrobat has disappeared with uninstalling Photoshop CS4.  The issue is that I am now unable to open PDF files .  Seems I need to to reinstall just acrobat and am I unsure how to do that ?
I first had inkling that Acrobat had gone missing after uninstalling Photoshop CS4.
A message came through that I could download a patch version 8.1.7 for Acrobat.  This installation failed.  Message received was
"Adobe Acrobat could not install correctly"  - A required component was not found.   Please restore the adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD .
    Hope this helps
    thanks

  • Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog option is missing

The File Menu/Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog is missing on my version of LR5.  I've followed the suggested procedure to update the preferences files for both Elements 12 and Lightroom 5, but LR5 still does not recognize that I have an existing Elements 12 catalog.  I assume if it did the option would now be available?
This was the instruction I tried:

...But we can also wait and see report from other users.
Unfortunately, there is no doubt that the conversion of PSE12 catalogs has been omitted. It's not the first time : I also had to wait for LR4 to be able to convert PSE11 files. We may hope that Adobe will acknowledge the fact, and possibly solve the problem for future versions of PSE.
Of course, it's not a priority for Adobe: the ability to convert PSE catalogs is mainly a sales argument to make the jump from the PSE Organizer to LR easier. Not so many cases, and anyway you can always write metadata to files in PSE and import later in LR. After the jump to LR, you rarely have more PSE catalogs to convert.
However, maintaining misleading update notes by Adobe is not a good point in favour of LR. I do consider that the ability for LR to convert PSE catalog was and still is a very smart demonstration of the ability to deal with database organizational systems. I also consider that once that conversion process is mastered, the update process for each new Elements version is not such a big deal.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 option-click issue

New install of Lion Server on a Mac Mini.  It appears that the option-click key stroke to select a area of a photo to clone is not working.  I get the error below on Elemens 9 and 10.
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point).
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse?  i used Systems Preferences / Keyboard Prefernces /Show Keyboard viewere to see that when I depress the 'option' key it is actually being depressed.  Is the click on the mouse being 'recorded'?
I would just give up and buy Apeture but I have too much invested in Photoshop (software and knowledge).  Where should I complain about this issue?  Apple Store?  This forum?
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse?  I'm going to install 10 (have 9 installed today) on my Mac Air and use it without a mouse to see if I have the same problem.
Why do I feel like I am blazing trails?  I hate that feeling.
    Thanks in advance.

Installed Elements 10 trial on my Mac Air no issue.   Converted my Magic Mouse over to my Mac Air via bluetooth.  !AH AH!!!!!!   Same problem.  I think I have isolated it to something to do with the Magic Mouse.  Tomorrow I will go buy a wired Mac Mouse at the Apple store to see if I have the same issue.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to isolate even more to the Magic Mouse then please step up!

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Effects Toolbar layer styles

I was wondering if anyone knew why in my effects area my layer sytles have disappeared. I have the other three: filters, photo effects, and all. But even under all I am not able to see the layer styles. I can go to the top of my screen and under layer --> layer style --> layer settings still to add drop shadows, bevels etc. but not use the quick toolbar. HELP!!!

    See this post #1.

Note: You  need to delete not rename the mediadatabase.db3 file in  E8. Barbara has told me another post somewhere that renaming it doesn't  work in E8. Be patient as it takes about 5-10 minutes to rebuild the  effects palette.  I believe, I recall someone saying that you should  just let E8 sit and rebuild.
In E8 need to delete the mediadatabase.db3 file  not just rename it. It might take about 10 minutes to rebuild.
If on a Mac,  the route is a little different but same method, see Barbara's post #2:

  • Option to Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog not available (LR5, PSE 12, Win 8)

Hi there. I have trial versions of both Photoshop Elements 12 and Lightroom 5.2 (trial licenses are both still active (i.e. not expired)). I'm looking to import my PSE12 catalog into Lightroom before I plunk down the money to buy it.
I cannot, however, locate the "File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog" option in LR5.
I may have originally installed LR 5 before installing PSE 12. So I uninstalled LR5 and reinstalled it. Still no luck - the option isn't there.
Any other ways to force LR5 to look for the PSE 12 catalog? Will LR5 even recognize a PSE12 catalog?
Your help is greatly appreciated - thanks!
    Note: Using Win 8.1

  • Cannot export layers to files in Photoshop Elements 12

The menu options export and export creations are both disabled / greyed out. I'm trying to save multipule layers to files.
    Please assist.
FYI: Windows 7 64 bit, no scanner attached, installed optional twain plugin from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\optional plug-ins... no change.
Do I really need a scanner to export multiple layers to files? Do I really need to save each layer to a file manually?

You also might try this script to export Layers to Files
    https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=blJVJ4ZFfR7dRg24q-mBbQ
(use this link instead of the no longer active one in the post below to download the Layers to Files.zip)
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4186187#4186187
Unzip the Layers to Files.zip and then copy the Export Layers to Files.jsx
    to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\Presets\Scripts
Then after starting or restarting the pse 12 editor, the script should show under File>Automation Tools>Export Layers to Files

  • Importing to Adobe photoshop Elements 9 from copier

When I bought Elements 9 I was told I could import my photo's from my copier.  Don't see how to do this import.  I had Photoshop 5 and had no problems it was right there in import.

    In windows 7, navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Optional Plug-ins\Import-Export
Where you will find the Twain_32.8BA plugin.
Right click on the plugin and choose copy, then navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\en_US\Plug-ins\Import-Export
and right click and choose paste.
Then start pse9 and see if the scanner is under File>Import.

  • I have just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements onto my Mac Book Pro (10.9.4) and attempted to use Elements on an existing Photoshop file.  I did not see the Elements option in my filter menu and need assistance

I have just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements onto my Mac Book Pro (10.9.4).  The installation to my hard drive went fine so I attempted to use Elements on an existing Photoshop file.  I did not see the Elements option in my filter menu and am uncertain as to how to "add" the Elemnts to my existing filter choices.  Please advise.

I'm sorry but it's very hard to understand what you mean. What filter menu? In which program? Do you mean you're trying to use PSE as an external editor with some other asset management program? Which one?
