Photoshop Elements 11 quits

Windows 8
Uninstalled and reinstalled twice
Go to open organizer, it loads until it tries to read the catalogue, then it just quits.  No error message, no nothing, just disappears then I can't open it at all (click on the icon and nothng happens).  I thought that maybe the catalogue was corrupted but I can't find it and all the instructions I found online require Photoshop to boot fully to access it.  I did a system search for *.psa and it didn't find it.  I uninstalled, reinstalled, SAME thing happening.

Please refer to Organizer section of the blog: http://tinyurl.com/afrvtk3 and let me know if it resolves the issue.

After Photoshop Elements quit working for the second time in three months, I uninstalled it and now cannot get it to reinstall from the disc. Nothing happens when I insert the disc. All I can do is look at the folders and files and see nothing that tells me how to start the installation. Clicking "open with Auto play" gives me irrelevant options, view photos, share, etc. I'm running Windows 8. This program has worked, although buggy, for the past year.

    Yes.
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10
However, the real issue is why the program is not working. Did you install anything recently?
When you tried to re-install from the disk, did you shut off the antivirus program temporarily?
Have you tried a system restore to a point in time when the program was working properly?

  • Photoshop elements quits MAC

I bought photoshop in december and I can load organizer but it quits after 2 minutes consistently, 100% of the time so I can't use the application.   It gives me the option to send a report to Adobe which I have done about 19 times but nothing happens. When i contact support they tell me they can't help me because the application can be loaded so its outside the boundaries for chat support. They told me to go to the forums but I can't use the application I bought AT ALL, its not like i found a bug.  Has anyone encountered this issue? I had an older version or organizer and loved it. Switched to MAc and bought the new one (13) and I am so disappointed in Adobe support. I have spend so much time on this. Any help is appreciated.

    Try trashing the prefs.
    Quit Elements.
Launch Finder and find the user Library by clicking the Go menu whilst holding down the Optn (alt) key (n.b. the library is hidden until you press the optn key) and inside the Library folder select the preferences folder. Then trash the following 3 files:
    com.Adobe.Elements Organizer.13.0.plist
    com.Adobe.Elements Organizer.13.0.UUID.plist
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer13.plist
    Re-launch Elements.

  • Quitting Photoshop Elements 9

I own a Mac, OS X 10.6.6, I am running Photoshop Elements 9 along with  Photoshop CS5 (Christmas Present) and Aperture 3. I think I have the  post processing applications just about where I need them..lol. This  issue started before I loaded CS5.
A few weeks ago I noticed on closing my Elements program following the  completion of any image processing, I am getting a message that  Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly. I am getting this notification  when I really did mean to close down the program. The closure of the  Elements program is taking a considerable amount of time, almost like  there is something running and it will not stop.
Here is what I have done so far to try and cure the issue, nothing has worked...yet:
A complete uninstalled and reinstall of PSE 9
Run Disc Permissions and Disc Repair
    Emptied all Cache Files
I installed PSE 9 on a new Mac Laptop, the same issue is happening,  Elements is working correctly, starts fine, processes my commands fine,  but upon closure of the program, Elements hesitates and then flashes a  message, Photoshop Elements 9 quit unexpectedly. I am NOT using the Organizer, I am using Adobe Bridge CS5
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and if so, how did you resolve?
    Thanks for looking.
    Steve

    Barbara....YAHOOOOOO!!!!! That was it.
In my Elements Prefrence Panel, I deselected the plugin file where my topaz products were located. I closed down Elements and got the error. I then restarted Elements, opened an image and noticed Topaz was gone from the Filter menu. I then closed down Elements, Elements shutdown normally. I am not sure which product was giving me the issue. I did download a new version of Remask 3 about the time the issue started. Elements seems to be running so much faster. I went ahead and trashed all the topaz filters. I will now download them again and hopefully watch each filter and see which one gives me the issue. I have the same issue happening on my Macbook Pro Laptop.
Thank you so much. This issue has been nagging me for sometime. You hit the issue right on the head. Thank you!!!

  • Photoshop Elements 4 will not launch

I have installed Photoshop Elements 4 on my MacBook. Photoshop Elements 4 is a PowerPC app. (not Universal). From what I've read, it should open with Rosetta. But every time I try to open it, I get an error message: "The application Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly." I've uninstalled and installed several times.
I've tried going to File>Get Info so see if I could make this PowerPC app open under Rosetta, but that choice is not available under "General".
Is there any way I can use this non-universal program in my intel-based Mac?
I guess what I'm really asking is whether Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac (PowerPC) is supported by Rosetta (since it's not a universal application). If it's not supported, I suppose that means I can't use it on my intel-based MacBook.
    Thanks for the help.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Barbara---
I have had PE 4.0 running on my MacBook Pro 17" for about a year. Two days ago I tried launching PE 4.0 like normal and it fails. On the advice of Apple I tried creating a new account. The error message on install says a file is missing. It does not say which file. Installation continues until completed but PE 4.0 will not launch. I also trashed absolutely every Adobe file I could find, including preferences, repaired permissions, etc., reinstalled PE 4.0. Still no joy. I am running 10.4.9 with the last update about two weeks ago. PE 4.0 would lanuch and run fine until two days ago. Any suggestions?
    Thanks...

  • Photoshop Elements 8 for the Mac crashes on exit

I recently installed PE 8 for the Mac on an iMac running OS x 10.6.4.  When I exit the program I get an error message from the OS that Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly.  I also get an error message from PE that it crashed.
With the assistance of tech support I have downloaded it again, reinstalled it and even set up another admin accounted and repeated the downloading and installation process to no avail.  I am still waiting for a reply from "upper level techs."
I have not started to use PE8 because I am reluctant to invest a lot of effort and photos until this is corrected.

    Cal-
That's a bummer. I think Elements is probably half way between iPhoto and Aperture... the advantage is that it sets you up to move pretty seamlessly to Photoshop, which is clearly a lot more powerful than Aperture. But if Aperture does all you want, you will probably be happy with it.
You didn't happen to save the email from Adobe support, did you? I would LOVE to see it.
    cheers,
    tom

  • Photoshop Elements 4 crashing

Ok I have a new install of Photoshop Elements 4, I am running 10.4.11 on a MacBook 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo 2 with 2Gb of ram and a 250Gb hard drive. while working in Elements when I try random commands, I get the dialog box that Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly. I reset the settings in Elements, but this did not help. Thanks for taking the time to help.

No, nobody from the adobe forum sent you here. I don't know where you were but I can find no posts from you or unresolved posts on this subject in the past week or two at the adobe PE forum. If you were at elements village, that has nothing at all to do with adobe.
Now then. First thing to do: go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
    PE 4.0 preferences folder
    PE 4.0 paths folder
    Opera preferences
    repair permissions and try again
If that doesn't do it, go to applications>PE 4>plug-ins>import/export and delete the adobe twain driver.
I am assuming that you have installed the patch to PE 4.01, of course.

I have used it on several occasions but I cannot get it to run now.  When I open a photo using elements the Adobe box pops up saying that the programme has unexpectedley quit? can anyone help me please as I have several photos to edit before the end of this month. Many thanks for any help

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

Thank you for responding.  Nothing actually worked!  After reading the posts online, I called Apple.  They indicated they have seen problems with some software after their upgrades.  The technician was able to fix the problem on my computer remotely, but I have no clue what he did!  But, it was definitely related to their recent upgrade to my computer.

  • My photoshop elements 8 no longer works...when I open an image in it, the application opens and then suddenly closes with the error message:"Adobe has detected that the application Adobe Photoshop eleents has unexpectedly quit"

Can anyone help me with the 'unexpectedly quit' error message I now get when opening an image in Photoshop elements 8?

If your product is Photoshop Elements, then you have posted in the wrong forum. Somehow your thread got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
Please re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum (probably quicker choice) or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and then move it from here to there.

    Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
For PSE 9, the update process was best using a manual method.
Are you trying to do Help - Updates?
If so try these downloads (fand follow the manual instructions given on the pages.

  • Trouble scanning with Photoshop elements 4.0, Software keeps quitting.

I'm using Photoshop elements as the scanner driver for my cannon flatbed scanner. I haven't used the scanner for a while. Now scans seem to take much longer and before I save, the program unexpectedly quits and I lose the images a waited forever to scan. At first I thought the problem was too little hard drive space, but the problem continues after freeing up more than enough space. I looked for software updates through the menu bar and didn't find any. Any suggestions?

Go to applications>Photoshop Elements 4.0>plug-ins>import/export and send the Adobe TWAIN driver to the trash (but don't empty it). If that helps and you don't have any trouble scanning, empty the trash.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 quitting unexpectedly.

Hello all I have photoshop elements 8, and it has been working perfectly for about a year or so. However, no when I try to open it, it says it has quit unexpectedly and a large 'Problem Details and System Configuration' log comes up, saying something about bad access, etc.
The only tampering I have done is adding a brush pack, which I have done tons of times, and this 'crash' only happened a few months after I downlaoded my last time. I did nothing different before it happened.
I am using a Macbook Pro, the program came with my Bamboo Pen and Touch, I have tons of free space on my computer, and everything runs fast, so it was never slow or anything.
I have the serial, but I have lost the disk, so if I could get access to a trial version, perhaps I could 'redownload' which usually fixes problems like this, I believe.
Thanks for all and any help. If anyone asks, I can provide the log type text.

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4: Remove any third party plugins or brushes you have installed and then launch.
    Solution 5:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 quits with OS Lion

I am having trouble running Photoshop Elements 8 with OSX Lion. Any time I ask for "help" of any kind, the program quits. Anyone know a fix?

That sounds like a question for Adobe: http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
Adobe likes to do things their own way and those ways frequently fail.

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 unexpectedly quits when launching

I just installed Photoshop Elements 4.0. Every time I try to launch the program it starts to open and then unexpectedly quits and gives me the option of reporting it to Apple. I've installed it four times and this happens each time I try to launch the program. The installation goes fine as far as I can tell and I restart the computer each time.
I am running OS 10.3.9 on a PowerPC G4 with 640 MB of RAM and 108 GB available on the hard drive, so there shouldn't be a problem with meeting the System Requirements.
Power Mac G4, iBook G3, Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

After reading your response, I think I repaired permissions (in Disk Utility, right? Click on the disk and then on Repair Permissions). I tried several more installs, repairing permissions before each one. That didn't work, so I created a new administrative account and tried installing from there. I did that a couple of times, again repairing permissions before each one. PE still crashes when launching.
My computer is on 24/7, with a backup to my external hard drive scheduled for each night. Since I first installed PE, my back up software has also been unexpectedly quitting. I did a backup after completely shutting down my computer and it worked fine. Won't know until tomorrow whether the automatic backup will work.
I checked the Adobe support for PE and tried some of their suggestions, including going to Console to identify software conflicts. I didn't find anything there, except that the crash log says it's a kern problem. Does that help at all?
I've never had a problem with installing software before. Should I erase my disk and reinstall everything, or is that a last resort?
