Photoshop Elements 11 slow

I upgraded to Photoshop 11 from Photoshop 9 on my Mac and I can't believe how slow the programe is to respond ! Very Disapointed

Go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and turn off everything there. The auto analyzer can really slow things down.

  • Photoshop elements slow to start

We have a number of staff who are using Photoshop Elements 10 and Photoshop
Elements 12. When either of these programs are started we get "Not
Responding" error. This only happen when the computer is connected to the
LAN. The application is OK to use after 3-4 minutes.
I have re-install Photoshop with the Antivirus disabled.
    I have removed all printers.
I have set so that the Welcome screen does not show.
I have run the Delete the Settings Files on start-up.
    I have created new a psa.prf file.
I have also tried many other setting changes under Preferences.
What is Photoshop doing when the computers are connected to the LAN that it
    is not doing when disconnected?

Sorry, I guess I should have said "One of the suggestions offered was to disconnect from the Internet." As it happens, that works. Not using the welcome screen does nothing.
With the Internet connected, Photoshop 10 needs better than 6 minutes to start up and be ready to use. Starting while disconnected from the Internet requires less than 10 seconds.
This is a work around, but it is not a fix. Temporary and unacceptable.
Uninstall, reinstall? Been there, done that, too many times.
I was hoping for something different that would either fix the problem or upgrade a faulty product for users who deserve better.
After the customer has purchased a product in good faith, what sort of business practice recommends that the user disable a product feature in order to use it?

  • Photoshop elements slow download from Adobe Netsite

I tried to introduce a friend of mine to photoshop elements, went to the adobe netsite and started the download after I helped him set up an account. The adobe interface window stated that the download would take NINE HOURS! I stopped the download and started again from scratch. The same thing happened.
We checked the computer and the DSL connection and there were no problems. We downloaded another software package and it downloaded rapidly and installed with no issues. Is somethig wrong with the Adobe Netsite?

Try downloading the offline installer from http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-12-direct-download-links-premiere.html
Make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page.
I just downloaded the installer from that link, and it took about 5 minutes to complete the download (and I am 10,000 km away from the Adobe download servers).

I recently bought, from the original website of Adobe, Photoshop elements 13. However, when I go with my mouse pointer over the menu, It hangs or he works very slow. Does anyone have an idea how I can fix it? I have already downloaded updates, both from Adobe and Windows. I have a new pc with window 8.1.

It could be a coincidence, but I rebooted the machine and (knock on wood) PSE13 seems to be working ok.

  • What do i do with a very slow Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on a PC?

I seem to be getting mixed opinions as to why my Adobe software gets so slow, despite efforts to avoid that, but my computer seems to be working just fine, it is only when in Adobe that the problems arise, like freezing, taking longer and longer periods of time to open the screen to edit a photo, or to compare two photos side by side.  Any process seems to take such a long time, and the freezing can last for several minutes, and then continue on.    I have had a computer person come to my house and examine my computer and though his knowledge of Photoshop is limited, he feels that it is NOT the computer but something with Adobe Photoshop.  I would tend to agree with him.
Several theories have been explained to me, such as Elements and Premiere Elements are a low end of the scale of Photoshop programs, so it is just not going to be able to process high definition large photos well and quickly.  Stating comments like i can only use 2 GB of my memory even though i have 8 GB, so unless i can use 64 bit this is what i have to deal with, and it is just a way for Photoshop to say you need to upgrade to the fancier programs.  I do not need fancier programs.  I am working hard to master these, and have accomplished 4 great blu rays in high definition thanks to recommendations from the Forum here, especially Steve with the help of his books.
Others say i need a solid state hard drive to solve the problem.  Others say the only way i will ever solve the problem is to switch to a MAC.  Others state is a mal-ware problem, but i have never had my hard drive so clean and uncluttered.  I supposedly have as good of PC as i could have as far as QUAD-core, 8GB memory, presently a 1 TB hard drive less than 1/2 full.   All suggestions involve big outlays of money, with no guarantee that things will be any better.  I have tried to contact different computer companies and computer 'nerds', and these are some of the suggestions, but no one really has a lot of knowledge of the Photoshop software.
I am thinking of adding an additional internal hard drive, but not sure that is going to help either.  Could i put all my Photoshop of the second hard drive, and might that speed things up?
Adobe is rather worthless in trying to get help from them.  I have spent hours on the phone waiting and then talking to someone who says they understand English but they do NOT understand the question i am asking, which becomes very frustrating with repeat phone calls.  I gave up yesterday trying to do that challenging experience yesterday after i had spent 3 times the amount of time they said i would need to wait to get a reply, and i was at work, and my free time had come to an end.  So i am hoping you guys can give me some clues of the best thing to do.
Is it true that Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are just such a lower end program that trying to do things in high definition, with 2000x1500 photos, making them into a blu ray disc is a major challenge with a PC?  I wish i had a greater computer knowledge, but i have struggled to achieve my goal, but the speed of it all gets very frustrating, though it is possible.
Another question asked which i don't think exists, is whether there is a program that could clean up Photoshop, or are there some clues that could accomplish that and thereby speed things up.
Would appreciate any suggestions anyone has.  I am in the middle of another project so now is probably not the best time to consider any major changes.  But any comments would be appreciated.
    Ron

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

Turn off face recognition and the auto-analyzer to improve performance.
When editing photos or videos check the task manager to see what background processes may be running and end them temporarily if not needed.

  • Slow video playback in Photoshop Elements 11

Playback of videos directly in Photoshop Elements Organizer is very slow. Video is stuttering.
Playing the same video outside of PSE11 with Windows Media Player is much better. Video plays without any stuttering.
Looks like the internal video player of PSE11 is very poor and provides slow performance.
What can I do do have the same video performance with the PSE11 player as I have with WMP.
I use Windows 7 64 Bit (8 GB RAM) with a Intel Core i3 (2330). This CPU has enough power to playback HD or Full-HD videos without any stuttering!!!
Why can't the internal play of PSE11 Organizer play my videos without stuttering - like WMP 12.0.7601.18150 does?
    Regards,
    Dodson65

The videos I use are created with different devices.
I have HD videos taken with a Pentax DSLR and I have Full-HD videos taken with a Windows Phone 8 device.
Both playback on my Laptop without any stottering with different software. I checked WMP and VLC. Even when using my Laptop with energy-saving profile these videos can be played without stottering.
When I playback the videos in PSE11 Organizer I don't want to edit them - just playback. So why should the internal player behave different? I agree with you - this might be different when I playback the videos in Premiere Elements 11 (as this is a video editing software). But when using Photoshop Elements 11 I want to be able to playback videos in the same performance as I can do with WMP or VLC. If Photoshop Elements 11 can't do that - why? The organizer of PSE11 is not an editor. It should be able to playback videos the same way (with the same performance) as other players on my laptop.
Can you please explain this sentence: "Have you started a Premiere Elements project yet that uses this video's specs? This will often trigger Premiere Elements to download the necessary components for interpretting the video." Is there anything I can do to improve video playback performance?

  • Photoshop Elements 10 is extremely slow to start

Photoshop Elements 10 is extremely slow to start. It needs three minutes after starting before any sign of the program appears.
Then another three minutes passes before the program will respond to a mouse click.
While the program is in use, the display frequently freezes at seemingly random times and is unresponsive for a varying period of time.
It has always been this way since installation.
I read in the community forums that starting the Photoshop editor directly with a shortcut will bypass the start screen and eliminate the problem. Tried it--it does not.
I also in the community forums that the program is trying to connect with photoshop.com which no longer exits. The fix offered was to disconnect from the Internet. This is not acceptable.
I will not be upgrading to a newer version as a fix (as someone suggested) unless it is offered without additional cost.
Is there any sort of work around if not an actual fix for this problem?

  • Photoshop Elements 12 - Very Slow Download

    Hello,
Having purchased from the official Adobe website the Photoshop Elements 12 (Mac version), I cannot wait to download it and see it in real motion.
However, the download speed is so slow that after an hour of download, the download box still indicates approx. 8 hours 50 minutes until download completion; and moving 0.1MB every second.
Now, just tried to cancel download and restart again, but the speed is still exceedingly slow and starting all over again...  The download is not likely to be an effective one based on how it is looking now and I am feeling very concerned that after many more hours of waiting and trying by myself, I would still be disappointed at the result.  Therefore, I am earnestly seeking your support here.
I don't know if this is a global issue for all online download for Photoshop Elements 12 or it is just a stand-alone case for me. For your reference, I am using MacBook Air (OS X 10.9.4) with very good broadband internet connection.
Does anyone know a solution to this issue?   Look forward to hearing from you and getting the issue figured out real soon.  Many thanks in advance.

Thank you very much, Pat, for your great help.   The link has inspired me to download the trial version from the Adobe website and go from there:
"Adobe Download Assistant" was automatically downloaded before the download of the trial version began.  With the "Adobe Download Assistant" up and running, the download of the trial version took within 30 minutes.  I then got to enter the serial code of my already purchased PSE 12 right after installation of the trial version and completed the whole set-up process (without even opening or using the trial version at all).
It is rather counter-intuitive that one should start with a trial download even when he has gone straight into buying the product.  It was as if the trial version was a bridge to facilitate the official download because the trial version provided the "Adobe Download Assistant".  Maybe, it is expected that people would always take a trial before buying?  Or maybe, it is expected that most people would already have the "Adobe Download Assistant" handy?
Anyway, I am glad there is a solution.  In this case, I think the key is to get the "Adobe Download Assistant" which comes with the trial version.  Hope this post will help others who might face the same issue too.
    Many thanks again.

  • Have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  I don't know what's wrong!

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  Have no idea what's wrong or how to fix.  Op Sys is Apple, OS X, ver 10.9.1.

    If so, then see:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/28/photoshop-elements-and-os-x-mave ricks/
For PSE 11 you want to get
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 settings
    if you use organizer, also
    com.adobe.Elements Organizer.11.0.plist
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer11.plist
If you use raw, Adobe Camera Raw < version > Prefs
and any lockfiles with the same names.
Since you've already run PSE, go into the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.
Also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure everything there is off (except face recognitiion, if you use that).

  • Photoshop Elements 11 : very slow startup

    Hi
Here is a description of my problem:
    I boot my machine.
    I start Photoshop Elements 11.
It takes a very long time to get ready ( loading color settings and workshop modes )
I close Photoshop Elements 11 when I am done with my project.
All subsequent startups of Photoshop Elements 11 are very fast.
    My question
How can I avoid the very slow FIRST startup of Photoshop Elements 11 ?
Can I pre-load the needed services (or whatever) when I boot my machine or when I login to my user account ?
Thank you in advance for your help

  • Slow Running Photoshop Elements and Quicken

Recently installed Photoshop Elements 12 on my iMac Mid 2010 model OSX 10.9.4.  Previously ran PE 9 and 11 successfully.  Organizer crashes frequently; works slowly; cannot complete download of large Nikon 14-bit RAW files (24 mp camera) without crashing.  Editor works reasonably well.  Quicken (2011 version) now slowing also.  Have run Etrecheck but unsure how to upload.

AFAIK, Quicken '11 isn't a Mac version. Only Quicken '07 and '15 are Mac versions. Both run w/o issues on my machine.

  • Why is photoshop elements 11 so slow to load and shut down

it takes me at least 4-5 minutes to open PSE 11 Organizer each time, and then probably 1-2 minutes to shut it down.  Has anyone experienced the same problem or does anyone have a resolution to this.  I'm on Windows 7.

I had already shut off everything in media analysis, including face
    recognition.

  • I have Photoshop Elements 10.0 and Photoshop CS6, and they are both running very slow.

I called Apple Support and they said that the CPU is preforming high on a very simple task. Also, that it didn't seem to be affecting the memory.
    Any suggestions?

  • Photoshop Elements 10 download slow

I just bought Photoshop Elements 10 today and it has been downloading for almost 3 hours. It was almost done, then it started all over again. Is this normal?

If it is stuck at extracting this is usually due to selecting a folder which the Adobe Download Assistant does not have permissions to write too.  You can either cancel the download and then reinitiate the download this time choosing the default download location of your User folder.  Alternately you can use the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.

  • PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS VER 6 AND MY NEW IMAC (WON'T/SLOW OPEN)

I have a new mac computer, OS 10, and loaded the trial version of photoshop elements 6 and then purchased the program. I tried to install using the disk, and got error message, called help desk, they got it loaded after 2 + hours. Now when I click to open the program, it takes 10 to 15 minutes if it even opens.....any ideas?

What did the help desk make you do? it sounds to me like you should uninstall and reinstall, but that may not work, depending on how you got it going the first time.
