Photoshop Elements 12 and Windows 8.1 error message

Hi,
I have just installed Photoshop Elements 12 on my laptop which went fine. but when I search the computer for photograph's the following error appears;
''Direct X/Direct Play could not be initialised. Please be sure that it is installed on your system''
I have checked and it is!
Can anyone offer a fix to this problem?

There have been a few W8.1 posts about this problem. The fix is to enable DirectPlay under legacy features. It's in Control panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Turn windows features on or off.

There is a problem with IE10+ in that it is mistakenly seen as being IE1. To get around this either use a different browser or use compatibility view (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-10)

Airport express and Windows 8 dns error message

I have just purchased a HP windows 8 machine. It works fine on my old Airport (5 years) wireless, but with the Airport express it does not. I can connect with CAT5 cable direct. When I bring up the available connections I see the airport express and pick it, type in the password and it says connected. Next I click on IE and I get the error message "This page can't be displayed" I run the fix connection problems and it says "Your DNS server might be unavailable". Check list of items.
1. Windows 8 wireless machine works fine on old Airport
2. Windows 8 direct connect works fine on Airport Express amd old Airport
3. Windows 7 wireless machine works fine on both old Airport and Airport Express
I am using the default settings on the Airport express except password is being used.
Windows 8 >>>wireless>>>Airport Express>>>router

What are the model numbers of both your Extreme and Express base stations? Do you have them configured for a 802.11n (extended) or 802.11g (WDS) Wi-Fi network?

Maybe you need to enable Direct Play under Legacy Components in the Turn Windows Features on or off dialog.

Are you trying to open the Organizer or the Editor?
Can you uninstall that driver, or re-set Win7 to a restore point before that driver was installed?

Trying to download Premier Elements and getting 64 bit error message

I called support at first when problem downloading. They sent me a link for both Elements and Premier. Photoshop Elements worked. Premier I got it downloaded then at setup it says cannot use the installation for 64 bit. I have Windows 8 64 bit. Confused! Anyone able to assist me? I have a brain injury so please be specific. The error you are facing ususally comes up when you try to install the software on a 32 bit computer.
Please check your computer specifications and let me know the exact details.
Also please let me know the exact error message (with screenshots if possible).

what file (name and extension) did you download?
hint: if win os, download both an exe and 7z. put both in the same directory and double click the exe.

Photoshop Elements and Windows Live Mail :(

Had Adobe come out with a patch yet to fix their oversight regarding WLM? Windows 7 had WLM and you can't get PE to send photos to WLM. It's very disappointing. I hate to abandon my favorite photo email software for something that works...... but looks like I'll have to.

Layers Panel , Photoshop Elements and Windows 7

Anybody got any ideas on how to open the layers panel in photo editor?. When either using "window/layer or F11 all I get is a blank page on the right of the picture, not like the one shown on page 331 on the downloaded manual. I have only recently purchased to program, so I am new to it.

First, you do have an image open when you do this? Assuming yes try using the 'More' button at the very bottom right of the Editor screen and select 'Custom Workspace'. That should bring up the customisable multi-tabbed view. If it does and you like it, keep it. Otherwise click 'More' again and select 'Basic Workspace'. Hopefully this will reset the any display problem you may have. If not use Edit> Preferences> General> Reset Preferences on Next Launch and restart PSE.

Same issue here in WI and for me it was at 6:36p CST.
I'm changed my password, removed iCloud from my phone ... tried 3G and WIFI with no luck. I also cannot check it on my Mac or iPad. I was able to get contacts and calenders back on my phone but no mail yet.

Just wondering because I know there were going to be some changes as they completely move MobileMe over to iCloud and drop the "extra" services. The D810 requires Camera Raw 8.6 or later - the latest version that is compatible with Photoshop Elements 12 is Camera Raw 8.5 as far as I can see.
You need to either buy a new version of Photoshop Elements or use the free Adobe DNG converter.
