Photoshop Elements 12 - preset for new blank file

I am using a trial of Photoshop Elements 12 and I would like to know how to make a preset for a new blank file so I don't have to keep loading that information into the program.
Thank you.

First make sure pse 12 is not running before doing the below steps.
Also, in windows 8.1, you need to have the Hidden Files and folders shown
http://www.ricksdailytips.com/view-hidden-files-and-folders-windows-8-1/
Go to
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\12.0\Editor
and open the New Documents Sizes.psp in Notepad
Then after whatever number is actually in the file (two in my example)
paste this line and then File>Save
"785 px X 250 px" 785.00 250.00 px 72.00 dpi RGB 8 1.00 white "sRGB IEC61966-2.1"
Then start the pse 12 editor and the preset should show on the preset list in the new document dialog

  • Deactivating and reactivating? Adobe photoshop elements 12 for new computer

I am considering buying a new computer, therefore upgrading from windows 7 to window 8.1 and thense to windows 10 when it is released.
I have read that I need to deactivate and reactivate? my Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 once I get my new computer because I can only have one on a computer at one time.
I am however, unsure how to do this.I am also unsure how I would go about getting my Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 onto my new computer, daft as that might sound, especially as I will be using windows 8, which I don't have as much knowledge of using as 7.
I would be greatful for any help. Thanks.

it doesn't matter when you deactivate and then uninstall because it's only on one computer now.
to install on your new computer, download the installation files (if you don't have them) and activate using your serial number.

  • Which Raw plug-in using Nikon D7000 and Photoshop Elements 7 for importing NEF files?

Cannot import NEF files from Nikon D7000.
Which Raw plug-in is avalible for Adobe Photoshop Elements 7? According to Help sites version 6.3 is needed, But is it kompatible with Elements /??
    Please help!

It’s not possible to update PSE7 beyond ACR 5.5. You have two alternatives:
    1) Upgrade to PSE 10. 2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your NEF files to the Adobe Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original NEF’s as backups)

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

  • I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for two years. I got a new printer and installed it although I did not remove my old printer from my computer. I used this program and my new printer for quite a few months, but today I deleted my old printer

I have been using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 for along time now. When I first used the program I had a different printer than I have now. Although I changed printers I never removed the software from my old one. Now this was never a problem until today. When I choose a printer I still had option to use the old one but always chose my new HP Envy 5530 and Adobe never had a problem printing from that new printer. However today I decided to remove my old printer from my computer and now my Adobe cannot find my new printer.  How can I make it find the HP printer?

    Try this --

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

Since pse 9 can only use up to camera raw 6.5 and the d600 needs at least 7.3 and the d800 needs at least 6.7, you can use the
8.6 adobe dng converter to convert those files to dng copies, which then pse 9 should open.

I just updated my mac from Tiger to Mountain Lion.  wiped the computer clean and started fresh Loaded Photoshop elements 11 (brand new in the box) and when I try to start it - it comes up saying - Licensing for the product has stopped working contact for help. in Looking for help I was directed here. what do I do?

I don't know enough to not follow directions. I bought the software brand new in a sealed from factory box. Had it sitting around until - last week when I deleted flash on my computer and had to upgrade to the new OSX. Mountain Lion doesn't use iPhoto - so I had to go with something else. Since I already had this new - unopened package  I opened it up. Shut down all running programs - inserted the disk and followed all the directions for installation.  Still it didn't work.
I have now uninstalled it (the proper way) and am going to try again.
    I appreciate your responses.
    Thank you!
If this doesn't work - I am going to just buy Lightroom.

  • My new blank file is suddenly gray and paint bucket no longer works correctly.

Photoshop Elements 10.  I started a new blank file, which opened white, as usual.  I enclosed the file with the rectangular marquee tool, and used the paint bucket to fill the background with a brownish color I choose, except it filled with gray.  I looked to be sure the color mode was RBG color, and it is.  After a frustrating couple of attempts to change the color, I thought of a work around and just created a new layer and colored it, but, when I tried to change the color again, the paint bucket would not respond, so I created another layer and the paint bucket then changed the color for me again.  However, I really would prefer it work the way it did before, instead of creating unnecessary layers to do the job.  I insert a screen shot, if it helps.  Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

I clicked on the arrow and reset the tool.  I also reset the transparency setting in preferences, which was the only color related setting I saw there, to no avail.  I opened another new file, same result, dumping the paint bucket produced only a grayscale color.  Thanks for the suggestion, however.

  • Installing old Photoshop Elements on a new computer

I have an old version of Photoshop Elements and a new MAC. It was previously installed on my PC which crashed. But the new MAC won't let me install this software - it tells me there is an error with the install.

OK... so this is an OLD version - it is 4.0 (2006). My MAC is running OS X Version 10.8.2. The installation begins and some of the files begin installing then it quits and the message reads: "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    Thanks

  • Installing Photoshop Elements 2 to new iMac w/Tiger

Recently bought new iMac and had trouble running Photoshop Elements 2 after installation. First I transferred via firewire from G4 wOSX 10.3.9 to iMac w/10.4.11 putting the PE2 folder in the iMac Application folder. I thought the application launched at first on iMac. But at launch now I get "Downloading Files 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 from Adobe web" whenever launched. The "2 of 2" blue progress bar goes all the way to full eventually but ball spins forever and must do a force quit to get out of Photoshop 2.
Next I tried reinstalling from original CD and put in correct S/N from CD, etc. but same symptom? Is there a compatibility problem with the application and Intel-based machines w/Tiger?
    Any ideas?
    Louie

SOLVED!! ...I don't know how to apportion credit! Thanks to both Barbara and Ezdso!
What I did was first disable the internet (both Airport and Ethernet) to stop Photoshop Elements 2 from trying to update from Adobe. Then I was able to reset preferences by pressing Shift Option Command at Launch of PE2 before it went to the internet to pull down Adobe files.. When I then started the application, PE2 seemed to momentarily complain that there was no internet connection. Anyhow, bottom line is, after then quitting the application and reconnecting to the internet, Photoshop Elements came up as it should and seems to be working fine. Thanks also goes to Ezdso for the link in Elementsvillage.com which described the problem that I was having. Thanks to both of you. I think I'll move over to Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac soon as I have the DVD for Leopard and will switch to that soon most likely.
    Regards, Louie

You are allowed to have two activated installations.  If you happened to have one on this Windows 8 machine before, it is possible that the activation used for it was never deactivated (did you deactivate it before you upgraded Windows?).  Talk to Adobe support thru chat.  They might be able to resolve this with you:

  • Loading .gif animations into Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac

For years I used Photoshop Elements 2 for Windows to make .gif animations with great success.
Then I switched to a Mac and bought Elements 8 for Mac.  Now, I am finding out that I can not load any
of the animations I made using Elements 2 into 8.  (And yet I can load animations I made using 8 into 2.)
In fact, I can not load any .gif animations into 8, other than if I make one and save it
as .psd.  8 allows me to make them, but not load them as .gifs.
My question:  Is there an easy way to load .gif animations into PS Elements 8 so a
person can work on the individual frames?  Am I going to have to convert any .gif animation I
want to import into 8 first into .psd?  All I seem to get when I try to load a .gif is the message
"This is an animated gif.   You can only view one frame." I have searched manuals and the
Net looking for a specific method of using PSE8 to load gif animations intact (not just one frame).
Is it possible?  Thanks. (I also have noticed that Elements 8 will not allow me to change the frame
speed -- it is unchangeable at .2)

    Dear Ms. Brundage -
I followed the directions detailed in your blog entitled "Moving a Catalog from Windows to Mac" as well as your description of the process on page 58 of your book "Photoshop Elements 9 - the missing manual."
I installed PE9 for Windows and converted my catalog.  I then backed up that catalog to an external hard drive.  I then connected the hard drive to my MAC on which I also installed Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC.  I opened the Organizer and tried to restore that converted catalog.  However, for each file in the converted catalog, a dialog box opened that said "Could not restore file:  /Volumes/Name of External Hard Drive/Filename.JPG."
I then made a second backup of the converted catalog using Photoshop Elements 9 for Windows and then tried to restore that catalog again on the MAC using Photoshop Elements 9 for MAC, again to no avail.
Do you have any idea what the problem may be?
    Thanks again.
