Photoshop Elements 12 will not launch after installation.

I've installed Photoshop Elements 12 to my IMac that has 4 GB memory with Mountain Lion. But after various attempts (loading it on Safari, Chrome), am unable to launch it. Adobe says it has something to do with hidden libraries. From a DMG, I select install, it requests password to log on. All the icons flash off.  And nothing happens.  Any ideas what I can do?  Thanks.

Did you ever use Help> Sign In to activate it? Both entering a serial number and signing in are required (once signed in you don't ever sign out unless you want to deactivate the software).
The advice here - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1452533?tstart=0 - should allow the software to restart so that you can activate it.
Cheers,
Neale

I have successfully installed Elements 13. I try to launch program in photo editor and the password screen comes up. I successfully enter password and get the licensing agreement. I click agree and the screen closes and nothing happens.  how do I get the program to launch?

the password and licensing agreement are needed for installation, not to run.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 will not launch from it's tile in windows 8

Photoshop Elements 10 will not launch(open) from it's tile in windows 8,if I restart the computer then try it, it launches. but once I close the program and try to launch it agian from the tile it won't launch  (open)
    What going on ?

You might unpin (Unpin from Start) the photoshop elements 10 shortcut from the start screen and then go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10 and right click on the PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and choose Pin to Start.
And/or if you want an shortcut on the actual desktop you can use Send to>Desktop (create shortcut)
Perhaps the shortcut directly to the pse 10 editor will work better when using the start screen.

  • Photoshop Elements 4 will not launch

I have installed Photoshop Elements 4 on my MacBook. Photoshop Elements 4 is a PowerPC app. (not Universal). From what I've read, it should open with Rosetta. But every time I try to open it, I get an error message: "The application Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly." I've uninstalled and installed several times.
I've tried going to File>Get Info so see if I could make this PowerPC app open under Rosetta, but that choice is not available under "General".
Is there any way I can use this non-universal program in my intel-based Mac?
I guess what I'm really asking is whether Photoshop Elements 4 for Mac (PowerPC) is supported by Rosetta (since it's not a universal application). If it's not supported, I suppose that means I can't use it on my intel-based MacBook.
    Thanks for the help.

    Barbara---
I have had PE 4.0 running on my MacBook Pro 17" for about a year. Two days ago I tried launching PE 4.0 like normal and it fails. On the advice of Apple I tried creating a new account. The error message on install says a file is missing. It does not say which file. Installation continues until completed but PE 4.0 will not launch. I also trashed absolutely every Adobe file I could find, including preferences, repaired permissions, etc., reinstalled PE 4.0. Still no joy. I am running 10.4.9 with the last update about two weeks ago. PE 4.0 would lanuch and run fine until two days ago. Any suggestions?
    Thanks...

  • Photoshop Elements 12 will not restart after closing.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate.  If I close Photoshop Elements 12, it will not restart.
To get it to restart, I have to open the Windows Task Manager and then stop the process "PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe *32".
Once I stop this process, then Photoshop Elements 12 will restart.
Is there a know solution for this?

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor which will bypass the welcome screen.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    C: >> Program Files (x86) >> Adobe >> Photoshop Elements 12
Within the Photoshop Elements 12 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor (the application not the Adobe shortcut)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double-clicking on the new desktop icon and hopefully the application will close correctly.

  • Edit function of Photoshop Elements 8 will not launch, suggestions?

When the "edit" buttion is selected it simply times out/resets itself and will not launch the application however, the organizer still seems to be functioning.

If PSE8 uses an Unwelcome Screen, bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
    The Editor's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
    The Organizer's executable is:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 will not launch any longer in VISTA

I have had PSE 10 for a year or 2 and never had a problem.  It was working on Friday, had a Java Update, then on Saturday PSE will not launch in Vista.  We have recovered the computer to a previous date and that did not work.  We uninstalled PSE and reinstalled and still will not launch.  Need to know what the fix would be to correct this.
    Any help out there?
    Thanks, Dean

What isn't working? The welcome screen, the editor, the organizer? Can you launch either of the latter if you go into the program files and try directly from their .exe files?

  • Photoshop Elements 12 will  not launch

  • Photoshop Elements 8 will not launch

I have Photoshop Elements 8 on my Sony Vaio (windows 7 Home Premium 64bit). Whenever I launch it a License Agreement pops up and when I accept it
the software does not launch. There is no application open in my Task Manager.
I thought I would uninstall it and reinstall it but when I go to My Products page in Adobe I can see Photoshop Elements 8 as a
product in use but I cannot download it.
I installed Photoshop Elements 11 Trial version but have the same problem.
    Please help

If Organizer fails to launch, try following steps –
    - Delete the Organizer preferences. For that, go to Start>Run>Type %appdata%. In the launched folder, browse to Adobe>Elements Organizer>11.0>Organizer- Delete the file psa.prf and status.dat.
    - Try re-launcing Organizer.
    Or
It could be that your catalog got corrupted.
To fix that, hold down your Shift key while launching the Organizer. This would open up the Catalog Manager. Highlight your catalog at the bottom of the window, and choose "Repair" and then "Optimize".
If that does not work either, try renaming the following folders and then try launching the application again:-
    1) Online Services
    2) Elements Organizer
These folders are present at :- C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe.
Hope any of these work for you.

I have put in my 100% new copy of photoshop elements 12 serial number and when i go to log onto it, it says "trial has ended" and "buy now" seeing as how i already bought this i would like to know why i'm getting this, it won't let me launch the program i have already purchased. How does this even happen? i haven't even entered a trial period of any kind anyways... I want answers as i bought this to use it, not have issues.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 won't launch after installation

I get an error message that the application has been moved from it's original location, and needs some repairs, with an option to repair now or cancel, and when I click through to accept terms and use as a trial, it just disappears as if I never tried to open it.  Same with CS4 trial download.  I called Adobe, spent 2.5 hours on hold, then 2 hours doing various things which had no effect.  I called back today, and was on the phone for 2 hours, when I was disconnected, and wasn't called back, even though she REQUESTED my number for precisely that reason.  I'm trying to purchase an Adobe product, but if the trial won't work, then I'm not risking the money.
    Mac, snow leopard 10.6.2

I'm also on a Mac running 10.6.3 and Elements 8.
I think the installation process malfunctioned.  I'd COMPLETELY DELETE the Photoshop Elements 8 folder in the Applications folder and start the installation process again.
It's very easy to give a copy of an expensive application to a friend.  The application developers - like Adobe - don't like that because they don't make any money on the transaction.  They spent millions of dollars creating the application, so you really can't blame them.  So they all take creative steps to let an application determine if it is a genuine copy - or a bootleg copy.
One way to let the application determine if it is a genuine or bootleg copy is to create a hidden file in the application's folder.  The file is there, but you can't see it.  If you make a copy of everything in that application folder, you won't copy this hidden file because you can't see it.
The Mac's operating system file catalog knows this hidden file is there, because otherwise it might overwrite that unused hard disk space.  But it has been instructed not to tell you about the file's existence - and not to copy it with normal copy procedures.  Apple built this feature into the file catalog for its own use.  An important part of the operating system's files are kept invisible in the same way.  That prevents idiots from deleting important files - and engaging in do-it-yourself brain surgery.  So application developers use this feature for their own purposes.
Each time the application starts running, it checks to see if that hidden file still is there.  If the file isn't there, then the application refuses to run.  I'd suspect that in your case, the hidden file isn't there.  I think that is what the "application has been moved" warning is telling you.  They don't want the warning to be too specific because they don't want to tell the hackers of the world one of their security features.
There's no way you can re-create this hidden file - except to go through the installation process a second time.
Remember that all this is my supposition.  I know that some application developers use this technique.  I don't know that Adobe is using it.  But what you are seeing is consistent with the application realizing that something important is missing - and refusing to run.
