Photoshop Elements 13 (Mac) Organizer - Can't save file with version sets.
I have spent many hours now trying to get Elements Organizer to save Version Sets when I've edited a photo. I've tried more or less every little thing you can find online without any luck. But just moments ago I found that if I move the file to my desktop everything works just fine. I then tried to edit files in a few other folders (also imported to my Organizer) and found that when ever the folder was named to something with a nordic letter in it (å, ä, ö) then I couldn't save my file with version sets (option greyed out) but if I moved that same file to another folder, well then everything worked as it's suposed to.
I'm using the trial version of PSE 13 for Mac (Yosemite) and the full version is ordered and on it's way. But if this problem can't be fixed, I need to return that order and buy some other photo editing program.
Can anyone help me with this problem? Is there perhaps a solution to this?

I'm using the English version (as more or less always - Swedish is rarely an option). The thing is that I have never encountered this problem before in any other software I've been using, and certainly not in Aperture that I've been using up until now.
I name my photo folders with a date and a few words, for ex. "2014-12-31 New Years in Stockholm" (but I normally write in Swedish). I use this method so that my folder that contains the original photos will be easy to find in even without any other software than Finder (or Windows Explorer if I connect my external drive to a Windows machine). I could change the name of all of my folders, or at least all of the folders with a name containing one or more of the letters Å, Ä or Ö to "force" PSE to work as it should, but why? This really shouldn't be a problem.
I was hoping that their was a simple option or something like that that could fix this issue, but I guess not.
If this problem lies in the software itself I will have to return it and look elsewhere (but where? Lightroom is certainly not an option if Adobe can't handle "normal" letters and Aperture is discontinued in a few months).

I have a new MacBook Air with Yosemite (no CD/DVD capacity). I want to install Photoshop Elements 6. Can I do this with the serial number? If pse 6 is not compatible, can I upgrade to pse 7. I do not need pse 12 or 13
I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this. You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts. Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.

Can't save file with futura font?
Hi
I'm having a problem saving a file that contains the futura font. This is a font my company had to buy. I never had a problem with CS1 or CS2 using this font.
Once I place the font in the document it will let me save it once. After making changes and trying to save again I get a window that simply says "can't save file". I've tried unchecking the pdf compatible option and the compression option with no change.
I found one thread on this site about clearing out the font cache (by deleting the file C:\windows\system32\FNTCACHE.dat) and that didn't make a difference.
When I'm done with the document I'll be converting the text to outlines but I need a fix will I'm working on the doc.

Glad you got it sorted out. After I sent you back the regenerated fonts, I discovered something which I'm posting here for everyone's benefit.
Myle nailed it when he suggested an "an issue with font embedding." The fonts you sent me were all embedding-restricted. It's possible you could have saved your documents had you turned off the PDF compatibility option, but it's moot now.
It's doubtful the fonts I regenerated for you will solve the problem because putting them through my font editor did not remove the embedding restriction. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that your replacement fonts do not have embedding restriction.
To check for the embedding restriction, you don't need a fancy program. Just download this Windows extension from Microsoft and install it. Then, right-click | Properties on any font file will give you a lot more information about that font, including licensing/embedding restrictions. -
Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer failed during folder / file move
I have a large image collection, in excess of 40,000. I'm running on a PC with Windows 7 and all updates installed. I just purchased PSE 11 to replace PSE 10. After installing PSE 11 I converted my catalog. That seemed to go OK. At that point I discovered that my C: drive was almost full so I decided to move my image collection from its C: drive location to an external hard drive that had sufficient capacity. In order to ensure the integrity of the catalog I decided that I should use the PSE 11 Organizer to move the files. This would allow the Organizer to update the location information for the files as it moved them, although it was clear that this would take many hours to complete. So, using Organizer I did a "drag and drop" of my image collection's root file from the C: location to the external drive which happened to be the J: drive. Organizer appeared to be running properly so I left it to continue overnight. The next morning I discovered that only about 2/3 of the files had been moved. There was a very cryptic message that said the opertion could not be completed because of "...possibly unsupported files types, files with read only attributes.." etc. I did not write down the actual message and it did not tell me where in the transfer the failure occurred. After doing some detective work I discovered that many folders and files had been copied to the J: drive that were not appearing in the Organizer catalog and consequently were not being displayed. Some folders had only a portion of their files copied. Fortunately, the files were still visible and cataloged on the C: drive. I did look at my files on the C: drive and there were some that for what ever reason had read only attributes.
I don't have a good guess as to what was actually the root cause of the problem, but here's how I think the file movement should happen. The selected file, files, or folders should be copied to the specified destination. At that point they should be added to the catalog, then the files should be deleted from their original location and the catalog updated accordingly. If an original file is read only then it can't be deleted but the attempt to delete it should be reported as an inability to delete with no consequences imposed on the files that have been placed in their new location. The "problem" should not be promoted to the status of a serious or fatal error that causes only partial completion of the overall operation.Bill Junk wrote:

I am not sure about the details of your case, but I understand you have restored exactly the same tree structure in a new J: drive. Your catalog is always accessible in its original location.
In that case it's possible to simply create a copy of your catalog (a simple copy of the folder containing the database catalog.pseXXdb - to be found in the help menu, system info). Then you need a sqlite database management tool (I use the add-on sqlite manager in Firefox) to simply edit a single record in a table containing the identification of all drives known to the catalog. You simply edit the letter and the serial number of the drive (DOS command VOL:).
I had a case where I had a catalog and all the media on an external drive. That external drive was assigned a different letter in different computers. Either I used the above solution, or I had to reassign drive letters in one of the computers. -
Does anyone know why I am unable to open psa files with elements 13. I read on the internet that elements was the software that I needed. However, it does not work. The files are coming from space planning software.
In older versions of Elements PSA files were associated with Photoshop Album which has now been replaced by the Organizer. Elements has no 3d functionality for supporting space planning files but these files can normally be exported or saved by the originator as a bitmap or pdf file. Those could then be opened in PSE. I suggest you explore the possibilities of file conversion with your original source.

Anyone know how to specify NOT to import mp3's wav's etc, when using the Search function?

Photoshop Elements 4.0 won't save changes for IPhoto 6.0.2.
At some point following installation of IPhoto 6.0.2, a problem appeared during editing photos with IPhoto preferences set for opening in Photoshop Elements 4.0: When I hit "save", the following dialog box appears: "could not build a preview because of a program error." My edited changes are lost and don't appear back into IPhoto. (On force-quitting PhotoShop Elements, I now CAN properly save the changes back to IPhoto.) Or sometimes Photoshop Elements “unexpectedly quits” during the editing attempt.
The problem was not solved by reinstalling Photoshop Elements 4 and is similar on two different computers (IMac G4 and PowerBook G4).
I assume the problem resides with IPhoto (presumably v 6.0.2), not Photoshop Elements. Even though I have my IPhoto Library backed up on a Lacie external hard drive, I've hesitated tweaking my IPhoto program (such as to ditch preferences or reinstall).
Any suggestions?

The answer does seem to have been found in the Adobe forum you suggested: It suggests going to user>library>preferences folder and delete Adobe Save for Web prefs. A friend also suggested saving Photoshop Elements edited changes by using "save as" as opposed to "save" which gives another (slightly tedious) fix that translates back to IPhoto.

Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer for Mac crashes
I have Photoshop Elements 9 installed on my Mac. It worked just fine till a few days ago after I did some weeding of duplicates. Since then, whenever I try opening it it closes when the credits page appears. I get a message, which I don't understand. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program but it still crashes immediately. I don't know what to do? Here's the error message:

What he did was delete PSE9 from my computer including all the files that are located elsewhere, i.e. in the library. After everything was gone we reloaded it and I now it works. I can't tell you where all the files are -- but I do know a lot of them were in the Library folder.

I can’t move the whole down or to the right.
I only can pull on the right corner beneath, but the top and the left stays on top and left.

What do you mean? Can you explain in more detail or post a screenshot? Do you mean the top of the window is caught under the menubar at the very top of the screen or that you can't see the one with File, Edit, etc?

Photoshop Elements 10 Organizer not writing metadata to files
Trying to use Photoshop Elements 10 Organizer to update date taken and add tags to picture files. Organizer is supposed to write/update the original file properties with this updated/new metadata, however, it seems to be pretty haphazard. I've tried selecting pictures and using the menu option to "Write keyword tag and properties info to photo" (CRTL + W). It processes and states it is updating the files, however, after it completes, you can access the source file in Windows Explorer and view properties but none of the changes (date info or tags) has been updated in the file.
Adobe support has been not been helpful simply pointing me to a knowledge article on metadata which basically tells you to use the same commands I'm already performing. Posting here to see if anyone has other suggestions.Hey,
There are various date/time fields shown in properties panel in Organizer. The dates mentioned in general section are read from OS whereas the dates in EXIF field are read from image's EXIF data. In EXIF data there are three date/time fields-
1. Date time- This date/time info shows date modified of EXIF properties. So when you are writing a tag into imags's IPTC, you are doing some change in EXIF data. Hence this date should change to date when you are writing a tag into IPTC.
2. Date time original - Represents date time when a image was shoot.
3. Date digitized - Represents the date when the image was digitized (in digital camers there is hardly some delay between an image is shoot and it is digitized. So this field is always same as date original).
So, in your scenario, Date time in EXIF should change whenever you are writing any tag into its IPTC.

Due to Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer I uninstalled the program. When I re-installed Photoshop Elements 12 on the same computer the "Photoshop Elements 12.0.exe" file is not available. I have tried loading Photoshop Elements 12 from the Adobe web site without success.
The Elements 12 shortcut can't find the Elements12.0.exe file so the program will not load. I can load the editor from its .exe file but not the organizer.

I can not get my Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 organize to open. The edit option comes up with no problem, but will crash when I try to access organize. What should I do to fix this problem?

Which operating system are you running on?
Try starting the organizer while holding down the shift key. Hopefully, it should load the Catalog Manager.
Select your current catalog and click on the Repair button. Once it has finished, click on the Open button to see if the catalog opens.

Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing m2ts files
When I import my collection of images and videos using "Import / From file and folders...", Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer crashes when importing one of my .m2ts files. When I debug it I get:
Unhandled exception at 0x1543025B (mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax) in PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe: 0xC0000094: Integer division by zero.
Is there a way for me to import m2ts files successfully? If not, then is there a way to skip importing these files.I do not have any version of Premiere Elements installed.
I never removed any files. This is a clean installation from a couple months ago when I got my new hard drive.
That file is located at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\mc_codecs\mc_demux_mp2_ds.ax":
