Photoshop Elements 2.0 launches Script Editor

When launching Photoshop Elements 2.0 today, the icon in the dock changed to a blank file icon and the Script Editor launched. The icon in the application folder did the same.
I trashed the Elements application folder and reinstalled with the same result, three times.
I repaired Permissions and restarted before and after installing.
I have launched every other application on the machine without incident, so it seems confined to Photoshop.
The same thing happened to the backup copy of Elements on the external drive connected to this machine.
The only change since last using Elements successfully is the installation of Machacha, which splits and joins video files. I also trashed it as part of my recovery effort, to no avail.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes out of the blue, for no evident reason, Finder/LaunchServices stops recognizing programs that end with a dot and a number as programs. I suppose one could try to discover why, and fix it, or you can just use GetInfo to change the application name from "Photoshop Elements 2.0" to "Photoshop Elements2.app"--which is easy to do and so far has always worked.

  • Links to launch Script Editor no longer work

Links to launch Script Editor no longer work.

I don't know, I just use a very simple Applescript to enclose the clipboard in tags that allow the user to launch Script Editor from the browser:
set the clipboard to "<a href=applescript://com.apple.scripteditor?action=new>Click here to launch Script Editor</a>.
    <pre class=COMMAND>" & return & (the clipboard) & return & "</pre>"
And it wraps the script on the clipboard on PRE tags so the structure is preserved. Neither of those work now.

  • Installer launches Script Editor

I am trying to reinstall After Effects and the installer only launches Script Editor. same thing happened when I tried to install a printer package.
This is really frustrating, any help would be gladly received.

I am not familiar with this software. Is the installer an installer package (ie. does it have an icon that looks like an open cardboard box)?
If not, the installer for this software may be a self contained application which may have incorrectly become associated with "Script Editor.app". Unsetting this association can be accomplished by resetting the "Launch Services" database one way or another, but as a short term workaround, try adding the extension ".app" to the installer to see if it will run.
If the installer has the icon as described above, ignore the previous paragraph.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 crashes immediately after editor is launched

I have just purchased Adobe photoshop elements and Premier 12. After my first elements install, I was able to load the Organiser, but the editor crashes immediately after loading. I uninstalled, deleted all adobe folders and files, and re-installed, only to find the same problem again. The editor crashes regardless of whether I load it from the flash screen on launch or from within the organiser.

Can you go to this folder and try launching directly from the executable:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12
Make sure you choose the application. Right-click on PhotoshopElementsEditor and choose "Run As Administrator"

  • PhotoShop Elements does not launch

I purchased PhotoShop Elements; did not download the trail version.  It worked nice; I liked it.  I then had to do a system restore unrelated to Photoshop.  Afterwards, I re-installed PhotoShop.  When I launch PhotoShop I have the option to select the Organizer or Photo Editor.  I can't launch either; a message appears that says my trial has expired.  I have spent 3 hours with Adobe tech support and they could not get it to work.  I was told if I still had the issue, call tech support again...this isn't exactly tech support.  They also told me that re-installing this software will cause it to NOT launch.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Maybe someone out there has and found a solution that will work for me.  Thanks!

  • My new photoshop elements 13 wont launch. HELP!!!!

I recently installed elements 13 on my computer and when I try to launch it, it asks me to sign in, then asks me to agree to the terms, and then when I click agree it disappears and nothing happens. I cannot get it to launch. Please help!

    Hi,
Please try out following steps and see if it helps:
Enable the (Hidden) Administrator account on your computer. See Administrator account for more information.
Sign out of your current user account and log in as the Administrator.
Launch Photoshop Elements Editor and log in from the sign-in screen, using your Adobe ID.
If the editor launches successfully, disable the (Hidden) Administrator account you created in Step 1. See Administrator account for more information on disabling an account.

  • Using photoshop elements 9 as an external editor - after saving in Photoshop the results do not display in Aperture

I set up my external editor as Photoshop Elements 9, I follow the instructions to edit a selected image in the external editor. When finished editing in Photoshop, I hit Save (not Save As), and go back to Aperture, and the work I did in Photoshop does not display in Aperture. Is there anything else I need to do to make the work I did in Photoshop display in Aperture?

I had the same problem with PSE 10, and this soution worked for me.  Thanks.  But is this the real answer?  Isn't there a way to save the file without having to add an "f" to the suffix?  It doesn't seem to make sense to me.  Is it an Aperture problem or PSE?  I went to the Apple store amnd the so-called aperture/photoshop expert spent an hour trying to figure it out and finally got the answer by reading this post!!!

  • I can't get Adobe photoshop elements 12 to launch. Error 0xc000007b

Hello if someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. I've recently installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 12. But I am yet to get the software to start, instead I get the following message:
'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.'
I've looked on various forums but none of the suggested solutions have worked. I've also unistalled and reintalled photoshop to no avail. The computer does not freeze when I get the message.
Does anyone have a fail safe suggestion, other than reinstalling the operating system (Windows 8)?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Try creating shortcuts direct to the applications and use them each time.
Create shortcuts pointing to the following files:-
    Organizer: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
    Editor: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
Please let us know if they work.
    Good luck

  • Photoshop Elements 6 stops launching

Windows XP Pro, SP2 and all updates.
Elements 6 stops launching: cannot find a connection to any other task that I am doing.
The only method to operate normally is to use install disk and do the "repair process". The program will not start to operate normally: until the next time that it becomes unresponsive.
Have tried complete uninstall and reinstall. After reinstall, Elements operated normally for about 1 month and then stopped responding to program launch.
Tried going directly to the program folder and launching the program.EXE file directly: no change.
Searched the previous responses but they seem to focus on Vista or a Bundled software package.

Your suggestion, I had found this earlier, only addresses Vista so I assumed that it did not apply to XP Pro.
    Answers to your questions:
    1.
After repairing the program, using the install CD, the program launches into the Welcome Screen. Prior to the most recent repair, when the program did launch, it loaded directly into the editor portion.
    2.
When the program launch cycle is NOT performing, there is a short (a second or two) duration "spinning of the cursor" and then nothing. No display is presented and the system goes back to, in this case, the Desktop as if nothing had been requested.
    3.
I will definitely check Explorer for any processes after the launch attempt if the attempt is a failure. Sadly, for troubleshooting purposes, this is a periodic issue.
I can use the program, or at least launch it, every day or several times a day, without an issue and then for some unknown reason, the launch will be non responsive.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 crashes after opening editor

Photoshop Elements 8's editor worked wonderful the first probably 30 times I used it.  Then the program started crashing immediately every time the editor was opened.  Has anyone experienced this and or know of a fix?

Are you using the 30 day trial version??? It will automaticly close if it's beyond the 30 day period.
Assuming that you have the full version instead.  There are several possibilities.  The obvious thing is to go through the troubleshooting steps.  Beyond that:  Everything below assumes that you are using some verision of Windows (XP or newer)
A> Have you recently installed ANYTHING, windows updates, driver updates, browser updates, any programs at all, even anti-virus updates?  Even the smallest update can have undesired effects on installed progams.
B> Try opening the editor directly, bypassing the welcome screen to do this use the "Run" option from your start menu & "Browse" for the PSE 8 folder.  For XP that would be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0 may be different in Vista or Windows 7 RC1.  Then select "PhotoshopElementsEditor"  I've had problems in XP using the start menu or desktop shortcut which both start with the welcome screen which I both hate & don't need...
If troubleshooting & opening the Editor directly don't help & you haven't installed ANYTHING since it started crashing, then you may have a hardware problem.
These may be covered in the troubleshooting section, I haven't checked...
Most obvious is a Hard Drive issue.  To check it out, you need to find out who manufactures your hard drive (Western Digital, Seagate, etc...), then go to their website & download their drive diagnostic tool.  These tools are specific to a manufacturers drive, in other words, you shouldn't use a Western Digital diagnostic tool on a Seagate hard drive, it may work but it won't be 100% accurate & may cause data corruption.  After running the diagnostics, if your hard drive checks out okay, you may want to run a check disk... from Start Menu again use the "run" option, but this time type cmd & hit enter.  In the window that pops up type cd\ & hit enter. then type chkdsk /r it should then tell you that Chkdsk cannot run.... checked the next tiem the system restarts? <Y/N>  type Y then hit enter, then type exit & hit enter, & finally restart your computer.  FYI, the /r flag tells chkdsk to attempt to fix any errors that it finds & recover any data that it can recover.
Secondary is RAM, though if you're ONLY having problems with PSE 8, RAM is not as likely as a hard drive problem but still possible.  You can use Microsoft's Memory Diagnostic tool to check our your RAM. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.09.utilityspotlight.aspx

  • Problem setting PhotoShop Elements 11 as default ext editor

Don't know what I am doing wrong or not doing.
I had previously used Pixelmator as my ext editor, but have now installed PhotoShop Elements 11, and wish it to be the default exterior editor.
    I have restarted the computer.
PhotoShop Elements does not show up in the toggle choice under iPhoto Preferences>Advanced -- only iPhoto and Pixelmator.
    Suggestions? Thanks!

Select Pixelmator again and you'll be asked to select the app of your choice again.  If you use iPhoto more than PSE 11 when you've selected PSE 11 you can reselect iPhoto. That will set iPhoto as the defauilt editor but let you use PSE 11 by control clicking on the thumbnail and selecting Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu.
This may also be of interest to you:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE reselect iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 wont launch

I have installed photoshop elements 11 from disk, but it will not launch. I open it and nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but no change. I have run as operator and I have troubleshoot compatibility issues the only clue I got was no Gdiplus.dll file, but there is a file of this name in the elements 11 folder. I am running Windows 7.
    Can anyone help?

It's a windows file having to do with graphics rendering. There are several places to download it online but since I don't know which are legit I'm not going to link to any.

  • Newly installed Photoshop Elements 3 not launching - help!

    Hi there,
just installed Photoshop Elements 3 on the new G5 iMac - both bought a couple of weeks ago from Apple store on-line.
Installation of PE3 seemed to go ok.
But double-clicking the application makes it blink a couple of times in the dock, and then nothing. Tried removing and re-installing a few times..but the application never launches. Any thoughts as to what I can do to fix this?
Is this an issue with Tiger or with PE3? Or incompabability between the two?
    Any help would be appreciated!

    iMac G5 20" 2.1Ghz 1.5Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi there,
I recently transferred my old files + apps across using migration assistant from the old iMac (which had been running OS X 2.8 Jaguar). When I first tried to install PE3, immediately after insertion of the disc, a Norton anti-virus disc checking screen came up and tried to check the disc. I cancelled the scan, and carried on the installation. When PE3 wouldn't launch, I figured it might be something to do with the anti-virus software. The Norton stuff was installed on my old machine - but I didn't want to use it for the new mac as I heard bad things about it. I couldn't figure out how to remove all the Norton software, until I came across some good advice in another area of the discussions. I have now successfully removed all Norton files from the iMac. However, despite trashing the PE3 app that wouldn't launch, and then installing it again, I still can't get PE3 to actually launch. Neither from the dock, nor from the applications folder. It just moves up and down once in the dock, and then does nothing. Deleting from the dock, and then launching from applications, the same thing happens, the PE3 symbol appears in the dock, moves up and down once, but then disappears.
Very frustrating. I know the application works well with Tiger, as I've seen it in the Apple store in London... so there must be something I'm doing wrong...
    any more thoughts?
