Photoshop Elements 3 trashing pictures

Hi everyone,
I have been using Photoshop elements 3 on my G4 as shown below. It works fine and does exactly what I want except when I quit Photoshop it puts up all the pictures I have processed and I have to click Do not save for each of them. Is there an easier or quicker way of doing this.

Hello Barbara,
Thanks for your reply.
PE is working fine except when I have finished working on my pictures and saved the results to where I want them and then click on Quit PE because I have finished, all the original pictures appear in the Quickfix work space one at a time and I have to click Do Not Save on each one until the work space is clear and then it quits. This is annoying if I have worked on 50 pictures. Is there some way that when I have finished with each picture the original can be deleted or I can delete the lot at once at the end.
Regards from England,
Alan

You have two ways to use PSE with iphoto:
    1. Set PSE as your external editor for iphoto and send the photos from iphoto. Make your edits, then Save, not Save As without changing the name or format, and iphoto will remember your last edited version plus the original, but you'll have to lose the edits to see the original again. You will probably need to set the Editor preferences>Saving Files>On First Save to save over original to make this work, and it doesn't work with raw files.
    2. Export the photos from iphoto, use File>Open in the Editor, then make any changes you like to the name or format, and import the edited image back to iphoto as a new file.

  • Photoshop Elements Printing Pictures

How do I print several pictures on a sheet of paper each of which is a different size? I find that I get squeezed into the size presets in the dialogue box. I have looked all over to no avail.

If you're going to be doing many prints of the same format you can make your own templates for use with the Picture Package (although you don't state which version of Elements you have).
Take a look at the 'readme.txt' file in folder below - assuming you have a Windows machine.

Since we can't see your computer screen from here, you'll have to tell us in detail (step-by-step) what you're trying to do and what is happening.

  • IPhoto 11 pictures won't open in Photoshop Elements  10

In previous versions of Photoshop Elements a picture in iPhoto would open automatically when edit was selected. This doesn't happen in Photoshop Elements 10. The only solution offered by Photoshop Elements is to use the Organizer to "get photos from iPhoto." I don't want to import all of my photos into Elements, just edit them on an individual basis. Can anyone help.

Thanks again for Adobe link and help.
Selecting Edit in iPhoto did bring up the PSE 10 Editor for me, so that did not seem to be my problem. Still no image appeared. Not exactly sure what I did to cause it, but PSE App suddenly quit and said it needed to be reinstalled. Prior to reinstalling, I looked over the Read Me file and saw that virus protection should be disabled which I had not done before. After disabling Norton Utilities and reinstalling PSE 10, I was able to open and edit my iPhotos in PSE 10 just as I was able to do in previous PSE versions. So problem solved.
There was a peculiarity I should let you know, when I was having my problem. Two like Icons for PSE 10 showed up in my Dock when I called up the PSE external editor from iPhoto.
    Again, thanks for your help.

  • Unable to View .mod files in Photoshop Elements 11, can see they are there but no picture, I import them into Premiere and all OK ?

I have hundreds of .mod files which are supported but I am unable to view them on my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. I cant see the picture icons as pictures or see the vision when i select them? I am running the latest Windows 8.1 PC with heaps of Ram and memory. If I import the files into Premiere they play fine?

    Thanks Curt and 'Mylenium'
I did re-set the prefs - but to no avail
I checked and my graphics driver and audio is all up to date.
No sure how to verify Windows Media Player's hardware acceleration options. I opened WMP Options /Perfformance tab and under Cd the DirX tab is checked.
Running Windows Vista - so does the same caution apply regarding a re-install of Windows Media Components and DirectX ?
Appreciate your help with this somewhat frustrating issue. I am converting some old 8mm film to avi with the hope of doing some edits then burning to DVD.

  • When I click on a picture, Photoshop Elements 12 does not automatically open.

When I click on a picture, Photoshop Elements 12 does not automatically open (as it did when I used previous versions Photoshop Elements 4 and 9).  I can't even right-click (Windows) on the picture and choose Open With and specifiy Photoshop Elements 12.  I have called Adobe several times (Case No. 185140584) and they keep saying it has been sent up to senior management and they will call me back with a solution - but to no avail!  No return calls and I still can't really use the Product I paid for and downloaded.  The only way I can open up a picture to edit it is to open Photoshop Elements 12 and then then click "Open" and then search for the picture on my hard drive (which takes a lot more time!  I did not experience this difficulty at all with versions 4 or 9!

    Hi,
You failed to say which Windows system you have - I can get the "Open With" to work on my Windows 7 64bit system.
When you try to set up the "Open With", are you setting the correct target program?
It's the green one (not the red one) in the above image.
Once you have selected that program, make sure you set it as default so that a double click will open the photo in the editor.
    Good luck

Question???  When I open up an album in Photoshop Elements and then click on a picture to upsize it, it comes up blurry.  I'm using a Mac.

Make sure Readr is closed. Go to the Applications form, look for the Adobe Reader icon, double click on it, and follow the lead. Restart Reader when finished.

I have just installed Photoshop Elements for a MAC. MY photos were in iPhoto, I have 47,000 pictures and my drive on my Mac laptop is not large enough. I store my photos in iPhoto on an external drive. Can I store all my photos on an external drive when using Photoshop Elements? If so, in what format should they be stored in? I do I move them from iPhoto to the new storage location? How do I call them up in organizer? And how do I call them up to Edit? I do not want to store any pictures on my Apple Mac laptop. I want to store pictures on several external devices.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

I am using Photoshop Elements 11.  Do all .jpg formatted file have to be retangular in shape?  I want to create an oval .jpg picture to insert into a book.  Haven't been able to do so.  It would work if I could make the area outside the oval completely transparent.  Can anyone help me here?

JPG does not support transparency, so even if you create an oval with transparent background, the saved JPG will have white background. Instead, save it as a PNG, TIFF, or GIF which preserve the transparency.
Here is one of many ways to create your oval:
Create a new file the approximate size of the oval. Add the oval with the Custom Shape Ellipse tool, and simplify the shape layer.
In the Layers Palette, Ctrl-click the oval to select it and copy the selection to the clipboard (Edit > Copy).
Then do File > New from Clipboard. This creates the oval with transparent background cropped to the oval size.
Then save it as one of the file types that support transparency (and also supported by the application where you are sending the picture to).
Note:  Is is not even necessary to do step 2. That is only if some reason you want the oval to be tightly cropped. It is sufficient to delete the Background layer in step 1 (or turn off its visibility) and save the file. The oval will appear correctly in the book with either version.

Adobe now hides the editor - what looks like it is not - you want the editor hidden in the support folder - see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3955558#3955558 for details

  • How can I edit a photo in Photoshop Elements and have the edit appear in Windows 7, My Pictures?

In Windows XP Pro, any edit I made to a photo in Photoshop Elements 10 appeared automatically in that photo in My Pictures.   This does not happen in my new Windows 7 computer.  Can I change that and have the edit from PE10 appear in My Documents/My Pictures?

    When you finish editing choose:
    File >> Save As
Then choose a file name and folder and save.

I have extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the ZIP file and move Camera Raw.8bi into \Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Format.
Now, there is no problem for editing files.cr2
