Photoshop Elements 4.0 greeting card Question

I am working with windows xp, and am using the trial version to see if I like it, and was creating a greeting card with a photo on the front, but could not resize it. It gave me a nice size picture with a very generous border around it. Any suggestions, other than buy the product, which I may well do.
Also, while I have your attention does PSE 4 convert Nikon D50 raw files

Best advice: get a real greeting card program, like American Greetings CreataCard, for making cards, but keep your image editor for editing images.

Confusion probably exists because your question is not being understood correctly because more details are needed from you.
Is your problem in the Elements Organizer 13 and not in the Photoshop Elements 13 Editor or Premiere Elements 13 Editor?
And, are you using the tryout of the program rather than the purchased program? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on
your computer with Premiere Elements 13?
Certain files have problems importing into the Elements Organizer whereas they do not if they are imported directly into the Premiere Elements Editor.
1. It is a known that Elements Organizer 13 tryout has problems with MPEG2 files.
2. What are the properties of your problem file - video compression, audio compression, and file extension? In some cases, you can rename the file's file extension to gain success in getting the file into the Elements Organizer with the thumbnail with image..
3. Does the file present with a thumbnail (gray or otherwise) in the Elements Organizer 13? And, can you right click that thumnbail and select Update Thumbnail to gain success?
Keep in mind that Photoshop Elements 13, Premiere Elements 13, and Elements Organizer 13 are really different programs.
Photoshop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone programs, each coming with the Elements Organizer 13. When
Photoshop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 are on the same computer, they share the same Elements Organizer 13.
Please review and consider the above. We will be watching for your answers to all so that we can customize a possible solution for you. In the
case of the Elements Organizer and the thumbnails for files imported into it, there may be no answer. And, in nearly all instances, it is
not a case of a missing codec.

Photoshop Elements 10 - Create Greetings Card

I have just loaded Elements 10 and when first going to create a Greetings card I get Options for paper size to Print Locally, Kodak and ShutterFly.
Choose Print Locally and save the file amd close PSE10.
When reopening PSE10 and Creating a new Greetings card, the Kadak and Shutterfly options are no longer available!
Do I have an issue with my copy of PSE10?

I am not sure whether this is issue with your machine or may be your PSE10 is not correcty installed.
you can do two thngs .....
1. Relaunch you PSE10 with hliding Shift+Alt+Control key combination on you window machine (command+Option+Shift for MAC) untill you get following window
DELETE SETTINGS AND USE IT AGAIN.
2. If still the prob;em persist reinstall the application.

Photoshop Elements 10 Greeting Cards

I have tried and tried to print a greeting card locally (i.e. on my home printer) using Photoshop Elements 10. I have searched the forums and found suggestions to save and reopen to print, but it doesn't work for me. I can't believe Photoshop has had this problem for so long and never fixed it. I bought PSE10 a month before 11 came out and when I try to contact support, they refuse, telling me support only applies to 11. I have searched, phoned, chatted, and experimented for hours, only to tell me that for another $29 Adobe will discuss the issue with me. Incredible. When I click the menu to create a greeting card, it gives me size options for Shutterfly, nothing for local printing. And if I click PRINT, it doesn't work - it prints the card out on four separate sheets of paper, no matter what settings I try to change.
I finally insisted on speaking with a Supervisor, named Fhekhar, who sounded more accomodating after a long wait on hold. They sent me an email with link to solve the problem without charge. It directed me to http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/create-greeting-card.html, which I had already found. It doesn't help at all. But it too suggests you can print locally - it just doesn't tell you how. They also sent a link to A Photoshop Elements 9 video tutorial for printing greeting cards. http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-photoshop-elements-9/creating-greeting-cards/ which I have also found before - and again not helpful. It goes all the way up to the actual printing, but stops there and doesn't show you how!
Photoshop Elements 10 will allow you to print greeting cards on Shutterfly. I do not want to pay for printing on Shutterfly - that's why I have cardstock, an expensive photo program and a printer!

I have used Greeting Card Factory and it's an inexpensive excellent program, but there is no need to purchase it.
I made my greeting cards from scratch. I don't bother with the templates provided with PSE.
For fold-over cards, I make two projects.
Start with a document size before folding. i.e. - 8.5x5.5 card needs to start with a 8.5x11 document.
Document one is the front and back of the card. Note, the front graphic needs to be on the bottom of document one. Anything for the back needs to be upside down and near the top of the document.
Document two is the inside. Again, the verse needs to be on the bottom half of the document.
I save them as jpgs and print document one on the first side
Reinsert the cardstock, print document two on the other side.
When printing - the only thing that is tricky is making sure you re-insert the cardstock in the right direction.
I have found it much easier to do things my own way rather than work within the confines of PSE's templates.

How do I create a greeting card using PSE 9?

I just purchased and installed PSE 9 for the express purpose of creating personalized greeting cards. All of the promotional material indicates that I should be able to do this with PSE 9. However, when I try to create a card, I get a message saying that this feature is only available to "Plus" members! Is all of the promotional material (online and offline) in error or is this a new requirement that is not yet documented?

Just user to user....based on past and current history, Adobe Tech Support is not going to help you with a technical issue which is preventing you from using your purchased serial number for Photoshop Elements. Version 12 is not the current version. And, the Adobe Tech Support is limited even for the current version which is 13. If this matter involves a purchased activated serial number trapped on a crashed computer while you are trying to install on a 3rd computer, then probably Adobe Chat Activation can be of assistance. If that is the case and you want to explore that possibility, then click on the following link

Installing Photoshop Elements 10 as an upgrade

I recenlty purchased Photoshop Elements 10 as an upgrade to an older version.It is plainly stated on the box that "you will need a licensed copy of any version of Adobe Photoshop Elements." Somewhere on the Internet I saw that it would be necessary to have your old registration number. The upgrade version is $20 cheaper than the new version.
When I installed the upgrade, nowhere did it ask for my old registration number.
So my first question is did I get the full version of Photoshop Elements 10?
My second question is why the difference in price between these two versions if an older registration number is not necessary to install the program?
Tech support was no hope with these questions.

Well, I think it strange that Adobe doesn’t care if I had a previous version. It sounds like a rip off to me, not for me but for the guy who pays the full price. . And tech support could have cared less.
And, yes, it works, but what a shock! Not at all user friendly like the previous version I have.

"Edit in Photoshop Elements" an Option in Development Module?

In viewing the tutorials for Lightroom (while considering whether to purchase it), I noted that there was integration with PS CS2 (and soon, CS3) and that it works like this: In the "Develop" module select "Photo," then "Edit in Photoshop CS2;" the key here is that once editing in CS2 is complete the saved edits are automatically incorporated back into the Lightroom Library. Because I don't have, and may never need, CS2 (or CS3) along with Lightroom (if I get it) I'd hope that the exact same integration is possible with Photoshop Elements 5. So my question is simple: If PSE 5 is installed along with Lightroom will "Develop" and "Photo" include an option for "Edit in Photoshop Elements 5" and have the same automatic integration with the Lightroom Library? (Or, if PSE 5 is not a listed option but is accessible through the "edit with other" option, will the saved file still be integrated automatically into the Lightroom Library?)

I had a demo copy of elements on my system when I installed the beta version of LR. Along side that I had my old and trusty PS 7.LR found PS7
and I set up Elements as a second option for editing. I bought LR and installed it over the beta version.From then on I was given the option to import from Elements in the file menu.PS7 was greyed outwhen I checked to see if I could still edit under PS7.
The demo of Elements expired so I uninstalled it.LR still offers me the option to import from Elements. I have tried the registry hack and all looks well but it is still grayed out in LR and it still "sees" a program which is no longer on my system. I have had a good look around the system including the registry for remnants of Elements that might still be around but cant see any.
Anyway it seems to me that LR can find Elements if it wants to even if it isnt't there and as I have said elsewhere on this forum, why do we have to hack the registry to get some parts this program to work? Adobe need to sort this and all the other bugs out. They owe it to all of us who have paid good money to them for what seems to be a poorly finished product.

Adding cookie cutter shapes to Photoshop Elements 7.0

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0, and I was wondering if there was a way to add cookie cutter shapes to the images the program already comes with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In addition to suggesting that David post the Photoshop Elements part of his upgrade question on this forum, I had posted some comments in his original thread over on the Premiere Elements forum. I will repeat those comments here so that others on this forum can make comments against my recommendations.
In general I think that your PSE 3 tags and collections will be carried forward when your catalog is upgraded from PSE 3 to PSE 7. What were "Collections" in PSE 3 will become "Albums" in PSE 7.
Now it is very important that in the PSE 3 Organizer BEFORE your catalog is upgraded, you do
-- Reconnect All Missing Files
-- Catalog Recover
These commands are available from the File menu of the PSE 3 Organizer. They "clean up" your existing PSE 3 catalog and a clean catalog can avoid many potential problems during the upgrade process.
You did not ask about any "Creations" in PSE 3 and I do not think the Creations (Slide Show or Photo Book is an example of a creation) will carry forward from PSE 3 to PSE 7. So it is good if the info that you do need is the PSE 3 Collection rather than a PSE 3 Creation.

The 2 I suggested above are on that list.
Be aware that the format and folder locations of the PSE catalog changed significantly between PSE 5 and PSE 6 (the 1st techdoc discuses this), so as you are migrating from PSE 3 to PSE 7 there will be some difference and how much you notice differences may depend on how deep you went in to PSE 3. The second techdoc, which discusses placing the PSE catalog in a non-standard folder location is one example of such a case. I say this not to scare you, but instead to make you aware of the potential for differences if there is initially a glitch in the upgrade process on your system.

Après avoir réinstallé mon système d’exploitation (Windows 7 Pro 64 bits), j’ai réinstallé Photoshop Elements 12, or je constate que je ne peux plus me servir du logiciel si je ne suis pas connecté à Internet. C’est extrêmement frustrant. Je ne comprends pas, car ce n’était pas comme cela auparavant et avec la même version de Photoshop Element 12. Est-ce que c’est normal ? Comment faire pour travailler sans se connecter à Internet ? Aussi depuis cette réinstallation et la dernière mise à jour, les menus déroulants des outils (par exemples «Forme impressionniste» ou autres) s’affichent momentanément pour disparaître aussitôt, sans me laisser le temps de choisir un des éléments de la liste. Pouvez-vous m’aider ?
