Photoshop elements 4.0 won't work
Adobe photoshop 4.0 won't work. After installing a hp scanner, I upgraded a driver for it and had problems. So I did a system restore for oct 2009 and now photoshop won't work.I fully uninstalled all my adobe programs except active x then reinstalled photoshop elements. I have had a series of errors including "error reading configuration file" and "adobe help cannot start model effor subsystem 1" I searched this and found the updated help file and installed that. So once I open adobe, i can pull a picture into it then it won't work. Every button I press just gives a ding sound.
You mean to say you are able to run but when you try opening any image it crashes. Can you try resetting the preferences:
Click on the EDITOR icon -- the quickly hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT keys, this will generate a dialogue box to delete settings.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 won't work on newer Mac OSX
I use a MacBookPro and when I finally upgraded my OSX system to 10.6.8, my Photoshop Elements 2.0 no longer functions. There is no error message. The program closes and this message appears...
"An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit."
Is there any patch or upgrade that I can download to make this program work on the newer OS? I don't feel I should have to pay for a whole new software program when I've already purchased the license for Photoshop Elements 2.0.

I am not sure if those are the official reqs but that is what I was able to dig up. Photoshop Elements 2 is a very old version, the current one being 10.0. You could try your luck by posting your query on http://feedback.photoshop.com. The experts on that forum should be able to guide you. -
Photoshop Elements Editor Function Won't Work
After upgrading to Windows 7, the Editior function on my Photoshop Elements 6 program stopped working. I have tried the following: Run as Administrator. No success. Compatibility Troubleshoot. No success. Reinstalling. No Success. Anyone have any suggestions?
Please try the below solutions-
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
4. Try launching directly from the exe of editor and organizer and see if it gets launches-
Editor - c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe -
Photoshop elements 10 backup won't work
I've used PSE 10 for some time, but only backup about twice a year (full backups to both external drive and dvds stored offsite). It won't let me backup to my K drive (external), doesn't even start before stating that it has encountered an error writing the file. The external drive works fine; just backed up using Windows BU. I've repaired, optimized, and reconnected files to no avail.

I wanted to do two backups: one to an external hard drive and one to dvds that i would store offsite. I was not trying to copy images because i wanted the whole catalog, including the indexing features of Elements Organizer. I've determined a way around this is to use disc spanning software (Roxio) that will backup the very large image folders to multiple dvds. Then, i must be careful to also backup the catalog separately. The problem with this is only if i need to restore the catalog and images. I believe i must replace them in the same drive path for the catalog to work correctly, which can be a problem if i am using a different computer for the restore destination. Then, the drive letters may or may not match. Currently, i have everything on my D drive because it is 2 TB, whereas the default installation is the C drive. I just wish Organizer did this for me, but i guess it's just not going to work, so i'll use Roxio unless you have another idea. Thanks again.

Photoshop Elements 12 download won't work
I have contacted the helpdesk in India several times. Instructions are to download 2 files -- a .7z file and an .exe file. Extract files from the .exe file then use the setup file to install from the .7z file. I am unable to extract the files -- I keep getting this error message:
"A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on our computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."
There is no lack of space on my new computer, and I have write privileges on the destination folder.
How do I deal with this?both files should be in the same folder. you then click (or double click) the exe.

Program won't stay open. Message; "Photoshop Elements 12 editor has stopped working."
This started happening suddenly a day ago.
Once I bring a photo into the program a window appears reading, "Photoshop Elements 12 editor has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is available."
The program has been working fine up until a day ago.
Please advise a fix.Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.

Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works. -
Photoshop elements 11 albums won't sync
Photoshop Elements 11 albums won't sync with ipad using iTunes.
I was using PE10 and synced my albums using iTunes to my iPad 3 iOS 6.0 and 5.1 just fine. (itunes 10.7.0.21) I upgraded to PE11 and it goes into perpetual sync when albums are selected. I deleted some albums and added test albums in PE11 and those changes are not reflected in iTunes.
I worked with Apple Care for about 2 hours uninstalling all of the Apple software (iTunes, etc) and reinstalling. That did not fix it. Apple declared it an Adobe problem and suggested I call them.
I worked with Adobe about 45 minutes before they declared it an iTunes problem.
Any ideas out there?I solved the mystery. It had to do with the file metadata in the Photoshop Elements catalog. When I moved the catalog (pictures) from my old machine to the new machine, the path (folder location) of the images changed. So, although the catalog had cached thumbnails of the photos to display in Photoshop Elements (which tricked me into thinking that the path to the images was correct), the paths were actually wrong. All I had to do was “reconnect” the missing images (a feature in Photoshop Elements which corrects missing/wrong paths to images) and now everything works correctly (sync in iTunes).

Photoshop Elements 11 - Photo Editor not working
The editor on Photoshop Elements 11 has stopped working. I have tried to uninstall Photoshop Elements 9 and failed, this may have caused this problem. Is there a way to run a repair of the applicaiton? If not, will I lose what I have in my catalog if I uninstall and reinstall Photoshop Elements?
You won't lose any photos or catalogs by reinstalling (there's no repair install). However, before you do that, try restarting the editor while holding down ctrl+alt+shift (command+option+shift on a mac). Keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

My Photoshop Elements serial number is not working? The CD says it is for Windows XP/ WIndows VISTA...and my currest OS is Windows 7? Is that the issue?

Whenever I open the editor in Photoshop Elements 12 it does not work. When I try to click open in the application it does not do anything. None of the buttons work. When I open a photo using file at the top it opens but I cannot edit it or use any of the features on the left side.

Thanks i think I got it working of a fashion.
Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.

The scenario is:- say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!

Have you checked whether you have folder for PSE Organizer? It is normally at this location in Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1:
<C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer>
If the folder is there then try double-clicking on the file called: PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
If the folder isn't there at all then you need to re-install the package again using your original disks or from download from Adobe website. <Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10>
