Photoshop Elements 4 and Intel Core 2 Duo?

Hello All
Does Photoshop Elements 4 (Mac) work on the new iMac's with the Intel Core 2 Duo Processors? I need to know before I buy it, I hear some say yes, and others say no.
Thanks for your time, I am a new mac owner and I Love it, but I need my photo editing software. Thanks Bobby

Hi, well first, are you running Parallels or Boot Camp? Make sure you are booted from your Mac Main HD OSX..This will be your default if you are not running Windows. Assuming you are just running OSX, turn on your computer, close all Apps except Finder & Dashboard..Then go to Finder->Applications->Utilities->
Disk Utility App-> Highlite your Main HD->Ensure the First Aid Box is highlighted->Repair Permissions (tab@lower part of screen) If anything shows as Repaired run again. After that return to main screen, insert the PE disk and follow the instructions. After installion & disc is ejected->Repair Permissions & I normally Reboot..L

  • VTx on MSI P43-Neo3 FR (1.0) and Intel Core 2 Duo E7400

    Good day guys...
I was trying to develop (beginner) on Android and I was using this machine for it. Well, the Android SDK has the Intel HAXM bundled with it, it's for VTx-feature of Intel.
Now, I know Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 is on the list that has VTx, but when I run the Intel HAXM installer, it detects that it was not supported. After a few clicks on google, there is somewhat a setting on the BIOS that would enable the use of VTx...
And that's why I asked here, is there something in P43-Neo3 that makes VTx disable or was it not supported?
*BTW, using XP Pro SP3 on this machine...

    Good day guys...
A good day to you, too.

I know Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 is on the list that has VTx
It kind of depends on the exact version:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/36500/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E7400-(3M-Cache-2_80-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)#ordering
Intel says: "See SPEC Details" which forces is to look here:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/36500/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E7400-(3M-Cache-2_80-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)#orderingretired
Three versions of the E7400 are mentioned:
    LGA775      65 W   BX80571E7400   SLB9Y   VTx: No
    LGA775      65 W   BX80571E7400   SLGQ8   VTx: No
    LGA775      65 W   BX80571E7400   SLGW3   VTx: Yes
We need to make sure, that you have the third version first.
What is your current BIOS Version, by the way?

  • Is there a noticable difference between G5 and Intel Core 2 Duo-processor?

    Just wondering...
I have a G5 iMac and came across the Intel Core 2 Duo-processor 24" 2.66GHz. Will I notice a big difference between these 2 models?
    André

    I swapped from a G5 2.1MHz iSight with 2.5GB RAM to 2009 iMac 24" 2.66 MHz with 4GB of DDR3.
    The difference was HUGE.
Now with Snow Leopard as well things have only got faster (or appear to at least)
The whole system is more responsive, less spinning beach ball and rendering a 40 minute TV programme to MP4 only takes about 2 minutes!
I used to have time to make a cup of coffee and catch the news headlines!
    Enjoy the new machine.

  • Slow wireless connection 802.11n AEBS and Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro

I have three Macs all currently connected wirelessly to the new 802.11n AEBS.
    Mac #1 - PowerMac G5
Mac #2 - 17" MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo
Mac #3 - 15" MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo
The wireless connection speed (when using the web browser) is fine for both Mac #1 and Mac #2 but noticable slower for Mac #3. All three Macs are sitting right next to each other. All three Mac are getting an excellent signal. All three Macs are running the same version of the OS. All three Macs have identical network setting (as far as I can tell).
When connecting Mac #3 to the AEBS via an ethernet cable, performance is good. I've also tried configuring the channel manually in the AEBS to channel #1 but this did not help (seemed to help others in a different thread). Additionally, I ran the 802.11n enabler and performance was bad both before and after its installation.
Any idea why the Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro would be performing differently?

Ok eveyone. I did some digging and was able to get the network speed back with my Core2Duo machine. I put the Airport Extreme into Bridged mode and connected the Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports, not the WAN port. After that everything works great. for more information check out this lengthy thread...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3989864&#3989864
    and this site mentioned...
    http://www.macintouch.com/reviews/airportn/#performance
Apparently the new base stations have a few issues that need to be worked out so I'd consider this a workaround. There should be no reason to have to do this. Good luck.

  • Old Airport Express (802.11g) and Intel Core 2 Duo iMac (802.11n)

    Hi guys!
I used to have an iMac G5 with *Built-in 54 Mbps AirPort Extreme (802.11g)*
Then I bought an *Airport Express* and I am sure that by the time it was still an *Airport Express with (802.11g)*
Now that I have a brand new new iMac that is *Intel Core 2 Duo iMac (802.11n)*
Will I have problem trying to connect it to the Express because it is n and not g?
    Thanks!

No. The Airport Extreme card in your iMac automatically negotiates 802.11b/g/n. It will work just fine with the Airport Express.

  • Difference between Intel Core Duo and Intel Core 2 Duo

I bought my MBP in November of last year, before the update on the Pros. However, it says about the new Pros that they have Intel Core 2 Duo processors, which are faster than the Intel Core Duos of previous MBPs. I know I bought mine before they updated them, but my "About This Mac" says that mine has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. So, did they update the processors before this latest update, or do have one of the new Macbooks somehow, or what happened? And, is there any difference between my 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and a 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo?

Only the original Intel machines came with Core Duo processors. The principal difference is that Core Duos are 32-bit and Core 2 Duos are 64-bit processors. There were also increases in available clock speed, L2 cache, and frontside bus speed. The first models only addressed 2 GBs of RAM. Later models had a different memory controller that enabled 3 GBs of user accessible RAM (4 GBs installed) and even later models such as yours had a memory controller that enabled accessing 4 GBs of RAM (4 GBs installed.)
The first Intel Minis came with a Core Solo processor which had only one core instead of two.

  • MacBook Pro and Intel Core 2 Duo?

    Hey there everyone,
It is great that Apple is announcing the Intel Core 2 Duo, but when would it be available in the MacBook or MacBook Pro?
I am starting school in January and would like some time to use my new MB or MB Pro, but don't want to make a decision to buy and have the next gen processor avail next week...
The special with the free iPod Nano or reduced price iPod ends September 16th. Why are people waiting until next Tuesday, September 12 to make any purchases...I hope no bombshell will be dropped on everyone.
I was totally prepared to get my MacBook or MacBook Pro tomorrow, but VERY hesitant now.
Any advice? Am I making a big deal out of this? Will I EVEN notice a difference between the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo?
The main reason I am not buying a MB Pro is the heat issue and yet the Core 2 Duo is predicted to be cooler...
    Help!!!

    Wow great advice so far!
I was never into forums and discussion boards, but since I was buying a Mac again (the first was an LC II...for those who remember) I thought I would check the discussion board...yikes! Great one way, but information overload on the other.
TRUE there will never be a better Mac and to buy for what you need at the moment. Heat being a huge issue why I haven't purchased a MB Pro, it now seems as if the Core 2 Duo will not run much cooler which is a HUGE purchase deciding factor for me. The MacBook seems to run cooler for sure.
If I get the Core Duo MacBook/Pro with Tiger, can I upgrade to Leopard when it comes out in spring? Will they be compatible as I am not sure what 64 bit processors really do?
I can definately wait until next Tuesday to make my purchase, but I will only have until the end of next week to get the education special with the iPod at a huge discount...of course Apple is clearing stock for new iPods surely. The 30 gig video iPod ends up costing 115.00 CAD...can't beat the price that's the thing.
Since heat is such an issue for me with the MB Pro this means I will be leaning towards the white MB and it SEEMS unlikely they will be upgraded as they only came out in May/June.
All I want is to say I am on top of the computer game at the current moment (if possible) even if it only lasts 5-6 months. I am upgrading from an old Windows ME system, Pentium III, 128 Mb RAM, 733 Mhz processor...about 6 years old. My how much has changed since those times.
I am really not trying to make this decision difficult on myself...really!
You all are great for providing some great advice!

Apple does not pre-announce updates like that. They also do not allow us to speculate on their boards about upcoming products.
It is close enough to a major conference that waiting a week would not necessarily be a bad idea if you can.

  • Silly question Re: G4 / G5 software and Intel Core 2 Duo

If the software I want to install ask if I am using a G4 or G5. I am using a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Does this mean I cannot load / run the software? The software is Avid Xpress DV.
    Thanks,
    iamdugmoore

It will probably run under control of the built-in Rosetta emulator. It will not run as fast as it would on a G4/G5 machine.

  • VT with Satellite P300 and Intel Core 2 Duo T5750

    Hello there,
i recently bought a new Satellite P300 Notebook to be able to work with virtualisation technics. Unfortuanately, there is no "VT"-mark in the bios. Is there any possibility to activate the "VT"-Technology? I know that there are many posts about this topic, but they aren't very helpfull, because i already looked up my processor and intel says that it is "VT" capable...
Thanks a lot for your answers :-)

I started working as a Computer Technician about 4 weeks ago and this notebook was the cheapest way to try different systems (because it's quick enough!). The company i work for has many different clients who have very many different systems (also 64bit systems) so i wanted to use virtual machines to evaluate different problems... And without VT enabled a can't evaluate a 64bit virtual machine... So, if you are right (what i do think) then i've got a good notebook which is only good for "normal" business or homeuse... But thank you very much for your answer!

  • Recent trouble with a Billion 7100s and Intel Core 2 Duo

    Hey folks,
I'm on a shared wireless network in my flat using a Dlink wireless router and Billion 7100s modem. This has been working fine for about 4 or 5 months on my iMac, but over the past week troubles have arisen.
Now, the Billion seems to randomly disconnect me. I can still contact the router, and see the router's page, but all attempts to browse the internet or view the modem completely fail.
I can solve this by hard restarting the modem, but after a seemingly random interval it disconnects me again.
What's odd is that it doesn't happen to any of the PCs on the network, and it works fine if I go through Windows on Parallels.
Anything to do with the recent iMac firmware updates, perhaps?
Any help would be appreciated immensely.

    Hello grimskunk,
The Intel E6600 processor should be supported by BIOS v1.5 as well.  A lot of users were using E6600 + P965 Platinum before BIOS v1.6 was available, so the problem is not your current BIOS version.
Please provide more information about your system.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of what we need to know.
Have you cleared CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from PSU after assembling the system?

  • MSI 975x PowerUp Edition and Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 overclocking

As subject says, BIOS ver. 7.40, board rev.2.1, CPU works on other boards up to high 3GHz+ and on this one not even a megahertz over standard 200...
Memory is not a subject, A-DATA Extreme, known to work up to 1GHz, cooling by TT Big Typhoon an PSU by Antec, case CM Wave Master...
No matter what I do, I can't OC the CPU!
    Any clues?
    Wait for BIOS release?
Or grab the hammer and smash the thing apart...

Guys, thanks a lot for your effort...
    Now, where I am now!
7.1B6 works for me only a day, then suddenly rebooting machine caused full stop...no move, no sign of being alive! Hard reset few times kicks in, but not as for the first few hours.
Flashed v7.4B3 which recognized my CPU, thank god and locks me back in the 200MHz FSB range... so all this for nothing!
I did manage somehow to raise to 225MHz, but that's it!
That device is still there unrecognized and still poking my eye out. No Realtek (1.61 by the way) solved UAA HD device, not this one. That is some mystery! I played with BIOS, turning on and off, that's where I come across reboot problem, but no avail!
As I am IT pro, I know you are amazed where all this comes from me, and also need to run WinXP X64, I did believe however that I will go across mapping issues, hope you got some experience. At the moment I am still on W32 partition and still fighting my fight with that nasty board!
I did used AMD systems in the past and I know that timings are all about that platform, but also Intel required decent timings otherwise you experience that wool effect on your desktop alone!
Using Ryan VM prepared copy of WinXP, which worked flawlessly anywhere, using all my knowledge I am close to give up. Nice looking board but that's where everything stops!
When I mentioned that magic speed of 333MHz, I am talking about my b/f machine where only difference seems to be motherboard, and he opted for Gigabyte 965P DS3P, and as you know, this one doesn't come with another 8X PCIE which I will need. Also there's no active cooling on anything, and there same, very same CPU I got worked at 400*9, with very same RAM without a hiccup!!!! For about a month and a half! No reboot prob, no prob recognizing CPU, no unknown devices and so...
I know solution would be to get rid of this board ASAP, but then I should turn to new set of problems however and probably new set of friends across the globe! All the drivers are reinstalled gazillion times, and being a new driver freak, yes I do used all the latest!
What a tough nut! I believe if MSI read this sooner or latter they will point out that even Intel on their own motherboard support overclocking as this is part of their global plan widespreading their technology. You must know that only OC helped AMD raise, and now very same story work for Intel as well!
    Guys, help me!

  • Shake and Intel Core 2 Duo's

Ok, I've probably missed this topic in my search, but the system requirements for Shake 4.1 don't show any Intel processors. Will Shake 4.1 work on a Mac Pro 3.0 Quad or any of my MBP's?
    GG

No, the install is super EZ.
I'm not sure where you're getting your info, but the newer Macs use PCIe, not AGP,
and Shake 4.1 is a Universal Binary, so it does quite well on Intels.
Maybe you should look at system requirements from this webpage:
