Photoshop Elements 5.0 captions

Q1:  How can I copy "captions" to hard drive photo file "properties".  Just copy and paste one-at-a-time?
Q2:  How can I copy photos from Elements to a disc WITH the captions?  Is the only way a slide show?

Thank you very much for helping!  I'm afraid I don't understand something basic which is getting in the way.    When Paige says "select the photo in the Organizer", here's what I have been doing.  I think there are 3 ways I can add a caption, and I haven't seen any difference between them.  One is to right-click and select "Add caption" from the pop-up list.  Another is to double-left-click on the photo to open it and to click on the caption bar to enter info.  The third is to go up to the second bar from the top and select Edit then "Add Caption".   No matter which option I choose, the caption is added.  The problem is that I only seem to be able to see the caption when I am in Elements.  When I try to copy the photo to a disc or paste it into an e-mail, the photo does not carry the caption with it.  I was hoping that it would somehow be saved in the photo file on my hard drive, just like other Photoshop edits are.  In direct answer to your suggestion, I see the File>Write Tags and Properties Info to photo" and click on it, but the Tags and Captions do not appear in the photo file on my hard drive.     My computer has Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Windows XP Version 2002.  I save photos in Documents and Settings/My Pictures.  From there if I right-click on a photo, the bottom option on a pop-up list is "Properties".  As far as I know this is the only place where information is stored for that image.  It has places called Title, Subject, Keywords, and Comments.  There is no place called "Captions" but I was hoping the caption would somehow be saved there somewhere.  If it is not saved there, where is it saved such that someone will see it if I send it in an e-mail or on a disc?  Perhaps I should just ask what is the proper way to send a photo from Elements to a friend by e-mail and disc so that it includes the caption?  - Op111

Tags are independent of PDF page content. Removing/deleting a page or page(s) does not remove anything in the PDF's structure tree.
As Full Check is looking at the structure tree the report reflects what is present there.
In the Tags panel walk the structure tree to locate the Table tags. Delete these.

  • Captioning Problem in Photoshop Elements 7 (and earlier)

Photoshop Elements provides the ability to add a caption at the bottom of a full image screen. However, once I have typed the caption and click the down arrow to view and caption the next photo, the displayed photos quickly scroll to the last image. I can avoid this if I click outside the Caption text box before clicking the down (scroll) arrow, but this is one more thing I sometimes forget when moving to the next photo caption. I consider this a bug and would like to see an update where I can finish typing, click on the down arrow and it goes to the next photo and caption, not the end of the file.

Interesting -- I'm not able to reproduce that on my PSE 7.  Here's what I did:
    1. In the Organizer, select 3 thumbnials.
    2. Display > View Photos In Full Screen.
    3. Show Properties to get the properties window visible.
    4. Type a caption into the properties window, but leave the cursor in the caption text box.
    5. Click down-arrow to go to the next photo.
    Are you doing something different?

  • How to transfer the photo captions from Photoshop Elements 12 organizer to Adobe Revel albums ?

How to transfer the photo captions from Photoshop Elements 12 organizer to Adobe Revel albums ?

Thks for the contribution. However, it seems I cannot solve my problem with the kindly proposed solution.
    Let me rephrase my problem:
I off-line prepare, organize photos and also add manually individual photo captions with PE12 Organizer. In the properties panel, I can check that the photo properties (including captions) are properly associated with the photo.
However when I upload on Revel -directly with PE12 Organizer (selecting Share/Private Web Album)- these individual (accordingly captioned) photos or albums, I cannot find the photo captions (i.e. the photo caption did not directly show up with the photo in Revel). This obliges me to a double work by copying  and pasting each photo caption.
Is there any plan to get rid of that ?
Let me add that I am using the French version of PE12

  • Can I print a contact sheet that includes the caption for each photo using Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac. I previously used Photoshop Elements 6 for the PC and could do this.

I just switched to a Mac and installed Photoshop Elements 13. I previously worked with many years with Photoshop Elements 6 on a PC where I used the contact sheet function -- with each's photo's caption included -- to print print a collection of 400+ member photos for a club I belong to. This worked beautifully. I assumed I'd still have this ability with my new software, but can't figure out how to do it. Help.

Try using psd.  Some rerports indicate some confustion between the apps with TIFF.  See:

I cannot confirm, nor test, since I use PS CS5, and not Elements.

  • How do I stop Photoshop Elements 12 from adding a caption to my image?

How do I stop Photoshop Elements 12 Editor from adding a caption to my image?  It is automatically adding the name of my camera (as a caption) to the file any time I make a change in the Editor.  Then I have to manually delete them.

That's not Elements which writes the Camera model in the exif, that's your camera. It's a common complaint with Olympus.
    Solution (edited)
Use the 'Find' menu to select the files starting with the offending caption (Olympus, for instance). Highlight all selected files and right click; select the option to add a caption; leave the caption blank and click enter; you'll be prompted if you want to delete the captions : you do.

  • Photoshop elements not saving edits/captions

I am perplexed how to get my photoshop elements 4 to save my photo edits and captions. It has worked well for many years but something happened a couple of months ago and now it is not saving either my photo editing or captions in organizer...HELP!

DJ, My computer is windows 8, below are the system requirements for PSE12 - looks like it will run in 64-bit. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
No, you have seriously misunderstood what I said. PSE will not run as a 64 bit application under Windows. Even though you have a 64 bit version of Windows, PSE will NOT run as a 64 bit application under Windows. It will run as a 32 bit application under Windows 64bit, giving it a maximum of approx 3 GB of memory to work with. I don't know if that will make your problems go away or not. Please download the 30-day free trial of PSE 12 and see if your problems go away or not before you make a purchase.
    From the system requirements
all other applications run native on 32-bit operating systems and in 32-bit compatibility mode on 64-bit operating systems

  • Adobe Bridge CS 5 and Photoshop Elements 8 compatibility?

I have Photoshop Elements 8 installed with Camera Raw 5.5 on a Windows 7 platform.  I recently purchased Photoshop CS 5 which came with Camera Raw 6.2.  Both products work well independently.  Where I'm encountering an issue is when I use Adobe Bridge to access an image file for processing in Camera Raw 6.2, the changes made to the file show up in Adobe Bridge, but are not observable in the Photoshop Elements Organizer.  When I look at the file properties I can see that Camera Raw 6.2 updated the file and the updated date does appear in the PS Elements Organizer.  Also the items listed in the Camera Raw metadata are different in the two products (PS vs PSE).  I'm wondering if Camera Raw 6.2 is writing data in a structure that is not supported by Camera Raw 5.5?  Will updating PSE to the Camera Raw 6.2 version solve this mystery or is likely to introduce a more serious problem?
I happen to like some of the features of the PSE Organizer that are not available in Adobe Bridge so I'd like to have them work well together.

Here's some additional information obtained after further investigation.
I edited a .NEF file from Adobe Bridge using Camera Raw 6.2, then saved the file.  I checked with Windows Explorer to see that the file modification date and time reflected the current time -- they did.  Then I viewed the file in PSE 8 Organizer.  The file did not reflect the changes so I updated the thumbnail.  That made it clear that changes had been made, however, but there was a noticable difference between the renderings of the image in the two applications.  Colors appeared more saturated in the PSE displayed version.
I've also tried to update the PSE 8 Camera Raw plug-in from the distributed version 5.5 to the current version 6.2 but was not successful.  The online instructions don't seem to address all the fine points of making that work on a Windows 7 64-bit system.
Another less serious issue is that tags and captions don't seem to be totally mobile between the two applications.

  • How do I get imovie to use Photoshop Elements 12 as external editor?

How do I get imovie to use Photoshop Elements 12 as external editor? I am making a movie slide show with music from my Caribbean vacation photos and adding text captions to photos in PS Elements 12. I can also add some effects to photos like edge blur although I like iphotos effects better but iphoto doesn't seem to do text. The finished PS Elements photo doesn't seem to want to be shared by iphoto which is what imovie uses...
I am still learning to use PS Elements 12 for Mac (had PSE 7 for WinVista but wasn't proficient) and Mac and it's programs are new to me. I switch between my old Dell which is still amped for graphics and the new Mac mini. I started to use Movie Maker to do my vacation project but read that imovie was better but so far it doesn't seem to have as broad of file useage when it comes to imovie and photo files.
    Hmmmmm??? What to do?

You simply need to create your stills with Photoshop Elements, save them in a suitable format (.jpg, .png, .tiff are all acceptable) then drag and drop them into your iMovie timeline.  You don't have to use iPhoto.
    Geoff.

  • How do I get my photos from a previous version of Photoshop Elements (6) into Photoshop Elements 12?

How do I get my photos from a previous version of Photoshop Elements (6) into Photoshop Elements 12? Do I restore from a backup?  I have over 12,000 pics ( a good portion with multiple versions) and don't want to lose captions and metadata. Thank you in advance for your help.

If this is on the same computer just install PSE 12. It should find your old catalog and upgrade it to PSE 12. If for some reason it doesn't, then go to file>manage catalogs, find your old catalog and tell PSE 12 to convert it.
If this is a new computer, then yes, full backup and restore.

  • Can I FTP large photos directly from iphoto or Photoshop Elements?

I have been uploading large jpegs onto another server using ftp plug-in with Aperture. But it strips the photo info, captions etc from the file, which is crucial information for my clients. Does any one know why this is happening, If I could ftp directly from iphoto or Photoshop elements even, it would be easier for me as I don't find aperture useful for multiple batch changes in file names and captions.
Currently I have been editing the file names and comments in iphoto, exporting 'version name' (other wise it exports the original file name) to a folder on the desktop and then importing these files into aperture where I use a plug in AperturetoFTPpro. I do have the export version box checked and not the 'master' box - By now i've lost track of which it thinks the 'master' or 'version' is!
not sure what's causing the problem, iphoto or aperture.
When i look at the metadata in aperture, I can't see the captions, but if i open the same file in photoshop and do 'apple i' the info is there.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to FTP directly out of iPhoto that's built into iPhoto, but you can try asking in the iPhoto forum where if anyone knows how you'll be more likely to get a response. There is a third-party product called PhotoUpLink that the developer says works with iPhoto that you could try.
The same applies to your Aperture question; try asking in the Aperture forum, though if you're using the demo plugin that comes in the Aperture Plug-In SDK, that's really not intended to be "production quality" but rather just an example of plugin development, so it may well lack capabilities or otherwise have issues. You might take a look at PhotoUpLink or Uberload for Aperture,
Not using Photoshop Elements I can't say about that, but Adobe runs their own forums for that here where you could ask.
    Regards.

Hello, I would like to create and print a contact sheet in Photoshop elements 13. I have managed to do that but I need desperately to be able to place a title on the contact sheet. Also, each photograph has as name and I need these names to show up on the contact sheet when I print them out. If this is not possible I will just return my product. I have an old old version of Photoshop that will do just that but with this new elements I cannot find it.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13/13.1 running on?
Assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, open the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 and select your media
    for the Contact Sheet.
Go to File Menu/Print and set up the Print Dialog for Contact Sheet.
If you used Edit Menu/Add Caption beforehand, I can see how you can get
    Date
    Caption
    Filename
under the Print dialog's "4" and even a page number if you have more than 1 page. But, I am not seeing
where you are going to get a title for each of the contact sheets.
Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
You can get into the Elements Organizer 13/13.1 from the Welcome Screen or by clicking on the Organizer Tab
at the bottom of the Expert workspace in the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Editor.
Please let us know if we have targeted your quesiton..

  • Photoshop Elements 11 and Metadata Working Group Guidelines

Could you please let me know whether Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 is fully compliant or not with Metadata Working Group Guidelines?
    Thank you

PSE11 supports the IPTC data fields but captions (description) and keywords are stored in the catalog unless metadata is written to files. GPS co-ordinates written by a digital camera or device can also be read by PSE11.
