Photoshop Elements 5.0 ...  "Output your slideshow" to wmv

My output progress hangs up and will not complete creating a WMV file.  Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

Hi,
Create a dummy slideshow say taking just one file and try saving it as wmv. See if that can be created or not?
Let me know once done.
Thanks

  • Photoshop elements 10 freezes when creating slideshow from album

It seems pretty simple to just select a few pictures from the organizer, select create, select slideshow.  A box comes up asking my preferences and when I say OK, the program freezes.  Any thoughts?

    Anwesha,
I did delete the psa.prf and status.dat files, opened photoshop elements, opened organizer, opened the catalog, hit repair, the system said it did not need to be repaired.
When finished, I selected a few photos, hit create, hit slideshow.  The editor box came up, I hit OK to the preferences, then it locked up again.  All other functions in the create category are working fine.   So I tried the same thing all over again, deleting the files you suggested, and went back into the catalog, hit repair and when it said it did not need to be repaired, I hit ‘repair anyway’.  It still did not work.
    Thanks for your continued help.

  • Output of slideshow to .wmv in PSE5

I created a slideshow in PSE5 that I saved as a .wmv file.  My Samsung bluray player would not play the file and Samsung support suggested it may be that the wrong codecs were used in the creation of the file.  The codecs supported are:
Video: VC-1 AP or VC-1 SM
    Audio: wma
Does anyone know what codecs PSE5 uses when it creates a .wmv file?

Now I don't work for Adobe, but it is my understanding that these WMV files written from the PSE 5 slide show creation editor are intended for playback on a computer (most usually a Windows OS computer but also possible on an Apple computer with proper plugins).
Do you also buy Premiere Elements 3, when you purchased Premiere Elements 5 ?
Premiere Elements it is capable of writing the output of your PSE 5 slideshow in more choices of video formats. So there is a better chance that Premiere Elements could write an output that could be read by your Samsung DVD player.
P.S. I don't know which codec PSE 5 uses for the wmv file.  There are several utility programs that will display the info about a video file.
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
is the site for a utility called G-spot that might be helpful for you to learn what codec was used for the PSE 5 wmv files that you have. People on the Adobe Premiere Elements forum often discuss interpretation of this information.

  • Photoshop Elements 7.0 Text On My Slideshow

    Hi-
Just started using photoshop elements 7.0 for my slideshows.  I just noticed when I view the new slideshow video, on the bottom left of the slideshow it flashes the name of my video, then switches over to the text, "photoshop elements 7.0"........It keeps flashing and  alternating between the two.
My question:  Can I change the text there.....or get rid of this text, or do I have to adverties ps elements during the entire show?
    Thanks.

    Hi Bob:
Thank you for responding.  It is not the trial version.  The file is being outputted as a .wmv.
I have not put any text into the slideshow, just voiceover.
I don't think anything funky is going on.
When you view the show in Windows Media Player, on the botton left hand part of the screen is a stamp.  It alternates between the name of the show, then photoshop elements 7.0 text.  It will continue to alternate these two lines throughout the entire show.
Hopefully, the image below shows you what I mean.

  • How can I use photoshop Elements 8 to make a DVD to play on a regular TV-DVD? [was:DVD-CD-r]

How can I use photoshop Elements 8 to make a DVD that will show on a regular TV-DVD set-up

You can't do this in PSE by itself. I'm assuming you have windows, so output your slideshow as a wmv file and then use Premiere Elements to finalize the disc, if you have that. If not, use whatever you do have (if you can burn DVDs, you have software). Even windows dvd maker will do this.

  • Export from Photoshop Elements 6 to Premiere Elements 8

I prepared a slide show with The Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 and produced a DVD which has good but not excellent image quality (I chose File Setting - High 800x600). To improve the DVD image quality I installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 8. I exported the slide show to Premiere Elements 8 and have several problems.1 The image quality of the DVD produced by Premiere Elements 8 is worse than the one produced from The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
2 The titles, transitions and soundtrack does not show in Premiere Elements 8.
3 The slides sequence in Premiere Elements 8 is different then the one in the slide show in The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
At one time a menu popped up asking me if I wanted to convert the Catalogue of V6. I declined because I was afraid that the V6 catalogue may be replaced and I would not be able to go back to it.
    Please help.

    Conclusion.
My results are consistent with your problems NOT being associated with Photoshop Elements 6 slideshow being used instead a Photoshop Element 8 slideshow in the slideshow transfer to Premiere Elements 8.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8.
First I created a slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor. It included:
    (a) 19 jpeg photos each with pixel dimensions of 3264 x 2448 (that is not recommended pixel dimensions but was used to stress out the project if possible...these represent grossly oversized photos since the goal is DVD VIDEO with standard frame size of 720 x 480.)
    (b) I used a Wipe transition between each
    (c) I used text within the photos (included in the text was a sequential number so that I could more easily visually follow the sequence of the slideshow after it was transferred to Premiere Elements 8)
    (d) I added two audio clips as soundtrack (the first I placed from beginning to just before the last two photos to pick up on any audio out of sync as well as loss of a whole audio clip)
    (e) I used a pan and zoom effect for photos 1 and 2.
The quality of the preview in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor was good.
I outputted the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor slideshow, using the Slide Show Edit Output option "Send to Premiere Elements". When I did, Premiere Elements 8 opened, I set the project preset, and it accepted the slideshow. In the Project Media area were
    (a) a folder containing all the individual components of the slideshow
    (b) the slideshow file in a video (grouped) form
The video (grouped) form had automatically been placed on the Timeline as well.
Everything transferred correctly. No problems. SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW.
I even burned the Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO standard from Premiere Elements 8, and the DVD-VIDEO standard played back well on my 19 in LCD Widescreen TV.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8.
I repeated the above with Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8 and the same slideshow and obtained the same results.
IMPORTANT. Whether it was Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8 or Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8, I had to render the Timeline in the Edit Mode in order to get the best possible preview so that I could determine/confirm what was on the Premiere Elements Timeline. And, rendering the Timeline as described with all those oversized photos took several hours.
This is what I need to know:
    1. How many photos did you use in the slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 slideshow, and what were their pixel dimensions? If you do not know, you can check it out in Photoshop Elements Full Editor/Image Menu/Resize/Image Size dialog or just place your mouse course over the file on the hard drive and note the "dimensions".
    2. If you transfer your slideshow from Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 to Premiere Elements 8, use the Output option "Send to Premiere Elements", and get your slideshow on the Premiere Elements 8 Timeline, do you render that Timeline by pressing the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard so that the red line over the Timeline turns green when the process is complete?
    3. Is your computer optimized, defragmented, cleaned up, scratch files directed to an external hard drive (NTFS formatted), etc. If you are using an external hard drive for the scratch files, is there enough space there for them?
    4. What is your computer operating system and what are its resources, such as, available RAM and free hard drive space. Have you checked your computer's virtual memory set up?
Stay the course on this to rule in or out the above non wmv approach to getting your slideshow as a DVD-VIDEO. But if you do decide to detour over to Save As File Movie .wmv and you are dealing with oversized photos and an offending component in the slideshow, the the writing of the .wmv becomes a possible focus point for errors. And, if the .wmv is destined for DVD-VIDEO, then use the file size (also known as profile) = NTSC DVD (720 x 480).
I suspect that the problem core goes to
    (a) use of oversized photos
    (b) offending component in slideshow
    (c) size of slideshow
    (d) computer resources
    (e) combination of all or any one of above
I will continue to watch for your progress.

  • How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide show with Photoshop Elements 8?

I have a banner for a web page that measures 800 x 200 pixels. I would like to create a slide show in the whole volume but I have been unable to discover where to change the standard size of the slide show window to 800x200 in Elements 8. Can anyone help?
    Al

Many thanks for your reply. I edited a series of photographs to 800x200 as
you described and then attempted to create a slideshow in Slideshow editor.
I get a good horizontal fit in the slide frame but there are black bars top
and bottom since the frame is more than 200 pix high. My question really is
how do I create a 800x200 slide frame that the edited photographs will fit.
Subject: How do you create a 800 x 200 pixell slide
    show with Photoshop Elements 8?
In the slideshow editor interface click once on your image in the main
window - you will see a bounding box appear together with editing options.
Click on the More Editing button and when your image opens in full edit
    select the crop tool.
Set width to 800 px and height to 200 px and resolution to 72
Drag out your crop rectangle and move your image to the position you want -
this avoids image distortion but you will sacrifice parts of the original to
    create a banner.
Press Ctrl=S to save and check version set to save an edit without affecting
    the original.
Press Ctrl+W to close and your cropped image should automatically pop up in
    the slideshow editor.

  • Compatibility of Photoshop Elements 5 with Premiere Elements 7

I have Photoshop Elements 5 and have created an audio slideshow in it, but I was told that in order to get it to DVD that can play on things other than my PC, I'll need to get Premiere Elements. Is that right?
If so, would I be able to buy just Premiere Elements 7 and use it to do this and to do other stuff with PSE 5?
Or would I need to buy Premiere Elements 7 with Photoshop Elements 7?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks!

I am not 100% sure but I believe that PSE5 will only create a VCD... so will not burn to a DVD but only to a CD. Some DVD players will play VCD discs, not sure if all will.
If you buy PE7 you would need to export your slideshow in WMV format and bring this into PE7 for further work/burning.

  • Transitions in Photoshop Elements 9

I'm using Photoshop Elements 9 to create a slideshow.  I created a simple slideshow in Photoshop and then exported to Premiere Elements to do some additional editing and add audio.  To some of the slides I've added text.  However, the transitions don't apply to any of the added text.  I've used "fade" and "dip to black"...and with both, these transitions don't work with the text, only the photo itself.  Thus, the transitions look jerky with the photos fading...but not the text.  Looks very poor.  Am I doing something wrong or is it a problem of the program?  Is there a work-around?

1- I think you might receive a better answer if you ask (about your problem with the transitions timing on the text added to the photos) in the Premiere Elements forum.
2- Since I can't give you a direct answer- I am suggesting a workaround which would require that you redo most of the work of creating this slide show.
Instead of adding text during the slide show creation process, you would make a copy of the photo file for each photo that you are using in this slideshow -- then for each photo use the TEXT Tool of the Photoshop Elements Editor to add the words to each of the copy photo files.  Then make the slide show again using the "copy photo file with the text on the photo" for each image where you use added text.
I know my workaround is a significant amount of work. I definitely recommend experimenting with only a few photos to verify that you can get your desired result. You need to take these tests to whatever will be the media format of your slideshow playback.
If the ultimate destination ofr this slideshow video will be a DVD disc, I recommend using a read/write DVD while you are testing and then using a DVD-R for the final result.

  • In PSE9, outputting slideshow to .wmv skews inserted text, but preview is fine.

In Photoshop Elements 9, I created a slideshow, which included text on the slides.  The preview looks
exactly how I want it, but when I output to a .wmv file, the text becomes over-sized and spills off the slide
(so only about two-thirds of it is visible).  How can I get the outputted .wmv file to look exactly like the preview?
    Regards,
    Chris

I did try re-doing the slideshow from scratch, and changing all the image sizes to match the output video (1024 x 768).  I still got the same problem - until I realized that re-sizing the text window over the slides causes this to happen.  I tried experimenting with the text on 2 identical slides, and each time when I re-sized the text box, the text skewed.  I can still move the text box around without incident.  Any further thoughts on why this happens?

    Chris

There is something wrong with my Adobe and/or Adobe Forum sign up.  I cannot stop receiving emails from the Photoshop Elements Forum.  I have repeatedly clicked "stop emails" under notifications to no avail.  I am sure that I am on the Photoshop Elements page.  As far as I know I have not signed up for any other forums.
Barbara B. I have not tried your advice from your email below because I can't find where username>library>preferences is, to then delete com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist, etc, per your suggestion.
Even so, it is ridiculous that you would have to go through that to kill a subscription.  Did I miss something that allows one to simply "unsubscribe" and start over?  I may very well have done this to myself somehow but again, there really should be an escape hatch where you can stop everything.
I want to stay connected, I just don't need to see every email from the forum now that my initial issue was resolved.  I had planned to simply visit the forum every now and then to see what I could learn. At this point I am afraid to have anything to do with it.
The unstoppable emails are being sent to [email protected] despite the fact that I have tried to obliterate any association with that email.  I even changed my name and email to a fake name with a disposable email account but I STILL get dozens of emails a day which again, are being sent to the former email address [email protected] .
Can and administrator, Adobe or someone please kill ANY AND ALL accounts associated with [email protected] , [email protected] , or any prefix associated with  @cowgarage.com, as well as anthing associated with the disposable email address [email protected]

    Hi,
I'm not an administrator... just another user.
Here's what I did to stop all e-mails. This method requires you be signed into the online web forum.
First, make sure the envelope is clicked in the right hand pane under actions. If e-mails are currently stopped, the envelope will say "receive e-mail notifications" If it says that, leave it alone.
Above has e-mail notifications turned off for the Photoshop Elements forum. (Not sure but you might have to do this for each forum for which you are subscribed unless you shut it off in the preferences. See next step.
Next, click on "Your Stuff" in the menu bar...on the menu bar that should in your case say Welcome, DavidRobertsdc3.
Click on Preferences in the drop down menu.
In the dialog that comes up change the settings under E-mail Notification Preferences to "NO" for both options; then hit the "Save" button.

Just user to user....based on past and current history, Adobe Tech Support is not going to help you with a technical issue which is preventing you from using your purchased serial number for Photoshop Elements. Version 12 is not the current version. And, the Adobe Tech Support is limited even for the current version which is 13. If this matter involves a purchased activated serial number trapped on a crashed computer while you are trying to install on a 3rd computer, then probably Adobe Chat Activation can be of assistance. If that is the case and you want to explore that possibility, then click on the following link
    Contact Customer Care
    Photoshop Elements
    Adobe ID, Signing In
Adobe ID, Sign In, Account Help
    Chat Panel
If the above link does not hold its set, then you will need to navigate to the Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.
Are you getting one of those "too many computers with your serial number" messages? Then the above should apply to your situation.
    Before the above consider....
    a. For Photoshop Elements technical issues please post your question in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum. Somehow your
question got posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum.
    b. Have you verified your Photoshop Elements serial number at the Adobe web site (http://www.adobe.com) - after signing in with your
Adobe ID and Password, type My Products in the Search field and follow the path to your product in My Products. Click on Adobe
Photoshop Elements 12 in your list to reveal the serial number.
    c. Do the install with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.

    Hi Ankush,
what a speed for an answer, wow. Very nice.
OK; at this time, I can´t get support thru the Adobe enterprise support team; we want to buy support, but later .... (not my opinion...)
So, I installed/changed the PSE described in the following document:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/861/cpsid_86149.html
but in the setup.ini file, I want to choose to write down a log file for troubleshooting (like here), install silent (without /qb- oder /passive, the installation is not silen -normaly...) - why not? In the serup.ini file, I found the msiexec parameters inside the setup.ini, why do not here a change to have a log for installation....like described for older PSE versions....
Now, I´ve changed the setup.ini file back to its original state (see below) and only use the steps from the doc above...

mmmh. When I have a look in the event logs, I can see, there there many install entries for more products, like MS VC++ and Element programs as I can see thru my install tests before....I think, there is the problem. The first installation only installs the Photoshop editor, not more....
Now: But, when I start Elements, It asks me to change the region/country - can I setup these thru the installion process, the my user don´t need to setup this?
The main goal is done (done? is this right?), when I can have a log and no more region/country settings, it would be perfect!

  • Why wont Photoshop elements 12 save to DVD in MPEG2 format when I have Premiere Elements 12 package loaded onto pc also?

I purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 12 package at Best Buy.  I created a slideshow within the Photoshop Elements Package.  When finished, I tried to save it using the instructions noted within the Help section of the Photoshop Elements 12 application.  The slideshow was saved outside of Adobe Premiere Elements. When I tried to playback the DVD to which the slideshow was burned, it wouldn't play in my regular DVD player or a Blue Ray DVD Player.  There is no instruction to import the slideshow into Premiere Elements prior to saving it to a DVD.  The WMV format that Adobe uses will not allow the DVD to play anywhere other than my PC, or another P.C.  The help section of the application states that the the file would automatically be converted into a MPEG2 format using the Photoshop application.  Please explain what I'm missing!!!  Desperate for help, as I have a family reunion this weekend,  The DVD  has 450 photos on it and the DVD was part of a gift package for the family.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.
