Photoshop Elements 5 Re-Install Help

Hi There,
I have tried to re-install Photoshop Elements 5 which I have owned since Jan 2007 onto my new laptop, both from the old hard drive and from an independant download.
When I active the product and agree to the license details there are numerous error messages appearing and the product then closes down.
I have tried removing and re-installing a number of times but keep getting the same errors.
When I click my desktop shortcut for PE5 I get the following error messages.
1.Could not load the Fastcore Routines module because the file could not be found.
2.Could not load the MMXCore Routines module because the file could not be found.
3.Could not load the Multiprocessor Support module because the file could not be found.
4.Could not initialize Photoshop Elements because the file could not be found.
Clearly there are errors with both trying to install from my old hard drive and from the independant download.
I have a registered Serial# with Adobe for this product but I can't find the installation CD.
Any help will be grately appreciated.
Many Thanks
Ted

OK, you simply can't copy a Windows program from one HDD to another, it won't work.

As to an "independent download", depending on where you found this, it might be all virused up.
BTW, "independent download", is that a euphimism for "torrent".
Your original disc contained the serial number to your copy of PSE-5. Why would you think a different copy of PSE-5 would work with your installation, or a different copy of PSE-5 wouldn't require it's own serial number, and not yours?
I see this all the time at computer forums, "I lost my Windows disc". Nobody seems to have that doggone Windows disc. Anytime I get a program, I rip it to an ISO file, then burn the backup copy I am legally entitled to make, and then don't let dogs or children play with either one of them.

If you click the link in my first post in this thread, then click "still need help? Contact us" it takes you to a page that looks exactly like the page where you started, but isn't. Select PSE for the program you want help with, click "Activation and Signing In" for the problem area and you will see this:

  • Photoshop Elements 4 to install

I've got a 17" iMac 1,83Ghz Intel Core Duo and running Tiger 10.4.10 and want to get Photoshop Elements 4 to install, but the specifications on the adobe and apple website say that it requires a minimum G4 processor, and Intel processors require Rosetta? Can anyone help? Do I need to buy Rosetta, can I use Photoshop Elements on my iMac without it?

Welcome to the discussions, nirof. It should install just fine, but you may need to create a new account to use for the install. Try with your regular admin user account first, and if you have a problem create a new admin user, install, then delete the new account.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Silent install not that silent

    Hi,
After following the Silent Install Instructions here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s-1.html it still is not fully silent.
As mentioned in the KB article you need to create a application.xml.override file that is said to supress the Eula but it still shows up.
The actual install of the software is silent but on first start it shows the ElementsOrganizer EULA then makes you select a Country/Region and then shows the Photoshop Elements 11 EULA.
Is there any way that we can supress both of the EULA's and automatically mark Australia as the Country/Region??

    @99jon,
That did help out alot. In the end I added Country=12 on to the end of my install command which is the country code for Australia.
I also added in another line in to both of the application.xml.override file which supressed the EULA's
         <Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data>
I also used this method for a silent uninstall which might help other users
    Uninstall PSE-10 in silent mode
Open the command prompt in the administrator mode.
(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run. Enter cmd in the Run window, and press OK.
(Windows 7 and Windows XP) Click Start (Windows-Logo), and type "cmd". Press [Shift]+[CTRL]+[ENTER].
Run the following command to uninstall Photoshop Elements.Verify that the Photoshop Elements 10 folder has been removed from the Program Files folder after running the command.
      start /wait Msiexec /x { EE549AF9-8FAA-4584-83B2-ECF1BC9DC1FF} NOT_STANDALONE=1 /qn
After the uninstallation is complete, run the following command to uninstall Elements Organizer. Verify that the Elements 10 Organizer folder has been removed from the Program Files folder after running the command.
    start /wait Msiexec /x {22D3A614-482C-444A-932C-9DA1B8ECDFD2} NOT_STANDALONE=1 /qn
After Elements Organizer has been uninstalled, run the following commands to uninstall STIs (ACR, APE, ESTK). The following procedure assumes that you are using the C drive as your boot drive. Modify the command accordingly if you are using a different drive.
      cd "Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\DWA"
    setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile="C:\Program Files\Common Files\
    Adobe\Elements10STIForPSE\ElementsSTIInstaller.remove.xml"
    Finally, run the following command:
    rmdir /s "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Elements10STIForPSE"

Thank you for the replies. I'm afraid neither one helped.
kglad, I never get to any error code so your link can't help.
Jeff, I looked at your link and
    a) again, I never make it to an error code
    b) I'm definitely connected to the internet
    c) I can access secure sites; I tried connecting with the firewall disabled and the same thing happened, so I don't believe it's a firewall issue.
    d) I don't understand the checking host sites - this is far too complicated for a novice user. It should not be this difficult to get a software running. I don't want to mess with these kinds of settings.
    e) I followed the steps for the global sign in root CA and my screen looks the same as the picture here.
I can't activate the software offline as there is no option to generate a response code when I click on having trouble connecting to the internet. All I get is a prompt to change my password.
If the problem were simply connectivity from my computer, then why does the box completely freeze? Can't cancel, can't click on the little X to close it, can't right click on the box to close it. I have to reboot every single time. I know others have had the same problem and I haven't found any answers that I could apply.
I don't understand for the life of me why Adobe does not have TELEPHONE customer support. I have spent 2 days on this, this is crazy.

  • Can you download a 32 bit installer for photoshop elements 12 to install on a 64 bit system (windows 7)

can you download a 32 bit installer for Photoshop elements 12 to install on a 64 bit system (windows 7). Thanks in advance

yes, if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

Is it best to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 before installing Elements 12 or not?
If so, how do you save and transfer all Albums, Folders and Tags?
If not, do they transfer automatically?

  • Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?  I just upgraded from 10 to 12 and wanted to know if it is safe or if there would be any issues with uninstalling and removing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.

Yes you can, if you are happy with the way PSE12 is running.
However both apps will happily co-exist, and there is no duplication as both use the same images on your hard drive.
PSE10 also has some features now removed from PSE12 as Adobe transitions towards 64 bit applications. See my PSE12 first look link:

Can you list your computer hardware specs.? Special attention needs to be paid to the I/O (Input & Output), or the HDD's (Hard Disk Drives), their size, speed, amount of free-space, etc.Are you attempting to do the installation to the default location, or to a custom location? Good luck, and let us know a bit more please.

  • Photoshop Elements refusing to install

I bought PhotoShop Elements 9 a couple of years ago, and use it on the same computer all the time.  However, I have been having a lot of trouble with my computer recently and have had to re-format it about six or seven times recently.  Now, I find that Photoshop Elements will not install at all.  It gets to the stage of installing the Shared Technologies and then stops, and uninstalls itself.

Welcome to the discussions, nirof. It should install just fine, but you may need to create a new account to use for the install. Try with your regular admin user account first, and if you have a problem create a new admin user, install, then delete the new account.

  • Should I uninstall photoshop elements 10 befrore installing photoshop elements 11

should I uninstall photoshop elements 10 befrore installing photoshop elements 11

    Hi eclayton18,
It's recommended to uninstall the older version before installing the new software if you dont intend to use the older version.
But if you want to use both versions you can install and have both on the same machine.
