Photoshop elements 5 - RUNTIME ERROR

I have photoshop elements 5.   I downloaded a programme called Kies so i could upload photos from my Samsung phone. Ever since, my lap top hasn't worked properly and I haven't been able to open photoshop. i have uninstalled the kies programme and had to then uninstall photoshop as it still wouldn't work. Thinking all would now be fine, I then reinstalled photoshop but - no - still not working. The message I am getting is -
Runtine Error!
Program :....be\Photoshop Elements 5.0\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
does anyone have the answer or know HOW i contact the support team?  any help would be greatly appreciated before i have to bin the laptop. many thanks, Sandra

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Runtime Error

I have recently downloaded the newst Photoshop Elements 11 trial, and upon openeing the program up today it crashed and the windows notifier says it's a runtime error. I've breifly searched the fourms for a tutorial or re-download but I can't seem to find one. Does anyone know an easy or fast way to fix this? I don't want to waste any time with my trial.
** I'm downloading FixCleaner, so if that doesn't work I'll edit again.
***So yeah, the Runtime FixCleaner didn't work. I have no idea what to do. Please help!
    Thank you so much,

Have you tried removing and reinstalling the software from the Program and Features control panel?

  • Photoshop Elements 8.0 errors on install

I have a new computer and when I try to install PS Elements 8.0 I get the following error:
    "Photoshop Elements 8.0 error 1326:Error getting file security:C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\8.0\Flash Galleries\Dynamic\ GetLastError: 5"
Any ideas what I can do to get this to install?

If you are installing from disk you could try copying the contents to a new folder on the desktop. Installation often works better from the desktop than from the disk drive.
I would suggest you start by uninstalling everything from the control panel then go to your new folder and find the install.exe or set-up.exe file and right-click on it and choose “Run As Administrator”
Before you start the fresh install, temporarily disable internet security/anti-virus software.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 Editor Error & 10 trial error

    Photoshop Elements 7 Editor Error
    Hello,
Yesterday I did a clean install of Windows 7 (x64) on my PC & have completely updated it through Windows Updater, I than installed PSE7 (disk that I brought new 3 years ago & has worked fine up till now) & followed the instructions.
Now, it loads the first screen fine (Organise/Edit/Create/Share) & Organise,Create & Share each load fine but when I click on Edit I get this error
    Editor - Photoshop Elements 7.0
Could not initialise Photoshop Elements because the file could not be found.
I have already installed it on my old (now completely dead) Vista laptop, this PC & my mothers Win7 laptop & all work/ed.
The thing I have tried are -
    Uninstalling & reinstalling PES7.
Uninstalling & reinstalling the OS & installing PSE7 first.
Replacing all files in 'Computer > Local Disk (C;) > Program Files (x86) > Adobe > Photoshop Elements 7.0 , with the files from my mothers laptop.
Have 'Deleted the Settings File' (Shift + Ctrl + Alt)
Running the Elements Organizer in a new user account.
& ringing customer support who told me to ask here.
I have tried the trial version of PSE10 which does not work, I get the following error
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10
Could not open a scratch file because the file could not be found.
& clicking OK the following error
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 10

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Try reseting the preferences of PSE 10
Open PSE just to the Welcome Screen and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Mac: Cmd + Opt + Shift) and keep pressing.
Click on "Edit" from the Welcome Screen but keep pressing the keyboard keys - don't let up.
You will get a little dialog box asking if you want to delete the settings file. Click "Yes."  You can let go of the keyboard keys now.
This will rebuild the file for you and often solves the issue.
If it doesn't work, navigate to :
    C: > Users > [user name] > Photoshop Elements > 10.0 > Editor > Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.psp
Right click on the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 Prefs.psp, and select Delete.
A new preferences file is created the next time you start Photoshop Elements.

  • Adobe Elements 10 Runtime error message, help!

My Adobe Elements 10 was JUST working 15 min ago, and now when I try to launch it I get this error message: "Runtime Error!" "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."   I have re-started my computer, and have checked for updates but don't see any recent ones. What do I need to do here? I need Elements to do my work, right now.

The first thing to do when behavior suddenly changes like this is to reset the application preferences. Simply rename the preference file listed here and then retry: Preference file locations | Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements

  • Elements 10: Runtime Error!

I've been using Photoshop Elements 10 for about a year now with NO problems and GREAT satisfaction. When I tried to launch it yesterday and today (several times both days) I got the message shown
    Runtime Error!
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    The program then terminates.
Thank you for your help ~ I really MISS this program ;>)
    Geri

Thanx for the input ~ I tried both suggestions. The Welcome Screen / Edit button DID bring up the "Delete Adobe Photoshop Settings File"; I clicked "Yes" and the same Error came up so I started the program again and everything looked good, so I checked the "Don't show Welcome screen" and the launch proceeded but then brought up the same Runtime Error.
Holding down the Ctrl+Shift+Al keys while double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe brings up the Properties dialogue box, but none of the tabs gives the option "Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?"
    I'm running System 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Anything else I might try?
    Thanx Much ;>)

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Editor error message

Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer opens OK ~ but Editor won't ~ Editor appears in the background, the message "Runtime Error!  Program: C:\Program F ...  This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information" and then the Editor in the background disappears.
Elements 9 was an upgrade to Elements 5 which still runs just fine.

  • PS Elements 6 runtime error on re-installation

My PSE 6 ceased to run.  I have uninstalled it using the provided uninstaller.  I have tried to re-install but keep getting this message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library runtime error
    Program E:/Adobe Photoshop Elements\setup.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way
I have PSE 10 installed and it runs OK BUT I prefer the older v6 which has Twain support for my scanner
    Why this error?
How do I fix this so I can re-install the product
Yes !  My PSE is licensed and registered

You can have TWain support in PSE 10 also. Here is doc to help you get TWAIN enabled - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/twain-installed-photoshop-elements-9.html
    Hope it helps.

  • Elements 7 Runtime Error

    "Runtime Error!
    Program: ...Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information."
It has worked great for a month. Got 2 books on Elements 7 for Christmas and now it crashes as per above, whenever I open a photo. It does not crash until I open a photo.
Running Vista Ultimate SP1. Since I last used the program I updated the PhysiX driver, and installed a game called "Ship Simulator 2008".
I will try rolling back the driver. Not sure what else to do. I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, with no luck. Suggestions? This is so disappointing!
    Thank you!

It's back!!!!!  Both Elements 7.0 and Lightroom 2.4 are crashing.  I have been using them heavily the last couple weeks going through the 1000's of photos I have colleced over the last few years.  Suddenly, "Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working."  I installed no software, updated no software, installed no drivers.  I went through all the steps I went through last time, including reinstalling with the anti-virus software disabled, without suceess.  I ran the "licensing repair tool" (for CS3?) three times.  I am not running Microsoft Intellimouse.  I really do not want to do an OS re-install as everything else is and always has run very solidly.  Running Vista 32 bit.  I will probably install a new Solid State Drive with Windows 7 when it comes out as a dual boot and slowly migrate everything over to it, but I can use some more suggestions in the mean time!  Is PSE Version 8 around the corner??
Update:  Lightroom 2.4 is working great....
Update #2:  I followed the procedures I saw to do a complete cleaning of Elements.  Well, I did a complete one alright.  Removed PSE 7, Premiere Elements 7, Lightroom 2.4, and Reader.  Went into the Registry and killed any reference to Adobe, then into the Windows Explorer and killed any reference to Adobe in the /applications and /user folders.  Then I emptied the trash and rebooted.  I then used AusLogics Registry Defrag and rebooted.  I just re-installed Elements 7 and it works!!
This is certainly challenging, but I beat the hell out of Elements and Lightroom so it is worth it!
