Photoshop Elements 5, trying to reconnect photos in Catalog, Vista

I had to install a new fixed disk in my Vista PC and re-install all programme's. In this process it turned out that folder structure is now slightly different from the past. I had copied all photo's to new disk (note I use different folders). Subsequently, I re-installed Photoshop Elements 5 and copied my old catalog. Because of the slight differences in folder names, I need to reconnect all photo's in the catalog. Problem: in this reconnection process my Photoshop Elements program stops after a few reconnections (sometime already after 2 pictures, sometimes after say a bout 5 or 6). Photoshop shuts down and I need to restart. Anybody a suggestion? Thanks in advance Rob Tausk (The Netherlands)

Having a nearly identical problem here. Just bought a new computer, which upgraded me from XP to Win 7, and at the same time I upgraded to Photoshop Elements 9. I restored my Photoshop Elements backup, but found a majority of my photos had become disconnected due to a change in the folder hierarchy from XP to Win 7. Many of my photos when I was using XP were in C:\documents and settings\..., but in Windows 7 there is no documents and settings folder under C:, and Windows won't even let me create a folder with that name so as to move the photos back into it. So now all my photos are in C:\Users\My Pictures\... and PSE can't seem to find them. I have to browse on each one to manually reconnect it. Very tedious and no way that is going to work for nearly 10,000 photos in my catalog. What's worse, the program freezes after I perform a half-dozen or so reconnects. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program, and also the suggestion on the Adobe tech note (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400848.html) and neither seems to abate the freezing issue. I've also tried both restore options (restore to same location and restore to new location/preserve folder layout) and the folder hierarchy is still messed up either way. Any suggestions?

Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 will not open photo files

You are rude, to say the least.  It is adobe's fault for marketing it as compatible.  Yet another reason why I want nothing to do with adobe.  The fact they marketed it as compatible when it is not is what I have a problem with.  I am not blaming the software, I am blaming the company.

  • Photoshop Elements 13, the iTunes "Sync Photos from Photoshop Elements" feature no longer works

Photoshop Elements 13, the iTunes "Sync Photos from Photoshop Elements" feature no longer works??? Is had worked with photoshop 9 pretty good? how can I enable this feature?
    thx. francisco

I am experiencing the same problem after upgrading to PSE13, but haven't found a solution yet.
TomWoodbridge proposes a workaround, see Re: iTunes Photo Sync with PhotoShop Elements Fails after PSE Update
Another permanent workaround (which doesn't require to copy the pse database every time you want to sync) is described here: Elements 13: Cannot synchronise photo albums in iTunes after upgrading from Elements 11
    Hope this helps.

Using photoshop elements 6.0 - converting raw photos files to dng, how/where do I add metadata?

Metadata can be added in Properties panel. select a file and hit Alt+Enter. It will open up Properties panel. You may drag drop tags on the media and do File > Write tags info to files to write tags in file metadata.

  • I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 from B&H Photo on August 13, 2013. Now there is Version 12

I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 from B&H Photo on August 13, 2013. Am I elegible for an upgrade?

I don't think so because only purchases within the 30 days of new release qualifies for free upgrade.  however, some countries have different rules and your best bet is to phone your local office of Adobe and speak to them and be prepared to send them (via email and/or fax) proof of your purchase so that they can consider your status.
Also, it is a good idea to register the product (this is separate from activation of the product) so that there is yet another proof of purchase.
    Good luck.

  • Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Can Photoshop Elements be used on scanned photos?

Yes. It’s also possible to scan directly into the application. In Elements 10, you may need to copy the Adobe TWAIN driver, if your scanner requires it, from the optional plug-ins folder to the Import-Export folder in the main plug-ins folder.
You will need to copy the plug-in Twain_32.8ba
    Copy from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Optional Plug-Ins\Import-Export
    Copy to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\en_US\Plug-Ins\Import-Export.
On Macintosh, copy the ImportModules folder to plug-ins.
    Copy from:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files/Optional Plug-Ins/
    Copy to:
    //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 10/Support Files//Plug-Ins/
N.B. The app store version of Elements has a different file path.

  • How can I stop Elements 7 from trying to reconnect photos?

    Do all photos in Elements
7 also have to be in Windows, etc?  I deleted all my photos from
Windows Vista to save space and now all 2000+ photos in Element
s are disconnected.  I cannot do anything with these photos.  Is there a way to have Elements ignore the fact that they are disconnected?  Do I really have to reconnect all of these photos one at a time?  I loaded a lot of these photos back onto Windows Vista from my external hard drive but they returned with new names that the external drive assigned them so Photoshop Elements can still not find them without them being connected through browse.  I would be so grateful if anyone can help with this!

I deleted all my photos fromWindows Vista to save space and now all 2000+ photos in Element

You might want to look in the trash can/recycle bin and see if your photos are there. If they are, move them back to EXACTLY the same place where they were.
Not only will this fix all your problems, but it is never a good idea to delete your photos. PSE does not contain copies of your photos!

So I recently installed Photoshop Elements 7 and it BSOD's right after opening.
I read that graphics drivers can be an issue so I tried two NVidia drivers (The newest and one a few months old). No difference.

  • IPhoto 9 - Photoshop Elements 9: Can't open photo in PE9 with right click

I upgraded from PE8 to PE9 and set PE9 as my new preference for "external editor" in iPhoto9. However, when I right click, as i did in the past when I was using PE8, I get the welcome screen for PE9 (The window "shakes" for some reason.),and if I then select "edit" rather than "organize," I do go directly to PE9, but my photo is not there. If I try to launch again from iPhoto, another instance of PE9 opens, again with the welcome screen. This time when I click edit, I either get PE9 again with no photo, or it crashes.
    Marion

You set the wrong file as your external editor. Go back into the iphoto prefs and choose the file above the file you currently have. You want the one with the blue square icon, but not the version number in the name and not the alias arrow on the corner. More details here:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2010/11/29/using-photoshop-elements-9-with-iphoto/
Basically you currently have the PSE welcome screen as your external editor.

  • Photoshop Elements (4.0) - opening iPhoto photos

I'm using both iPhoto '08 (v 7.1.3) and Photoshop Elements 4.0. While in Elements, I do a file - open and browse to my Photos folder but the 'iPhoto Library' is grayed out.
How can I easily edit my photos that I've imported into iPhoto with Elements?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 - drag selection from photo to photo in bar below does not work

    Hi,
When opening a photo it appears in a bar below, when opening a second one, I could make a selection with the Lasso - Selection Tool and drag this to the first picture below in the bar. Thereafter the FIRST picture would automatically pop up WITH the selection on it from the second.
For some reason I can not drag it any more to the picture below, It is like it does not accept it or like the first picture does not respond to the action?
Help would be appreciated since I don't know how to continue working with it.
    Kind regards,
    Leen

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop Element 11 to manage my photos rather than iPhoto?

What are the problems, if any, with by passing iPhoto and using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11?

Are you referring to actually managing the image files with the Adobe Elements 11 organizer as well as editing the photos or just use PSE 11 to edit the photos?
The latter is easy.  The former would have you abandon iPhoto, move you photos out of it to folders and then manage the folders and their contents.
What exactly are you wantng to do:  manage and edit or just edit.
By the way the file management capability of PSE is far less capable than the photo managementcapability of iPhoto which is a DAM (digital asset management) application.
