Photoshop Elements 6.0 stopped working, no support from Adobe?? Help Please

Hi, about 3 weeks ago I went to open Photoshop and it just was gone. I then found out I had a virus and since removed it but when I called Adobe for help because I was trying to reinstall and I kept getting a error message saying that the Data Cab file was bad. So then I was told that I had a bad disc or it was badly scratched. Well, wouldn't you think that they would tell me where to download it and just plug my key in?? No, they told me that since Photoshop 7.0 is out I would have to pay for help.
When trying to remove my virus I came upon these files:
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 (Editor)

So, after doing everything from turning off my antivirus, stopping the internet from loading and every troubleshooting tip out there I finally transferred the program onto an external hard drive via my other computer and then tried to load it from the external onto my desktop. Well there are about 7 different application.exe folders so I just unzipped all of them. now it looks like I have parts of the program but gives me a fatal error and wants to shut it down. Can anyone help me. I use it a lot to sell on ebay and I started my own business about 6 months ago and in this economy I am not making any money so I can't just go out and buy Photoshop 7.
Thanks in advance for your responses....

Just giving a suggestion which might not work.
Try downloading Trial PSE6 and use your Serial to activate it. Not sure your activation is expired or not. In that case Adobe Customer Care can help you.

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working... how can I make it work?

Hi.  I have just bought a new copy of Photoshop Element 9.  It installed OK, but when I try to open the Editor, I get the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem", followed shortly by the message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".  The only option then is Close Program.  The Organizer has the same problem.
Does anyone know how to get it to work?  It hasn't just stopped working, it has never worked at all.  If anyone at Adobe are monitoring this thread, please can you tell me what the problem is and how to sort it out?  I tried the Adobe call-back service but all I got was a computer phoning me up, and no person available.

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Organizer stopped working on Windows 7 Ultimate N.

A few months ago, Photoshop Elements 8 Organizer stopped working on my Windows 7 Ultinate N computer.  The photo editor still works and so does Adobe Premiere Elements 8.  Does anyone know of a fix for this problem?  I've done a lot of looking on the Internet with no luck.
    Thanks!

    Hi Michel
Have tried those few things that seem to be still applicable to version 11 (as you will know it is not being maintained and stops at version 8).
However, I don't understand what is meant by "sometimes deleting it's saved preferences and registry entries fixes the problem.  To do that see these Adobe Tech. notes."   Unfortunately the link goes to a page which no longer exists.  I guess that rather than "deleting" the saved preferences the author means re-setting to default ?   "Deleting registry entries" is a task which should, as I understand it, only be done by those with a high degree of expertise.  I am not one of them !
Any comment you have will be gratefully received.

  • "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"...message

I am very very very new to this...and have had so much trouble I'm ready to ask for a refund!  After installing and watching tutorials and not being able to load any pictures to the 'organizer'...(my autoplay does not show the "Organize and Edit Photos" or show the Photo Downloader...I finally called Customer Service.  He told me I needed to uninstal and reinstall.  Ok..I've done that.  But it's still not on Autoplay.  At least he showed me where the file menu is on the 'organizer', so I could get some pictures in there.  But when I click on 'Edit Photos', I get the pop-up message, "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"....It never HAS worked....This thing just came out of the box today and has too many problems for a newby like me.  What is the problem?  Actually, there are the two problems.  HELP!

On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 has stopped working

I cannot get my elements to work.  The following message pops up when I go to the front "editor" page:
"Photoshop Elements 12 has stopped working".
It's urgent that Elements works now - I don't have time to troubleshoot while I am editing 4,000 photos
    Thank you,
    Catherine

This is the only way I have found to use PSE-12 since the "Stopped Working" problem appeared;  Perhaps Adobe can use this work-around to solve the problem:
    1. Press Shift and hold (until thumbnails appear).
    2. Open Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE)
    3. Select "My Catalog" or what you call it. (Note: I have PSE open Organizer directly.  I have 2 catalogs, My Catalog and Selling.)
    4. If you have 2 catalogs you must open "My Catalog" first.
    5. When the thumbnails appear you can release the Shift key.  You are in business.
    6.  To open the other catalog use File/Manage Catalogs, Select the other catalog and click Open. (Note:  If you open the secondary/other catalog first PSE will stop working.)
This is a little more work to get started but I have been using it for 2-3 weeks now without the "Stopped Working" occurring.  Good Luck.

  • Error message - photoshop elements editor has stopped working

Hi - I've installed photoshop elements 8 twice, and I still get the error message "photoshop elements editor has stopped working" .  I can't seem to get beyond this point.  My system is Windows Vista.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

I suddenly started getting the same error message and was reaching my wits end in trying to find a solution.
This may sound bizarre, and you may not have the same situation as I found, but check your system/Windows date setting.
Somehow, the year on my system had become 2096. I corrected it, and bingo! PSE 8 Editor works again.

  • My Photoshop Elements 11 has stopped working on my mac.  bought via download - how to reinstall?

My photoshop Elements 11 has stopped working on my mac.  I bought it via download in December 2012 - how do I get this to reinstall? There doesn't seem to be a place to do this on MyAdobe......

JJWilna where did you purchase Photoshop Elements 11 from?  If you purchased the software from Adobe then please see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1006208?tstart=0&promoid=KBHJQ for information on how to download your purchased software from our site.

  • Vista 64-bit issues "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"

I recently purchased Elements 8 and to this point have been unable to use the editor function.  I can "Organize" without complaint but when I attempt to edit a photo I get a message telling me that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working."  I have attempted to uninstall and re-install and the result has been the same.  While researching online I see that there are a number of people that have this issue but have been unable to find any real solution.  Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Editor_cra shes
It's very likely that your issues are unrelated to the fact that you're running on 64-bit Vista as opposed to 32-bit Vista.

  • My Photoshop Elements 12 has stopped working. How can I correct?

My photoshop Elements has stopped working.  How do I correct?@

This seems to be a big problem judging from the number of posts.
I have elements 12 (previously 10) bought with a Premiere Elements package. This installed and worked well.
My machine unfortunatley crahed and I had to do a system restore (from before Elemnets 12 wasw installed).
Never mind - all other programmes re-installed OK
Re-intalled elements package and Premiere Works - Organiser Works - but Elements will not load.........
Tried unintalling and re-installing - switching off McAfee on install  - remaning SLStore to SLStoreOld (in programme files as suggested on one post) all to no avail....
The funny thing is - having pinned the exe to the taskbar (Windows 7 Pro 64bit) - right click shows the last old images I worked on before the re-intall.
It sounds like a licence issue.
I cannot face hours in a support queue - Has Adobe resolved this yet????
If not my only choice will be to move away from Adobe to get a programme that will actually launch!!!!!
Any one with any answers to thsi much asked question? - Or at least any suggestions????
    Thanks

  • Photoshop Elements 7 licensing stopped working? (150:30)

I just got a new hard drive and restored it with the data that was backed up from my old hard drive.  Now Photoshop Elements 7 says that the licnesing has stopped working (error 150:30).  I don't have the original disk because I got it many years ago.  Can someone help me to fix this it's urgent because I need to finish a project.  Thanks

I told gatekeeper that it's okay.
I'm following these steps but I don't know where to locate the flexnet publisher folder and when I type sudo python on my terminal I get this error
    /usr/bin/python: can't find '__main__' module in '/Volumes/LicenseRecovery 11.6.1/LicenseRecovery'
Solution 2: Run the License Repair Tool
    Close all Adobe applications.
On your startup disk, locate and delete the following folder:
    [hard drive]/Library/Application Support/FlexNet Publisher/
Important: The path above points to the Library folder at the root of your startup disk, not the Library folder in your user home folder.
Enter your password if asked to authenticate the folder deletion.
Download the Adobe Licensing Repair Tool.
    Run the License Service Update.
    Mac OS X 10.7
    a. Double-click the LicenseRecovery111.dmgNote: Leave this window open and proceed to the next step.
    b. Double-click your Hard Drive.
    c. Double-click Applications.
    d. Double-click Utilities.
    e. Double-click Terminal.
    f. Type “sudo python “Note: There is a space following “python”. Do not press Return.
    g. Drag LicenseRecoveryLauncher.app from the LicenseRecovery111.dmg window onto the Terminal Window and press Return. Note: Make sure that the Terminal window has the command and the path to the APP file. For example: "sudo python /Volumes/LicenseRecovery\ 11.6.1/LicenseRecovery/LicenseRecover.py”
    h. Enter your administrator user name and password when prompted and click OK.
    i. Follow the onscreen instructions.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 organizer stops working after about 15 minutes with windows 7??

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, changed preferences, removed preferences, added administrator priviledges with full control to several screens, turned over my screen to Dipanjan, Adobe Rep and still does exactly the same thing. Very frustrating! Anyone else getting this windows pop up screen " Photoshop Elements 11 organizer has stopped working" ?
If I don't resolve this soon, I'm going back to PSE 10 and I guess I'll just have to eat the money wasted on it.
    Finally resolution!
Three separate days totaling about 8-10 hours of chat then another 3 or more hours in chat about this issue today with 3 different people. Finally got to Vijay, who said to:
click on edit in the organizer,
    go to preferences,
    click on media anaylsis,
    uncheck all the boxes.
That did it!!! Less than two minutes, done!  No more problems. I can't imagine how much of Adobe's and my time and productivity was wasted going through all the laborious steps, often times repeating the same procedures when I got some one new, only to start all over again.
Many thanks Vijay. You suceeded where so many others failed!
I sincerely hope if anyone else suffers this dilemma, this will instantly resolve it for you and avoid the extreme frustration and agony I went through.
    Cheers!

Ernie, it shouldn't be required. This is a scientific process, a test to find the origin of the issue. If there is something wrong with the catalog, we can try to repair it, but the fact is there are many possible causes to such behavior and we have to start somewhere. Here is a more complete list of the steps you can take to counter this kind of issue: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-photoshop. html
Is everyone here getting a blue screen from the OS? If so, there are much greater problems at hand than it is possible for an application on your computer to cause. Blue Screen errors are caused by hardware issues. Sometimes it is physically faulty parts, but most of the time it is some sort of driver conflict (generally just an old version that needs to be updated). Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for major hardware components, such as your video card. DO NOT rely on your OS to get the current versions of the drivers. Go to the manufacturer's website and download them directly.

I am urgent need of asistence, I have recently bought the full version of Photoshop Elements 12 and it has ubruptly stopped working. The software has been working perfectly up untill this point. On opening the package either from the start or through an image, the software opens and the tools load, however a message then appears. As an art student it is imperative that this is resolved promptly, please help

    Dear Barbara B
Tried out your advice, unfortunately it did not succeed in fixing the problem.
So back to square one I am afraid. But thank you very much for your help and if you can advise on any other solutions it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Photoshop Elements 5 just stopped working and will not open my catalogue.

I have Photoshop Elements 5 running on Vista 64 bit.  It was working fine, but just stopped working out of the clear blue outside of regular Microsoft patches.
The intro screen opens but when I click on Organize my photos it starts to open the next window but just sits there trying to open my catalogue file of pictures.  I've left it there trying to fully open for hours and nothing progresses beyond that point.  Any suggestions?

Please re-post your question in the correct forum.

I have installed this program on my PC 4 times now and even downloaded the trial version and then put in my serial number on it but every time I try and Edit a picture it starts trying to load up the pic and then crashes and says Photoshop has stopped working..
I'm using Windows Vista (unfortunately) but I've even tried running the program as administrator. Still same problem. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks in advanced

Did you receive any error messages when installing the software?  You can have the Adobe Support Advisor review your installation logs.
