It's a terrific image editor, second only to the full Photoshop. You can do some veryadvanced editing with it.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Hi everyone, I've just stumbled across the following site where you can purchase a download version of Elements 6 for the mac os at a very good price:

I've never heard of the site before but it looks pretty legit and you have to become a menber to purchase the software. It just seems so cheap compared to other sites i've seen selling the product.

Well, that was a lesson in itself. I now know about inverted crop and I can see if I had an easier graphic it would work faster. It took quite a while because I kept getting warnings about not selecting any pixels. Finally I pushed through it and got to a screen where with brushes, marked the selections that I wanted and those that I didn't. In the end I got my graphic without any white showing through. I accidently erased the main outline in a few places but decided I'd stop for the time being. In the end, I accomplished the look I want but my goodness, shouldn't there be a simpler and faster way. I didn't think I was asking for anything out of the ordinary. Thank you so much for your ideas, lesson and helpful response. I appreciate it ! Genie

I am dealing with the Photoshop Elements 6 GIF animation frame delay bug. I understand there has not been a fix for some time so I want to know if one has been developed. If not what do I have to do to address this. Can I get an upgrade? What steps do I have to take and who do I deal with at Adobe for this?

The gif delay problem persisted for many versions of PSE. You can buy PSE 12, but it's silly to buy it from adobe since their upgrade price is more than the street price for the full version at big box stores and online resellers.
If your question is will adobe give you a free upgrade because of this bug, then the answer is no.

I bought photoship elements 11 today. I downloaded it and when I go to open it, it says I don't have the right something to open it on my computer which is Mac. I think i have downloaded it about 5 times now. What do I need to do? I have downloaded adobe revel, and Lite room.....

Where can I get a manual for Photoshop Elements 10? Am I eligible for an upgrade to 11?

I bought my Photoshop Elements 10 last September 6th of this year and I was wondering where I could get a printed manual for the program or PDF that I could print. It is hard watching a video and then doing what they did. I would like a printed manual so I just look at the instruction and then do it. Also am I eligible for an upgrade to 11? If so, how much is the cost?

I have been using Photoshop Elements 6 for many years. Should I upgrade?

I edit a lot of photos - travel, renovations, projects and family. I am happy with Photoshop 6 but since I have been using it for so many years I am curious as to what I am missing out on by not upgrading? I don't want a resource hog and I don't want to lose any of my current functions and I don't want to be overwhelmed by major learning curve. Have simple things like auto smart fix improved?

Photoshop Elements 10 and Windows 7 to Windows 8 upgrade

Hi,
I have Photoshop Elements 10 installed on a PC running Windows 7.
I have registered to receive the Windows 8 upgrade later this month.
Does anyone know whether I should uninstall or deregister PE10 before upgrading the OS, and then reinstall or reregister PE10?
Or is Win8 likely to upgrade the PC, and PE10 will continue to operate satisfactorily afterwards.

The recommended solution is to first deactivate PSE (from Editor), uninstall it. Now upgrade your PC with Windows8 and then install PSE again and register it again.

I have been a long time user of Elements. I recently upgraded to 10 and it no longer recognizes my printers. It says that I need to install printers. When I look in Windows my printers are still installed and work with other programs. The forum wants my to set a photo printer as a default, but i use a laser printer as a default for word processing. This seems to be a serious problem for more than just me.

You're not talking to Adobe here. The responders are users, like you, trying to help. Did you rename one of the HP printers, as suggested?
