Photoshop Elements 6 - GROUP (or Batch) Editing

Hello to all... I'm using one of the older Adobe software packages...Photoshop Elements 6. Does anyone know if it's possible to do BATCH or GROUP editing? For example...you bring up 12 images for correction. You apply changes to the 1st image and then wish to apply the same exact changes to the remaining 11 images. I could not find anything in their HELP files and their ONLINE support is only for Elements 10! THANKS!!! Andy in 'Historic' Gettysburg, PA, USA

It’s not possible in any version of elements, except for raw files where you can open a batch and synchronize the settings.
Adobe Lightroom 4 is the next best alternative. You can save presets and apply them on import as well as selecting and synchronizing batches.

I have photoshop elements,i wanted to edit videos,was offered 30day trial of the premiere version

after downloading,i had to resart my laptop.when i tried to open photoshop elements now,it takes ages to load and when it does,is very unresponsive.i have since found out that my original version has gone and am being promted on screen that i will need to pay for the premeire version when the 30days is up.when downloading the premiere trial version,i was not warned this would happen and that my verrsion of elements would be lost.

Just a further clarification: Premiere Elements doesn't mean fancy deluxe PSE. Just as Photoshop Elements is the consumer version of Adobe's professional photo editing program, called Photoshop, Premiere Elements is the consumer version of Adobe's professional video editing program, Premiere.
Photoshop Elements is only for editing still photos, not movies.

I re-installed my Photoshop Elements 10 Student & Teacher Edition

I just re-installed my Photoshop Elements 10 Student & Teacher Edition which i bought last year.
When I installed it first, I ordered a serial number for the product - but I don´t have this number already.
Do I need a new serial number?

A re-install on the same machine should not need a new serial number. If on new machine, or formatted hard drive you will need serial number.

Organise with iPhoto, Edit with Photoshop Elements, but avoid destructive editing

Hi All,
I prefer to use iPhoto as my photo organiser and for sharing to Facebook and Flickr, but I also prefer to use Photoshop Elements (v11) as my editor. iPhoto is configured to launch PSE for editing and it works fine. My question relates to doing non-destructive saves back into iPhoto. It appears as though I cannot have version control because doing a save overwrites the original file in iPhoto. Although I can chose to save an edited version of my image elsewhere on my MacBook I would prefer to have orginal and saved versions colocated. Is there anyway around this issue or do I have to use PSE Organiser to have version control?
I like being able to Flag a bunch of photos in iPhoto, go to the Flagged folder to share them, and the way iPhoto displays shared folders uploaded to Facebook and Flickr. PSE Organiser seems a bit convoluted.

Take a look at Aperture - with it you can have versions and many people have reported that its editing is robust enough that they seldom if ever use PS or PSE anymore - maybe that would give you the editing power you wnat with the nondestructive editing of Aperture and version control

How can I edit a photo in Photoshop Elements and have the edit appear in Windows 7, My Pictures?

In Windows XP Pro, any edit I made to a photo in Photoshop Elements 10 appeared automatically in that photo in My Pictures. This does not happen in my new Windows 7 computer. Can I change that and have the edit from PE10 appear in My Documents/My Pictures?

When you finish editing choose:
File >> Save As
Then choose a file name and folder and save.

Photoshop Elements 8 crashes when "EDIT" opens from Welcome screen

When Photoshop Elements 8 is launched from the shortcut on the desktop, welcome screen opens and at the bottom it shows "gathering user info....". It keeps doing it as long as I don't click on edit button. When I click on edit button, the edit windows opens with my name and soon it crashes and closes the program. After the program closes, it opens a crash report window which I submitted to Adobe three days ago. I am still awaiting for the response. Sometimes, instead of closing the program, it crashes my computer and a blue screen shows up. In this case, I have to shut down the computer and restart again.
I thought I can reinstall the proram but this software would not allow me uninstall either. When I click on "remove" button on the program in the control panel, a window pops up with a message " this action is only valid for products that are currently installed".
Any help from Adobe technician is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Following could be the possible workarounds :
1)      On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
         Go to c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
            Now launch PSE and check if it works.
2) Try resetting the PSE preferences by
   1. Close Elements.
   2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Edit.
   3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
3) In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall.

Photoshop Elements 12 install issue [edited by host]

I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 on April 14 2014. I installed it on a PC that Crashed due to a defective Power Supply and Case. I have finally rebuilt the PC and have my Serial Number. How do I get it back on my machine? It is the same motherboard, BIOS, CPU and RAM with Win7 Pro 64 bit SP1 back up and running well. All of the other programs that I purchased at the same time were very easy to re-install. WHY IS ADOBE NOT?

I downloaded a 'trial' edition of Elements 12. When it installed it asked if it was a trial or if I had an activation code. I entered what I have and it completed installing. Running it the first time tells me I have 7 days to complete (can't remember other than login info.) Hope this works!

Photoshop Elements 10 Costco special edition a scanner issue

I downloaded the new software as directed. However, I lost the ability to import directly from my Canon scanner/printer.
My old Photoshop Elements 6 allowed me to do that through ScanGear. Is there a way to scan directly into
Elements 10 without having it go to I-photo or desktop? When I selected Photoshop Elements 10 as a destination, it didn't
end up there. With this big upgrade in features, there has to be a way. I have done all the disconnecting printer, deleting it and reinstalling it. Opened the help menu and followed it but it didn't help. What is weird, I can print from Elements 10 so it recognizes the Canon as a printer but not a scanner. Any suggestions?

If I have the twain issue with both computers because of the new PSE software, I need to buy new ones which will not justify keeping PSE10. Everything I tried through your diligent return of emails failed. I am puzzled, as I never have had any problems with your software. I love it. I have used it for collages (Scrapper's Guide and my own creations, etc.) I have restored old photos, made cards. I have 20 thousand photos on my Mac. in Wa. and I have never had an issue dragging a photo into Elements 6. I was looking forward to your new features. I guess I am not mentally ready for the installation issues anymore. You don't suppose there is a problem because it is a special Costco edition. I never got that far. Two pictures dragged into your program and now it has an operational error... nothing went into it... no import.
Do you ever get to sleep? You have long hours.

Photoshop Elements 13 - Costco Special Edition

I purchased Photoshop Elements 13 from Costco however my CD/DVD drive isn't working. I have an expired trial version of elements installed on my laptop. I know that I can use the serial number to reactivate the trial version but I was wondering if there was a way to download the full Costco Special Edition version. Costco doesn't offer a download on their site.

Photoshop elements not importing iphone edits, reverting to originals

Apple support told me Photoshop Elements is one of 5 applications that import iPhone pictures that have been edited in the iPhone photo software as they are edited. So I downloaded Photoshop elements and attempted my first import. Sadly, the pictures reverted to their pre-edited originals, the same problem I've been experiencing with my non-mac laptop. Any assistance appreciated...

ok. Night three...
and some photos!
completed another uninstall/install downloaded fresh from the site.
downloaded the 6.4.1 update manually from the adobe site and opened it from the desktop.
get the usual;
i click on the red adobepatchinstaller icon and i get this..
meanwhile, all my .cr2 files are greyed out when in photoshop/file/open
Tried to open my RAW .cr2 images in the adobe dng converter, but i just get this..
get the same message when trying to open the raw file through elements.
and finally!
when i go to the actual file, right click and open with photoshop, i get
All this happens when i also go through the automated process of 'elements/update' to get the latest camera raw plugin.
It also confirms that i have the latest version (6.4.1) when i go to Photoshop Elements / About Plugin / Camera RAW
Elements is working fine in all other areas. I have even managed to get hold of a .dng file and opened that up fine...
Any ideas, anyone?

Possible Bug - Photoshop CS6+Windows 8 Batch Editing

I do a lot of Android Development from maintaining roms to making themes for the android device. I am attempting to batch edit over a thousand png files at a time using photoshop cs6 on windows 8. The issue I have is when batching, the 1st 10 images save and close and the rest stay open, eventually causing photoshop to crash or causing me to reboot my computer due to 2000mb of memory used from open images. I was just wondering if this was a bug or if I am doing something wrong, the images turn out great, just would like the images closed when finished in photoshop, thanks.

Photoshop Elements 11 Costco speciaal edition

Photoshop Elements or Lightroom for editing Jewellery?

Hi there,
I am new to photo editing and wanted to know the best software that's best for editing jewellery. I am really not sure if Lightroom or Elements would be best and would appreciate anyones expert advise and experience. Maybe there is another software package more suitable, would appreciate anyones help.

As said above, definitely not Lightroom. You can't make the most of shiney things without selections and layers. As to whether PS or PSE would be better, well the problem with asking that here is you probably won't find anyone who knows anything much about Elements. But if put on the spot, I'd say get a monthly CC subscription. You'll never grow out of it.

Photoshop Elements 11 can't edit .avi files

I have avi files from my camera. I can run them on windows media player with no problems. I check the codec of the file and is MJPG. I ran G-SPOT and the codec is installed and working fine. My old version of elements (4) had no problems with these files. But elements 11 states codec isn't installed, etc
I am running windows 8 with a fresh install of elements 11.
Any thoughts ?

When one starts getting beyond the "standard" Video CODEC's, some NLE's (Non Linear Editors) handle things better, than others.
I have both CyberLink's PowerDirector and Magix Movie Edit Pro (albeit older versions), just because each handles some non-standard footage better, than my Adobe NLE's do. Nothing wrong with using a tool, that handles your footage better. We all do it.
Now, I do like the Adobe interface the best, but if one of my versions of Premiere does not do exactly what I need, I use another tool - the toolbox can never have too many options.
Good luck, and if you purchased PrE within 30 days, Adobe will refund your $.

Editing in IPhoto11 and in Photoshop Elements 9 - help!!

Hi, I am so confused - need help:
1.I uploaded RAW photos from Nikon D90 directly to Iphoto. I see them as NEF (raw).
2. I click on the photo to edit it FIRST in IPHOTO. I made some changes. It stays in NEF. Then, on the same photo, I choose from the arrow menu to use an external editing program (Photoshop Elements) to do more editing. Photoshop Elements opens up and suddenly the photo changed its format to Jpg format.
3. However, If I SKIP the step of editing the NEF in Iphoto, and just choose to edit the NEF in the external editing program, it open Camera Raw and the photo stays in NEF.
I would like to be able to edit the photo first in Iphoto and then ALSO in Photoshop Elements as NEF (raw). why does it change the format to jpg, as I described in phase 1?

Only your camera can save as NEF. It's not even a file, really, a Raw is just the dump of the data from your camera sensor.
When you process (or edit) a Raw it has to be saved as something else - in this case a Jpeg.
You can choose tiff in the Preferences if you prefer.
But there is no way to edit a raw file and then send it, as a raw, to another editor on any system.
You can also process your Raw with a 3rd Party app like ACR or Photoshop. But iPhoto does not handle this gracefully and it's a bit of a kludge.
First off set your preferred app as an external editor in iPhoto:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
Next: In the iPhoto Preferences -> Advanced, elect to use Raw with your External editor:

Now when you go to edit the Raw it will be sent to your external editor.
Now for the kludge:
You cannot save a Raw. The work you do must be output to a new file, in a new format (jepg, tiff, whatever). However, as the External Editor is making this new file iPhoto has no knowledge of its existence. Therefore you *must save it to the desktop and then import it back to iPhoto as a new file*.
This means that you will have your Original Raw and the processed version in iPhoto but they will not be recognised as version and original. iPhoto will see them as two separate shots.
