Photoshop elements 7 Help menu

Does anyone know why the Help Menu on Photoshop elements 7 is no longer working?

Thank you for the link. I have downloaded the PDF file and it does help a bit. However, it is not the same as clicking on Help and getting the options for Search, Index and Contents tabs that most Windows applications (including previous version of Elements and Photoshop CS2) have.
Why can't I just press F1 and get help that resides on my hard drive?

Having trouble 'replacing colour' in Photoshop Elements 12 + help does not work?

I was trying to use the 'replace colour' function as found by going :-
Enhance >
Adjust Colour >
Replace Colour
Not knowing how it worked, I tried the context sensitive help in light blue. 'Learn More About'
This would not load but gave me this response:-
Access Denied

This 'help' seems to work everywhere else [well at least in the places I have tried so far.]
So why is this? has anyone else had this specific area of HELP fail? I need to know is it just my system, is it accessing this HELP stuff over the net, or is it preloaded when you by the retail pack?
Course it would be in an area I can not make work!
Note Other areas of help in this general menu area work eg
i.e. the options either side of this all work fine.
Any views guidance welcome.
Other than reload the product! LOL I just don't have a spare week to waste getting it all going again!

Thanks i think I got it working of a fashion.
Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.
Sorry I can't post the pictures as the Lingerie Mfg, has me under non disclosure.
The scenario is:- say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!
Not a lack of interest in your post, but I was out, and tried to log in to this site; which I could do, on my iPad Air / 5 [whatever its the new one]. And tried to 'sign in' - but it just hung at the
"Join Adobe Community" adobe sign in splash screen! with he little whell spinning around continuously!!!
I have Safari on this iPad. Guess that is all it runs.
So technology is not my friend today!

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 DVD Menu

I read somewhere that I could make a DVD menu, in Adobe Elements for Adobe Premire Elements 10, but I am having troubling figuring out how to do so. Dose anyone know if there is a written or video tutorial for making a dvd template in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10? As that would really help me out, and I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

The Menu Sets in PrE are very involved, as PrE does a lot of semi-automatic authoring, so things have to be done a very specific way. This ARTICLE links to a thread in the Photoshop Forum, where I discuss the naming conventions, etc..
When on is working with PrE Menu Sets, I have several recommendations:
Only start with, and Save Copies of the Menu Sets.
Keep one of the Menu Set Templates handy, as a reference.
Remember that Photoshop can both create and edit Layer Sets (the structure of Buttons), while PSElements can only edit them, and not create them, unless something was changed with PSE 10.
Sub-picture Highlights (the Button "activation" part), can only be 2-bit, and cannot have any FX.
The Layer, and the PSD naming conventions are extremely important. Those special characters are what make the Menu Set work.
When done, Save into a new folder, withing the DVD Template folder hierarchy, and also do the PNG files, just like the DVD Templates have, so you can see them in PrE.

Editing in IPhoto11 and in Photoshop Elements 9 - help!!

Hi, I am so confused - need help:
1.I uploaded RAW photos from Nikon D90 directly to Iphoto. I see them as NEF (raw).
2. I click on the photo to edit it FIRST in IPHOTO. I made some changes. It stays in NEF. Then, on the same photo, I choose from the arrow menu to use an external editing program (Photoshop Elements) to do more editing. Photoshop Elements opens up and suddenly the photo changed its format to Jpg format.
3. However, If I SKIP the step of editing the NEF in Iphoto, and just choose to edit the NEF in the external editing program, it open Camera Raw and the photo stays in NEF.
I would like to be able to edit the photo first in Iphoto and then ALSO in Photoshop Elements as NEF (raw). why does it change the format to jpg, as I described in phase 1?

Only your camera can save as NEF. It's not even a file, really, a Raw is just the dump of the data from your camera sensor.
When you process (or edit) a Raw it has to be saved as something else - in this case a Jpeg.
You can choose tiff in the Preferences if you prefer.
But there is no way to edit a raw file and then send it, as a raw, to another editor on any system.
You can also process your Raw with a 3rd Party app like ACR or Photoshop. But iPhoto does not handle this gracefully and it's a bit of a kludge.
First off set your preferred app as an external editor in iPhoto:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Note that iPhoto sends a copy+ of the file to Photoshop, so when you save be sure to use the Save command, not Save As... If you use Save As then you're creating a new file and iPhoto has no way of knowing about this new file. iPhoto is preserving your original anyway.
Next: In the iPhoto Preferences -> Advanced, elect to use Raw with your External editor:

Now when you go to edit the Raw it will be sent to your external editor.
Now for the kludge:
You cannot save a Raw. The work you do must be output to a new file, in a new format (jepg, tiff, whatever). However, as the External Editor is making this new file iPhoto has no knowledge of its existence. Therefore you *must save it to the desktop and then import it back to iPhoto as a new file*.
This means that you will have your Original Raw and the processed version in iPhoto but they will not be recognised as version and original. iPhoto will see them as two separate shots.

Cannot edit lightroom 2 photo in photoshop elements 9, help please.

I am using OS 10.6.5. I have Lightroom 2.7 installed and I just purchased Photoshop Elements 9. I am trying to edit my Lightroom photos in Elements by going to the menu, selecting photos and then the Edit In, but I am not able to select any of the options as they are grayed out. I have uninstalled and re-installed both programs and that has not helped. Any suggestions? Let me know if more info is needed.

Photoshop Elements 9 "Help" crashes on Lion OS X

I just installed Photoshop elements 9 on my Lion Macbook Pro. I took all of the software updates and I cannot launch any of the help topics. Everytime I choose help from the menu a dialog prompts me to restore windows then the entire "help" application crashes! I've scoured the adobe website for assistance and landed here. Finding help seems to be incredibly difficult, especially finding help for the online help. Has anyone else had a similar experience? What can I do? Is reinstalling a good idea? Where can I go to send a request to adobe for this issue? I'd like to speak with a representative.

Photoshop elements 4 HELP with layers with layers

hello all I got photoshop elements 4 not to long ago and ive been playing with it but i just cant seem to grasp how to use layers.I would really appreciate any help anyone can suggest.Is there anywhere i can watch someone use layers? That would really help if i could see it being done. I bought the missing manual book and it seems really good, but i still dont understand layers. Thanks for any help.

As a start you can try the imbedded help that comes with the program. Use the "help" box in the top right hand corner and type in layer. Then follow the links in each section. I'm using pse3, one version prior to yours. I have been using the program on and off for a year and I find that only just now I'm starting to use layers more often. I also on occasion "Google" photoshop elements "layers" which will take you to many sites where you can read more. It's an exhaustive topic and one that I find comes more easily as I use it.
Also use the adobe search engine at this site and type in "layers". You can read up on what other people have learned in the various threads.
I also have the Missing Manual and two other books. I find they are good but seem even better after you work away at various photos. Nothing like hands on. Just remember to keep an original of your file.

Photoshop elements 6 help with making a clipping mask

I have a button template (for a pinback) I put into elements. What I would like to do is make a country flag button. Right now the flag image is sitting ontop of the template. I would like to make a clipping mask (I think that's what's it's called) so that the image covers the entire part of the button that will be seen when it is printed. Here is a link to a button. This is what I am trying to do, but am not having any luck. I would a appreciate a step by step guide. I am using photoshop elements 6 on a mac OSX (ver. 10.5.8

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10-HELP!!

I 'm have difficulty finding the serial number to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10. I would appreciate some help if it is available.
I have search all morning for the serial number for Adobe Photoshop Elements 0 purchased at a box store. I followed the directions on back of package; but found no help in the search. I did find several sights on line my computer warned "STOP" "DANGER". I do not appreciate these threats. In fact I now wonder if Adobe is a legitamate business or just another sight to steal money or ID's.

If you bought the disc version of PSE, your serial number is the 24 digit number on a sticker on the lower left back of the plastic case.
The websites you have been visiting are those that host bogus numbers for illegal copies of adobe products. Adobe doesn't control them--believe me, they'd love to wipe them out completely.
EDIT Did you buy PSE at Best Buy, by any chance? They do it a bit differently, if so.

Updated to windows 8.1 now can't install Photoshop Elements 12, HELP PLEASE

I am having such a terrible time getting Photoshop Elements 12 to install on my computer. I've had Dell software support and Adobe support's help but they could only get to the point of JUST the editor being installed. The organizer and the ability to go online never gets installed. After all the files are downloaded and the installation begins a box comes up and wants to uninstall the program. I couldn't get past this part but the software tech got past it. I have spent hours and days trying to get this installed. I've been a big fan of Adobe products but this is the first time I haven't gotten the HELP I need. It has to be a software issue because i've downloaded other programs with no problems. I even went out and brought an external cd/dvd burner and tried installing from the hard cd only to have the same problem pop up. If it helps, I got the Windows 8.1 update maybe this is the problem. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Notebook and the brightness control on Windows 8.1 not working correctly after an update. I would uninstall all the display adapters that are in the device manager and restart the Notebook. Check to see if if it put an adapter back in , right click on the driver and update.
If that does not help I would uninstall the Graphics drivers restart the Notebook and it should reinstall the correct driver for you.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating.

Photoshop Elements 11 help issue

I've just installed PHotoshop Elements from Apple App Store.
Every time I start the program and click <Help - Photoshop Elements Help> I get this message:
"Mac OS X needs to repair your Library to run applications."
I type my password and click <Repair>, then the help web page opens in my browser.
But I have to repeat that every time I use help after starting the program.
I've run the repair function on Disk Utility, but it didn't solve the problem.
How can I fix that?

It's not easy to say why this is happening as the app store version is a stand alone package which is quite different to the regular retail version.

Photoshop Elements 8 top Menu bar?

Hi everyone,
I have just bought Photoshop Elements 8 after using PSE5 for about 18 months or so. I am having difficulty in reading the top menu bar where the black text is shown against a very dark grey (dark sea grey in model aeroplane terms). Can any one tell me if it is possible to change the colour/shade of this top menu bar to some more easily visible combination, say something like PSE5, with which I had no problems?

Unfortunately, your only options are that, or the white on black (preferences>general), which is actually less awful for most people (a bit more contrast), but still not good.

Photoshop Elements 9 - Help!

My daughter's laptop became faulty and had to be returned. I thought I had removed photoshop elements 9 before returning it but now feel I must have messed up de-activation because I cannot use it on my desktop due to licence restrictions. I have elements on my laptop but want to add it to my mac and the original purchase included 2 licences. What can I do as I do not want to upgrade at this time. Any help would be appreciated.

new to photoshop! I want to download and install photoshop elements 11 on my PC but the instructions tell me to type 'www.adobe.com/go/getserial' which ive typed in and it says 'sorry, not avalible' so i dont know what to do..
