Photoshop Elements 7 Photomerge Panorama won't run

Opened case #0180993666 on 06/14/09, no reply from Adobe to date.

Others have reported that problem as well.  The only thing I've seen reported that may help is to do an uninstall/reinstall in what Adobe calls "simplified mode" with anti-virus and other services disabled, running as administrator (not just in an account with administrator priviliges), and manually removing all traces of PSE not removed by the uninstaller before reinstalling.  See this FAQ for details on how to do that:

Pagemaker is ancient, obsolete and unsupported. It was discontinued over 10 years ago. (Though why it is still sold is a mystery.)
If you want to run PageMaker, your best bet is to use a Win2K or WinXP PC.
Otherwise move to Indesign or look at Serif's PagePlus or Scribus.

  • Photoshop elements 11 albums won't sync

Photoshop Elements 11 albums won't sync with ipad using iTunes.
I was using PE10 and synced my albums using iTunes to my iPad 3 iOS 6.0 and 5.1 just fine. (itunes 10.7.0.21) I upgraded to PE11 and it goes into perpetual sync when albums are selected. I deleted some albums and added test albums in PE11 and those changes are not reflected in iTunes.
I worked with Apple Care for about 2 hours uninstalling all of the Apple software (iTunes, etc) and reinstalling. That did not fix it. Apple declared it an Adobe problem and suggested I call them.
I worked with Adobe about 45 minutes before they declared it an iTunes problem.
    Any ideas out there?

I solved the mystery. It had to do with the file metadata in the Photoshop Elements catalog. When I moved the catalog (pictures) from my old machine to the new machine, the path (folder location) of the images changed. So, although the catalog had cached thumbnails of the photos to display in Photoshop Elements (which tricked me into thinking that the path to the images was correct), the paths were actually wrong. All I had to do was “reconnect” the missing images (a feature in Photoshop Elements which corrects missing/wrong paths to images) and now everything works correctly (sync in iTunes).

Hello Donna, sorry you are having troubles. I wanted to check that you have Firefox set as your default browser on Windows? We have an article here which walks through how to do this:
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+make+Firefox+the+default+browser
If you do have Firefox set as the default, it might be a registry issue which would need to be configured.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Hardy Tasso,
Are you seeing this problem since first launch of PSE13 after installation or recently?
    Please try:
Keep Ctrl + Alt + Shift keys pressed while launching PSE13 Editor and click OK on the dialog that comes next.

  • Have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  I don't know what's wrong!

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and it's running very slow.  Have no idea what's wrong or how to fix.  Op Sys is Apple, OS X, ver 10.9.1.

    If so, then see:
    http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/28/photoshop-elements-and-os-x-mave ricks/
For PSE 11 you want to get
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 settings
    if you use organizer, also
    com.adobe.Elements Organizer.11.0.plist
    com.adobe.ElementsOrganizer11.plist
If you use raw, Adobe Camera Raw < version > Prefs
and any lockfiles with the same names.
Since you've already run PSE, go into the Saved Application States folder and delete any for PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.
Also go to the organizer preferences>media analysis and be sure everything there is off (except face recognitiion, if you use that).

  • Photomerge Panorama won't launch

I recently purchased and downloaded an upgrade from Photoshop Elements 3.0 to Photoshop Elements 7.0. I am running a Windows Vista Home Premium machine with more than enough power on all points to handle the program.
In PSE 7.0, all functions seem to work fine, except that I am unable to launch the File - New - Photomerge Panorama function. I have tried this many ways, with photos loaded in the Project Bin and without, and always receive the same error. The error says:
Error 1: Unable to create Window - Internal error.
    Line: 364
    -> var w = new Window(res);
After finding a couple instances of this error in other users posts, I have tried the suggested solution twice, which is to uninstall PSE 7 and
then reinstall after rebooting in simplified mode. I did a full, clean uninstall, including running CS3clean on my system, as well as the other steps found at http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#Try_Adobes_generic_troub leshooting. None of these steps -- the clean reinstall, starting in simplified mode or running as administrator yielded any different result. I always receive the error message above, which leads to a Windows dialogue box which suggests it is looking for a solution, but in the end simply closes the program.
I am desperate for a solution, as Photomerge Panorama is one of the key reasons I decided to upgrade to PSE 7.

So tonight I went back through all of the clean uninstall steps, including running the Windows Uninstall, manually deleting folders, and running CS3Clean multiple times at Level 2 until all was wiped clean.  Then in simplified / selective start-up mode, I downloaded the new Photoshop 8.0 and installed it.  So far it seems to work fine, including Photomerge Panorama.  Thanks for the help.

  • Elements 6.0 won't run from my external hard drive?

So I had Photoshop Elements 6.0 installed on my laptop. Long story short, my laptop died. I removed the hard drive, put it in a case and turned it into an external. When placed into another working laptop, Elements runs just fine. However, when I hook it up as an external, it refuses to run. Because I didn't make an icon for PSE on my desktop, I have to go into Program Files and under PSE 6.0 and find the application icon for it and double click. A message pops up saying "Licensing for this product has stopped working. - You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help."
    What gives?

If you take the hard drive and install it into a different computer and make this hard drive the system drive (i.e. the drive where the operating system is installed) then everything on that drive should work properly. If you take the hard drive and attach it to a computer that already has a system drive, nothing on that hard drive will work.
Mr Ellis had a more lucid explanation of this, but I'll add a bit to both of your treatises, hopefully this will add clarity, but who knows, anything can happen.
The >> BIOS << of a computer is responsible for the "boot order" of the machine. That is where the computer gets its instructions about where to look for the OS. If you summarily stuff a random HDD into a machine and expect it to boot from it, in most cases you will be disappointed. Since the drive didn't exist before, it likely won't appear first in the boot order, and gets ignored. So, to use any random HDD, you first would have to go into the BIOS and place it first in the boot order, then the computer would use the OS it found there to begin the session.
The trouble is, Windows takes note of hardware changes, and might ask you to reactivate Windows, when it realizes it is no longer in the original computer. Obviously the original hardware manifest is on the HDD being transported, and would be dramatically different from the hardware environment of the new machine.
In most cases, Windows will not perform up to expectations if it isn't reinstalled into the new host machine.
However you can retrieve the catalog file from the laptop HDD and place it in the new computer, and also copy the "My Pictures" folder to it. Since, in this case both the laptop "My Pictures" and desktop "My Pictures" are both likely on their respective "C:/" drives, in all likelyhood PSE would be able to open the catalog successfully.
I should add that in the case of running the OS from an external HDD, the first choice in the computer's boot order must be set to, "boot from USB device"!

  • Photoshop elements 4.0 won't work

Adobe photoshop 4.0 won't work. After installing a hp scanner, I upgraded a driver for it and had problems. So I did a system restore for oct 2009 and now photoshop won't work.I fully uninstalled all my adobe programs except active x then reinstalled photoshop elements. I have had a series of errors including "error reading configuration file" and "adobe help cannot start model effor subsystem 1" I searched this and found the updated help file and installed that.  So once I open adobe, i can pull a picture into it then it won't work. Every button I press just gives a ding sound.

You mean to say you are able to run but when you try opening any image it crashes. Can you try resetting the preferences:
Click on the EDITOR icon -- the quickly hold down CTRL+SHIFT+ALT keys, this will generate a dialogue box to delete settings.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Files Won't Open

Just got my 1st IMAC on Friday and am trying to figure it out.  I have downloaded a trial copy of Photoshop Elements 8 and am not having any luck opening the files I download.
The .zip file downloads into the downloads directory,  I double click on it (had to google how to unzip a .zip file on a mac) and move it to my folder called scrapbooking.  However, when I start elements and go to files > open file and go to the scrapbooking folder I can scroll up and down through the .jpeg and .png files and I can select a file to open, but the open button is greyed out and it won't open.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Wait, wait. You're not installing Elements at all, by the sound of it. PSE does not install by drag and drop. Get that installer out of the scrapbooking folder (for your general info, programs need to go into the applications folder, not wherever you like. Sometimes it doesn't matter, but any program that has any kind of update function will not ever find itself if you put in some random place.)
Starting from the zip file: double click (click once if you're accessing via the downloads stack in the dock) to unizp it. Find the unzipped file and double click that to mount the disk image. Double click the disk image. Double click Setup in the files you see there to run the installer. Do NOT change the installation location from what PSE suggests.
However, your post is very unclear--I can't tell for sure if you already did install it in the wrong place, in which case you will need to uninstall it before doing all this. Uninstall by means of the uninstaller, which for PSE 8 is in the program's folder.
Apple has some very helpful videos for switchers on their website.

  • Photoshop Elements 8.0 won't open, keep getting an Error message from windows

I am running Windows Vista on a toshiba laptop and I've owned the software for a little over a year now, everything was working quite fine the usual few crashes every once and a while. Though I had thought to myself oh well here it's time for some new photoshop brushes and fonts. So I went to sites such as Dafont.com and Deviantart.com to get brushes and fonts. Installed them all and tired to open up photoshop Elements afterwards and I kept getting an error message as shown in the picture.
Any help would be appericated, Also added information  that may help, Yes I have tired removing the brushes out of the folder and running the program, and yes I have tried removing the fonts I installed. Neither worked. I also have not Restarted my laptop computer since I had installed that brushes/fonts.
    Thank you for looking/reading/answering!
    Have a nice day. (:

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on two computers running different Operating Systems

    Dear Customer Support Team!
I have the following questions and hope to get your soonest response:
Can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements, I bought recently, on my two different computers; one is PC running Windows 7 and the other is iMac running Mac OS 10.6?
As my Adobe Photo Shop Elements 10 came bundled with the 'Trial version'  of Adobe Premier Elements 10, can I purchase the 'Serial Number' only and how to do it?
    Thank you very much indeed.
    Best regards,
    Steven Setiawan.

Can I install Adobe Photoshop Elements, I bought recently, on my two different computers; one is PC running Windows 7 and the other is iMac running Mac OS 10.6?
    Yes, PSE is cross-platform, anyway.
As my Adobe Photo Shop Elements 10 came bundled with the 'Trial version'  of Adobe Premier Elements 10, can I purchase the 'Serial Number' only and how to do it?
You just buy a normal license as a download, if you so desire. This gives you a serial and a download option, the latter of which you then of course will not need and can simply input the serial in your disc install.

  • ? Photoshop Elements 8 Organizer won't open on Windows Vista ?

I installed Photoshop Elements 8 onto a Windows Vista computer and registered. The Organizer opened with broken thumbnails throughout and I could not update the thumbnails. Therefore, I closed the Organizer and opened it again, hoping it would clear up. Instead, the Organizer would not open at all, and I've not been able to open the Organizer since.
Despite several Support cases, Tech Support could not help. They said to uninstall Elements and reinstall it, but when I uninstalled, the disc software screen said I must first deactivate my serial # by launching Elements 8 and going to Help > Deactivate.
However, when I launched Elements 8, a screen appeared with a choice of either a free trial or to enter my serial #. I entered my serial # and got a red "X", and it would not accept the serial #. Tech Support said there is nothing wrong with my serial #.
Tech Support then said to download the Trial Version. I did that, but could not open the trial version either!

"The following applications are using files that need tro be updated by this setup.

So it thinks my Organizer is open and using files, and it's not open. I can't get it to open!
I clicked RETRY and got the same message.
I clicked IGNORE and it was installing files, got almost to the end, said "registering product", then said "rolling back action" and started going backwards.
I had uninstalled my Elements 7 software because I intended to now use Elements 8. I decided to reinstall Elements 7 to use that while I was dinking around with version 8, and now it gave me the same message:
the serial # is in error, or is already in use by someone else!
    Now I can't use either 7 or 8.
HELP! Does anyone know how to deactivate a serial # when the software has already been uninstalled? Can it be done?

    Hi Ankush
    Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately, I can't try out your suggestion until next summer, because in early November I moved to my winter home in Florida. I left my Vista computer in Colorado Springs in its sorry state of nonworking Adobe Elements versions 7 and 8. I took the software discs with me.
When I arrived in Florida I bought a new computer.  I had left Colorado without being able to deactivate the Elements 8 serial number, so would not be able to use that software disc in Florida. Therefore, I asked Adobe for a refund. (Some of the tech support cases regarding the problem were still open and unanswered.)  Adobe replied that the month warrranty had run out so they wouldn't give me a refund. I argued a little, then gave up.
Therefore, I bought a new Elements 8 software program. And the old XP Florida computer contains Elements 7 and I have the disc.
The new problem: I must know how to DEACTIVATE a serial number before I dare install the new Elements 8 softtware, in case anything goes wrong, or in case I have to reinstall Windows 7 for some reason, which would wipe out any 3rd-party software. I also must know how to DEACTIVATE the Elements 7 serial number on my old XP computer so that I can install it on my new computer.
I opened a CHAT session with Adobe and asked how exactly to do this, because their FAQs and other information aren't at all clear. Here's what the tech said to do. Launch Adobe. You will see "Help" on the "toolbar". Click "help" and select "deactivate". Well, all I get when I launch is a Welcome Screen and there is no toolbar with help there. So I thought, maybe he means, open the Organizer or Editor and look for the Help menu. I opened the Organizer, clicked on Help, and there was no deactivate option listed. So I opened the Editor and clicked on Help and there was no deactivate option listed.
I just opened a case with Adobe asking what I have to do to deactivate a serial number. I don't see why they can't explain this.
Have you any idea how this is done?
