Photoshop elements 7 raw files acess

A real newbie.
I know that you should be able to view or see and change using the sliders etc when I have a photo downloaded from a canon450d
whta do you do ?????

What to do depends on what you to do exactly with the image. you can apply various sliders provided in the camera raw plugin and various editing options provided by the plugin. you can open the image in editor in case you want to edit more or save the image from the plugin in case you are done with image editnig.
cheers

Yes, if you have PSE 11 (not the mac app store version). You will need to go to Help>Updates in the editor to update ACR to 7.3.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 RAW Files

How do I import RAW files from my Sony RX100 11 to Adobe Photoshop Elements 10? I think I need a plug in called ARF 8.2.   If this is correct how do I purchase/install it?

Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements use a free Adobe plugin called Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) to read Raw files from cameras. Different versions of ACR work with different versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
Since camera manufacturers all use their own proprietary Raw file formats for every model of camera they make, ACR must be updated for each new camera released on the market.
The Sony RX100 II was first supported in ACR 8.2
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Unfortunately ACR 8.2 is only compatible with Elements 12 and newer. It is not compatible with Elements 10 so downloading ACR 8.2 will not help you.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
    Some options:
Upgrade to Elements 12 (paid upgrade) which can use the current ACR (version 8.4) and therefore will open RX100 II Raw files.
Download the free Adobe DNG Converter, convert all the Raw files from the RX100 II to DNGs then open the DNGs in Elements 10.

  • Photoshop Elements 6 + Raw files

I have a new Canon EOS 5D mark 2 and I cannot get PSE 6 to find the CR2 RAW files from this camera. I have downloaded the update to
camera RAW 5.4 and installed it on 64 bit VISTA.
    CAn anyone help????????????????

    please use the link :
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407344.html and follow the instructions carefully. ensure that you replace the original camera raw plugin and do not rename the plugin. also PSE8 being 32 bit application does not support
64 bit plugin. try using the 32 bit camera raw plug in and see the results

  • Windows 8.1, Photoshop Elements 11, Raw 7.4.0.137 and it will not let me open .CR2 from canon 70D

Can someone point me to what I need to do in order to open "raw" images from Canon 70D, in .CR2 format?
    I'm on Windows 8.1,
    Photoshop elements 11
    Raw plugin of 7.4.0137
    thanks

    Hi,
The 70D requires camera raw 8.2 which is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 11 - you have the last for version 11.
    You can either
    1) Buy the latest version of Photoshop Elements
    2) Use the free Adobe DNG converter to take the CR2 files and converts them to DNG files. The DNG files can then be processed by Photoshop Elements 11

Very important : your catalog does not contain your pictures. They are where you have imported them in your computer. If they are all under a master folder like 'My Pictures' or 'Pictures', you should set your backup software to backup those folders.
The catalog itself is mainly a database keeping all the information about your pictures : location, keywords, ratings, albums...
It's a folder containing the dababase and several other components. You find its location looking in the help section, system info.
The integrated backup / restore process in Elements saves both your media files and the catalog.

  • Photoshop elements 6 raw image problems.

PROBLEM 1:  I recently purchased a Canon 7D and got a free copy of PSE6, and I had to upgrade to camera raw 5.6 to view raw files.  I am now able to view raw files, but still get a error; "DLL c:\Programfiles\adobe\photoshop elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\Camera_raw_5_6\win64\camera raw .8bi is not a valid windows image. Please check against your installation diskette."  I'm not sure what's going on does anyone have any advice?
PROBLEM 2:  I took some raw pictures in B&W and when I view them in PSE6 they come out in color.  I'm not sure what the problem is any advice?  Is this problem related to problem 1?

The jpeg has been processed as a B&W shot already in the camera. The raw file is the raw data--the three color channels, unprocessed. Third party converters, like ACR will ignore any conversion settings you made in camera. Only the manufacturer's software can read those.

  • Elements four, Raw file

I currently have Elements 4 on my mac laptop, I am having a problem loading raw photos from desktop to adobe bridge or elements 4. I get a message that reads "Could not complete your request because photoshop does not recognize this type of file", does anyone know how I can get bridge to recognize the raw files?

It's possible that your camera isn't supported by the version of ACR you currently have.  Check here to find out the version of ACR you need for your copy of Elements.

  • ELEMENTS 10 - RAW FILE

Elements 10 - Just bougfht a new camera, Canon 70d. Elements 10 doesn't recognise the raw files even though the same file extension is the same as my other Canon 60d. Advice please.
    Reg

Every camera model must be supported individually so the extension being the same doesn’t matter as much as Adobe having profiled the camera and added support.
PSE 10 will never be updated to support the 70D.  You’ll need PSE12 which should be available in a month or two and make sure it is updated to ACR 8.2 at that time.
In the mean time there is a beta (release candidate) of the DNG Converter 8.2 that you can use to create DNGs from your CR2 file, and those should open in older versions of the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in such as what comes with PSE10.  Keep in mind that the support for the 70D is “preliminary” which usually means the color profile will be tweaked to give a better conversion for the final release.
You can also use LR 5.2 RC which has preliminary support and use Edit In Photoshop Elements with LR Adjustments.
The release candidates for LR 5.2 RC and the DNG Converter 8.2 RC are available at Adobe Labs:

  • Photoshop Elements 8-RAW photos

I am using photoshop elements 8 and I am trying to pull my RAW files from iPhoto over. But I can't pull them into elements 8 as RAW PHOTOS, it says that it .doesnt recognize this type of fIle...has this happened to anyone...please help!

For RAW file updates for PE, you'll need to go to Adobe. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5390
If your Camera's not listed there, try the Camera Raw overview page; you may need an earlier update.
Apple RAW downloads are for iPhoto and Aperture only.

  • Photoshop corrupting CR2 RAW files

I opened about 80 CR2 RAW files in Photoshop to preview, tweak a few, and export as PSDs. Clicking the down arrow to see each pic, three different times I got the twirling beachball. After waiting a while I force quit PS and when I opened them again the file that was twirling became un-readable. PS says "File format module cannot parse the file." What gives? I've never seen this before on other versions of PS. I'm on Lion and am running the trial of Design Premium.

Mr D\'Errico, I think that we misunderstood each other. You are more than welcome to share your experience here. I am and have been moderator on several forums online, but, as you might have read from other's comments, I am not known to be confrontational, au contraire...
Sorry if you tool offense, I did indeed mistakenly believe you had similar issues than the OP, when you were in fact sharing previous experience.
But, I really did not mean anything bad, and am flabbergasted to the extend on which you took my posts as being confrontational, as they were intended as being helpful, as most of my posts are!
I genuinely tried to explain the reasoning of my mention of the Elements forum, in my second post, by explaining that several Elements users seeking for help arrive here, and we usually redirect them where users with more experience with that product hang out. I did not mean at all to wave you off of this place, as, everybody is welcome to hang out everywhere they want in the forums, share experience/knowledge, like you did in your first post; I just tried to explain why I made the elements forum notice in the first place.
As for my remark about optical disks, sorry, but I will stand on it: (besides my typo :"small" when I meant "slow" ): it would be quite slow to read them directly in ACR, or to write the XMP (if writing is allowed) compared to reading/writing them from the Hard drive, especially, as you mention rightfully,  when some optical drives can have issues, thanks again for reporting it.
Now, can we please get back to the problem at hand? If you want, you can contact me by private message, I'd really want to settle this misunderstanding. I'll stop the coffee if you do, ok?
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Noel, Dag, Trevor and Jeff!

  • PS ELEMENTS and raw files

I have PS Elements 7. I cant open raw files from a memory card shot in a Canon 6D. I went to help in Elements, and under camera raw plug-in, it says my version is 4.5.0.175. Do I upgrade this, and how? Am I also going to need a DNG converter?

You need ACR 7.3 according to this list
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
So I don't think you are going to be able access the CR2 files directly from Elements.  (This is actually the Photoshop forum, and we don't know much at all about Elements.  You can find the right forum at Photoshop Elements)
So you are going to need to install the free DNG converter, but it is no real hassle.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 CR2 files

    Hello,
I have a Canon 50D and I'm trying to get my Photoshop Elements 7 to read the CR2 files- I use Windows 7 64 bit. I went to help- updates within the program and it says no new updates, so I tried again to open a CR2 file and I get this error: Cannot open because its the wrong type of file.
So I searched Elements 7 CR2 and got the downloads page: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows
Downloaded the 5.5 update, it installed correctly, put the Win 64 Camera RAW.8bi file into the plugins folder and still I get that error. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

    Bryanar,
The Camera Raw 5.5 update does contain the 64 bit flavor as well which is specifically for PS. The instructions for the installation for the 64bit variant are posted on the ACR 5.5 download page and are as follows:
    Manual 64-bit installation on Windows®:
If you are using Photoshop CS4 as a 64-bit application, you can use the Adobe Update Manager to install Camera Raw 5.5. If a manual update of the plug-in is required, please install the Camera Raw plug-in in two locations:
    a. The CameraRaw.8bi found at the top level of the zip folder should be placed in the following directory:
    Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats
    b. The CameraRaw.8bi found in the folder labeled 64-bit should be placed in the following directory:
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats
If you are trying to use Camera Raw 5.5 for Elements I would suggest just placing the plug-in found on the top level of the zip folder to the following directory
Photoshop Elements 7.0: Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats

  • Will Photoshop Elements12 accept RAW files directly from Sony rx100ii

I already own Photoshop Elements 10 but it won't accept raw files from my recently purchased Sony rx100ii. My question is: If I upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 does this program allow RAW downloads directly from this camera?

    Hi,
According to the table Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras the RX100 II is supported by camera raw 8.2.
PSE 12 can be updated to include that version of camera raw. If you want, you could always check it out by downloading the trial version of PSE 12. The trial version can easily be converted to a full version if you decide to buy it.
The other alternative is to download & install the free Adobe DNG converter. Use that to convert your raw files to DNG format which can then be used by PSE 10.
