Photoshop elements 8.0 needs de-activating

Looked under the help menu and no deactivation link
On going to uninstall theres no de-activate option either
Anyone know how to de-activate elements 8?

That isn't necessarily from anything you've done. People sometimes get that error when it's only been installed on one computer. Contact activation support:

Photoshop Elements 7: Newbie Needs Drop Shadow Help, Please

Hello.
I'm brand new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and need help with the Drop Shadow feature, please.
I've read the documentation, but it's not crystal clear to me, so maybe someone can guide me through it.
I want to create text on a blank white canvas, and add a little bit of drop shadow to it. That's all I want to do--plain and simple.
I can create the text, but I can't for the life of me find any drop shadow options.
The documentation I'm using is the on-line, web-based help. I type in Drop Shadow in Search, and select Add Text to a Slide.
The third step says, "In the Properties palette, set any of the following options" and then offers some options, including Drop Shadow and Drop Shadow Color.
I'll be darned if I can locate the Properties palette. Obviously, I'm not well-versed with Photoshop, so if anyone can just steer me towards this feature, I'll take things from there.
I know this is probably rock-bottom basic, but I'm stumped. Thank you!

I need a lot more help with this than I thought.
The problem I'm having is this: After creating the drop shadow effect, when I try to save the image as a transparent GIF, it quite simply.... looks horrible.
Here is what I'm doing in detail:
1. New/Blank File.
2. Blank File is set to transparent. (Is this the right way to make a transparent GIF?)
3. Creating text.
4. Cropping text.
5. Selecting drop shadow effect.
Now, here's where I get confused. Do I just select File/Save As, or File/Save For Web?
When I just use File/Save As, and select the GIF format, the drop shadow effect in the final file looks horrible when I embed the image into a web page. The text looks good, and the file is transparent, but the effect is ugly.
When I try to use Save for Web, there is a Before/After screen. The Before side looks decent; the After screen looks horrible, too.
So, now I don't know what to do. Can you or anyone guide me through this a bit further, please? Thank you! Jd

Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

As you open Photoshop, hold Control + Alt + Shift (or Command + Option + Shift on a Mac). That will trigger a preferences reset dialog, Photoshop will go back to default state when you do that.

Solved! Tried everything in the support documents and none of it worked. Massive frustration with Adobe Chat staff who know nothing and just kept telling me to look at the support documents over and over. They also gave me a contact number in Australia that has a recorde d message saying the product is not supported! What is that about?
Finally Anand from Adobe tech support called me (from when I reopened the original support case that gave me the serial number).
Just had to rename folder SLCache in c:\program files(x86) and reaccept the EULA and reactive. Now everything works fine. Way to hard.

You should be able to re-download the PSE10 downloadable-installer from your Adobe account, if you log in to that—I’ve only ever purchased DVDs so cannot give you click-by-click instructions. Here is what an Adobe-chat rep just told me:
“If you purchase the download version product you may re download the product from you Adobe account. If you purchase the DVD version and somehow you lost your DVD we can provide trial download link depends on the situation. we are able to provide you the download link if the download link is available on Adobe server.”
If you have an issue figuring out what to do, then you can start up your own chat session by clicking the Chat Now button on the bottom of this page:

They will probably want to know things about your purchase including your serial number so be ready with that if you do start a chat session.

Photoshop Elements 8: why too many activations? [was:activation]

Recently had new computer and the man that set it up for us loaded on our photoshop elements 8, the old computer was dumped, so is no longer in use. However when I try to use the programme it tells me that I have too many activations on it. I am not aware that this programme is in use on any other computer, please advise

Photoshop elements 12 redemption code not active

I entered the redemption code from a just opened box (purchased some time ago) and response says code is not active. Customer support just sends be me in circles. How can I get the serial number?

My laptop was replaced at work with a new laptop. I have the serial number but do not have the windows downloaders for Photoshop Elements 5. I see where you can get the downloader for 7. Can I still get it for 5 somewhere?

As far as I know, 7 is the furthest back that is available.

I have Photoshop Elements 13. My laptop does great with opening JPEG pictures, but now I want to start working with RAW photo's which are 20meg. They open very slowly with Elements 13 even with 8 gig of RAM. So now it is time to look at buying another computer. I am on a shoe string budget but want to be able get the job done. Can someone make a recommendation?
Also, can I run Photoshop Elements 13 on Windows 7? I am currently using Windows 8.

Help! Photoshop Elements 9. Need to resize images to clone parts! Resize isn't working!

Trying desperately to clone the sky from one painting image to the other. The images are in different scales/sizes - and tho I TRY to resize them the same, the darn resize will NOT cooperate! How do I scale them the same so I can clone?!

Frequently there are several ways to do things in Elements. The method propounded by Mark using a mask would be my #1 choice as well, but from the posts it would appear that it will not work for you at this time. The program has a steep learning curve.
Try the following:
Overview:
Select the structure from the sharp picture, and superimpose it in the same location on the fuzzy picture.
Work flow:
Open sharp picture
Access the lasso tool, and make a selection of the structure. See the help file for use of the tool.
To start, click on an edge of the building, navigate around the structure until there are "marching ants" all around the area, indicating that it is an active selection. Hint: On the tool's option bar at the top, select the 2nd icon (add to selection) as you work.
Go to Edit>copy. This will put it on your computer's clipboard
Open the fuzzy picture
Go to Edit>paste. Now you should see the structure on a separate layer
Access the move tool, and using the corner handles resize the (sharp)selection which you just pasted, to cover the "fuzzy" structure. Hold down the shift key while you do this.Position the selection - use the arrow keys on the keyboard for small nudges.

Log into your adobe store account. EDIT But it will only be there if you bought it as download. If you've lost your discs, it won't be.
