Photoshop Elements 8 3GB memory limit

Folks,
I'd ask this over on Adobe's forum, but it seems to hang redirecting in a loop whenever I try to login.
Perhaps someone knows here. I'm using Photoshop Elements 8 and it won't allow me to access more than 3GB (although I have 8GB installed on my iMac). Is this an OS limitation? Program? Is it a 64 bit application?
Anyone know if Elements 9 would allow me to use more of my memory?

All versions of PSE are only 32 bits, so yes, it's a program limitation.

Installing Photoshop Elements 12 from memory stick

I purchased a copy of Photoshop Elements some time ago and it was running on my last computer with no problem. I now have bought a new iMac running OSX 10.9.5. and as I did not have a backup copy I transferred Elements to a memory stick and tried to install this on my new computer. I get the message after putting in my serial number that it thinks this is not a genuine Adobe product and installation aborts. What can I do?

I just clean installed my computer and after done my Photoshop Elements tells me Activation limit re

I clean install my computer many times, two times already just this year alone. My copy of Photoshop Elements 10 now tells me my Activation Limit has been reached, but I have only had Photoshop since 05-11-2012. I am always clean installing my computer and many times upgrading the hard drive, why are you only letting me reinstall two times? Do I have to go back to Costco and buy another copy of Photoshop? If so I guess I may be done with all things Adobe. Again, I am always clean installing my hard drive, at least once a year. This year twice so far because I just updated to Windows 8, but now this problem with Activation.

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported.

Fonts Not Rendering Properly in Photoshop Elements 11

For some odd reason, Elements stopped rendering my fonts properly. For instance, if I use an old standby like Rage Italic, the lettering is not smooth rather choppy like an old System type font. I've tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but nothing seems to work. I also reset the tools and still nothing.

I'm not experiencing your problems but the Standard font in Safari is set to Times 16 and Fixed-width font is set to Courier 13.

Re-Installing Photoshop Elements after getting new memory

I had Elements 7 for a couple years but my computer had to have a new memory put in. I had to put back all my programs including Photoshop but this time, I can't make the Editor work. It keeps closing even after removing and re-installing it. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

Photoshop elements 11 memory RAM

Hi there,
I have photoshop elements 11. When I try to save a picture I get the message not enough memory RAM. I have plenty of space left on my hard disk and I have no other programs running.
I'm trying to work to a photoshoot that I need to finish this week so please how can I solve this problem?

Are you able to drag a source image into the editing window or select any of the tools e.g. pencil or eraser. If not use the menu in Expert mode and go to:
Edit >> Preferences >> General
Click the button “Reset Preferences on next launch”
Then close the application and re-start.
Let us know if that makes any difference.

Photoshop Elements 10 has suddenly stopped being able to read from camera memory card

For no apparent reason Photoshop Elements 10 can no longer read from my camera card reader. This happens both when I load the card in to my PC card reader or when I load to a card reader connected via USB.
I get the message "Elements Organiser cannot obtain files from this device. Please ensure that this deviCS is connected properly, or that the batter is charged and try again.
This happens despite the pictures loading and even the first one shows as a thumbnail. I can get around this by loading the photos in to Windows 7 and then bring them in to Elements from their file location.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Please disregard this. I tried everything but restarting my computer & when I did, it downloaded all my messages.

New computer - activation limit reached for Photoshop Elements 10

I purchased a new PC with Windows 7. I had the C drive in the old computer installed into the new computer as a D drive. Photoshop Elements had been installed on the old C drive. I then installed Photoshop Elements on the C drive in the new computer. I'm now receiving an Adobe Activation screen that states "This serial number has already been activated on two computers. You must correct this problem to continue. To correct and successfully activate this product you must deactivate one of the other activated copies." Instructions for deactivation state the it's an option located under the Help tab. Unfortunately in both versions of PS 10 running on this computer the "Deactivate" option is grayed out.
Now what? Should I uninstall the version on my C drive, and will this fix the problem?

Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements Causes My Computer to Cut Out on Booting UP!

I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer running windows 7 64 bit. I did not appreciate the problems. The first time that I installed it the computer shut down as soon as it was loaded and from then onwards it shut down within seconds of the computer booting up into windows. I used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed. The computer kept on switching off after windows had booted up. Took it into the technician who thought the PSU was at fault and he put in a new unit. The computer then worked fine until I installed Elements 10 and again the computer switches off as soon as windows as booted up. I have again used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed, still it switches off shortly after booting into windows. What can I do to get things to work properly? I have a brand new computer that I am unable to use as a result of installing Elements 10. I am typing this on my old computer running Vista 34 bit with Elements 10 installed and all working well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have had a similar experience - Elements organizer crashed and even when not running, my computer froze after a few minutes. My PC had never crashed before this installation.
I found a solution though...
After a little sleuthing using task manager, I found that all the memory in my system (4GB) gets suddenly hogged (within seconds) by the "Elements Organizer" process (3GB) ... I found the service correspponding to this process, "Adobe Active File Monitor v10", stopped it and set autostart to manual. My PC no longer crashes.
I think Adobe needs to look into this one - it has all the hallmarks of a nasty memory leak.
A couple of possible clues as to why certain systems don't take well to this service:
- I have a few very large video clips (2hours+) on my PC
- I installed trial products like light room, CS5 before settling on Photoshop+Premiere Elements - could leftovers after uninstalling cause conflicts?
- I have other video editors on my system that I don't use, like Corel VideoStudio and Sony Vegas.

Windown 8.1 Photoshop Elements 13-import failed???

I am having problems importing the pictures that i already have on my computer into Photoshop Elements-organizer. I add the folders I want to import and every time it goes through finding those pictures in the preview...but at the end I get the error "IMPORT FAILED".
I also get a message that says that 70 files are already in my catalog and are not supported. I have no idea what I can do to get this program to work. At this point, the program is useless if I can get my photos imported. Please help.

Photoshop Elements is already running...

I recently upgraded to version 10 from version 7. After I exit, I can't start it again: it says it is already running. PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe appears in task manager; if I kill the process I can start it again, but this is not how it should work. Is this a known bug?
Another problem is that Open Recently Editted File only shows 2 files, even though I've done hundreds. Under Preferences, Recent Open Files List is set to 10. Does recent have a time limit?

I found this answered under "Photoshop Elements 10 won't open once closed unless computer rebooted" It is a bug; the work-around is to create a short cut to the editor exe. Apparently there is a bug in the launcher app.

Conversion of Photoshop Elements Catalog from 12 to 13 fails

On installing Photoshop Elements 13 I attempted to convert my catalog from Photoshop Elements 12. The conversion fails with the following dialog:
I have followed all the steps outlined in this article (Troubleshoot catalog backup, upgrade | Organizer | Elements 6 or later) and still the catalog will not convert. The pse-conversion-log file states the following:

When I made the copy of the catalog there was a file that could not be found and copied across, when I looked for it in the original catalog I found it was called b2eeza-18684.xml . So I thought I would try and convert the copy without removing the breeze data folder because this file (which may be corrupt) does not exist in the copy of the catalog. It worked.
One note, in order for the copy of the catalog to work with Find More Catalogs the original catalog needed to be removed from the default location that I had it in. Elements seemed to detect that it and the copy were the same catalog and would not add the copy to the list of catalogs that could be converted. Once I had moved the original catalog to another folder I was able to add the copy.

Unable to View .mod files in Photoshop Elements 11, can see they are there but no picture, I import them into Premiere and all OK ?

I have hundreds of .mod files which are supported but I am unable to view them on my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. I cant see the picture icons as pictures or see the vision when i select them? I am running the latest Windows 8.1 PC with heaps of Ram and memory. If I import the files into Premiere they play fine?

I did re-set the prefs - but to no avail
I checked and my graphics driver and audio is all up to date.
No sure how to verify Windows Media Player's hardware acceleration options. I opened WMP Options /Perfformance tab and under Cd the DirX tab is checked.
Running Windows Vista - so does the same caution apply regarding a re-install of Windows Media Components and DirectX ?
Appreciate your help with this somewhat frustrating issue. I am converting some old 8mm film to avi with the hope of doing some edits then burning to DVD.
