Photoshop Elements 8 (Accidently Clicked Upgrade)

My name is Tina. I use to have Adobe Elements 4 a few years back. A month ago, I downloaded a free trial of Photoshop Elements 8 from the Adobe website. After only 5 days left on the trial, I decided to purchase the program. I purchased the program from the welcome screen and it took me to "Adobe Volume Licensing". There was two options, upgrade or full. I choose upgrade thinking I could do that since I had 4.0. Once the ordered was processed, I downloaded the upgrade version instead of the full. Now, neither (the free trial and the upgrade) is doing anything. So, I am curious here if anyone can help me with getting the full version. I tried talking to the support line but no one seems to understand what I need.
I am hoping someone can help me since I don't want to waste $80 for nothing!

Thanks for the help! I'm in the process now to get it fix. I had to do a "Letter of Destruction". Basically destroying all evidence of the PSE8 I had before. To do this, I called them. From there, I printed and filled out the needed information and scanned it back. I then send it back to them. Everything should be OK once they have written me back.

Make sure Readr is closed. Go to the Applications form, look for the Adobe Reader icon, double click on it, and follow the lead. Restart Reader when finished.

Go to to the image I'm working on --- selected the image, the clicked on edit. When nothing happened I double clicked the image. Still elements didn't open. Then I opened the Elements editor, went back to iphoto and tried the entire process again. the photo still didn't open on Elements 13 for editing.
I have 3 Elements 13 books as well as looked on line--all my references say the exact same thing ---- iPhoto>Preferences>advanced>edit in external program>photoshop Elements
I uninstalled and reinstalled both iPhoto as well as Elements.
I spoke with application technical support. There appears to be nothing wrong with my copy of iPhoto. However there is no support from Adobe. I waited for over 1.5 hours for chat support several days ago, and finally gave up.

You are probably choosing the obvious file rather than the correct file as the PSE editor. The actual editor is hidden away inside the Support Files folder. The PSE file at the top level of the PSE folder in Applications is just an alias for the welcome screen and what you're describing is exactly what happens when you choose that. You want this one:

I recenlty purchased Photoshop Elements 10 as an upgrade to an older version.It is plainly stated on the box that "you will need a licensed copy of any version of Adobe Photoshop Elements." Somewhere on the Internet I saw that it would be necessary to have your old registration number. The upgrade version is $20 cheaper than the new version.
When I installed the upgrade, nowhere did it ask for my old registration number.
So my first question is did I get the full version of Photoshop Elements 10?
My second question is why the difference in price between these two versions if an older registration number is not necessary to install the program?
Tech support was no hope with these questions.

Well, I think it strange that Adobe doesn’t care if I had a previous version. It sounds like a rip off to me, not for me but for the guy who pays the full price. . And tech support could have cared less.
And, yes, it works, but what a shock! Not at all user friendly like the previous version I have.

Photoshop elements 6 how to upgrade

I was wondering what I need to do to upgrade from photoshop elements 6 to photoshop elements 8? Would it be possible to use an upgrade plan, and what are they?

Well, if you're going to install on the same computer, virtually nothing. Just install PSE-8 and it will find and convert your catalog to its own specification.
Before you make the install, you should reconnect all disconnected files and recover your catalog.
Also, if you have not written the tag info to the files, before making the switch wouold be time for this.
The three operations I've described can all be found under the "File" menu.

Photoshop Elements 6 to 8 Upgrade?

Please help and advise. I currently have Photoshop Elements 6. Is there an upgrade to Photoshop Elements 8, or something highter than 6?
Or do I need to purcahse a new Photoshop 8 program altogether? If so, what becomes of PSE6?

Photoshop Elements 8 is the latest version.
There is no upgrade.
If you decide to install PEv.8, I would leave PEv.6 in place until you are sure that the catalog has transferred satisfactorily.
You should also evaluate if your equipment satifies the system requirements of the program.

Reinstalled Photoshop Elements 11 Double click?

Im reinstalling PSE 11 and was told to just double click on the PSE in the downloads....it pops up faded then disappears Never opens anything for the install:( Very frustrated!

The PSE 11 download consists of 2 files - One with .exe extension and the other with .7z extension.
You need to download both the files and then double click the .exe file to start the installation.
Please make sure you have both the files downloaded and in the same folder.

Michael it is not necessary to install the previous version. You can enter the previous versions serial number as part of the installation process for Photoshop Elements 11 instead.

Deleted photoshop elements by accident how do I reinstall it since no CD to pop in

I was trying to clean out my computer because although it is just 2 months old with nothing on it, it keeps saying no disc space with the root being in the HD drive. The largest thing on it was the photoshop elements organizer. So I trashed it. I didn't know you and to have both for it to freaking run just the editing part, which is all I use. Urgh...so how do I reinstall this on my computer since unlike a PC there is no disc to reinstall it?? Please help!

Okay, by removing it without using the uninstaller you have made a big ol' bunch of work for yourself. First you will need to download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
After which you can go around and manually remove the bits left behind. Not only in Applications but also in your hard drive>library>application support>adobe and your username>library>preferences. You can't use spotlight to help you out; it's set up to skip these kinds of files.
Once all the detritus is gone, you can download the trial and reinstall using that. Just enter your serial number when asked.

Photoshop Elements 10 option-click issue

New install of Lion Server on a Mac Mini. It appears that the option-click key stroke to select a area of a photo to clone is not working. I get the error below on Elemens 9 and 10.
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point).
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse? i used Systems Preferences / Keyboard Prefernces /Show Keyboard viewere to see that when I depress the 'option' key it is actually being depressed. Is the click on the mouse being 'recorded'?
I would just give up and buy Apeture but I have too much invested in Photoshop (software and knowledge). Where should I complain about this issue? Apple Store? This forum?
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse? I'm going to install 10 (have 9 installed today) on my Mac Air and use it without a mouse to see if I have the same problem.
Why do I feel like I am blazing trails? I hate that feeling.

Installed Elements 10 trial on my Mac Air no issue. Converted my Magic Mouse over to my Mac Air via bluetooth. !AH AH!!!!!! Same problem. I think I have isolated it to something to do with the Magic Mouse. Tomorrow I will go buy a wired Mac Mouse at the Apple store to see if I have the same issue.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to isolate even more to the Magic Mouse then please step up!

Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 cannot be upgraded. Why was I able to purchase Adobe Premiere Elements 13 and then I am not able to upgrade it because I live in Trinidad and Tobago, WEST INDIES? I'm Dissapointed and unable to complete a wedding photos job.

There is nothing more to add to my query. Is adobe serious about globalizing all facets of their Photoshop software, Cloud and Revel?

Hi, I`d version 4.0 in use.
What do I need to do, to get version 13 as an upgrade and how expensive is that?

Any version qualifies for the upgrade, but usually the upgrade is more than the street price to just buy the full version again, if you check online retailers and big box stores.

Photoshop elements 8 under windows 7 "open with" cannot link editor

I recently upgraded my computer to 64bit, loaded my photographs and can open adobe photoshop elements 8 and editor and work on pictures. However, I usually browse my pictures in windows explorer, open folders of interest and see small pictures and browse to select. On picture I rigfht click and chose to "open with". Now adobe elementsw editor does not appear in this list as it did previously. I select "chose the program to open with" and when I find it and select it, it still does not appear.
How can I fix this?

Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
Solution 1:
1. Close Elements.
2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

Cannot "Open With.." in Photoshop Elements 10

I've upgraded from PE9 to PE10 and then uninstalled PE9. When using PE9 (and PE8 before it) I could right click on a photo and select "Open with - Photoshop Elements 9". Since upgrading to PE10 I am unable to do this i.e 'Photoshop Elements 10' does not appear in the "Open With.." list. I am using Win7 64Bit.

This is what I found. The basic problem is that Photoshop Elements 10 is not properly registering itself when it installs. I upgraded from v9 to v10 so that may have something to do with it. If you do what the solution suggests then it will set up the registry entries so that “Open With..” will include PE10. However if you have an automatic registry cleaning program (I have System Mechanic) then it will soon delete those registry entries as the program referenced (i.e PE10) is not registered. Having discovered this I then set System Mechanic to ignore the appropriate registry entries and thus it does not delete them. “Open With… PE10” has since worked fine.
