Photoshop Elements 8 IMac

Hi I have Photoshop Elements 8 and have recently changed from PC to IMac,is there anything I can do, so I don't have to buy the software again?
Any advice, much appreciated, thanks
Natasha

How did you get the software? If you got it with some kind of hardware like a camera or scanner, you probably have both versions on the disc, but otherwise, for PSE 8, I'm afraid you do. PSE 9 comes with both platforms if you buy the boxed version (not the download), but from PSE 3 to PSE 8, it was one platform only.
Adobe does offer a crossgrade license, but you would need to pay the "upgrade fee" since you'd be getting PSE 9 for mac. Since there isn't really upgrade pricing for PSE (it's only a rebate for registered owners, not a deep discount like you get with PS), it doesn't help any with PSE, unfortunately, since you can almost always find it elsewhere for less than MSRP.

  • Photoshop Elements &IMac/Snow Leopard

I have had Photshop Elements 3.0 installed on my Imac running on Leopard and it has been problem free. I have recently installed Snow Leopard  and now I am having problems opening some photos from IPhoto. When I have Iphoto set to edit in Elements but when I click on some photos I get the message "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document". It seems to be fairly random which photos this happens with as they are all of the same type and mostly donloaded from the same camera. O have re-installed Elements but the problem persists.
    Can anyone help/

Barbara - Thank for the tip. I have also found a way round the problem. It
seems that the only photos I can't open are those that have had no
enhancements or adjustments made to them in either Photoshop or Iphoto so it
wasn't random after all. If I can't open a photo I just need to make any
slight adjustment to it in Iphoto and then it it is possible to open it in
Photoshop. It is a bit of a pain as you have to keep changing the edit in
Iphoto preferences but it seems to work.
    Thanks again.
    Bernard.

  • How can I run a copy of photoshop elements from a hard drive from a broken laptop on my new imac

The laptop had motherboard issues so have taken the hard drive out and am running it externally on a new iMac - if i try to run the program it says error code 6 and that i need to uninstall then reinstall the product but I bought it online so don't have a disc

Install a downloaded version... you should be able to find it among the following links:
    PSE 10, 11 - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-10-11-downloads.html
    PSE 7, 8, 9 - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-7-8-9-downloads.html
Check your Adobe account online for the serial number if you have not saved it anywhere locally.

Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

  • I have Photoshop Elements 9 on an iMac with OS 10.6.8. I bought a new printer/scanner and the program will not import the new scanner to replace the old one. How do I do this?

Thank you for your suggestions. I downloaded a more recent version of Twain, but this didn't help. I also tried closing and opening Photo Shop and restarting my computer without success. Reinstalling Photo Shop sounds like a very promising solution, but I'm  not sure I will do it. In the meantime I can scan items using a printer program. These scans open in Photo Shop. It is an extra step.

Yes you can. In iPhoto create a Album with the photos you want in it. You can drag them from your Events folder. In iTunes with your iPad connected go to Photos by cliking on your iPad. You can then select the album or events you want.

Unfortunately, only adobe can help you with that, as most people here are just posters such as your self and don't work for adobe.
If you go here and use the Chat now button (bottom of page), they should get you up and running by resetting your activations.

  • PhotoShop Elements 4.0 works on MacBook Pro but does not on iMac (same OSX10.6.8)?

Photshop elements 4.0 worked fine on my MacBook Pro (same OSX 10.6.8) but when I installed it on my new iMac, it continually freezes and crashes.  Any suggestions?
Also, how do I uninstall this program on the Mac?  Used to "Remove Programs" on Windows Control Panel.  Thanks.

There are three methods to uninstall apps on a Mac.
Look to see if the developer provides an uninstall utility, if they do use that first.
Use an app like AppCleaner (Google it) to locate all of the app to remove all the pieces of it.
Drag the app to the Trash.
Why it's not working...well you will need to look on an Adobe Photoshop Elements forum for help unless someone here is able to assist.

  • Photoshop Elements 4.0 on iMac

    Hello,
my parents bought me Photoshop Elements 4.0 about 3 years ago for my MacBook. I've just bought an iMac and successfully migrated all my files from there onto the new one (I couldn't find the installation disc/serial number). I think I've got the serial number now, looked it up in the old application
BUT the new iMac can't/won't open PE 4.0, it says ''You can’t open the application “Photoshop Elements 4.0” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.''
What do I do? My parents paid for it and I'd like to use it.....
    Thank you!
    Anja

OH!  So by "There's no other option" you meant "There's no other option... that costs $49 or less!"
    Thank you for that clarification.
For 18 months, I have been assisting those who upgraded to Lion and now Mt. Lion with no foreknowledged that their COMPLETE PowerPC software library would immediately fail to function.
Some purchased new Macs that could not be modified to boot Snow Leopard.
Some had PowerPC software that they discovered only has existing Intel upgrades with a different, reduced feature set then what they need for their daily use.
And lastly, some were using PowerPC Software that had no 3rd party alternative software that could open their data files, modify them and resave them in any continuing usable format; as for example, users who have a substantial amount of Appleworks database files.
So, when these Appleworks database users read your comment, that "There's no other option" are you telling them to throw away years of their time, money and efforts?
I do not think that is the appropriate response.
And, from my 18 months of experience with people in the same shoes as the OP, there is almost ALWAYS one or more other PowerPC applications that they use that were not yet discovered or mentioned in the OP.
So, the proper conclusion is that upgrading ALL of his PowerPC applications may be MUCH more expensive than $49 and that "a lot more work" may be his ONLY alternative to keeping his workflow working now and into the future; while they look for other options that may arise in the future.
At least they are aware, then, that there IS another option!

  • Issues with Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on iMac

    Hello Members,
I no longer have Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 registered on any computer as my previous computers crashed and the hard drives were no longer functional.  I tried installing the Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 Disc on my new iMac computer and it's telling me that I have installed this software on other computers which have exceeded the maximum installations.  Could you please let me know how I am able to use the same license number and install this software on my iMac computer? Thank you.

You need to contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away.
