Photoshop Elements 8 Online Backup

Evidently photoshop elements 8 automaticaly enabled auto backup into the free 2GB of online space at photoshop.com. When I noticed it backing up I stopped the backup and deleted the files on the pc but the online backup shows I have used 31 MB of space which are the photos it uploaded before I stopped it. Now I cannot delete those files. How can a user delete files once it does an online backup to photoshop.com?

This page from Help explains all about synchronization:

See the section "More options for Backup/Synchronization" for how to tell which photos are synchronized with Photoshop.com.
To delete a photo from your Photoshop.com account, log on in your browser to Photoshop.com.  Click My Library. Click the first thumbnail and shift-click the last thumbnail, selecting them all.  Click the Delete button at the bottom center of the window.

Umm, seriously? No offense, but what you are saying is basically "I just bought a Mercedes, but don't know how to drive." You can plenty of info what each program in Creative Cloud does by just typing the respective words into a web search...

    Any other possebility?
    Yes.
It looks like the conversion of catalog versions from Elements 5 must be made when converting to 64 bits Windows versions:
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82741
So, you could download the catalog converter to create a valid PSE13 catalog.
Now, the problem I see ist that the current Lightroom version (5.6) is not yet able to convert PSE13 catalogs . I am confident that the next LR version will include that possibility.
I doubt you could download a trial version of PSE12, which would solve your problem, but maybe other forum members could suggest a solution?
Could you find someone with a running verstion of PSE12 who could convert your catalog.psa catalog to a PSE12 catalog folder?
    Edit:
If you are in a hurry, and if you can follow the steps to get a correct PSE13 catalog with the trial version, you can 'write metadata to files' so that your picture files can be imported in Lightroom with their tags, ratings and notes. You won't recover stacks, collections or version sets though.

  • Photoshop elements online storage

I do not want your online storage. I have my own backup solutions, and the last thing i need is another subscription fee to forget about. Every time I load Photoshop Elements, I am first confronted with a window telling me to buy more storage. I will NEVER buy your storage. This sales pitch is highly annoying and unprofessional.
My question is, how do I disable online storage? Somehow during the install process, Photoshop Elements chose to backup my pictures. It quickly hit the 2gb cap (google offers free 5gb, as does dropbox, and ubuntu ONE, and others I am sure).  Now every time I start, I get a warning that my storage is full, and the only solution offered is for me to buy more storage.
I cannot for the life of me find out how to disable the online storage. I go into the preferences, and find the "Elements Backup/Synchronization Services", wherein I see a single option.  The box for "Backup/Sync" has been unchecked. I see no other way of adjusting the state of backup.
What I expected was for Elements to create a folder in My Pictures, which would contain files i want to backup. This is how Google Drive, Dropbox, and others work.  Something tells me that Adobe, in its infinite wisdom, has obfuscated this data.
One solution I have come up with is to delete Elements, delete my adobe account, and then reinstall without entering my details.

I figured it out. The answer is to ignore all the links Photoshop Elements offers. None of them lead to the right page. Go to photoshop.com and re-enter your credentials there. Within this page, you can "organize my library". Contrary to what it says, this only affects your online library. In an effort to milk the Instagram trend, photoshop has created a confusing roundabout way of sharing photos. Apparently the miriad ways of sharing photos which have been tried and tested over the past decade are, in Adobes eyes, insufficient. Clearly, the world needs yet another medium by which to share photos. Apparently Adobe realized millions of people were viewing pictures without recieving their sales pitch.
Anyhow, once I found my online library, I was able to delete it with relative ease. I considered downloading copies of these pictures just in case the originals had been corrupted or lost. Fortunately Adobe made that simple by denying me access. If I want to download the pictures which legally belong to me, I have to pay adobe for some kind of premium account.
It is no wonder adobe products have been among the top pirated software over the past decade.

  • Photoshop elements 10 backup won't work

I've used PSE 10 for some time, but only backup about twice a year (full backups to both external drive and dvds stored offsite).  It won't let me backup to my K drive (external), doesn't even start before stating that it has encountered an error writing the file.  The external drive works fine; just backed up using Windows BU.  I've repaired, optimized, and reconnected files to no avail.
    Any ideas?  Thanks!

Thank you for your help.  I was trying to backup my catalog to an external drive.  Are you saying i can't backup to an external hard drive?  I wanted to do two backups: one to an external hard drive and one to dvds that i would store offsite.  I was not trying to copy images because i wanted the whole catalog, including the indexing features of Elements Organizer.  I've determined a way around this is to use disc spanning software (Roxio) that will backup the very large image folders to multiple dvds.  Then, i must be careful to also backup the catalog separately.  The problem with this is only if i need to restore the catalog and images.  I believe i must replace them in the same drive path for the catalog to work correctly, which can be a problem if i am using a different computer for the restore destination. Then, the drive letters may or may not match.  Currently, i have everything on my D drive because it is 2 TB, whereas the default installation is the C drive.  I just wish Organizer did this for me, but i guess it's just not going to work, so i'll use Roxio unless you have another idea.  Thanks again.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Backup failed

The catalog and the pictures are on a USB 2,5 external drive under Win 7. I converted the catalog from PSE 8 to PSE 9 on the same external drive. If I started the backup, I get the message, that PSE 9 will determine the backup space. This process stops every time at 12 percent for more than 8 hours. No message from PSE, the computer doesn't crash. Chdsk of the external drive: no fault, checking the catalog under PSE 9: no fault.

Having similar problems with Elements 9.  (Windows 7, 64 bit).
The program seems to work fine until I try to backup.  When I select ‘Backup Catalog to CD, DVD, or Hard Drive’ from the File menu nothing happens.  I’m trying to backup to a hard drive.  I cannot gain control back.  If I move the cursor I get the revolving circular waiting symbol and finally, a screen that says:
Elements 9 Organizer is not responding with options to try:
    ·         Check for a solution and close the program
    ·         Close the program
    ·         Wait for the program to respond
None of these work and Elements 9 closes.
The error message in the box reads:

  • Photoshop Elements 9 Backup problem

I have multi-catalogs in PE9 and one catalog will not backup either to external or internal drive. I just get the message "please wait while Elements Organizer Prepares for Backup" and nothing happens. Windows task manager shows the process is running and the only way to close it is by "ending the task". I have tried re-installing PE9 and deleting the offending catalog and re-loading it. Any help would be appreciated.

That means there are some options for a particular brush preset enabled under the Brush Tablet options

You can turn the settings on and off to see how they change the brush preview

  • Need instructions for restoring a Photoshop Elements 3 backup with incrementals

This seems like it should be in the documentation, but I can't find it.  The help docs only seem to explain restoring a full backup.
I've done a full backup with PSE 3, and have also done a couple of incremental backups since.  I'm putting these all on an external USB hard drive, with each backup (full and incremental) in its own folder.
If I had to restore the entire catalog in the future, should I start by restoring the full catalog, and then go back and restore each incremental backup on top of what I've already done?
Or should I start at the last incremental and restore it first.  And if I did that, would PSE automatically restore all previous incremental backups from that point and the original full backup, or do I need to go back and restore all of those manually?
    Thanks for your help.
    Terry

  • Transfer from Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on the Mac.

I want to transfer from Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP to Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on the Mac. My problem is I have lost my catalog and Windows XP.  I need help.
I have installed the newest Mac version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE 12 Mac) and it seems to work fine but I have not been able to access my old (XP, PSE6) catalog file.
I am working on a MacBook Air running OSX version 10.9.2.  I have been using Parallels Desktop 9 Switch-to-Mac-Edition™ to run Windows virtual machines.  I had been working for over a year running Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows XP virtual machine.  The XP operating system was updated to 2/28/14.
When I installed Windows 8, the Parallels program initially offered me a choice of virtual machines, Window XP or Windows 8.  I could use the XP version to work with Photoshop Elements 6 as before and thought I could be leisurely about transferring my Photoshop operations to the Mac side.
However, without my knowingly doing anything to dispose of Windows XP, I have “lost” Windows XP.  Perhaps it occurred when I updated to Windows 8.1.  At any rate, now I have access only to Windows 8.1.
To compound the problem the Time Machine backup program for the Mac was not backing up the XP virtual machine files as I had thought.   I have since corrected the settings but I do not have a copy of Windows XP nor of the Adobe Photoshop Elements catalog which I used in the past.
Moreover, I do not have a workable Windows XP disk; the only one I could find is from Dell and it does not load on my MacBook Air.  I see Windows XP disks offered by Amazon for about $30 and have thought about buying a copy to help see if I could  accomplish the transfer of the catalog file to my Mac.  I would use XP only to accomplish this transfer.
I am not completely confident that reinstalling Windows XP would actually enable me to do the transfer and I can foresee potential big problems. Therefore, before taking that step I thought that I would check with you to see if there is a way to find the catalog file and perhaps to modify it so that I could work in the Mac Environment.
I have used Elements to improve and organize over a thousand travel and family photos taken with a pocket size digital camera.  Being a nonprofessional, I have edited mainly by cropping and using Quick Fix but have many hours invested.  Yes,  I still have the originals and probably could have redone much of that work with the time I have invested in trying to find the missing XP and catalog.
I have found two large HDS files (Windows XP.hdd and Windows XP (2).hdd) that were created 7/15/12.  I suspect they may be important but am not sure what they are.   I read that HDS files are commonly Windows media digital rights management files, DRMs.   HDS files may also be used by hierarchical data systems.  Do the names suggest anything about Photoshop?
Can you help me find the catalog and transfer it for use with the Mac Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?

  • How to install Lightroom and Photoshop Elements from my old pc to my new pc?

I have a new pc and want to install Lightroom 5.7 and Photoshop Elements 12 from my old pc to the new one.

For LR here is a useful link:
    http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/
There is also a video tutorial which covers moving a LR catalog to a new computer:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/how-to-migrate-lr-to-an other-computer/
For Elements you can simply install the application and then set up the Elements Editor for external editing in the LR Library prefs. I’m assuming you won’t be using Oranizer as well as LR. That can lead to confusion and broken links unless you are very disciplined.
If you do intend to use Organizer the method is backup and restore, starting with an Organizer backup on the old PC.
