Photoshop Elements 9.0 Oganizer loses list of Keyword tags

I use Windows 7 and I have had this problem in both PSE 8.0 and 9.0.  If I have the Organizer open for any amount of time, the list of my Keyword Tags on the right disappears.  I either have to Optimize the Catalog or close and reopen the program.  Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?  Thanks for your help.

Ok. in that case this is just a refresh issue. When you access Organizer through remote connection, tags and album pane looks blank but these gets populated on relaunch.

  • I seem to be unable to find the list of keyword tags - HELP!

I have been using keyword tags for years in previous versions of Photoshop Elements.  In version 12 at first I noticed that they were harder to apply.  But now, something has happened that has removed the list of tags.  How do I get them back??? (and where do I find out how to use them easily)?

    Hi,
If you don't want to use the map functions then probably the best thing is to use keyword tags.
Switch to Media view click on the + next to Keywords and select New Category. Give it a name like My Places.
If you want to create a hierarchy of say continents, Click on the + again and select New Sub-Category. Give it a name of a continent and make sure that the parent is set to My Places.
You can create the tree structure as you want.
Finally, click on the + and select New Keyword Tag. Give it the name of the place that you want and check that the category is set to its parent in the chain.
You could end up with this type of thing
    My Places
         Sub Cat 1
              Place 1
         Sub Cat 2
              sub Cat 2-1
                  Place 2
              sub Cat 2-2
                   Place 3
I hope that makes sense - good luck
    Brian

  • How to print a list of keyword tags in PSE7 from the XML file?

When choosing keyword tags to add to photos it would be useful to have a printed list, structured in categories and sub-categories. The "Save Keyword Tags to File" command just produces an XML file that seems to have all the data, but I don't have any applications that will open it properly. IE and Netscape just show the XML tags without interpreting them. Netscape complains about the lack of styles. Is that what I need?

    Hello Fred
This is what I do in Windows XP Home.
    Click on Start
    Click on Run
In the Open window type: C:\psedbtool\psedbtool-csv file
(yes, that is a space between csv and file)
    Click on OK
You then get a black window that steadily gets filled up with information. If you've got a PSE catalog the size of mine, when it says "Checking for missing files" and "Writing files" you may think everything has stopped, but wait, percentages will appear, working up to 100%. You will find the four files in a folder called C:\psedbtool
Take note of what John Ellis says in the .html document about using csv files.
    Good luck

  • Photoshop Elements 6.0 transfer of photos and keywords to Photoshop Elements 13

I have Photoshop 6 with photos and keywords on an older computer.  I want to transfer this to a new machine with Photoshop 13.  How is this done to preserve/duplicate the keyword attachment?

Please read this help file and follow the instructions step by step.
<Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later>
    Good luck.

  • Upgraded elements 12 to LR 5:  Missing Most Keyword tags

I just upgraded my Elements 12 Catalog to LR 5 catalog on my Windows 7 machine. I followed the instruction listed in the conversion video.
For me the tags are the most important thing I use to Organize my images. I have over 20,000 pictures in my Elements Catalog and each one has at least 1 tag on it. After the conversion, LR tell me there are 13,500 pictures no tags. Furthermore, the tags that survived the upgrade are not linked to all the pictures that they are part of. Ie:  In Elements, I have 136 pictures tagged in Venice, Italy. After the upgrade I see only 1 image even though all of the images are still in the present. When I look at the other images that are in that folder and click "Keywording" there are no Keywords listed for those images.
I've tried to reupgrade my Catalog with the same results. I've tried just giving LR time to load everything. I've rebooting my machine and reopening LR in case that would trigger a read of the Keyword database.  In each case, everything just remained the same.
How do I recover all my tags?  For me the tagging is the most invaluable part of my photo collection and if I don't have my tags in Lightroom then I can't make the switch.

There are increasing number of reports of this happening here in this forum.
    I don't have an explanation.
I suggest you submit a bug report: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
The alternative procedure (which has its own drawbacks), but is at least worth a try, is to have PSE write the tags to all of your photos and then import the photos into Lightroom. You have nothing to lose except a little of your time.

  • Photoshop Elements Tags

I am presently using Photoshop Elements 8. If I upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 will I lose my Photoshop Elements 8 photo tags?

No, but People, Places and Events were dramatically changed in v11 onwards. I suggest you download the trial and convert your catalog to see if you like the new style. If you don't you can continue in the old style by renaming your tags in v8 to (say) 'My People', 'My Places' and then convert your catalog. Then they will come across as 'old style regular tags and you can ignore the new style.

  • Transferring Photoshop Elements 11 files to a different computer

My son recently bought Photoshop Elements 11 and installed it on his computer.  I would like to transfer my catalog of pictures to him and have it look just like it does on my computer with Album titles, keywords, etc.  When we tried to do this by using a backup of my Photoshop Element files, it transferred the pictures and keywords but not the album titles or album organization.  Also, the keywords were not in the same keyword categories that I had set up on my computer.  Is it possible to do what I want, or do the pictures have to all be reorganized and put into albums again on his computer?

If you used the organizer's backup command (not another form of backing up) and then did a restore (not just a copy) to the new computer, you should have everything you had on the old one.

  • I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Element

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

  • I'm wanting to use the "Actions" in Photoshop Elements 11.  But when I get the Actions box up, it is only showing a small list of effects to use.  And no side bar to go any further.  When I click on the little arrow at top and then click on "load actions"

I'm wanting to use the "Actions" in Photoshop Elements 11. But when I get the actions box up, it is only showing a small list of effects to use. And no side bar. So I can't go any further.  When I click on the little arrow at top and click on "load actions", I am only getting a box with empty space saying "No items match your search".  The folder at the top does say "Actions".  How do I get more effects?  The tutorials that I've checked into all show a long list of effects in their box.  Can anyone help?

To use the existing actions, try the following:
    1. Open one of the Action Sets, in this example Special Effects is the Action Set, by pressing the small arrow beside the set name.
    2. Then click on the name of the Action, in this example Faded Ink is the Action name.
    3. Then press the Play button to run the action.

  • HP Advanced Photo Paper not listed in my printer profile in Photoshop Elements 7

I have an HP 6310 Officejet printer and have successfully printed photos on (8" X 10") HP Premier Plus photo paper.  However, (4" X 6") HP Advanced Photo Paper does not appear in my Photoshop Elements list of papers for selection.
    Can you help?

In case you are not getting the option to select the paper from PSE, you can go to printer settings through the icon present in the print dialog box, there you can select the paper. The paper selected in the advanced options should be reflected in PSE as well.

  • Why isn't .jfif not listed in the JPEG file extensions (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe) Photoshop Elements 12

    Problem:  Corrupt JEPG files.
    Software:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12
Story: On my website I have the option to sell files as instant downloads.  I upload JEPG 300dpi images of my artwork for people to purchase is a download.  I have done this on Etsy for several years without a problem.
The problem began when I setup a website using Weebly, an online build your own website company.  I upload the same files I have used in the past, but when I do a test purchase and download my file it is corrupt.  I get an error message in Photoshop Elements that the file is corrupt or missing information.  If I let Photoshop open the file, the file it is only half there or lines through the image.
I have been working with a Weebly tech to solve the problem.  I sent him the file I wanted to upload.  He opened the file on his computer and saved it.  Then uploaded to my site, I downloaded it and the file was fine a perfectly clear 300 pdi JPEG file.  We were confused.  After a few more tests he mentioned he did not have Photoshop and was using Microsoft Paint (light bulb) to open and save the files. His files worked, mine did not.
So I tried opening my files in Paint and saving them in that JEPG format and they work.  The only difference i can see between Paints JEPG save option and Photoshops Save Function is that Paint includes the .jfif extension.
Question:  Should this make a difference?  if so can I add the file extention to Photoshop's list of file types that I can save?
    Thanks
    Mark

Thank you I will check it out.  I am not sure what information is attached to picture files, but the same file saved in Microsoft Paint works in my situation and the Photoshop file will not. The only difference is Paint supports.jfif and photoshop does not.  I might want to go the other way jpg to jififs. or save with to jepg with software that supports jfifs.

Trying to install these programms again, I logged in to my account "my adobe" and immediately found my products listed there plus a link "download here". But clicking the link didn´t start anything. Nothing happened. How can I get my prgramms installed again?

Try using a different browser if the link did not work.

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.
In any case, start by going to the editor preferences>general, clicking this button and restarting the editor:
