Photoshop Elements 9 closes immediately on startup

The title is pretty much the gist of it. Photoshop Elements 9 suddenly stopped working a while ago and I've made multiple attempts to find a solution over the past week, but to no avail. It worked perfectly earlier this month, I've run antivirus and malware scans, and I'm running 32bit Windows 7. I don't have the disc to reinstall photoshop anymore, else I would have tried it long ago, but I do have the CD Key.

Oh, thanks. I was prompted to write the reply to wherever it was posted before the fact after I signed in, so I'm not sure where it wound up. Still, thanks for moving it to the right spot.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Organiser crashes on startup

    Hi,
I have had a stable installation of PE8 for over a year but today when I came to run the organiser it crashed immediately on startup and has resolutely continued to do so whatever I've tried.
I de-installed it (and Premiere Elements 8) and have reinstalled Photoshop E8 on its own but this has not fixed the poblem.  I cannot append my email address to the crash report because, laughably, it believes the email address "[email protected]" is malformed.  The crash reports your system is receiving will therefore have the email address "[email protected]" instead (assuming you have access to these reports).
    Please help me,
    Mike

Try renaming the folder "Elements Organizer" and "Online Services". These folder are present at C:\Users\<current user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe for Win 7.
After renaming these folders, application should launch without crashing. For Win XP they are present at correponding location for current user.

  • Adobe photoshop elements 12 crashes immediately after editor is launched

I have just purchased Adobe photoshop elements and Premier 12. After my first elements install, I was able to load the Organiser, but the editor crashes immediately after loading. I uninstalled, deleted all adobe folders and files, and re-installed, only to find the same problem again. The editor crashes regardless of whether I load it from the flash screen on launch or from within the organiser.

Can you go to this folder and try launching directly from the executable:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12
Make sure you choose the application. Right-click on PhotoshopElementsEditor and choose "Run As Administrator"

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer/Editor Hanging on Startup

When I open Photoshop Elements 10 from the start menu, it takes about 3 minutes for the first welcome screen to appear. If I select to open the editor from the welcome screen, or by right-clicking a file in Windows Explorer and selecting 'Open with...Photoshop', the program opens, the image populates on the canvas, and within a few seconds the program hangs for about 3-5 minutes (fades out, title bar says (Not Responding)). I have tried adding 127.0.0.1 etc. to the host file, removing FastCore, MMX, and a third .8BX file I can't recall at the moment, opening with administrative privileges, and changing my default printer to a dummy local printer, to no avail. Has anyone had similar problems? I suspect the issue has something to do with the 'Initializing Main Interface...' item in the C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\10.0\Organizer\log.txt taking 168,000 units (ms?) of time to execute, but I'm not sure. • Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 does not open in OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Ever since I  upgraded to OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 crashes immediately upon launch. The system generates a report that Apple receives. However, it states to contact the developer of the app. I already deleted and reinstalled the app. I need help getting Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 to work again. I barely have a year with it, so it is shocking to think that Adobe is already dropping support on a program that is barely 1 or 2 versions old. Thanks.

Whenever I open Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 it immediately shuts down and comes up with an error message. How do I fix this? And does it have anything to do with Windows 8?

Also, display driver details would be helpful.

  • Random rotation of picture in Photoshop Elements?

I just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements and notice immediately that the first picture I went to work with keeps rotating randomly whenever I change it's size even slightly.  Has this happened to anyone else.  It's very irritating.
    Thanks, Chris

Thanks so much for getting back to me.  I'm using a brand new Macbook Pro.
To enlarge image, I use the track pad to pinch or expand with two fingers.
It's very strange, when I enlarge the image even a little bit, the image
suddenly rotates 45 degrees to the right, enlarge a little more, it rotates
another 45 degrees and so on. Even when I reduce image size, it rotates
image 45 degrees about every 10 points I enlarge or reduce.
    Any thoughts?

  • I have Photoshop Elements 11 installed on my PC, and now it flickers on startup of the Editor, then closes on its own with a message saying it has stopped working.

Photoshop Elements 11 has been working for over a year, and now suddenly it flickers on startup, then closes with a message saying it has stopped working.
Is there a repair option to fix it?

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Photoshop Elements 12 crashing on startup

I'm writing to please seek help in regards to my Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 on my Windows 8 PC. I purchased Elements 12 six months ago via digital download and everything ran very smoothly; however last week I opened it and shortly after startup I was presented with a pop-up box saying that Photoshop Elements had stopped working, Windows is checking for a solution to the problem. A few seconds after this, another pop-up appeared saying that it had encountered a problem and needed to close. Then the entire program shuts down before I could do any work in the editor.
I have tried several of the troubleshooting problems listed on the Adobe website to no avail; particularly the suggestion of recreating the preferences file. I had this same problem with my Photoshop Elements 7 a few years ago and the preferences file solution solved it very quickly, but that is not working this time. I am very disappointed since this is the second time I have had serious trouble with an Elements software, and especially since my current version of Elements 12 is only 6 months old. It is extremely important that I get the program running again as soon as possible, as I need it to complete work on my university dissertation.
If you know of any way to help, I would really appreciate hearing back as I am becoming quite desperate in regards to a solution!

    Hi Emma,
I have sent you a private message. Please respond on that.

  • Photoshop Elements opening on startup, despite having shut it down prior to closure.

I am running Elements 13 on a MacBook Air O SX Yosemite version 10.10.
After installation I encountered the following issues.
    1)       Elements 13 Organiser application opened ok and transferred my photos from iPhoto.
    2)       Elements 13 Application opened o.k
    3)       Elements 13 Editor opened o.k
But latterly, when opening Elements 13 application after 1 second, the screen reverts to another copy of Elements 13 Organiser.
I have attempted to check the Installed files, to check if they are in the right location, cannot see any apparent issues.
Additionally on Start-UP  Elements 13 starts automatically despite having quit the programme prior to closure.
Maybe if I completely re-installed Elements 13 the problems might go away.
Your earliest response would be much appreciated.
    Kind Regards     David A Hullin

    Barbara Hi!
    Thanks for your quick response.
Sorry for the confusion regarding 2 Copies of Elements 13 Organiser.
What I intended to say is as follows:
On my Dock, after installing Elements 13, there are three adjacent Buttons for the Elements 13 Application from left to right:-
    1  Elements 13 Organiser
    2  Elements 13
    3  Elements 13 Editor
    MY ISSUES ARE:
    1  Elements Organiser  opens o.k.
    HOWEVER:
2 Elements 13      (To import work from the Elements Organiser),  the following happens:
This section of the application opens only briefly, (1.5 seconds,  headed appropriately  Elements 1  (But immediately reverts to a repeat copy of the Elements Organiser screen) which is activated by Button 1
    Button 3 Elements 13 Editor (opens) O.K.
P.S   Initially the application was working O.K
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards
    David A Hullin

the screen reverts to another copy of Elements 13 Organiser.
What do you mean by this? There is only one copy of Elements 13 organizer installed on any mac.
I would start by deleting the preferences and the saved application states for PSE:

  • Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements Splash Screen Only, Then Closes (Windows 7 PC)

    Help!
Having a very tough time getting up and running with Photoshop and Premiere Elements 12 on my WIndows 7 desktop. Got everything installed, but when I try to open either product, the splash screen opens, the product is up for a few seconds, then it closes. How can I get it up and running?  I see Adobe does not have free phone support with version 12 of the elements family. I understand that, but if I can't get it to run I will have to return it and slog on with my elements version 7 products. Any suggestions?  Thanks!
    -GDH

Thanks Bob and Barbara.  I did try uninstalling and reinstalling with Norton 360 turned off and selective startup only windows required programs running in the background.  There is nothing displayed in the bottom left of the splash while it is open, unfortunately.  I was with Premiere Elements phone chat on hold but they have transferred me to the Photoshop Elements team where hopefully they will be able to get on my computer and fix this.  The Premiere guy said the proble with Premiere is because of the Photoshop elements organizer before he transferred me. Keeping my fingers crossed that they will help me or I may have to return it and go back to version 7 of this duo. It's old, but at least it works. Thanks
