Photoshop Elements 9 Organizer corrupts Catalog with program crash in offset 000253da

I have just installed Photoshop Elements 9 on a Windows PC (no previous version was installed) but when I try and load photos into the organizer either from a camera or photos already on hard disk I get the following error shortly after Organizer has generated the thumbnails :
Elements 9 Organizer has encountered a problem and needs to close
Error signature
AppName photosopelementsorganizer.exe AppVer 9.0.0.0 ModName tbb.ddll
ModVer 2.2.2009.1011 Offset 000253da
Following this error the program closes and the catalog is left in a corrupt state so that when Organizer is restarted it crashes again with the same error. The only way to get Organizer to start cleanly is by creating a new catalog in the Catalog Manager window by pressing [Ctrl] [Alt] and [Shift] in the Welcome Window when starting Organizer. Repairing the catalog does not resolve the corruption.
I have tried un-installing Photoshop Elements, then re-installing, downloading the latest updates from Adobe and then loading in just one photo from either my camera (Pentax k-x) or a file on the Hard Disk, but still get the same catalog corruption.
Can anyone help? The Organizer is unusable with this fault. My Windows XP operating system is at the latest fix level and all other software on this machine is extremely robust.
My system information is :

  • Is Photoshop Elements organizer 9 compatible with the most current version?

I have a large photo collection organized with Photoshop Elements 9 organizer.  I am hoping that i can import the album data file (tags, names, folders, etc.) into the newest Photoshop Elements organizer, version 13.
    Thoughts or suggestions?
I would hate to have to re-label thousands of pictures.

    Thank you!
I plan to purchase a new computer shortly and move all image files along with the Adobe album information/data file to the same directory on the new machine.  I was hoping that when i was installing the new software, the old data file would be recognized and it would be upgraded/imported into the new PSE13 album.
I have over 6,000 carefully tagged photographs, and i don't want to re-tag photos.

  • Need some help with Photoshop Elements Organizer

I have had this program for awhile now, but have not had a lot of time to spend with it....also on a new Mac.
I am trying to work with the Organizer.  First time I tried to import photos from IPhoto, it said there was no media to import....(I have a lot of pictures here).  I did some reading of the forums and determined that it might be a bug so I downloaded the update 9.0.3.   Now I am getting an error tht says Photoshop Elements Organizer is attempting to import photos from a default folder.  If I check OK, it begins to import all of my photos.
Any help on this problem would be most appreciated.
    Thanks
    Frustrated

The import is working fine. This is a warning message telling you that it is going to import photos and videos from the default folder of your system. Just to inform you about the action it is about to take.
In case you find it not working, you can log a bug to Adobe at:

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer 13 crash!!!

    Hey everybode,
since yesterday I have a problem with my Photoshop Elements Organizer 13. It appears for a few seconds and after that it disapears as soon as it published. No report and no apparent reason. After a millions of install and uninstall still tthe same problem. Even the troubleshooting of Adobe brings no solution. What can I do now??? Any ideas???
    I need help please!!!

    zna22121,
Close computer down, and restart. If it does not work, it should, then re-install. But, do not attempt more than 200 at a time it just cannot handle it ?
    Good luck
Ps. I just dislike Organiser, (it is too slow, and disorganised) you can go from PE 13 Editor ( My wife tried it and went back to PE 6 ) and Process Multiple Files only 200 at a time. in Photoshop Elements, Organizer may handle it ?
We often do video production stills of 2,000 from PE 6 and we know it works ,when you use the images in Adobe CS5.5.2 Premiere Pro..for HD & Blue -ray transfers.. It is very easy ?

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer: What is the procedure to follow step by step to split a catalog of 30,000 images in 3 smaller catalogs?

    Photoshop Elements Organizer:
For example : I have pictures taken on 6 continents all stored in the same catalog and I want to create one catalog for each continent (Africa, Asia, etc).
    How to proceed?
    Thanks

Use tags instead of splitting the catalog. There is no built-in procedure to split catalogs.

great Problemes after installing Yosemite (10.10.2 ) with Photoshop CS6....The program crashes --last time 10 times during my work session..wacomtable doesnt work..it is slow...and get error messages about the graphic card....It s a Terror to work with my beloved Photoshop!

The Yosemite upgrade very often damages existing Photoshop installations.  Thank Apple for that.
You need to uninstall and re-install Photoshop, then apply all the Photoshop upgrades from scratch.
But first, give us details about your setup:
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
A screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

  • Max files in Photoshop Elements Organizer

    Hello,
    I have few questions:
    1/
Following this thread, I am wondering what is the limit of PhotoShop Elements Organizer V8 ?? How many pictures can we insert into ONE catalog ?
    2/
I currently have 6000 pictures that I would like to import into PhotoShop Elements Organizer V8, from Adobe PhotoShop Album V1.
Is this possible ? I tried with the trial version, but I have an error when converting the .psa file from PhotoShop Album V1, asking me to try to consolidate or repair the file in the previous program (but it works well in PhotoShop Album V1).
    Any idea ?
    3/
Is the trial version the same than the paid one ? I mean: if I start using the trial, inserting tags and so on, should I uninstall it when buying the full version or could I just buy a serial number and inserting it to unlock the trial ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Kamayana

    John,
You are just MARVELOUS !!!! That's awesome: your website, the informations listed in it, the work you do here on the forum !!
Wow !!! I will purchase this product just for your support. Can I pay you to obtain a support and pay you the software ? Lol
You replied to all my questions !
For 2/, I read before your FAQ (I thought it was Adobe FAQ, I did not pay attention to the URL), I tried it without success (excepted item 9/ which is not possible for me, since PhotoShop Album does not allow writing metadata to files, but maybe your small program can do it ?) ...
But since I do not give up like that, I done the following, you might add it to your FAQ ?
1/ I used the dichotomy method. I was sure that some files gave problems. So, my 6000 pictures have been separated into 6 albums (1000 each). Then, I run the converting tool on each one. All worked, excepted one. This one, I share into 500 pictures each. I run the tool on each one. One was OK, the other one fail. The one which fails has been separated in 250 pictures each... And so on. Until you see which pictures cause problems... In my case, it was some modified pictures (2 of them).
Then, I eliminate this 2 pictures from my initial 6000 catalog, I do the import again, and... SUCCESS !!
Hope it might help someone else.

  • Lightroom vs Photoshop Elements Organizer

I don't know Lightroom, but a friend suggested it as a solution to my problem, so here goes:
I have a subscription to CC (and have used Creative Suite for years). I use CC at work, but for my personal, non-work photos, I have always used Photoshop Elements Organizer, because I have never found its equal -- as an organizer. Also, I have invested a massive amount of effort into tagging every photo (about 30,000 images, more than 10 years' worth) with keywords.
I have no interest in Photoshop Elements' other features. I have CC for anything that PSE does that I care to do.
However, I don't really want to keep shelling out for PSE, since I'm already paying (have paid) about a zillion dollars to Adobe over the years for Creative Suite and now CC.
So here's the question: Can I use Lightroom (or Bridge, perhaps) as a substitute for PSE Organizer? Does either program import PSE Organizer's catalogs? Because unless I can import what I've got, no other organizer will do it for me.
I'd also consider another organizer product if it could import PSE catalogs, but I'm hoping there's a little gem of a program already in CC that I'm not aware of that will do the trick.
    TIA.

I don't use the face recognition tags in PSE, but I think that those will not transfer to Lightroom, as there is no way to accomodate face recognition tags in Lightroom.
    Earlier you said
However, I don't really want to keep shelling out for PSE, since I'm already paying (have paid) about a zillion dollars to Adobe over the years for Creative Suite and now CC.
so why keep paying for PSE upgrades? There are rarely any new "organizing" features in PSE. Just keep using the version you have, you can probably use it for many years until your operating system won't support older versions of PSE. My PSE 5 still runs under Windows 7 and I have heard that PSE 5 runs under Windows 8.

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer 10 backup freezes at 49%.

I have a large collection (~80,000) photos.  I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for a week to back up my collection.  Every time it freezes at 49%.  I did all the steps here: http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/troubleshoot-catalog-backup-conversion-elemen ts.html  Still freezing. Then I did a complete disk scan/repair and tried all the steps again.  Still freezing.  I am running Windows 7 on a powerful machine.
I want to move my collection to a new hard drive, so I really do need to use the bulit in backup.  What else can I try?

    thor_x9 wrote:
I was able to do the backup of just the photos, what can I try with the videos?
    That's very good news.
Here are a few ideas :
    - from your original catalog, create a copy leaving only the video media types just like what you have done with photo files.
    - generally offending video file types are not with 'common' video formats, rather with cell phone formats.
    - There may be 'corrupted' files, but non recognized formats are probably more common
-To have a look at the different formats (file extensions), look at the total number of video files and take a note of it.  Use the search by file name, 'files containing' and select a file extension visible in the browsing space (avi, mov...). Take a note of the number of files in each category.
For each category, select all and hide the files. Continue with the next  category and so on until nothing is visible.
You'll have all your files extensions with the number of files in each category.
Now, un-hide all files and make a second copy of your video catalog.
Try a backup of the video files after having deleted one of the categories. I would start with the less common video formats.
Try this until the backup works ok : you'll know the offending format.
A variant of this method would be to select the videos by camera type rather than by format type.
Something you could do with the video catalog until you have found the offending format or corrupted file(s) : you could try move (from the organizer menu) all the video files somewhere on a new empty master folder as a standard (non PSE backup). You might get significant messages in the process. Be aware that this 'move' may be impossible to 'undo' in case of a problem. A safer variant would be to 'export' instead of 'move'.

What is the version number for your Premiere Elements and the Elements Organizer that comes with it?
For now I will assume Premiere Elements 12 and its Elements Organizer 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit..
Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are standalone programs. Each comes with an Elements Organizer.
When both of those programs (same version) are on the same computer, they share the same Elements Organizer catalog.
With regard to Elements Organizer 12, in the Elements Organizer 12
    a. Reset the settings file...
Edit Menu/Preferences/General and the Restore Default Settings
    or better
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Elements Organizer
    12.0
    Organizer
and in the Organizer Folder is the .psa.prf which you disable by renaming from psa.prf to psa.prfOLD or delete.
    b. Create a new catalog...Elements Organizer File Menu/Manage Catalogs/Catalog Manager
Please review and consider, and then let us know if any of the above worked for you.
We will be watching for your progress when you get a chance.
    Thank you.

  • What is new in Photoshop elements organizer

Are there any changes to the photoshop elements organizer from version 8 to 9

I agree.  In some ways it is a real step backward.  I would not recommend "upgrading" to
PSE9 based on one day of working with it.  Lost the ability to see all files in folder view and it is
    EXTREMELY SLOW.
I really wish I hadn't changed to PSE9 and converted my catalog, which it didn't fully convert properly.
    Stay away from this upgrade!

  • Lightroom versus PhotoShop Elements Organizer and Bridge

This is directed to the Adobe Developer Team
I hope someone of the Developer team is reading this!!
For my understanding the three products out of one house (PhotoShop Elements Organizer, Bridge and Lightroom) doing about the same, should ...
work the same (same idea, same behaviour, organizing by path/subfolders instead of cataloges etc.)
maintain the same database and files (LR should recognize the collections from BR and Vice Versa, use the same cache files etc.) and should
be compatible to each other (e.g. Tags, Collections etc)
    Actually I suggest ADOBE
to eliminate Organizer and integrate the good functions into BRIDGE (e.g. albums, upload to flickr, webpage generation etc)
give BRIDGE as the free of charge picture organizer to PS Elements and to PS CS
change LIGHTROOM into an payable upgrade of BRIDGE with enhanced functionality of the free of charge BRIDGE, (which can work as a stand-alone software as it does today
better integration of PSE, PS CS into Bridge/Lightroom (e.g. Panaorama function opens only PS CS but the version of PSE works much better, so I want to choose in the menu of Bridge/Lightroom)
I am really struggling with the three of them.
Beside that I suggest to get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom with it's import/export and synchronization needs and instead use or at least integrate the idea of BRIDGE to get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders, as this is anyhow how the way pictures are stored already for most of us... I asume. I doubt that anybody just throw all files into one big subdirectory and get the organized into cataloges. But please keep collections as they are helpful to quickly collect some pictures to commonly work on them. by drag & drop. The Catalogues of LR drives me crazy but LR have a lot of nice functions (e.g. Webupload interfaces to flickr and others, nice noice reduction, nice albums and webpage functions, etc.)
    Thanks
Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year
    Georg
PS: Please all of you comment your experience and opinion on this matter ... I am interested what you think about it.

    Hi George,
Whereas Bridge and Photoshop Elements (and most non-LR users) base their organisation on the file / folder structure, Lightroom uses files / folders simply for storage - the catalog is used for organisation. This 'catalog based approach' provides far more flexibility, both in organisation, and in recording a complete, fully-reversible record of all edits made to each photograph.
    To suggest that Adobe "get rid of the Catalog idea of Lightroom" and "get pictures structured and organized by path and subfolders" would remove almost ALL advantages Lightroom has over Bridge & PS Elements combined. To fully appreciate Lightroom, you need to appreciate that files and folders are not the only way to organise photos. Why not watch a few of the Adobe Lightroom Tutorial videos? This link below takes you to a video explaining about the Catalog;
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/george-jardine-on-lightroom/the-lightroom-catalog/
    However, if you really want Adobe to hear your views, why not raise a Feature request with them, at this link below;
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
I'm sure if you call your feature request 'Remove Catalog from Lightroom, and organise by Folders instead', it'll get noticed, as will any forum posts of the same name...
    Cheers,
    Alan

Can't see several thumbnails in photoshop elements organizer grid but when I open a non-viewable thumnail in the editor I can see it in the grid.
After opening the image in the editor it appears in the Organizer grid.

Seems like the thumbnail cache is corrupted in some way. Start by trying to Repair and Optimize the catalog (File > Manage Catalogs).

I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.  I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos).  A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags.  I said yes, and the process began.  When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.

This issue is with respect to Elements 13.

  • Photoshop Elements Organizer  10

    Good day,
I need some help to start my project right.
In the last 10 years, I have accumulated about 3000 family photos by scanning old printed and accumulating new digital photos.
The problem is that they are spread into 2 desktops and 2 laptops, and I also have pictures still into 3 digitals cameras.
Now before I organize those photos with Photoshop Element Organizer, I am in search of the best way to merge all those pictures into my new laptop which has C and D drive.
I was planning to put my programs on C: and my data on D: to latter ease my backup task.
I want to build the right structure right now and not to regret anything done wrong latter.
I also want to play safe as I am afraid of loosing any of those precious souvenirs; Some are form the early 1900.
    1) Should I proceed with a transfer using a USB key drive for my scanned photos and for those received by email? They are already in the form of yyyy-mm-dd
    2) Should I use the software from my first CANON 3 MEG camera, and the software of my 2nd CANON 5 MEG, and then the 3rd software of my SAMSUNG 12 MEG to transfer the photo to my new folder?
    3) Should I put them all in the same folder?
    4) Am I right that any duplication will be found by the ORGANIZER and this will be solved easily?
    5) My guess is that they will all end up being in date order like yyyy-mm-dd. Would that be the best way?
    6) Would you have any more recommendations to help me doing the best thing?
In the videos on line, they don’t talk much about that special case of organizing a big data bank into one single new computer
All your help would be much appreciated
    Thank’s
    Gilles
